Jessa Duggar is finally pregnant, six months after her wedding (gasp!)

jessa2

Someone in the Duggar family always has to be pregnant. That’s the rule. Just two weeks after Jill Duggar-Dillard welcomed her first child (son Israel) with husband Derick Dillard, Jessa Duggar-Seewald has announced her first pregnancy. Jessa and Ben Seewald married last November… and then nothing. I kept waiting for the pregnancy announcement, because that’s how the Duggars roll. They get knocked up right away, preferably on the honeymoon. But Jessa was the “wild child” and she didn’t get pregnant right away. Instead, she French kissed her husband in photos (like a wanton harlot) and was even rumored to be on the Pill. Well, I guess Ben finally put his foot down and demanded that Jessa get pregnant, because here we go.

“We’re expecting!” Jessa Duggar, 22, tells PEOPLE. “We are so excited. The due date is November first, our wedding anniversary.” Adds Ben, 19, “We are looking forward to being parents.”

The third daughter born to Jim Bob, 49, and Michelle Duggar, 48, and her husband, the oldest of seven Seewald children, revealed their happy news as Jessa enters her second trimester.

“I am feeling pretty good,” says Jessa. “The morning sickness was different every day. It’s getting better, but I’m still hanging on to the heartburn. And I don’t have any super-serious food cravings.”

Before church one Sunday morning, Jessa says she took a pregnancy test and brought it in to show Ben. “I said, ‘Hey Ben, guess what? Yeah, you’re a dad.’ We couldn’t believe it,” Jessa says. “We are so excited. We have started talking baby names. It is one of those things that is so special, picking a name for a baby.”

The couple revealed their plans to adopt in an exclusive at-home interview – and now say their plans haven’t changed just because they are expecting a child.

“Our hearts haven’t changed on adoption,” Jessa says. (The agency the couple has contacted requires prospective parents to be married for two years before adopting.) “We are still making plans.”

But Ben says that they are taking time to enjoy their happy news.

“We are trying to take it one day at a time,” he says. “We pray every night that God helps us be good parents. We are getting advice from other parents.”

Jessa’s older sister Jill Dillard, 23, and her husband, Derick, 26, welcomed son Israel David on April 6 after a 70-hour labor. Jill, a student midwife, “has all the knowledge and training,” Jessa says.

“I am not comparing, not worrying about what could happen, we are just getting prepared,” Jessa says. “I think having this first year together to share our lives, just the two of us, has been special. We are definitely excited to be parents.”

[From People]

So she’s about three months along already. So she did get knocked up about three months after her wedding. Which is no big deal, except in the Duggar family, where “waiting a few months to enjoy married life” is absolutely frowned upon. I also think it’s interesting that Jessa is still interested in adoption, and that she still believes that they’ll adopt once they’ve been married for two years. In any case, congrats to Jessa and Ben. And good luck, baby Duggar-Seewald (you’re going to need all the luck in the world).

Windy but beautiful evening on Tybee Island beach just before sunset! 🌅❤️

    Enough about these people.

    • crab says:

Ya I agree! These people make me sick!

    • Snazzy says:

      Agreed

    • Judyk says:

      OMG, +1 zillion.

    • Dani2 says:

      I agree, I feel like I can’t escape them.

      • Sabrine says:

People runs a story about them every single day. It’s nauseating because it’s not interesting. It’s nothing new. All they do is breed. They talk about traveling the world to do missionary work, but with a baby every year their lives are laid out for them right at home, diapers and more diapers.

      • Megan says:

Seriously. They hustle harder than the Kardashians and Middletons put together.

    • DEB says:

Welcome to the beginning of your life as a brood mare. “Side-hugging” must be miles away from actually finally getting to have missionary sex. Wow.

    • msw says:

That’s why I don’t usually click on Kardashian articles, ha ha. I don’t want to encourage them.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Having babies is a business for them. To me it’s like prostitution, where sex is about the money it will eventually bring you, and it degrades and oppresses women. This family disgusts me.

    • VirgiliaCoriolanus says:

I do hope the kids will move away from the whole…enterprise, but I’m not holding my breath, seeing as they’re all involved in various side ventures, etc.

