Kim Richards of RHOBH arrested for public drunkenness, battery on police officer

Kim Richards, 50, of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was arrested early Thursday morning at the Beverly Hills Hotel for public drunkenness. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Richards refused to come out of the bathroom. She also swore at the officers and resisted arrest. Once she was at the station she was still so wasted she kicked an officer. She was given multiple charges including public drunkenness and battery on a police officer.

Richards went to rehab in 2011, which was reportedly at least her third try. In the early seasons of RHOBH, she was a total mess. She admitted to being on multiple prescription medications (Topamax, Lexapro and Trazodone), drank heavily and slurred her speech, even during the day. I haven’t been keeping up with RHOBH, but there was at least one episode this season where her co-stars questioned whether she was sober, and she admitted to taking a pain pill. She’s also been fighting with her sister, Kyle, as is typical. Late last year she had to send her pit bull away after he attacked multiple people. Here are the details on Richards’ arrest, from People:

According to a statement from the Beverly Hills Police Department, officers responded to “a report of a possible fight” at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday morning at 1:30 a.m. and took Richards into custody at 2:04 a.m.

Richards, 50, “was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest,” says the statement.

Additionally, Richards fled to the bathroom and refused to come out and, once at the station, kicked a police officer in the leg, though he was not injured.

Richards was released at 10:36 a.m. Thursday and was issued a citation charging her with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer. She is scheduled to appear at LAX Superior Court on May 10.

The Beverly Hills Hotel had no comment when reached by PEOPLE for a statement about the incident.

A source tells PEOPLE, “She’s always acting kooky, but that’s her personality, so it wasn’t necessarily obvious if she was drinking or anything again.”

In 2011, Richards spent time in rehab to address her issues with substance abuse. During the RHOBH reunion, Richards insisted that she was still sober despite having admittedly used a pain pill during the most recent season. “It is not a slip, and it is not a relapse,” she said, adding that her sobriety was the most important thing to her.

[From People]

Yeah, that sounds like Kim. People also has details on the Tweets that the RHOBH stars have sent in support of Kim. Brandi Glanville was only vague, tweeting “Real friends are their [sic] in the good times, the bad times &especially the worst times.” She also posted a blog entry on the finale, promoting her wine while trying to remain diplomatic toward the other housewives. You could smell the subtle shade she threw on the women she feuds with, though. It’s unclear if she wrote it before or after Richards’ arrest, but she had the nicest things to say about Kim, calling her a BFF and writing that she was “always here for you.” Lisa Rinna, Lisa Vanderpump and Eileen Davidson also tweeted words of support for Kim.

As for Kim’s sister, Kyle, she hasn’t said a thing except to tweet a rebuttal to Radar’s report that Kyle is “still refusing to speak” to Kim following her arrest. Kyle tweeted this:

Ok, well if Radar made that story up why didn’t Kyle tweet any kind of statement for her sister, even one asking for “privacy at this difficult time”? Just yesterday, prior to Kim’s arrest, Kyle told US that “nothing was resolved at the reunion” in regard to her relationship with Kim and that “Iโ€™m sad that it has come to this.” She did say that she loved her sister and nieces and nephew, but then a “source” told US “[Kim feels Kyle] cares more about doing a scene for the show and creating drama more than their actual relationship.” Kim is an addict and her dog attacked Kyle’s daughter, so despite how cold she can come across I’m starting to understand Kyle’s stance.

Its so Interesting to me as a woman of comor to see how she wasn’t Killed or anything for getting buck on an officer.. novel and refreshing and all โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿธ

    • dcs says:

      WHAT????

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Do you think the outcome would have been the same if Kim wasn’t a rich white woman from Beverly Hills? I don’t. I’m not saying she would necessarily be dead, but I doubt her behavior would have been handled so gently under different circumstances.

      • QQ says:

Thanks You GNAT.. besides Isnt that the implication/current trend every time the police kills a nobody of Color? Being high or drunk or belligerant usually becomes nice enough justification.. is just jarring seeing the difference in action so soon after so many “resisting arrest” black men

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

You make a valid point, QQ. There was no tasing here, much less any beating or shooting. It’s harder for law enforcement to consider violently restraining (or attacking for no reason at all) a prominent white woman, apparently, than any black male on the street
        .

    • Lindy79 says:

Yep, she’d have been tasered and had seven shades of shit kicked out of her on a good day and worse on a bad day.

