1D’s Louis Tomlinson slammed by Zayn Malik, who labels Louis ‘bitchy’

Zayn Malik

One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is still upset about Zayn Malik’s dramatic departure from the boyband. We heard how all of the band’s members felt “misled” by Zayn after he quit. Zayn’s explanation was that he wanted to be “a normal 22-year-old.” Almost immediately, smugly entered a recording studio with producer Naughty Boy.

Louis, who was super close to Zayn during their four years in the band, has taken this upheaval all too personally. About a month ago, Louis fought with Zayn’s producer, Naughty Boy, over a perceived slight. That scuffle was a defining moment for for 1D fans, who cheered when a member broke the kumbaya facade pushed by 1D’s management. One month later, and Louis is still raging. He must be watching everything that Zayn and Naughty Boy do on Twitter, which seems obsessive. Here’s what provoked Louis:

Replace this” does sound like a challenge, right? Louis should have ignored it, but he didn’t.

Naughty Boy, thrilled to see Louis take the bait, struck back where it would hurt most. Many people believe Louis does have the weakest voice in 1D, so this remark had to sting. But Louis wasn’t going down without tossing some more mud.

Then Zayn stepped in with the final word, which was sort of amazing. I feel bad for Louis, but the dude shouldn’t have gotten into a public argument. How embarrassing.

Semi-related: Noel Gallagher has a new interview with Rolling Stone where he laughs at the “normal 22-year-old” thing: “Have you met any normal 22-year-olds? They’re f***in’ sh*t-for-brains. What are you talking about, you f***in’ idiot? God. You might have wanted to be a normal 22-year-old, but you won’t want to be a normal 25-year-old.

I feel for the 1D boys… It’s like seeing your ex with a new girlfriend after he kicked you to the curb because he’s “not into a relationship at the moment”. Ah, the sting!!!

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah, or that guy you wanted to marry who’s not ready to settle down then gets engaged in 20 seconds to the next woman he meets.

    • Pixi says:

      What a 1D…bag

  2. Easi says:

Zayn seems more and more douchey, a la Beiber.

    • Chichi says:

Zayn isnt the problem here. Now I know people here dont care too much about these boys but you have missed some epic Louis Tomlinson twitter bitch sessions. Hes the one who started some weird beef with that other British boyband, The Wanted. He’ll bitch out his own fans. Hes like a Real Housewife type. The fans call him “the sassy one” but he is really just an instigator with a sharp tongue. So what if some producer is promoting his talent with an “irreplaceable” tagline?

      • Junior says:

I think Zayn actually is the problem, or a large part of it. He’s been Mr. Bad Attitude for more than a year – not showing up for promo events, not putting in much effort at concerts, literally walking off the stage in the middle of one concert and not coming back. And then, of course, quitting in the middle of a world tour – or being fired, depending on who you believe.

At any rate, Zayn’s “bitchy remarks” comment also sounded like homophobic shade at Louis, who is pretty openly gay.

      • Dani says:

Louis IS known as the diva and he’s actually accepted it (or so I read). The thing is, even if he IS starting beef with everyone, he has the grounds here. Naughty Boy is a greasy wannabe and Zayn flat out deceived them. I don’t blame him for being hurt especially with how close they were. If you read the twitter feed from the fans, they’re all on Louis’s side, and Zayn lost a drastic amount of followers yesterday following that.

      • Chichi says:

        Junior

Lmao. Louis is the furthest thing from “openly gay”. Just last week he had the paps all set up outside a club and then his hotel in London to see him leave with five ( 5!) girls. Hes gone into bearding overdrive since his “break up” but thats a comment for another article.

Zayn did the right thing for himself by leaving. He was clearly struggling to fulfill even the basic contractual requirements and had probably started using harder drugs. He lost so much weight in just afew months he looked ill. If Louis would rather sit in an over managed boyband than live an authentic life, thats on him.

Also I hope you realise this all began from the 1 Direction end. They were mocking Zayn on how to replace him, he ignored it, his producer responded, Louis AS USUAL got his knickers in a twist and Zayn shut him down. Zayn didnt start this but he ended it.

  3. Scotty says:

You missed the first chapter, here. One Direction’s Liam posted a joke video a couple of days ago about a ‘replacement’ for Zayn – a drunken karaoke singer. Naughty Boy and Zayn’s first image, “Replace This!” was a response.

    • Allie says:

Yeah, I’m not here for shaming Louis. It was stupid of him to start a fight on Twitter, but he didn’t directly call out anybody at first. Zayn is acting ridiculous. Girl, you were in that band two months ago, stop acting like it’s now beneath you. Naughty boy is so happy to get any press right now.

      • exxie says:

Considering the fact that his only target group for his solo act will be these girls, pissing them off is not a wise move. Sorry Zayn, you re hot as hell but has the charisma of a bread on stage, there’s no way for him to be succesfull as solo. He is no Robbie.

      • Sarah says:

Can you imagine what it would have been like if twitter had been around when the Beatles broke up? EPIC 🙂

    • littlemissnaughty says:

      LMAO Okay, that’s a d*ck move but … funny.

  4. kri says:

I’m too old for this shit.

  5. littlemissnaughty says:

Well, Twitter is not the place for this but these boys live on social media and so does their career. So of course this is where it goes down. I think a lot of these young celebs have no concept of “Don’t air your dirty laundry in public.” because this is actually where careers happen now. I feel old.