If they weren’t on tv, I’d be more realistic. I know this one evangelical family where the wife got her tubes tied after four kids (and having had the first three in the NICU for at least a month because of health problems of the mother, DURING the pregnancy)……and her husband is a total boob (I never say I “hate” someone, but if I was gonna, HE’D be that person), and he comes from eleven kids, she from ten, and they both wanted to have that many. But they FINALLY realized that having kidney stones for three straight pregnancies isn’t a good thing, and to let it go.

      @Mrs.Krabapple
Agree. They’re not celebrating starting a family….they’re celebrating furthering their brand/beliefs. It’s not about being happy, it’s about doing what they’re supposed to do, to look like the right kind of people.

Why are young people so egged to have children? Live a little

    • cubfan34 says:

She’s really big for 3 months. Duggar boards speculating it may be twins.

    • Erinn says:

I swear, this is the year of pregnancy. Just at work/immediate family alone:

2 babies under 4 months to coworkers
      1 pregnant boss
3 coworkers who will be dads between October and December (one might be twins)
1 pregnant sister in law (YAY first niece [even though her mother is way too young in my eyes]!)

And I’m just sitting here with my depo, trying to not incite any rage from any of them. I’m turning 25 next month – honestly, if I was more financially set, I think I’d be ready to have a kid right now. The husband is kind of on the same idea – it’d be fun to be our age and have a child, and have them through school before we were ‘old’. But in reality, it’s going to be much more a case of waiting until I’m at least 28 I’d assume. Unless he gets his journeyman license sooner and starts making full wages.

      • Francesca says:

Erinn – do it now while you are still young and have energy. The finances will work themselves out. Signed, Old and Tired Mom

      • Audrey says:

Wait! I had the baby bug when I was younger too. But my husband and I decided to wait. Just enjoy each other, work and save money. We had our daughter when I was around 27 after waiting 2-3 years

It feels so so amazing to not worry about money while pregnant or dealing with a newborn. I had friends who were financially stressed constantly and still are because kids are expensive.

I get to just enjoy my daughter. We’re not rich, we just have a stable financial plan and healthy savings

      • JuneLou says:

From another older mum, I say definitely WAIT! I’m so glad I had my 20s to myself/with my partner. I’m a way better mum now than I would have been in my 20s: wiser, more mature, more laid-back, secure, no regrets. You’re going to be tired regardless.

      • Erinn says:

Francesca – the energy level is exactly what I worry about. But thinking back, my dad would have been almost 32 when I was born, and I’m the oldest. And the man has always been super energetic, so hopefully I’ll manage that. He might have had to nap occasionally but then he was ready to jump back up and take us to the beach, or play soccer or whatever.

I figure by my late 20’s or early 30’s we’ll start trying – if things magically balance out better financially before then, we might adjust the time line. I figure 27 at the earliest. If something happened before then, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but financially I’d like to have a few more things sorted out. We’re not at a make or break situation, but it’d be nice to have a little more buffer.

    • Nicolette says:

They don’t seem to have a choice in this family. It’s all about marriage and babies, and babies, and more babies. Having family is wonderful but these girls have been made to think that’s all they are good for. Sorry, they just scream cult to me.

    • Trillion says:

Had my first child at 42. Couldn’t have planned it any better than that. My 20’s and 30’s were crazy rich with travel, playing in bands, trying different lines of work and living in different countries -just and full of options and inhibitions. Now I’m in my 40’s and I am healthier than ever but have financial stability, the marriage I never thought I’d have, and plenty of energy and wisdom for my little dude. It just ain’t our grannies’ 42.

  3. Size Does Matter says:

It is conceivable (heh) that there will continuously be a pregnant Duggar or Duggar wife for the next 40 years.

  4. Sarah says:

She’s so pretty. That is all.

    • Loulou says:

She’s annoying but yes, very pretty.

      • Isa says:

Sometimes I think she’s so pretty. Other times I think she looks like a skull. Either way, she’s not nearly as pretty as she thinks she is.

    • Andrea says:

Did you see the photo on People’s website? She was completely and totally un-airbrushed. She looked really bad. Her skin is awful!

  5. Elisabeth says:

it’s kind of funny that all the kids get pregnant within the first year of marriage and the parents waited 5 years before having their first

    • sally says:

I had no idea! that’s hilarious.

    • launicaangelina says:

Were the Duggar parents pretty open that they were on birth control at the beginning of the marriage. Michelle got pregnant and miscarried their first baby. This led to the shift of completely eliminating BC and into the quiverfull lifestyle.