      • Little Darling says:

That’s exactly my thought, she would have had her hair grabbed, dragged to the ground, brut force applied etc etc had she been a civilian on the street.

Actually, I don’t know. Police Brutality seems to favor men of color. I’m not sure how they would have acted with a WOC who was on tv. I bet the police just didn’t take her seriously enough to drag her around. She’s just a sad, drunk, belligerent woman. Clearly not a threat.

I don’t know. Police brutality is too real these days that it’s hard to tell. But overall I feel like men unfortunately get the worst of it.

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

        @Little Darling-
I don’t recall names, but there was recently in interracial *married* couple in the news- I think she was a tv personality- and she was harassed by a cop who thought she was a hooker soliciting a john. Guess the gender of the person of color?

      • Isabelle says:

Where I live one of our cops got suspended because he tased a 90lb woman claimed she was being aggressive. He was over 6 foot & weighed 200lbs plus. A big guy. What got him suspended he had done it before, tasered another woman. Tasered them after a routine traffic stop. Small white soccer moms were his bias. Do think certain officers have bias toward groups of people….and yes many of them have a bias against minorities. Seems the cops that get in trouble have patterns of being aggressive toward the same group of people.

      • Bridget says:

@antisocialbutterfly: that’s not really the best example, since pics were released that very strongly supported the complaint that she and her husband were actually having sex in the car, with the doors open, in the middle of the day. People in the surrounding neighborhood saw them and called in the complaint.

      • VirgiliaCoriolanus says:

        @AntiSocialButterfly
If it’s the same woman I’m thinking of, kind of a bad example. But she was a (black) actress (she played as the slave maid, Coco in QT’s Django Unchained–she opened the door at the club, when Django meets Calvin Candie)…I followed the story. She and her husband were having sex out in public. Still, I think it was their race (she’s black, he’s white) that made the cops/bystanders think that she was a hooker, but those two did themselves no favors. They were on FB/the media talking about how they weren’t doing anything, but holding hands, etc…..

    • givemeabreak says:

I’m going to say this and probably get a lot of replies back because no one else has the balls to do it. You are one of the problems. A rich, white woman was arrested for battery and being drunk and the first thing you do is pull the race card?!?!?! Please. Yes, there are definitely race issues and it makes me sick to my stomach to hear and see such things, but not EVERYTHING is about it! Not every case has to have that thrown in. She was an idiot, but if they had to use force with her, I don’t care if you’re black, white or purple with with white polka dots, don’t be an idiot around the police. Period. I’ve know people of color, not of color, Mexican and other races where they have had issues with the police and the outcome has gone both ways! Ugh. Sorry, it drives me crazy when people pull the race card for everything! ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜’

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Talk about missing the point. Do you watch the news? Have you noticed the number of people of color who have been shot and killed or choked and killed or beaten and killed while running away from police or surrendering to them? Do you think “acting like an idiot” is punishable by death? Without a trial or jury or conviction? Would you think QQ was “pulling the race card” if your son was shot and kill by the people who are supposed to protect us because he was being a typical belligerent teenager? QQ makes a very relevant point – Kim was behaving in a way that would have had VERY different results in a different neighborhood with a different skin color. So you may think you have “balls” to say this, but I think you’re too much of a coward to admit what’s really going on. Therefore, you are part of this very real problem.

      • dcs says:

I agree with you gimme. Had nothing to do with race until it was brought up in the comments section.

      • QQ says:

GNAT, stop making sense and seeing this through, you know we don’t feed trolls or the “colorblind” “No, all Lives Matter, you guys” folks … Like.. aren’t we up to once a weekend now?? THAT is why I brought it up cause it’s Goddamned Relevant to NOW, Some people clearly don’t wanna see or rather “forget” ^^^ and People still try to pull the “not everything is about race” this type of treatment Is a VERY REAL LIVE CONCERN to people like me and my family (men and women, any age!) where even a Bullshit Traffic Stop could be life changing and to see the blatant difference with which other people get treated in the midst of this daily hunt brings out the anger in me… but she is so brave putting her foot down on this cause it makes her so angry

        ffs

(yall saw the Today show bringing out that rich old dude that shot the man in Oklahoma and literally he was sittig there giving his “side” surrounded by his wife/million daughters whatever the fuck getting handed softballs by Matt Lauer)

      • Kitten says:

It’s so odd to me how people always say “don’t f*ck with police” as if people in law enforcement–people who have all the power in the world–have carte blanche to do whatever the f*ck they want.

