Did Amal Clooney buy George a Porsche 911 for his 54th birthday?

I think we can safely say that Amal Clooney is a big hit in New York. And George Clooney seems fine with that. Maybe that was the point of all of this. George wanted his “equal,” someone who could be a “star” in different social settings, so he wouldn’t have to take “my girlfriend, the former wrestler” to big events. George has smoothed Amal’s path in New York society and to pay him back, Amal allegedly bought George a very special gift for his 54th birthday today: a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Amal Clooney is treating husband George to the ultimate boy toy for his birthday – a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The actor, who turns 54 on Wednesday, recently took a test drive in the £135,000 car, which is the latest model off the production line. And lawyer Amal has reportedly arranged to buy George one of the first available in the US to replace the star’s Porsche 911. The four-litre, 200mph motor will share a garage with his prized 1959 red and white Chevrolet Corvette.

A family source said: “George loves his cars. They have to be stylish and fast, and he always has two.”

They added: “Amal has been looking for the right car for him to replace his black Porsche 911 and the new one is much faster. He’s already test-driven it for his birthday present.”

Amal, 37, is also buying George a smoothie maker – “a big one apparently because he’s obsessed with his smoothies of all descriptions,” the source said. “George has had health issues, a lot of operations on his neck, and he finds the smoothies very soothing.”

“That’s in between the Casamigos Tequilas,” they joked, adding Clooney “finds fast cars soothing, too.”

[From Mirror UK]

I’m obviously out of touch with all the new-fangled kitchen equipment, but isn’t a “smoothie maker” just a blender? I just Googled “smoothie maker” and yeah… most of them are just fancy blenders. You can get the specialty smoothie makers, which look like they’re mostly for commercial use, so maybe that’s what she’s getting George. She probably doesn’t know because she never cooks or does anything in the kitchen?

As for the Porsche and George’s “health issues”… I really do wonder about his health. I tease George about a lot of stuff, but sometimes I see photos of him where he looks like he’s in genuine pain with his back and neck and I really feel sorry for him. And don’t Porsches have bucket seats? That’s going to be hell for George to get into and out of his new Porsche.

And now I have an Amal emoji 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

    • Santia says:

That’s what Michael K (dlisted) called her, too, when he saw the dress. To me, it’s more Spaniard (flamenco) than Chinese.

    • Ladybird83 says:

Poor George looks about 5 years older than 54.

  2. Nan says:

Amal’s eye makeup is so much more flattering here – she doesn’t need tons of it, she looks better when her eye makeup doesn’t take over her face.

  3. Santolina says:

It looks like the bottom of the dress was added on as an afterthought to cover up her spindly legs. Plus, it’s a Galliano. I haven’t “welcomed him back.”

  4. jen2 says:

Her posture!!! I just can’t with her slouching. The clothes would look so much better if she stood up straight. It can’t be because she would be taller than GC. Stacy towered over him and she always seemed statuesque while standing up straight.

      +1
My neck and back ache just from looking at Amal (so I can only imagine how George feels).

  5. emmet says:

Is this the short way to rich widowhood? Spike his smoothie with tequila and send him off in his fast car?

  6. Christin says:

The ‘family source’ even tosses in the boys’ product placement at the end.

    Gross

Bleh. Rich people being rich. I don’t wanna hear this right now.

    • Birdix says:

sour grapes here in San Francisco! who needs a new car? my 1995 model still runs fine (mostly).

  9. Angel says:

Never understand these reports of really big ticket items for rich spouses. If he wanted a new car he would buy one, and pick it out himself. Maybe I’m projecting, I’m not rich (Ha!) but my husband doesn’t surprise me with big presents because we both are at an age where we are done with making due, we want to get exactly the one we want. Clooney has nice things but he never seems like the 20 cars and house full of toys type – I call BS on this report.

  10. angel says:

I didn’t know Amal had it like that, to be able to afford to buy Georgie a porsche!!! Or is it that what was his (bank account), is not her’s? hmmmm….

  11. siri says:

If this was true, it’s uncaring. He already WALKS with pain, so how would he enjoy a fast ride in a car with the seats almost on the ground? You barely get in, and have to ‘roll’ out. The smoothie maker makes more sense. As for Amal being a ‘big hit’ in New York, I doubt that. I would call it wishful thinking on their part;-) She isn’t gonna ‘happen’ just by having some journalists/paps on the Clooney/Alamuddin payroll.