      • Lucky Charm says:

Josh was the first, then she went back on birth control and a few months later miscarried. Their doctor said the pill caused it, so that’s when they decided that birth control would never go near a Duggar ever again. Please don’t ask me why I know this, haha!

  6. Ana says:

So when she said they wanted to wait, she was already pregnant…at least one month into it. Did they know and still sold the “We want to wait to have babies” story?

    • Jules says:

Are you implying that they would lie to make a dollar? Knock me down with a feather. Do the husbands that Duggar picks our for his daughter’s actually work?

      • Ana says:

Ha! I guess what someone over Dlisted commented yesterday is right on: The Duggars are the Christian Kardashians. I mean they even do that whole names starting with ‘J’ thing…

    • wiffie says:

One month pregnant means 2 weeks pregnant in reality because pregnancy is dated from first day of last period. When you conceive, you’re “2 weeks along”, so 2 weeks after that, she could have likely not even gotten a positive test yet. Most test positive around time of missed period or later.

      • Ana says:

Hmmm, I see. To be honest I know basically nothing about this kind of thing, so I really appreciate your input 🙂

    • Audrey says:

She probably didn’t want to steal her sister’s spotlight.

She really does look big if you look at the US weekly picture. I wonder if it is twins.

Do they do ultrasounds in this weird family?

      • Ana says:

If she did, that’d be nice of her. She does look big. Not that I know about pregnant bellies.

They probably do a million ultrasounds actually lol 2d, 3d…lol

      • Lucky Charm says:

My money’s on Jim Bob didn’t want her stealing the spotlight from his darling Jill. Even though it was perfectly fine that Jill just had to take all the attention away from Jessa’s engagement, and announce her pregnancy the minute it happened.

I’m happy for them and wish them congratulations and best wishes, but at the same time this does make me sad. I was really hoping, for Ben and Jessa’s sakes, that they would wait until they were at least married a year before even getting pregnant. Jessa isn’t working, and Ben is a teenager, is still attending community college and his only employment is doing odd jobs/handyman work for Jim Bob. They need to have a chance to learn who they are as individuals before starting a family.

  7. truthSF says:

WHAT?! Six whole months before she finally got pregnant? Talk about bringing shame to that Duggar’s name. So disappointing. 🙁

    • Moneypenny says:

Seriously. Poor dear probably thought she was barren.

    • LNG says:

Well, to be fair to Jessa, she is 12 weeks pregnant, so it only took three months to get pregnant. Slightly less shame to the Duggar name, haha. (but no honeymoon baby like the other one, so she definitely loses the Duggar procreation contest).

      • Lucky Charm says:

No, Josh and Anna lost that contest. They were married for FOUR whole entire months before Anna got pregnant. The boys are 24 months apart, which meant that she didn’t get pregnant until Michael was about 15 months old, and she should have been delivering a baby by then. And Marcus and the new baby will be a whopping 25 months apart in age. Josh and Anna are seriously slacking, lol!

  8. Lilacflowers says:

Does either one of these soon-to-be parents have an actual job to provide income for this child or is it to be supported from a share of the profits of a television show that could be canceled at any time?

    • chaine says:

I quote, “Ben, 19”–probably not. He could get on at Burger King, or as a stocker at Wal-Mart, maybe? Hopefully they are getting some good reality tv money.

      • burnsie says:

Plus I don’t think he even finished community college (I could be wrong, but I doubt it)

  9. jferber says:

I still feel bad for the daughter the Duggar parents made Cinderella in her own home. What’s her name? The one who is indentured to taking care of at least a dozen younger Duggars while the parents go gallivanting (I so love that word) wherever? Free that girl! Let’s start a petition.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

Poor Jana. I feel for her, I really do. Her younger sisters are getting married and getting out of a house where they have to raise about a million kids for their lazy, do-nothing mother while she’s still stuck at home raising kids she didn’t ask for.

    • LizLemonGotMarried says:

Supposedly, she is getting out. She’s been looking at Christian colleges and wants to go to college and have a career.

I’m embarrassed that I know this, but I read this at 2AM when I was so anxious over our second showing today (please let this house sell so I can reunite my family) and I had exhausted all other viable news, including old John Oliver LWTs.