I’m consistently shocked to see how low people’s standards are for police officers.

These are people who are supposed to PROTECT every American citizen. Their job is NOT to enforce power and control over people who frighten them. EVERY American citizen should be depending on the police to preserve their safety, not to fear that they will die by their hand.

I feel for PoC so much on this issue. I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be to feel like you’re a moving target for people who seem to have absolute power.

I also feel for good cops who are doing the right thing while operating in an incredibly corrupt construct and who unwittingly get lumped in with the aholes.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yes, QQ, I knew it was pointless. I really do think more and more people are waking up to the truth because people (like you) keep pointing it out, and of course, the news. It makes some, like the two above, uncomfortable, so they pull the “not everything is about race” statements, meaning “this is not my problem, it makes me uncomfortable, stop making me think about it, you’re the one with the problem” bs. Breath is wasted. But I feel a responsibility to say this is not ok with me. Not all police are bad, many of them are heroes, but Houston, we have a problem. If an officer cannot handle fear and stress without overreacting then he or she should not have that job. What’s happening is wrong. It has to stop.

      • Isabelle says:

“Don’t be an idiot” means obeying everything they command you to do? Cops have rules as well & here is the thing they need to follow them. We have to obey in order to not be idiots, well they need to obey their own laws so they aren’t idiots. Swings both ways. Oh & people protecting the law or wielding it actually have a big responsibility of following it. You know that whole with power comes responsibility thing.

      • PinaColada says:

Gimme, I see your point. Kim is a very small, older woman. The prominent cases right now involved MeV, young and strong and sometimes very large. It’s not a valid comparison.

      • Genny says:

Why is it that whenever race comes up the words “I don’t care if you’re green purple or insert color here” comes up? Way to deflect from the problem, which is that there aren’t green people but a whole lot of people of color facing these sorts if abuses. Pretty sure if you’re avoiding that part of the discussion, it’s you that’s the problem. Race cards are not pulled. Racism is still here. And it’s visible. Get your eyes checked.

      • The Other Katherine says:

Just wanted to give a big thumbs-up to Kitten’s comment upthread. And you’re right that, while obviously the problems of people who are brutalized by out-of-control cops are much worse, police brutality is also a huge problem for the police officers who are actually good eggs. The latter often find themselves intimidated (and, sometimes, out of a job) when they try to stand up to inappropriate, corrupt, or criminal behavior by their colleagues.

    • Pandy says:

Yeah, really. Awful to contemplate, but you do make a point QQ.

    • lila fowler says:

I was honestly going to post something similar. If a WOC had kicked an officer after refusing arrest, she would have at the very least been tasered. FFS. This country…

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

Seriously. If any other person had kicked an officer, they would have been slammed down. White *and* a celebutard? Pffft. Off easy.

    • Susan says:

This is Beverly Hills! Incidents like this, brawls outside clubs, the Biebs crew riding ATV’s down Rodeo Drive, the Kardasian parading and filming, old Britney antics? BHPD deal with this nincompoopery all day long. A 5′ tall female, drunk and belligerent Hilton sibling at the Polo Lounge is just another radio call.

    • Shambles says:

Appreciate the thoughtful commentary, QQ, GNAT.

    • noonenobodynowhere says:

I agree COMPLETELY on the more than disturbing treatment of white people vs. people of color in terms of the police. It is terrifying. I live in Charleston, SC, where the most recent shooting (8!!!!!! times in the BACK) occurred. It is terrifying what is happening. We all have to be aware and informed on these gross, murderous injustices. Sweeping it under the rug is enabling the police. If a black man had behaved the way Kim did, who knows what would have happened.

    • Asiyah says:

My thoughts exactly, QQ. First thing that crossed my mind: “if she were a black man, she’d be dead by now.”

    • Ashleydey80 says:

@QQ yep! If not dead, she would’ve been assaulted by officers for sure.

    • leidub311 says:

Yes, because as we all know, it’s ok to lump all police officers into one category and say they are all racist and out to get black people, because that’s the truth.

      • Jay says:

THANK YOU. A voice of reason. People conveniently forget about the thousands of traffic stops and arrests made by police that are perfectly by the books every day regardless of race.

      • ava7 says:

        Thank you!

