J.lo may have an ego the size of her ass but, I always thought she was very pretty.

Diane does look great. I love that blue color.

  2. Zoe says:

god, j-lo looks so gorgeous when she lets her inner Puerto Rican out. zounds!

  3. Baholicious says:

I always knew she was Boricua with Morena too but nobody listened…

Very Supremes-esque that photo. I’d have to say she was definitely in my Top 10 of the most photogenic women but something’s ‘changed’ since the babies…she doesn’t ‘smoulder’ anymore, if that makes sense.

  4. vale says:

A message to pre-plastic surgery Megan Fox: don’t get those horrible tattoos- stop her before it’s too late! She looks so much hotter without them. Even with the boobs hanging out and the kid from seventh heaven by her side.

  5. Baholicious says:

p.s. as opposed to being Boricua Morena like Big Pun – one can definitely see her African heritage in this picture though, despite her skin tone.

    Ramble on Baho…

  6. becca says:

The whole photoshoot was not fantastic.I took a look at it. The colors were vivid, the lighting was superb, but the character acting all around was complete crap. Those that did actually participate in character acting (Chris Evans, Ben Barnes, and JLo in half of her pictures), made the whole thing look comical.

  7. Baholicious says:

Really Becca? Whose shoot was it, do you know?

  8. michellle says:

Both JL & CB look incredible!
    Better than RM & NW.

  9. becca says:

Baho: Vanity Fair. It was shot in June, supposed to be out in the November publication and @ some festival and they pulled it out bc of the economy. It’s a web-only thing now.

  10. Zoe says:

@Baho: I totally agree with the “smoulder” comment, she has definitely lost something, but it always seemed to have more to do with (in my mind) “Skelator” than with having had kids but I haven’t followed the timing much.

Also, I thought she was Puerto Rican, I’m not seeing the “African heritage” you’re talking about… or are you referring to the shoot or something? Confused.

Is there a link to the Vanity Fair shoot Becca? Sounds cool.

  11. viper says:

I dont see how she had plastic surgery guys. I think Megan fox just grew out her eyesbrows then reshaped them. Also she’s lost weight which thinned out her face alot giving her more cheek bones. So maybe thats it.

  12. Baholicious says:

    Zoe, a ‘boricua’ is a Puerto Rican and a ‘boricua morena’ is a Puerto Rican with African heritage (Caribbean, slavery etc);

    Becca, give us a link!

  13. Zoe says:

Baho: thanks for the language lesson. again. I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but it’s clearly a waste, you’re so condescending, it’s truly scary.

Boricua does indeed refer to Peurto Rican, but Morena just means dark skinned, not necessarily African (and not all Africans were slaves, obviously, so your comment about her “African heritage” just threw me.

I actually thought you were making the relatively humorous connection with Rita Moreno, who was in the West Side Story movie, and not just being, well, let’s not go there….

and please, don’t bother with the history lessons, it just makes you look worse…

  14. Jenna says:

Zoe, I’m pretty sure Baho wasn’t trying to be condescending with her corrections.

I don’t care if James Franco has a gut or not, I’d still mess with him.

  15. Zoe says:

Jenna, I hear you on the James Franco yummyness, and I don’t even see a gut in the pics. Very cute.

  16. becca says:

  17. ivelisse30 says:

    She looks gorgeous. Beautiful!!!

  18. ThatBKChick says:

J-Lo only wishes she can be Rita Moreno. For those who do not know about Rita Moreno (who orginally starred in the movie version of West Side Story) She is the first and only Hispanic female and one of nine performers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony and at the time the second Puerto Rican to win an Academy Award.

Good Luck J-Lo!! You are a day late and a decade short….you have wasted a life time compared to what Ms. Moreno has accomplished as an accomplished Latina performer/actress!

  19. Jenna says:

I’d take him with or without those glasses. Ever since Spiderman I’ve been wanting that man. One can only dream damn it.

  20. geronimo says:

@Baho – ta for the explan. re Boricua Morena – saved me the googling. She smoldered far more when she was on the way up. Wealth diluted her, looks-wise and talent-wise. And I won’t even mention personality-wise….

  21. Vanu says:

Personally, I enjoy Baholicious’ “history lessons”. For me she started to lose her looks/glow- whatever you want to call it- after about 2001 when she steadily got more generic and Anglo-looking. She was naturally beautiful in films like U-turn.

  22. pixiegirl says:

OMG is that really Megan Fox??? I can’t believe that’s the same person. I mean, I see similarities and stuff but that person looks more like a sister or something. I’m actually shocked! Shocked!!

  23. Baholicious says:

Note to Zoe: I don’t need anything from you, “benefit of the doubt” or otherwise. I thought you were just asking a question to which I responded. You just wanted to pick a fight it seems.

You also don’t know much about Caribbean history either.

  24. michellle says:

    To be fair,

Zoe is correct regarding the meaning behind “Moreno” or “Morena”.

It literally means brown and is an expression used when referring to any dark skinned person regardless of ancestry.

Probably because African is not the only dark skinned influence. Rather, the people of Puerto Rica are descendents of Europeans, Africans, Tai’no indians & combinations there of.

Moreover, a Boricua of obvious African influence is more often referred to as Negra or Negrita.

Creo que la chava sabe mas de la historia Caribe’ de otri gente aqui’, no?

  25. michellle says:

    Where is Megan Fox?
Are we talking about the same thread?

Am I over looking something or are some of you mistaking the gorgeous Camilla Belle (Maria w/ brows) for that cheap tart Fox?