    • Lurker says:

I have a theory about Jana. I think she’s playing the long game. If she’s like her sisters and gets married, she will turn into yet another Duggar baby machine and be stuck in a life of diapers and drudgery forever. If she sticks around home and avoids the marriage thing, she will eventually be free (or freer) because all those Duggar kids are growing up and won’t need a caregiver. After all, Josie is the youngest, and she’s 5. And Michelle’s uterus has clearly said “no more, you crazy lady.”

Also, I am sad I know so much about these people.

    • Franca says:

I think she did court but didn’t want to maryy the guy. So at least they didn’t force her. And apparently she’s going to college soon. Her twin also isn’t married, no?

But Josiah is courting, and I think his gf is half Hispanic?

      • Lurker says:

No, John isn’t married either and you’d think he’d be a ‘catch’ for all those poor Fundy-bot girls.

  10. Elisabeth says:

Do you think they started talking adoption because they were so shocked that they didn’t get pregnant on the honeymoon?

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

Knowing the stories about Duggar children’s education, I wouldn’t be surprised if their parents taught them that not getting pregnant in the first few weeks equals infertility or that if their first child won’t be born in the first year of marriage, they won’t ever be able to have children.

    • LNG says:

I’m shocked that they talked adoption at all, because it is seriously frowned upon by their cult.

    • Lori says:

Is it really that easy for a pair of uneducated 20 year olds to adopt? I thought people waited for years to get a baby thru adoption?

  11. paola says:

CAn you imagine if a member of this whacko family comes out with fertility issues?!
My god they would exile them and make them feel useless human being just because they can’t procreate.
This family is everything I am against in life.

  12. Jenns says:

19 and he’s going to be a father. These kids know nothing else but going from raising their siblings to raising their own children. It almost makes me feel sorry for them. Almost.

  13. Stephanie says:

I am so, so over these people.

Celebitches, if you had to be trapped on a desert island with a Kardashian or a Duggar, who would you choose? Lol 😝😝😝

    • Jen43 says:

I would want to be trapped with that oldest Duggar girl. I would spend all of my time talking her into going to college far away from her family.

    • Nicolette says:

A Duggar. Which one I can’t say because I don’t watch their show, it’s nauseating. At least it would be someone to talk to. A Kardashian would be too busy taking selfies and then crying uncontrollably when their battery died and they couldn’t take anymore.

      • Kitten says:

Talk about Jesus incessantly day in and day out and how I’m going to Hell because I’m an atheist?
HELL NO. Kardashian all the way. Maybe Kourtney because she seems like the least annoying and moderately intelligent of the bunch.

      • Moneypenny says:

I’m with Kitten. I can’t talk to someone all day about their crazy views on Jesus, Christianity and guns. Bitchy Khloe would probably be the best with an added bonus of the ass of lies making a decent pillow.

    • chaine says:

Rob Kardashian. Because he would go find a dark cave and hide in it and refuse to come out, so I wouldn’t have to deal with him at all.

    • ab says:

khloe would probably be a good time on a deserted island, she’d find a way to make cocktails out of coconuts or whatever. but a duggar would be more industrious. someone’s got to build a shelter and go fishing.

      • Tarsha says:

Lol, makes me think of the computer game Virtual Villagers. Lol that reminds me, I’ve got 2 tribes I want to finish.

      • lisa says:

im thinking the duggar girls would make pickles from seaweed and all sorts of fruit snacks

they’d be too tired to bore me about their cult. id maybe get them to curse.

    • Jenns says:

Neither. I would swim the f*#k out of there and take my chances on getting eaten by a shark.

    • Hazel says:

Kardashians–for their crazy, anything goes conversation. Duggars have limited conversational abilities.

    • Trillion says:

I’d pick the Kardashians because I’d be afraid a Duggar would just pray for something to happen instead of actually doing something.

  14. Talie says:

You cannot escape news about these people anywhere now. They’re like the Kardashians of Middle America.

    • Talie: get a grip! The Duggars are peculiar people, but don’t compare them to scum kartrashians.

      • Talie says:

Chile, I’ll take the Kardashians over them any day!

      • DTX says:

        @im tellin ya
You’re right! They’re worse! At least the K’s don’t spend countless hours campaigning against women’s rights & shaming females who have terminated pregnancies (for reasons that are not their fking business at all!)