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Nobody is doing that, Miss Fox News. Nice way to twist everyone’s words. Several people above, including me, stated that most police officers are not the problem, many are heroes and good people who protect us, but if you know anything at all about current events, which apparently you don’t, you would know that there have been far too many cases of excessive force by officers against young black males. Petty crimes punished by death. But, hey, you’re obviously not worried about that, so don’t trouble yourself to know the facts or actually read the comments. Just keep deflecting, refusing to face the fact that we have a problem, and living in your racist little world.

      • leidub311 says:

Wow, calling names is a really good way to make your point. I was replying to the original comment, not anyone else’s. Kudos to you for going around assuming everyone is racist! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • ava7 says:

Really? Has a “woman of comer” in Beverly Hills ever been killed for yelling at or kicking an officer at the police station? As far as I know, not a lot of cop killing goes on in BH, or by 50 yr. old white women, so is it a big surprise that the cop felt no need to overreact?

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

People stated that the results would have been different if she had a different skin color in A DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOOD. Can you people READ?

      • ava7 says:

Yeah, people are saying if she was a) in another neighborhood b) was a completely different race c) was a male instead of a female….then she woulda been dead! How is that a cogent argument? Cops react when they are afraid a situation will turn bad and violent. I’m stating that she was in BH, a place where cop killing doesn’t happen, she is white, and cops aren’t usually killed by whites, and she is a tiny woman, not a man, and there aren’t too many women cop killer, so the cop had no reason to be afraid she was going to hurt him.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Because you miss the point entirely. But if it makes you feel better to ignore what’s going on, hey, go for it. Pretend there’s no difference in the way blacks and whites are treated by the police. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing. So do nothing. And look at yourself in the mirror every day and deny that the problem is you.

  2. Jen says:

As unlikeable as I find Kim, I’ll never forget what Roger Ebert said about addiction: “for addicts, using has long ceased being any form of pleasure and is a sentence.” I feel horrible for her children.

  3. Silvie says:

Kim is only 50 years old but can easily pass for 60. Is it the drinking? Too thin? Too much sun damage? She looks so frail.

  4. Cleveland girl says:

Kim has been a BEAST all season, blaming everyone else for all of her problems and taking no responsibility for her actions. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for her to get help. But I know she will find some way to blame this whole mess on Kyle.

    • Judyk says:

I’ve liked Kim this season and have found her the rational one, much to my surprise. Kyle is manipulative, controlling and less than truthful. I totally disagree w/ your assessment. And Lisa Rinna needs to mind her own business…simply cannot stand her…love the way she talks out of both sides of her mouth.

HOWEVER, it does appear that Kim has now definitely fallen off the wagon and returned to the “old Kim”…very sad and disappointed to read this story.

      • Cleveland girl says:

Lol. I don’t think we were watching the same season!

      • Just me and my bobby McGee says:

I’ve felt the same, Judy. The way Rinna made Kim’s sobriety (or lack thereof) her storyline was disgusting to me. If you truly care, you don’t make it your storyline. You handle it privately. Addiction is not for entertainment purposes. Furthermore, did Rinna even know Kim like that?

Honestly, after the awful comments I’ve read written about Kim this season – attacking everything from her appearance to her intellect, I’m not surprised she fell off the wagon. The whole season has been a witch hunt. What’s the freakin point if no matter how hard you try, people who don’t even know you crucify you? The internet should be ashamed of itself. As should the entire cast of RHOBH. Most especially Lisa Rinna.

The whole entire show is complete and utter trash anymore. TRASH. I used to watch every week. I won’t be watching again. #disgusted

      • jaye says:

I think you were watching the bizarro version of this season.

      • Judyk says:

Thanks “Just me and my bobby McGee”–I agree with every single word you wrote.

It’s pure trash and with Lisa Rinna publicly talking about her pubic hair and admitting to using the “F” word more than anyone else in the cast (Andy Cohen confirmed it) and her over-the-top glass-throwing drama leaves me just SICK of the whole Housewives debacle.

        I won’t be watching again, either. #disgusted2

  5. Tracy says:

I too feel for her kids, who have been damaged, I’m sure, by growing up in an alcoholic household. If Kim never drinks again, or never takes another pill, her kids will still pay that price the rest of their lives as that damage will impact every relationship and coping skill they have. It’s a life sentence for them. Kim is so belligerent, has so many issues about her resentment of her sister (no doubt from childhood), that Kyle can’t possibly help her. Best for Kyle to “love her from afar” and just protect herself and her family from being splattered by Kim’s disease. It’s all up to Kim. That Big Kathy must have been one sick woman.

