I feel like there are too many country music awards shows. Does anyone else feel the same way? Perhaps the country music people think there are too many awards shows for pop music though (they would also be right). Anyway, last night the Academy of Country Music Awards were held in Arlington, Texas. The big winners? Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert and current reigning king of bro-country, Luke Bryan. I actually thought Miranda Lambert looked really great last night in this silvery Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2015 gown. Miranda has consistent styling issues, and since her weight has been in flux the past few years, I feel like she’s been having issues finding clothes that flatter her figure. I think this look is flattering without defaulting to the tried-and-true “country” look.
The most Southern girl to ever Southern, Reese Witherspoon, was there with Sofia Vergara. They’ve been making the rounds ahead of the release of their comedy. Reese wore David Koma Fall 2015 but I don’t have an ID on Sofia’s dress. I don’t like Reese’s David Koma though – too stiff!
Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline. Are you into Luke? I am not. He reminds me of a lot of douchebags I grew up with.
Kacey Musgraves in Monique Lhuillier. Very girly, very feminine, a little too “sweet” for a grown woman.
Jana Kramer in Jay Godfrey. Is it wrong to think Jana was the best dressed of the night?

Not the best but it’s pretty good. Not digging the fake makeup cleavage she rocking though. She would have looked perfect without it.

Why are those two even there and they are so completely annoying. I don’t like Miranda’s dress. It makes her look chunkier than she really is. She has a great figure when dressed properly. Just my opinion.
@Paola, Agreed. Have you seen the trailer for their movie? OMG, it looks soooooooo BAD! I love Sofia on MF, but she plays the same “character” in everything. Reese…I can take her or leave her. I lover her earlier work, but not so much these days (although I haven’t seen Wild yet, so maybe that will change).
I LOVE Miranda’s gown. It’s different enough to stand out at a country show but still fits the aesthetic. It also fits her like a glove, which always helps. Seriously I think I’m drooling a little. I’d kill to play dress-up in that thing and pretend I’m rich for a night. (Autocorrect didn’t fix “rich” immediately, it was “rixy”. I think rixy needs to be a word now.) Also, her hair looks great at that length.
Yes that color is everything. Agree with the Vergara and Reese duo looking forced. Also thought that dudes wife was the suspended anchor woman – so interchangeable.
Love Miranda’s styling– the hair and makeup are so hot. Reese can’t even pose without being pretentious (must cross one leg in front of other; such georgia peach, much southern belle). Something about Luke is kinda meh, but I do really like the black suit with the slightly unbuttoned collar. It’s a sexy look on a slightly less sexy man, but he does have a very distinctive voice.
Miranda’s dress is not the worst, but it does something weird to her boobs. It’s taking the “lift and separate” waaaay too far.
On a different note, I’m sick of her winning everything, and then not ever mentioning her husband. If he wasn’t on the Voice, she would not have anywhere near the career she has. Just saying.
Granted I don’t follow country music, but I knew who she was before they even got married and before he got the show. It might help her that he’s on the Voice, but it seemed like they were already on the path to success.
oh she is definitely talented, but not enough to win every award at every award show. That just happens to perpetuate the Country Royalty picture which would not happen without the Voice.
Anyway, I’m not a huge country fan either, so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about.
I think the weird boob thing is partially because it looks like they drew in her cleavage and the shading is a little heavy handed.
Hmm. Don’t really like Blake but she was successful for years before they got together and he was too before the voice.
Miranda lamberts dress, particularly the top section with the multiple sloppy cut outs, is a tacky mess. However, the skirt has beautiful movement. Kacey’s dress is beautiful; pretty colour, beading, and cut.
I agree! Miranda lost weight recently and looks great, but the cut of the bodice makes her look boxy. The color is amazing on her though and I love her hair and makeup.
You’re right Veronica, very unflattering, plus the top portion looks like it’s being held together with a shoelace.
Miranda’s boobs look kinda droopy and overly contoured with makeup, and the dress makes her look like she doesn’t have much of a waist. (But, maybe I’m overly attentive to that because I’m boxy and don’t have much of a waist either). Her hair and makeup are super gorgeous tho.
And seriously, the number of country music awards is RIDICULOUS. I feel like it’s every few weeks! It feels so self-congratulatory. Do the awards even actually mean anything when it’s the same people receiving them over and over every few months?

Scarlet – I have to agree with your comment on Miranda’s boobs. I think the dress is smashing them and that is definitely too much contouring makeup. People seem to be going over board with that these days!
I don’t think Lambert’s dress flatters her, either. Shoot me, but I will probably check out Reese and Sofia’s movie. I like the cut of Reese’s dress, but it does look like a stiff tent.
Luke Bryan’s wife’s dress is stunning! Now the too tan and too blonde look is a bit much, but that blue and the fit are hard to beat.

I don’t know much about Luke, but I hate his type of country music. All about trucks and girls ( who never have a name).
That is why Kacey Musgraves is so refreshing, not many country stars talk about gay issues or weed or poverty.
Reba knocks it out of the park yet again! That woman looks great for her age. I think she is in her arly sixties now. I like Miranda but I don’t likethe cut of that dress on her. I thnk she is too short for it and not long waisted enough But her hair and makeup and the color of that dress are right on. I only watched about 15 minute of it before I moved on to other things but it looked iike a fun show without any grandtanding like what happened at the Emmys.
Is it just me, or does Kacey Musgraves look just a smidge like Lea Michele in that picture? Also Luke Bryan’s wife looks like she just walked off the stage at the Miss USA pageant.

This is some of the better styling I’ve seen at a country awards show, but Miranda’s dress falls short for me. The illusion netting is just ruining the sex appeal of the plunge. And it crushes me to say that because she is awesome.
(Do we feel the lipstick is too blue toned of a pink? I feel like a warmer tone would have worked with her features better.)
The top of Miranda’s dress is not flattering. The bottom of the dress and the way the skirt flows is very pretty, but from how she’s holding her purse in every picture it looks like she’s not comfortable how high the slit is.

Love Miranda but her dress isn’t quite right – it’s good but something is off. But at least it is different. As for Luke – I agree. There’s something about his face that makes me suspect, although I like a few of his songs. As for Reese and Sofia, I’m glad to see more female buddy cop movies and it looks cute enough that I’ll see it, but it doesn’t look anywhere as good as the Heat, or Spy or Trainwreck, which are the two summer movies I’m most looking forward to!!
Why do they keep pushing Reese and Vergera on us through the country music channels? Vergera isn’t anything to do with country and Reese isn’t country – she’s southern – a belle maybe, but country she aint.