I don’t like the K’s but they aren’t directly harming anyone but themselves. The moron kids doing the Kylie Jenner challenge created that nonsense on their own & she quickly discouraged it. They’re not innocents or anything but they don’t tell anyone to go out and vote against other people’s constitutional rights and “save lives” while posing with assault rifles “in the name of Jesus”.

  15. Shambles says:

I’m amazed that she’s pregnant because he still doesn’t look like he wants to be within bible’s length of her.
OT: where in the heyull did they find a spot on Tybee island beach to take a scenic picture?! I was there two weeks ago and it was panama-city packed.

  16. polonoscopy says:

It upsets me so so so much that many States don’t allow married gay couples to adopt but tell a media-whoring, 21 year old cult member and her 19 year old husband to “wait two years”.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

THIS. I know several gay and lesbian couples who are raising terrific children. I would trust them to adopt children way more than I would trust any Duggar or Quiverfull member!

  17. Goats on the Roof says:

Did this bit of news actually surprise anyone here? I knew the birth control story was bogus from the get-go. Jim Bob hand selects these men for his daughters to ensure they believe and will act as he does. Even if Jessa had wanted to go on BC, Ben probably would have shut her down and trapped her in a prayer closet for a couple weeks to atone.

    • Franca says:

I doubt Ben could have done anything. I doubt this was Ben’s decision. It’s pretty clear who is the boss in their relationship, and it ain’t Ben.

  18. Kiddo says:

    Ahhh AHHH AHHHHH AHHHH AHHHHHHH*

*operatic scale, sung by choir in church, denoting heavenly happenings .

  19. Sam says:

The thing is that they’re totally going to win. If we know anything about belief systems, it’s that the baby-makers will inherit the earth. There was just a new report that came out that tries to predict religious trends in the next 50 to 100 years, and it was emphatic in it’s analysis that the future belongs to those faiths that can make the most babies. That’s why Islam is exploding, why Mormonism is continuing a dramatic increase, why Judaism will eventually become totally Orthodox and why the report says secularism will contract severely in most places.

I dislike the Duggars, but I certainly can appreciate people who totally get that the future belongs to people who can simply breed the most. They know it and they’re completely unabashed about pursing that with everything they have. At least they’re transparent.

    • Kiddo says:

It should be a blast when all the religions get together and fight over dwindling natural resources, like water.

      • Duchess of Corolla says:

        +1,000,000

      • Sam says:

Eh. I’m not convinced the “natural resource” apocalypse is coming. The larger problem is the uneven distribution of the resources. The First world (North America, Europe) consumes a bizarrely disproportionate share of the world’s food, water and other resources. The resources aren’t really “dwindling” in the sense you mean it. The amount of water on the planet is pretty stable – the problem is that it’s not being equitably distributed.

The upside is that the largest consumers are the very nations that are dwindling the most – Europe especially. That creates some hope, in my mind, that emerging economies that historically were denied access to resources will be able to take them back.

So basically, I think it’s a bit more of an issue of unequal distribution and less of “dwindling resources.” Even Food Not Bombs states outright that there is no real “food shortage.” The Earth produces more than enough food to feed the current populace – the problem is that the food isn’t reaching everybody. We also are overly reliant on animal agriculture, whereas we should be trending much closer to vegetarianism, but try telling most standard Americans that.

      • chaine says:

Hopefully we’ll all be long dead by then.

      • Kitten says:

        LOL, chaine!

      • Kiddo says:

Yeah, a place where the only survivors left are those who try to out ‘better’, judge and punish each other through sanctimony or god wars sounds remarkably like hell.

      • Kitten says:

*grabs canned goods and climbs into Bramhall’s hair*

      • Sam says:

Kiddo, your statement is at odds with what is actually going on. You bemoan the future that will result from increasing religiosity but don’t address the actual, largest problem – secularism’s falting fertility rates. If one is truly committed to trying to create a less religious future, then the data seem to suggest that we’re really going about it the wrong way. The data we have is pretty clear: most people will keep the religious/non-religious beliefs of their parents. Although converts exist, the majority of people don’t. They stay in the same group they’re born into.

I never get when people complain so strongly about the Duggars when it’s very clear that these people (and those like them) are going to win because they are the ones who are creating substantial numbers of descendants who will eventually go on to shape the future. Whether we like it or not, evolution set the game up in favor of the baby-makers. It sucks.