    • missy says:

I read on a gossip site yrs ago when Parasite was so popular that Big Kathy taught her girls to marry rich and sent them to learn how to do BJ’s and stuff… Always thought it was BS but I do wonder now!

    • Mo2 says:

”ย …her kids will still pay that price the rest of their lives as that damage will impact every relationship and coping skill they have. Itโ€™s a life sentence for them.ย ”

Boy have you hit that hail on the head.

Thanks for the remindet that the addict/alcoholic’ behavior while using affects at least 10 other peoples lives.

  6. cannibell says:

Sad for her, sad for her family. That’s all I’ve got.

  7. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I was rooting for her sobriety. I stopped watching RHOBH a couple of years ago, but I’m sad to hear this.

    • Bridget says:

I find it next to impossible to root for Kim (or Kyle) in any way. For her children’s sake I hope she can clean up her act, but she is such a nasty, nasty person.

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

I think both those women are nearly equally pathological, in different ways. And despite what was apparently a narcissistic, manipulative and dysfunctional home, neither Kyle nor Kathy display the same extreme behavior. I cannot help but wonder if the Hollywood pedophile ring (allegedly) victimized Kim. The damage runs soooo deep in her. Kyle has many times alluded to ,”things Kim doesn’t want to talk about/family matters”… she outed Kim as an alchy a couple years ago, so surely she is not referring to that. Keeping secrets is the name of the game those women learned, according to at least Kyle. Don’t recovering addicts say, ” You are only as sick as your secrets”?
I feel terribly sorry for Kim. Something really dark is eating her insides.

      • Bridget says:

Big Kathy really screwed up her kids, but just because Kyle and Kathy put on a better veneer doesn’t mean that they’re significantly better adjusted. They spent their lives chasing fame, money, and men – the ultimate goal of the Richards women was to marry money and to be famous. A lot of what we see in Kim is the child actor curse; she was the breadwinner in that family at a young age, and shouldered that adult responsibility without the emotional maturity needed. When that early fame faded, she was left without any real life skills aside from finding a wealthy husband, and you can see it in her as an adult today. She has an almost pathological inability to take any responsibility for herself and her actions. She’s horribly mean and vicious, and is more concerned with hoarding her grievances than ever healing herself. That whole shenanigan with the Palm Springs house that Kyle supposedly swindled her on? Fabrication.

Part of the reason why they talk so much about “family business” and secrets is that Big Kathy taught them to not talk about their dirt to outsiders. Look at what kind of person “Little Kathy” Hilton is – she’s spent her adult life partying, shoving her daughters into a spotlight that eluded her herself, and still trying to bask in whatever modicum of fame that comes from being a Hilton. She’s an awful person. And I think Kim is horribly jealous of Kyle, who ended up by far the best adjusted of the 3 Richards women and bucked the trend by marrying a 2nd husband who she actually loves, instead of marrying money, while Kim is left broke and miserable.

      • Gg says:

Done with RHOBH!!! Kim should have been off the show a long time ago, if not never on to begin with! There’s nothing entertaining about watching someone struggle with addiction. And Kyle and Kim’s issues are equally not entertaining!
That was the ONLY plot line this season, I felt totally gross watching it. Won’t make the mistake again!

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

        Bridget,
My first sentence indicated I thought they were nearly equivalently pathological.

I have seen that Kim, like her dog, is prone to biting. From what we are learning about Hollywood’s child abuse scandal, it is no small stretch to consider abuse as a child actor could be fueling her anger and long- failed substance abuse.
Her behaviors are much bigger than the bruised ego of a former child “star”…I’m not even sure if that is an accurate label…wasn’t she really only transiently well know for Witch Mountain?

      • Bridget says:

Here’s my point: it *could* be sexual abuse, but I don’t think it’s the only explanation for Kim’s awfulness. She was a pretty successful child actress (successful enough that she supported their family for a while) and I think a lot of what we see is intense bitterness that just rotted her from the inside out. For a long time Kim Richards had everything – money, fame, a wealthy husband – but in the grand tradition of successful child performers she never had to be accountable for her actions until the cushion of her fame and money disappeared.

    • ncboudicca says:

Me, too. She’s close to my age, and when I look at her, I still see that young actress in “Escape to Witch Mountain”, and it makes me sad that she’s turned out this way.

    • Pandy says:

I just started watching RHOBH this year and it was ALL about Kim. Quite boring, actually, but rather satisfying to see all the drama she created prove false.