  26. Baho says:

Michelle, to be fair, it’s ‘Puerto Rico’ and “Moreover, a Boricua of obvious African influence is more often referred to as Negra or Negrita”: Not in the Bronx they’re not. Boricua morena refers to an Afro-Peurto Rican. At least it does to the Terror Squad, and the police.

And I don’t speak Spanish so I don’t know what you wrote verbatim but I think the jist of what you’ve asked me is whether I think that there is no-one else here who knows Caribbean history.

If that’s the case, of course I don’t. That’s ridiculous. So is posting in Spanish to an English speaker. I honestly don’t know what the purpose of that was, but wow, talk about condescending, and rude. It’s like whispering about someone right in front of their face.

My point, for the cheap seats, was that one can really see Lopez’s African background in her features in this photo. If that makes people choke in fury, have at it.

  27. Codzilla says:

Zoe: You asked a question and Baho answered. Where’s the condescension? Does it threaten you when someone is more knowledgeable?

  28. kayla says:

JLo doesn’t look african to me at all in this photo. Just gorgeous.

I think she’s a fine actress and dancer too. I wish she hadn’t wasted her time trying that singing career.

  29. morgs says:

I’ve said it before and will say it again: Rock on Baho.

  30. michellle says:

Baho honey – it’s apparently not your day, Relax.

I’ll give you o over a bc my spelling & typing skills are less than stellar but the issue is not typos. Rather, the issue was Puerto Rico not NY. Afterall, you’re the one who brought up Carribean history or the lack thereof in the first place.

As for being condescending, I never mentioned it, that was yet another of your numerous critics who brought that to the table. But since condescension is apparently an issue for you, (in more ways than one) I’d be happy to both translate & explain.

“I believe the girl knows more about Carribean history than others here, no?”

The point being, your snide comment that Zoe didn’t know much about Carribean history as well as your spouting innacurate information which some then accepted as true simply warrented such a response. Zoe was correct afterall.

As for the spanish, it stands to reason that someone claiming such cultural & linguistic knowlege might actually SPEAK the language they insist they know so much about.

So you see I wasn’t attempting to talk behind your back. It’s been laid out for you in both languages, and even if it wasn’t nothing negative was said.

It’s not a code meant to trick or insult. Rather, an easily tranlated language & latin based like our own. Didn’t think it would be such a stretch for an authoritarian & grammarian like you. Although, I clearly over looked the extent of your paranoia.

Moreover, I’m not nor did I ever dispute JL’s alleged African ancestry. I merely pointed out the origins of Puerto Ricans also included the Tai’no indians, indigenous to Meso America & brown in color. Hence, the friendly discussion, or what I thought was a friendly discussion about the term which you introduced.

Again, morena literally means brown. It’s used to refer to any dark skinned female regardless of ancestry. A female of obvious African ancestry would usually be referred to as Negra or Negrita.

I only repeat myself bc rather than consider what I had to say it appears you prefer to lash out albeit unprovoked. Your choice of course, though I believe your biterness is misdirected. Afterall, based on today’s threads it’s apparent you’re having a rough go.

Nevertheless, to unjustifiably attack someone simply because they politely dispute what you’ve said is the epitome of rude.

In other words, get over yourself.

  31. Baho says:

    Michelle,

Wow, again, I’m flattered. You know me so well! Give my best to the critics and they can rest assured I’ll likely write something else from time to time for them to gather and shite on.

In the meantime, there are numerous people who like what I write. They just happen to be a lot more polite and self-restrained than my detractors. They certainly don’t go around calling people names like ‘paranoid’ and ‘c*nt’ and all manner of other nasty things.

    Yep, I’ve no complaints.
    Buona sera.

  32. michellle says:

    Baho-
    WOW, you’re really something.

I never claimed to know you, only responding to what you had said.

As for “gathering to shite on you”, I can assure you I have no such desire. Though, the statement in itself does appear to justify my point about seeming paranoid.

As for those who like what you write, I’m usually one of them. I’ve often enjoyed your sarcasm/wit & what sounded like a voice of reason in the AJ/JA/BP debates.

All the more reason why I was shocked to read your scathing repsonse when I merely commented on the whole morena thing. It was even prefaced; “to be fair” & I had not said anything unrestrained or impolite that merited being called rude. In fact, it was nothing more than an offering of opposing input. In all seriousness, I’d have thought a seemingly clever sort like yourself would engage in the debate, not lash out.

Above all, I’d like to know where & how exactly I’ve been guilty of name calling & other nasty behavior. I can certainly assure you I’ve never called you or anyone else a “c*nt” & I prefer you didn’t accuse me of such or even lump me into that catagory.

Like I said in my most recent Obama/Brown thread, it’s about dialogue, not an attack.

Either way, glad to see you’re branching out into italian.
    La lingua che io preferisco!
    (The language that I prefer.)
    ciao Baho

  33. Lola says:

Whomever said that she doesn’t “look African” is a fucking idiot and doesn’t realize that Africans come in many colors, bone structures, hair types, etc. There is more than one “African” phenotype. There are pure Africans with straight noses and wavy hair, there are Africans with light skin, etc. Africa is a HUGE continent, they don’t all look the same.

It’s obvious she has some African ancestry, like most “latinos”.

  34. Anna says:

“Rather, an easily tranlated language & latin based like our own.”

    Latin based? Since when?
English is a Germanic language. That means it’s based off of Proto-Germanic. Not Latin.