    • Christin says:

Maybe she wants to replace the other car because it is from his bachelor days (and I doubt he would ever trade in the classic Vette). But I agree about low entry cars, bucket seats, etc., and how hard they are for people with back/knee/mobility problems.

I tried to post an earlier comment about how much older and tired he looks. Working on a movie and escorting the new wife at night is probably draining him.

      • siri says:

True, that old car has probably seen a lot;-)

      • Jib says:

I’m George’s age and I can work all day and still get dressed and go out. It’s not his age. Maybe he’s on lots of painkillers. I’ve read he drinks quite a bit, too, which might be why he is aging so poorly. Alcohol makes you look old really fast.

    • laura in LA says:

I think it’s also the fastest production Porsche right now…it’s whiplash-inducing, neck-snappingly fast!

George should perhaps stick to making Casamigos smoothies (as far as blending at home goes, this seems more his speed).

    54?!
    *crickets*

  13. meowmeow says:

I just can’t with her face. She always looks like an old washed up anorexic drag queen.

    • boredblond says:

Considering the procedures to get it, gotta believe that’s the look she was shooting for. As far as the car item..sounds phoney. He’s been driving black Porsche and black suv’s for years and lots of motorcycles. He once mentioned buying a tesla and said he’d always keep his old Porsche. Oh well, it’s his $.

      • Catgothertongue says:

There are photos of her back floating around online. My “friend” suffered with anorexia and bulemia for years. Her arms were skeletal and her veins were always protruding. Her back was so emaciated that the skin barely covered her bones like a sheet of philo. She finally went to a 30 day treatment center. So many men and women suffer in silence and it is treatable but very difficult. It is sometimes categorized as obsessive compulsion.

It’s sobering to think – a woman who “nagged the man” the proverbial bachelor should have everything…

    • Ash says:

I always think she’s older than she actually is. That said I don’t think she looks too bad.

  14. PoppyAdair says:

Amal went to law school and worked in NYC for several years. He didn’t need to smooth her way. She already has connections aplenty there.

  15. Flower says:

I say BS on this one…..firstly she doesn’t have that kind of money, she would be using her allowance from George which means he would really be buying it for himself. Secondly he rarely uses his cars, he prefers motor bikes and was always banging on about his 2 fuel conscious cars, he was one of the first to buy that electric car a few years ago that was supposed to revolutionize driving , he doesn’t even drive the cars he shilled for in Europe. If he did take a car for a test drive it was probably just a joy ride, on second thought if he does turn up in a Porsche it’s because his being paid big bucks to (on the side) to do so.

  16. Dari says:

I’m sure he’s feeling the pain – the pain of that money out of his account for the Porsche. He just looks awful. It’s a shame that none of his friends have the balls to pull him away so he can get checked out. It’s like a Show on the ID channel of how a man got murdered and you scream someone should have done something. Amal loved in New York not by a long shot she just shot herself in the foot by picking that designer.

  17. suki2 says:

From cars to clothes to Casamigos: product placement. ALL of it. The ‘gift’ is really from us, we who pay a premium for luxury goods so they can get them for free.

    • Me Three says:

@suki2 you are so right. It’s amazing how the world works; the rich get richer because they never pay for anything while people with nothing pay fees for everything. And we are to blame. We buy the stuff they shill. We shop at Walmart where 65% of the employees are on Medicaid and rely on food stamps because they are paid so little. We eat at fast food restaurants where single moms are paid $7 plus dollars an hour and then b!#ch that if their pay is raised, we’ll have to pay .65 more for a burger. I’d bet, if there is a Porsche in play, he won’t pay a dime for it.

As to his aging appearance, I agree with others who’ve pointed out his drinking habits. Most of his daily calories seem to come from alcohol. I remember photos on this site of him in Germany when he was making that God awful movie…he was drunk every night and he looked horrible. It makes me sad. He used to be really good looking. Age has nothing to do with it. You can’t drink like that and not pay for it.

  18. KT says:

Th GT3 RS is a track-ready, street-legal car. It has racing seats in it, and the car is built for performance – not comfort. I say best of luck to the guy – the car will be driven once, and then will be showroom eye candy until it’s sold for something else…