  8. Kiddo says:

I don’t watch any reality tv, but I’m curious, who is/was she the wife of? Keith Richards?

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She and her sister Kim were childhood stars. I think Richards was her maiden name. I don’t remember either of them. It’s kind of sad, because Kim still thinks she’s famous since the occasional person remembers an old movie. They grew up in Beverly Hills.

Keith Richards was not involved that I know of.

      • Mo2 says:

“Keith Richards was not involved that I know of.”
Best line of the day. It made me lol…

    • Bridget says:

Kim is actually an unmarried Housewife. The Richards sisters (Kim & Kyle) were both very successful child actors (Kim was in Escape from Witch Mountain) but up until the Housewives franchise were best known for being related to their other sister Kathy Hilton. The Richards family is a nasty piece of work.

    • Abbott says:

Kim is a former child star and sister to Kyle (another castmember) and Kathy Hilton (mother of Paris). Three (four?) times married and divorced to wealthy men, just like her mother raised them. Their mother was the prototype for Kris Jenner.

    • Kiddo says:

Thanks everybody! You guys are better than Google.

    • MG says:

No, I think Richards is her maiden name. She was an actress back in the day, when she was a child. She appeared in Witch Mountain or something like that, a little before my time. Her sister Kyle was in Halloween (greatest horror movie ever!) and their sister is Kathy Hilton (Paris’s mom).

      • The Original G says:

Isn’t Kyle’s real problem, that she was never a tenth as successful as Kim was at acting?

  9. Little Darling says:

The saddest part is that she was hiding in the bathroom. You know she knew she would be blown out of the water for this and it seemed to me that her hiding was more about not wanting people to know than not wanting to be arrested.

I feel for her. Baby’s got sauce and it doesn’t do her any good at this point, but she can’t seem to stay away. When you watch yourself back on TV and continuously see yourself slurring/wasted/crying and that alone doesn’t knock you sober, you’re probably dealing with bigger Demons than are apparent.

    • AntiSocialButterfly says:

I agree 100%, and responded in a more detailed fashion to Bridget, above.

  10. The Original G says:

Well Kim has been going through a difficult time with her ex-huband and *real* closest friend having cancer. Those stresses can be hard for the best of us to take. I’m thinking that being on this show doesn’t help either.

As for Kyle. I do think that she thrives on these RHOBH story lines.

    • Bridget says:

Kim Richards will find every excuse in the book for why her sobriety isn’t going well, because that woman was clearly not sober in the first place. It’s a bad, bad sign when someone’s sobriety is a forbidden topic, as well not acknowledging that stealing a pain pill is very much a relapse.

      • Angie says:

ITA. I also wanted to add, I used to pity Kim and dislike Kyle. Poor vulnerable sweet goofy Kim and her bitch drama queen mean girl sister Kyle.
Not after this season. I’ve done a total 180.
My eyes have been opened to the hell it must be to have an addict sibling.
Deflection, blame, veiled threats, outright attacks. Kim’s been a monster and has gone after anyone that dared to show the tiniest bit of empathy for her.
More like poor Kyle, poor Kim’s children and someone please get sick, toxic Kim into rehab.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

As I said above, I stopped watching a couple of years ago, but even then I thought Kyle had to withdraw a little from Kim because of Kim’s addiction. When she was very drunk, she would say horrible things to Kyle and accuse her of all sorts of vile things. Then she would be sober and just act like nothing happened. I know from experience that, even if you love someone very much, you can only take so much of that before you have to save yourself.

      • Judyk says:

@ Bridget: For those of you who are not currently watching, you couldn’t possibly know what’s been going on. Kim had been sober for three years until she slipped by taking a pain pill of her ex-husband’s…the result was not attractive for Kim. However, she DID ACKNOWLEDGE a number of times that she made a mistake and that she should never have taken the pain pill.

I’m making no excuses for Kim for her behavior at the restaurant where she was arrested.

@ The Original G: So agree that Kyle thrives on the story lines and making herself the Martyr.

      • Bridget says:

I watched JudyK. That was not someone who is taking responsibility for her own sobriety – she tries to turn it around and put the burden on everyone else. And frankly, the only evidence we have of her being sober prior to her “slip up” (which she won’t even refer to as a relapse) is her own word. We’re really supposed to believe that someone who would steal a pain pill from her dying ex, on camera no less, would only do it once?