That’s the biggest thing that perplexes me about secular people. They’re generally quite nice and I don’t take issue with them, but I never understand when they talk about “advancing secularism.” They can talk and promote it all they want, but most of them, if they have any children at all, have 1 (maybe 2). It’s rare to see them have 3 or more kids. And I feel bad for them on some level, because all the data is suggesting that all the talk and advocacy in the world will never overcome good old-fashioned reproduction tactics. And that’s what people like the Duggars know. They know that all it takes is lots of babies and time.

Think about it – if each of the Duggars has, on average, 10 kids (let’s cut them a break), Jim Bob and Michelle will be the grandparents of almost 200 people, and great-grandparents to almost 2,000. Extrapolate that across a few generations and you’ll soon have enough Duggars to create a small sovereign state. And add in the other Quiverfuls (like the the Bates’s and some others) and you’re talking a huge number of people. You’re talking a voting bloc. It’s the same thing the Mormons know, that the Muslims know, that Orthodox Jews know. You simply aren’t going to beat sheer numbers. I see so many people rage against it – and I totally understand – but it feels like it’s an exercise in extreme futility. They’ve already won, and they know it. The problem is that nobody really seems willing to counter them.

      • Kiddo says:

I don’t need to have my DNA on Earth in perpetuity. There are too many humans already. Who is advancing secularism? When I’m gone, I’m gone. What I say in the here and now may speak to tomorrow but one day I won’t be around to hear the echos of it. What do they win exactly? More time for destruction. Have at it.

      • Kitten says:

        “Advancing secularism”?
That’s a term that I’ve only ever heard in the context of religious people bemoaning separation of church and state.

I think most secular people don’t GAF about whether religious baby-makers inherit the earth after we’re gone.

      • Kiddo says:

Hear hear, Kitten! Can I getta Bramhall, amen!

      • LNG says:

All of that also assumes that all of the Duggar descendants will buy into the cult and remain religious to the same level as Jim Bob and Michelle are. Many of them will, for sure, but I actually don’t know how likely it is to be maintained over generations. Look at the number of people now who come from religious families but do not identify as religious themselves (this is obviously purely observational on my part, I haven’t studied this at all). Also, it isn’t getting any easier to support families that large, and the reality tv show money train isn’t going to last forever.

Also – I agree with Kitten and Kiddo. Not concerned about what happens after I’m gone since once you’re gone, you’re gone as far as I’m concerned. Definitely not having 20 kids to try to cancel out the Duggar legacy.

      • littlestar says:

Ahhhhhhhmeeeeeeeeen (sang like an Orthodox priest).

      • Kiddo says:

littlestar, I got chills and goose bumps.

  20. JuneLou says:

Man, it’s bad enough they get married so very young, but what about traveling, having time to enjoy and get to know your spouse, sharing a few holidays and making traditions together before starting on babies?

I’m convinced these people are all working for the “brand”, and none of this stuff has anything to do with religion. Shame on the elder Duggar’s for stripping their kids of first their privacy and childhoods and now their agency in adulthood, all in the name of fame and money.

  21. Silvie says:

I live in the Midwest and there are college-educated professionals who have 6, 7, even 10 kids. They are very proud of their large family size, treat it as a brand. You will hear people say “she’s a Collins,” or “he’s a Martin.”
It also boosts their ego to have a McMansion, 1/2 dozen kids who they all send to pricey Christian/Catholic schools and play select sports.
Yes, they all live way beyond their means.

    • Jonesy says:

In my part of the Midwest, that’s called “being Catholic.” It’s insane.

    • Franca says:

That’s really weird. My country is around 90 % Catholic, but people very rarely have more than 2 kids. Having more than 4 is almost unheard of. We’re also dying out.

      • EHM says:

        It’s the Irish Catholics

      • Lucky Charm says:

I have uncle’s closer to my age than they are to my dad, first cousins who are younger than my kids, and grandchildren older than most of my cousin’s kids. The generations are all blurred in my large Irish Catholic family tree! 🙂 I have only one cousin older than me, and by just a few months. His son is nine and my oldest granddaughter will be nine next month.

  22. JKL says:

That guy looks like Jamie Kennedy.

