eBay removes Kerry Katona’s breast implant from their website

The novelty of people auctioning off insanely weird crap on eBay will never be over. Remember that Jesus toast? Or maybe it was Mary toast, I forget. Then there was the guy that was auctioning off the ghost in his house. I’m still wondering if he had to catch the ghost to send it to the winner, or if he just sat down and had a heart-to-heart with it and convinced it to go. And let’s not forget Scarlett Johansson’s used tissue, which went for $5,300.

In fact celebrity items have long been a big hit on the auction site. And considering some of the disgusting stuff that’s gone up for auction in the past, I guess it shouldn’t be too horrifying that former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona put one of her 34GG breast implants up for bid – signed and everything. Unfortunately – or fortunately, depending on your opinion – eBay took out the implant… um, I mean took the auction down. But not because it was uncouth, but because Katona broke the rules.

British pop princess Kerry Katona had her breast implants removed on UK’s MTV last year, but hit headlines again last week when she placed one (autographed and all) on eBay apparently to raise funds for charity breastcancercampaign.org. While the 28-year-old’s intentions might have been honest, the 34GG fake filet caused too many legal issues for the world’s leading auction site.

“The implant was on eBay and I believe the idea was to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign,” a rep for the charity told Tarts. “However eBay have now taken the item off because people were putting fake bids in, £8 million ($11.34 million US) at one point.” But according to eBay it wasn’t bogus bidders that resulted in the item being removed, it was actually Katona who broke the rules.

“Our policy team weighed in and said that this auction was removed for the Charity Violation contained within the item description as there was no letter of written consent by eBay’s Office of the President to allow the item to be sold under our Charity guidelines,” an eBay rep told Tarts.

The famous female asset up-for-grabs was listed with the unsubstantiated and unauthorized caption “… any monies received by this auction will go to the charity Breast cancer campaign…” Katona initially announced the auction on her Facebook page and as it turns out she didn’t even inform the charity she planned to donate the funds toward. So was it all just a planned PR stunt by the “Atomic Kitten” and will she actually live up to her word and still use her plastic prop to raise money in another way?

It sounds like Katona either didn’t understand/research eBay’s rules, or she was up to something else. But in all fairness, they do have an insane amount of requirements – it’s very possible she didn’t know about their charity requirements. Though you’d think that with something as unusual as breast implants, she’d hire someone to do the auction, or go ahead and give it to the charity for them to auction off.

I checked on eBay and Kerry hasn’t relisted anything as of yet. Though there is a set of four implants for sale on the site, with the instructions, “Sample, not for implant,” and the suggestion that it’d make a “great conversation piece for your coffee table.” I don’t know about you, but I tend to put a dish of Jordan almonds on my coffee table, but I guess breast implants could do in a pinch.

Here’s Kerry Katona with Mark Croft at a party hosted by Liza Minelli’s ex, David Gest, at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool on January 9th. Images thanks to WENN.com.

I guess Tamra from “Real Housewives” is out of luck since she said on the reunion show she was placing hers on there.

^ It’s not that you can’t auction off your used breast implant on eBay (gross), it’s that Kerry Katona didn’t follow their rules for auctioning something when the proceeds are going to charity.