      • Angie says:

I totally agree with @Bridget and yes I watched this season too..
I suspect that Kim thought of herself as sober because she’s not DRINKING but she’s taking pills (at least one but I bet more), patches (per her buddy Brandi), etc. Moreover, her behavior has NOT been consistent with someone who is in a program at all. No accountability for her own actions. Attacking and deflecting. I was sickened when she tried to use her own children as a shield.
In short, she’s a dry drunk.
There’s been no witch hunt. She has exhibited the behavior of an addict, is a known alcoholic and she was questioned on it. That’s her fault and noone else’s fault. No one forced her to fall off the wagon. She needs to take responsibility for her actions, go into rehab, get a sponsor, get into a program, let go of grievances like that stupid house she won’t shut up about and start working through the issues that must be torturing her.

When I initially heard this story I was just sad.
But I have to say, blaming Bravo and Lisa vanderpump made me lose my pity for her and just see her as the abusive toxic alcoholic she is.
My pity is reserved for her family who’ve had to deal with this crap for years.

  11. HK9 says:

I watch RHOBH and I’ve been hoping for the best regarding Kim’s sobriety. However, since my Dad was a functional alcoholic for years, I got a bad vibe from her this season. While it makes me sad that she’s had a relapse, I’m not surprised. One of the few sensible things Brandi said this season is “you’re sober until you’re not” and now that she’s not, she can do something about it.

While I think Kyle is shallow and high-maintenance, all three sisters are and she’s been dealing with Kim’s issues all her life, so I’m not going to judge her behaviour, I just hope Kim gets better.

(BTW: Can someone tell me why Kim’s daughter is having another wedding???!!?? I thought they were already married???)

    • Lozface says:

Apparently the first wedding was a small quickly organised one at Kathy Hilton’s house, so that her dad was well enough to walk her down the aisle. The second wedding is the original planned big wedding.

I’m way too invested in all this… Oh the shame!

      • HK9 says:

Thanks for the info!! (I swear you guys know just about everything ) And yes, I too am invested in this show and wonder about that allll the time. ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. lila fowler says:

How will she blame Kyle for this, is what I want to know. You know she will find a way. This woman is all about the excuses and never takes accountability for her own actions–ever.

    • Angie says:

TMZ has a new story up.
Apparently she’s blaming life stresses (e.g., Monty’s illness, Kimberley’s 2nd wedding, etc) BRAVO and get this LISA VANDERPUMP .
I knew she’d refuse to take responsibility for her actions but this is “impressive” for her..

  13. Jenn K says:

I cant stand kyle! Team Kim all the way. Hope she gets better soon!

  14. lowercaselois says:

I can’t watch that show anymore the women are so nasty and vicious with each other. I am surprised Eileen Davidson is on the show because she has had a successful career as Daytime Soap Opera star and Lisa Rinna why is she on there also. Her and Harry Hamlin have stayed out of the public eye for awhile, why put your personal life out there?

  15. Jk says:

You know it so easy for you all to judge Kyle…go team Kim? Poor Kyle has been dealing with her sisters addictions, lies and drama her whole life. Being a sister of an addict, I feel for Kyle. She is damned if she does, she is damned if she doesn’t….just like me. Addiction is a disease that affects the whole family. Sometimes after years of begging and pleading you have to just wash your hands of it and walk away. It was the most difficult decision I ever had to make but had to do it for the safety and sanity of my family. Kyle should do the same.

    • someone says:

I agree. Kyle has my sympathy for dealing with Kim’s crazy. And for Kim to be mad at Kyle for talking about her dog biting Kyle’s daughter — that’s so wrong. Kim can try to blame it in her niece all she wants but long story short – her dog did it! No one is obligated to hide that for Kim.

    • Susan says:

Totally agree. Kyle’s emotions seemed real. Kim clearly knows how to manipulate Kyle and throw out words that she is sensitive to. Eliminating Kyle or the other Housewives from the equation, Kim’s life is in turmoil. The health of her ex and child, the lawsuits over her dog, her personal addiction have nothing to do with her sister. This woman should clearly step off tv and out of the public eye.

    • Angie says:

I completely agree and I have to say I’m surprised I feel this way now. I really disliked Kyle in prior seasons and felt pity for Kim. Kim seemed so vulnerable and sweet. Kyle seemed insensitive and dismissive of Kim.
But after seeing Kim manipulate, deflect, threaten, show zero empathy, and outright attack Kyle and people who want to help her? I get it. I understand how hellish it must be for someone to deal with an alcoholic sibling.
I now wonder if some of Kyle’s drama queen’itis is related to the emotional yo-yo of dealing with Kim.