  23. PoppyAdair says:

My gaydar is strong with this guy. I just don’t buy this marriage at all.

When I look back at the person I was at 19 or 22, I am so grateful I was smart enough to realize that marriage and a baby were not good options for me. Then again, I would have never wanted to marry an undereducated, underemployed boy dependent on family for everything.

    • BlueNailsBetty says:

Right??? He pings my gaydar so hard.

      • The Other Pinky says:

Same. He pings hard! But then I’m generally suspicious of men who are overly religious. It’s the perfect place to hide who you are.

    • Brenda says:

She seems to be the one in control of the relationship. In that cult…er, I mean, religion…the woman is supposed to be the submissive one in the marriage. For some reason I feel it’s reversed with them and she’s the dominant one. Even when you see them kissing, it almost looks like she’s forcing her kisses on him. Maybe it is that he is gay. I don’t know, but something seems off about their relationship.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

That’s because their whole relationship and resulting breeding is part of HER family’s business, it’s what they make money off of. It’s sold to the public as a product. That’s why she’s in charge – she is inheriting her family’s business, and he’s the employee.

    • Malificent says:

Statistically, at least one or two of the Duggar children are gay. When I get past my amused bwa-ha-ha chuckle, I feel sorry for them. I don’t see any unconditional love and acceptance happening in their futures.

  24. Duchess of Corolla says:

Just what the world needs…more Duggars. 🙁

Why not wait before having children? Take more time to grow up. My spouse and I waited 12 years before having a child, and we don’t regret it in the least. I think waiting made us appreciate parenthood all the more. JMO.

  25. Cankles says:

I’ve never watched this show and know almost nothing about these people, so maybe someone can help me out: are they required by their faith to have bum-length hair? Is it a religious thing? I just want to hack off about six inches of her hair in that top picture–those ends are fried. If she’s not allowed to cut it, I’d like to suggest a deep conditioner.

    • Sam says:

Among deeply fundamentalist Christians, most women have long hair because long hair is seen as distinctly “feminine.” While there is no direct admonishment to keep their hair long, many of them associate short hair with lesbianism or “trying to act male.” Keeping the hair long is a sign of femininity and submission to the womanly role.

    • Kitten says:

Really? I think her hair is gorgeous.

Oh, and yeah, the long hair is a Quiverfull thing–the women are not allowed to cut their hair.

I remember reading that one of the Duggar girls said that they have long hair because their “father likes it”. So creepy and gross.

  26. Murphy says:

Just FYI: Someone was preg between Jill and Jessa, their SIL Anna Duggar has been pregnant since November.

  27. Lucy says:

I feel so, so sorry for all the babies that will come out of this family.

  28. Tarsha says:

She looks very far advanced in the pregnancy on the People cover that can be seen on the Sandra Bullock article. Much more than 3 months. More like 7 months.

    • EHM says:

I was just going to say that – I thought she was about 5 months
maybe it’s twins dear lord NO!

      • Deb says:

Either that, or the bun was already in the oven on the wedding day, and she’s going to give birth to biggest “preemie” you’ve ever seen.

  29. Harryg says:

I completely confused these two with some other Duggars who just got a baby (?).

  30. McMe says:

This is a bit off topic, but, the sister who just had the baby had a cesarian. Does this mean she’s exempt from popping out a baby per year?

    • Lurker says:

Depends if they follow doctors orders. You’re supposed to wait 18 months after a c-section, but their drive to populate the planet with Fundy-bots may override that. Michelle has had at least 2 sections…I wonder how long she waited. Ugh, I may google to find out.

      • Lurker says:

I looked it up (I need a life). Michelle has had 13 vaginal births and 4 c-sections. She had Josh naturally, Jana and John David by c-section (they are twins), 13 VBAC, and 3 more sections. Checking birthdates, she did not wait the 18 months after her sections to get pregnant, as the last two kids – Jordyn and Josie, were born well before the sibling prior to them was 18 months old. So, Jill should be ready (in Duggar terms) for baby #2 pretty soon! GROSS.

