Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen at the Met Gala: one of the prettiest looks?

This is my last Met Gala post! So, these are sort of the stragglers that didn’t fit in anywhere else. Here’s Anna Wintour’s daughter Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen. This is honestly one of the prettiest gowns on the carpet.

Here’s my girl Linda Evangelista, in what I think might be Moschino, but I might be wrong. I kind of feel like this is a more Indian-inspired look than Chinese-influenced. I think that’s why she’s doing it in red and black, although I’m still seeing “sari”. Also worth noting: her itty-bitty bangs (trauma).

Claire Danes in Valentino Fall 2014 Couture. The dress has no Chinese influence, it’s boring and her makeup is WAY too dark.

Liu Wen in Michael Kors. Pretty and appropriate.

Kate Beckinsale in custom Diane Von Furstenberg. Beckinsale is like Elizabeth Hurley and Victoria Beckham – they always wear the same basic dress, styled the same way, and it’s SO BORING.

Gigi Hadid in Diane Von Furstenberg. I think Gigi is so pretty, but this looks sort of cheap. I think it probably looked better in person, but it doesn’t photograph very well.

Kate Mara in Diane Von Furstenberg. I actually like this a lot, I just wish Kate and her sister Rooney would be able to walk a red carpet without looking like they’re about to cry.

Eddie Redmayne & his wife Hannah Bagshawe. She’s in Valentino. Her look has nothing to do with the theme and it’s a pretty boring dress to boot. I don’t understand why it always looks like she’s not wearing makeup to formal events? I’m all for an “undone” look, but if you’re at the Met Gala, put some lipstick on. Eddie looks nice though.

    Bee for best dressed!

  2. Santia says:

LOVE Bee’s dress. Gorgeous. Also, I disagree about Eddie Redmayne’s wife, I can see a Chinese influence in the styling of the gown.

  3. Kiddo says:

I don’t care if Claire Danes’ dress doesn’t fit the theme. This is one of the best looks for her ever.

    • Shambles says:

+ 1, Claire is a knockout here. I think the dark lips are amazing on her, actually. They look striking with her coloring.

    • mia girl says:

I agree! I really love, love, love this dress.

    • Beatrix says:

      Agreed! She looks incredible.

    • Imo says:

I read the caption twice because I wasn’t sure it was her. Best look ever for her in my book.

    • Kitten says:

Right? I love that dress on her! I’m not wild about the dark makeup but it doesn’t detract from the whole look for me.

      She looks awesome IMO.

    • **sighs** says:

      +6

    • Lucy2 says:

I like Claire’s dress too. She often looks slightly awkward to me on the red carpet, but this dress is great. Her make up is weird though.

    Bee Shaffer is Beautiful!!
    She´s glowing.
    Lovely outfit too.

Hair comments: Linda’s bangs are a 10 out of 10 on the bangs trauma scale. I’m feeling extremely traumatized just looking at them. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Gigi has beautiful hair. I really like the cut and the style. Does anyone know if she wears extensions or not?

Unrelated: Hannah does not look into it at all, which is perfectly understandable. I googled and she’s a publicist, which seems like it would require a tolerance for public events, but maybe this just isn’t her thing?

    • jenna says:

Her bangs just look like part of her hair style pulled forward for the night. Hopefully. It would be too bad if she had cut bangs that short

      • Kristen says:

Yeah, they’re not actually bangs – it’s the end of her ponytail bun smoothed down over her forehead. Which may actually be worse – b/c who asks for a combover??

  6. lemon says:

Bee’s middle part accentuates the asymmetry of her hairline, it’s driving me a little batty. Other than that, beautiful dress.

  7. OTHER RENEE says:

Bee wins the night for best dress, best use of theme, and best overall look.

  8. paranormalgirl says:

Good Lord, those bangs on Linda are terrible. My kid did that to herself once when she was like 6.

  9. jen2 says:

Shaffer and Bingbing were the best for me. Colorful, theme appropriate and classy. There needs to be a full shot of Shaffer’s train to really appreciate the beauty of the train. Rihanna wins for best high drama.

  10. Greek chic says:

Is Linda pregnant or she just put on weight?

Bee’s dress is pretty but I’m not crazy about it.
Liu wen is beautiful! Claire looks great too.
Kate Mara gets on my nerves for some reason.

  11. melissa says:

Bee looks awesome. Her mom looked ridiculous when I saw on DM

  12. maeliz says:

    I love Bees dress

  13. Tig says:

Bee’s hands down is the best gown- best entrance is Rhianna-but learning the fur trim is real fur- ugh. Looks like McQueen is getting its groove back. Kate M’s dress was lovely as well.

    • LAK says:

That’s vintage McQueen she’s wearing. Mcqueen’s slide to mediocrity continues.

  14. Lola says:

Loved Bee’s dress, same with Kate and Hannah’s.

  15. Imo says:

    Kate Beckinsale is posing hard.
Bee’s dress is stunning but frowny face at the tweeking.
    Linda, just no.

  16. Jayna says:

Bee’s gown is absolutely stunning and on point.

  17. claire says:

Loved Bee’s dress. She’s definitely at the top of the list for best of the night. As for Hannah…I love her dress. I think it’s really pretty and interesting.

  18. grace says:

Gigi Hadid has got to be one of the worst dressed of the evening. Sooooo boring. Linda Evangelista needs to lay off the botox and fillers. She’s looking way too “done.” Aging sucks.

  19. aurelia says:

Everybody else can go home. Its offical, Bee was the best dressed of the night. So elegant, its painful. Perfection.

Honourable mention: Anne hathaway, kate becksinsale and I hate to admit Kendal J.

  20. aurelia says:

Honourable mention part 2: Kate Hudson and that asian chick wearing the cape.

Worse dressed list: anybody wearing a head piece.

  21. Lucy2 says:

    Bee’s dress is gorgeous.