  16. someone says:

I’m hoping for a new version of RHOBH with Lisa RInna, Eileen, Lisa VanderPump, and Denise RIchards. Kyle can stay too. Just dump Brandi and Kim and pull in Denise Richards. That would be epic!

  17. Susan says:

I feel so sad for Kim’s children, and Kyle’s family as a whole. The gossip game continues with new bits post arrest blaming Lisa Vanderpump and Lisa Rhinna involving themselves in the family dynamics. I don’t believe this for a second. The women probably have little interaction with each other after filming. If the “source close to Kim” is speaking to the press, it’s probably Brandi, one of her fan camp or viewer haters of both women. It was clear Kyle saw Kim imploding; a family can only do so much to help someone before the toxicity bleeds over to thier personal life.

  18. floridaseaturtle says:

I feel bad for Kim. This is bad news. As far as the history between the sisters, I just think that neither is in touch with the real world, and I do not mean that in a finger-pointy way. On that note, I am saddened/(sickened really), when either of the sisters bring up their mother, as if she was a nurturing / kind person. Many sources indicate that she was anything but that. Crap really.

    • MadMenluv says:

what a horrible thing to say, the woman was still their mother and she passed away. they can bring her up and say all of the wonderful things they want about her! their not allowed to say good things about their own mother because you heard things from “many sources”?

      • Bridget says:

Read up on Big Kathy before you make that commentary. That woman was awful and there’s a reason why all 3 of her daughters are pretty nasty pieces of work.

  19. Mike says:

Of course she was… she needs to renew her Bravo contract for the next season, right? She is due to a raise probably, after this new ‘development’.

A girl’s gotta work. This is her work… as sad as it may appear to the rest of us.

  20. Isabelle says:

Well its probably a good thing for her that she got arrested. Rich people get arrested they end up going to rehab because they can afford it & do it to ‘clean’ up their image. It will at least maybe get her back into treatment.

  21. MsGilley says:

Someone please get this woman the help she needs and help her find peace. ๐Ÿ™

  22. Colette says:

I missed the reunion what was the secret Kim had about Lisa’s husband, Harry Hamlin?

    • Kiyoshigirl says:

She ended up not having the nerve to say anything. Bravo blew that angle out of proportion. No surprise there.

    • jenn12 says:

The rumor is that Harry Hamlin is gay and their marriage is a sham.

  23. Jayna says:

The throwing a fit in the bar, unruly, drunk, locking herself in the bathroom, being dragged out by police officers, kicking a police officer, this type of drunken/high behavior is what Kyle has put up with all of her life, and the family members get the brunt of their irrational anger and behavior and also their victimhood when they try to help year after year.

I noticed this season Kim blames Kyle, never once praising her for all she’s put her through, and she lies by saying she never once struggled after getting out of rehab. She’s been in and out of rehab her whole life and it never sticks and she goes back and gets out and has no follow-up care, no alcoholic support group, no sober mentor, no ongoing counseling, and she never struggled for three years?

All she does is lie and people stay silent.

Brandi is a sh t stirrer and was the worst thing to happen to Kim on this show, using her for her own devices. And that tweet was all about Brandi. I have real friends. I am a real friend.
I, I, I. How about focusing on Kim?

    • jenn12 says:

Mmmm. Perhaps Kim’s own sister could show some concern when her own friend tries to choke Kim and threw a glass at her? Or tell her that she doesn’t know Kim, so please stop using fake concern as a storyline, since addiction is serious? Or nicely tell said friend that posting pictures of a warrior holding up Medusa’s head and saying it’s Kim should not be done? It’s rough to have an addict and/or mentally ill person in the family. But to allow it be used as a storyline and let other people attack your sibling means you’re a crappy sibling, not that the addiction is your fault.

  24. Mo2 says:

The show is toxic. She should get out of it and work on her sobriety. You can’t do that on TV in front of millions. Look at all those who died after being on Celebrity Rehab. Also the reunion show made me want to drink and I’ve been sober for 25 yrs!

  25. LilyT says:

BRAVO QQ! THANK YOU! Thank you for immediately bringing up such an important and relevant topic. Police brutality against people of color is tragedy and should not be allowed to be ignored.
This was an excellent example of what white privilege is and how it functions in what can be life or death situations. It’s real whether people want to accept it or not.