      • LNG says:

I’m interested to see how this plays out, actually, because your chances of a successful VBAC are much greater if you wait longer. She will want to have a VBAC, no doubt, and will want to have as many kids as possible. The risks of a VBAC too soon or repeated c-sections gets higher with every pregnancy, so not waiting long enough could seriously limit the number of kids she is able to have. Waiting longer will probably allow her to have more kids in the long run. This may be overruled by the whole “god will decide how many kids we have” regardless of the danger for Jill, but she has received at least some training as a midwife, so hopefully will have a bit more insight into the risks than Michelle did. Who knows.

      • Lurker says:

I have read that her midwife training is not real, proper training from an accredited school but it’s more like online/Bible training to be a lay midwife. So who knows if she’s getting accurate information about birth, or just what the fundy overlords believe (like that nonsense about abstaining X number of days after a girl and X number after a boy, etc).

Also, since the kids are now married (Jill and Jessa) and out on their own, is their internet access still redonk restricted like it was at home? Or can they access the actual world if they dared?

      • LNG says:

Oh, its definitely not college training to be a certified registered midwife, but you can take training to become a “lay midwife” in Arkansas, which is what she is doing. You can actually see that Jill and Jana are both “Lay Midwife” Apprentices listed on the department of health website if you google it.

To get your license you have to have a high school diploma or GED, be immunized, have CPR training, meet practical experience requirements and pass a licensing exam administered by the Department of Health. So she should be getting at least some accurate and practical information, but who knows. I’m sure everything they learn is somewhat tainted by their beliefs.

I don’t know if they get any more access to the real world once they’re out of the house. There certainly would be less of the constant supervision so they’d have more chances if they wanted to.

  31. Carmen says:

These people don’t seem to know how to do anything but breed.

  32. LMB says:

Jeez, what took them so long? :-p

  33. littlestar says:

Given how terrified he looks of her in pictures, I’m surprised he managed to find the right hole to put it in.

  34. meme says:

This country will be crawling with Kartrashians and Dullards in a decade.

  35. pirategirl says:

I guess I’m the only one here that will say something nice, congrats to them both. I don’t bash or judge their lifestyle or religious choices, and glad that in this country we do all still have the right to religion. The way things are going, one day there may not be such freedom of choice.

  36. amp122076 says:

I bet she’ll be a good mom. I still have a weird feeling about him – something not quite right.

  37. Coco says:

I really hope the standards for adoption aren’t so low that babies will be placed with a much too young, uneducated couple with no life experience outside their families who will insist on depriving them of an education and raise any girls as child mothers to the next baby.

These kids should be going out into the world and seeing what life has to offer but they’re so brainwashed they’re terrified of eternal damnation to even imagine it . No child deserves that environment.

    • pirategirl says:

There are so many kids that need homes. Are you saying that a young couple couldn’t possibly give a good home to a child that needs it and should just stay in foster care? I don’t think that is fair viewpoint. I want to adopt one day myself, and I hope that I will be given that chance. I would rather give a child a home that needs in, than get pregnant and have one that way.

  38. Janna says:

Wow, a lot of judgment coming from some of you defending your own choices. I love having babies and being a mom, so I don’t have a problem with them starting so young at all. I had my first at 25 and am pregnant with my fourth (and last) at 34, and I’m really glad I started in my 20s. I had plenty of time to have fun and travel, and I will have plenty of time to do that when my kids are older (plus we take vacations without our kids sometimes, imagine that!) Good for them! There’s nothing wrong with being a young mother, it’s actually what nature intended. Some people believe that there’s more to life than career, work, money, freedom, and that’s just fine.

  39. lucy says:

    STOP

The world needs no more Duggars.

The Duggars need birth control and self-control.

Earth needs no more Duggar news.

    STOP

  40. Megan says:

I was 21 with my first and 23 with my second. We had a surprise bonus baby when i was 30. I was a way, way more energetic mom when I was in my early 20s. I don’t regret a thing. Congrats to them!

    • Brenda says:

Same here. I was 22, 24 and 29 with mine. I always say having one toddler in my 30’s was more exhausting than having two in my 20’s!

  41. racer says:

There is nothing appealing about being responsible for another human being- to me. For them, I hope she has a great healthy pregnancy and enjoys her new family. I genuinely wish them happiness and prosperity!

  42. Lindy79 says:

I don’t have any problems with them having kids young or whatever. I do however have a problem with their religious judgmental attitudes about everything that is different to the way they choose to live.

Oh and one of the douchey husbands trying to run a cat over on sled and thinking it was funny and also lying about it.