But I don’t think Louis came out of this looking bad, it’s definitely Zayn and – I hesitate to call anyone by that ridiculous name – Naughty Boy. It’s a bit like the new boyfriend sh*tting on the old one who you got cheated on in public. Not classy. But that’s where Noel G. is right on the money. They’re guys in their early 20s with too much money and fame. This is what happens.

  6. Freebunny says:

None of them can sing. End of the story.

    • Jenjennyjenjenjenn says:

Judging by this comment I’m fairly certain you haven’t heard them… The Boys can sing. Especially Harry and Zayn.

      • exxie says:

Harry doesnt have Zayn’s high notes, but he can def. sing, actually he sings most of the songs on stage with Liam.

      • Junior says:

I agree with Jenny. Zayn has a lovely voice, while Harry has a nice, smoky James Taylor type tone. Louis’ voice is amateurish but endearing. Liam is also capable of hitting some pleasant high notes.

I’m outside the One Direction target group, but I think they make pleasant pop music, on the level of Rhianna, Katy Perry or Taylor Swift. Nothing revolutionary, but nice enough for the drive home.

      • Dani says:

Liam actually sings a lot of their deeper sounding songs, just FYI.

      • Junior says:

Didn’t know that, but I don’t find Liam’s voice distinctive, nor Niall’s. They’re just voices. Zayn’s voice is good, but not something you would pick out of a crowd of professional singers. Louis’ voice is the most recognizable and I find it kind of cute, but his vocal range is very, very limited. When he’s the songwriter, he’s pretty good at writing for just that range. When he goes outside it, the results can be unpleasant.

  7. Tiffany says:

Noel Gallagher once again the voice of reason. These guys really need to read this stuff because you are grown, one trick wonders who’s money maker is fading, fast.

    • Cel says:

      +1

The best thing Noel said was “get a good accountant because life is f**king long”.

So true, and very relevant for ex-boy band members.

      • Jenjennyjenjenjenn says:

When Noel Gallagher is the voice of reason regarding a career move, you know you effed up big time. Zayn’s popularity is plummeting. I don’t know who he is taking advice from but at the end of the day he only has himself to blame.

      • littlemissnaughty says:

@ Jen: I always wonder about that when these children go off the rails. Isn’t Simon C. still involved here? Shouldn’t he know? Say about his furry moobs and questionable personality what you will but the man knows the business and THIS is bad business. They will never appeal to those they’re trying to appeal to with this crap but they’re also p*ssing on 1D and by extension, those fans. I don’t get it. Know your audience, child!

    • Zandy says:

Yeah, i wish that interview with Noel made it into its own post! He gives best quotes lol!

    • hogtowngooner says:

I love Noel. He’s got a razor sharp tongue and just generally gives no f*cks. And his solo work is awesome.

  8. Barrett says:

Wow I had that headband in college!

  9. Bread and Circuses says:

Eh, these are really, really, really young men. Yes, they will act like cranky drama llamas sometimes — it’s a side effect of being that age.

  10. Skins says:

These guys do realize that there is not one ounce of real talent amongst them don’t they?

    • Jenjennyjenjenjenn says:

Right. I guess the millions they make based on their voices and songwriting (yes, they write) is due to their complete lack of talent. There have been a lot of bands that are just pretty faces that don’t even approach their popularity. To say they lack talent is wrong. Insult their attitudes if you want but not their talent.

    • exxie says:

As a 36 year old closet fan, I can say as a pop act they are more talented than Taylor Swift or the other acts. The thing is their latest album has really good songs which are written by them, but for some strange reason they promote the shittiest of the songs and actually they dont promote the songs anymore.

      • Junior says:

Yes, it’s a real mystery why such poor songs were chosen for singles. One of the rumors is that some of them were chosen to placate Zayn, who has been threatening to leave for quite some time. They supposedly went out of their way to choose singles on which Zayn was a co-writer – and of course songwriting royalties are where the money is!

      • Jenjennyjenjenjenn says:

Yes Exxie totally agree. Four is an awesome album and pretty much what made me a fan. (30 year old fan here… And very closeted Larry shipper.) I was shocked at the lack of promotion for that album and the fact they didn’t release songs like 18 and No Control, among others. Sigh. Waste of an opportunity to gain an older audience- as so many of those songs seemed to be aimed at an older crowd ( and had lots of influence from past music genres ie- Fireproof)

      • exxie says:

Junior, it may be the case, because in my opinion Steal My Girl can only attrack 9 years olds, but other songs are really good and can attrack more mature fans such as me.

Jenny, we are soul mates because I completely agree with you. 18, Stockholm Syndrome (which is written by Harry-as a Larry shipper-this tells a lot), Fireproof, Ready To Run. These are really good songs and they dont promote them, I thought at their 2 month break, they may promote the songs or make videos but that isnt the case I guess.

About Larry, I think they were definetly together in the beginning, but not anymore. Because they spend their time apart all the time, and Louis always parties with others at tour without Harry.

Finally Harry is awesome, if they ever tour here in İstanbul, I will be a pathetic 36 fan amongst 15 year old screaming teenagers.

      • Junior says:

Exxie, I like ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ as well, but I think that in this political environment, a song about being in love with someone who ‘holds you hostage’ and ‘keeps you tied down’ (metaphorically or not) is never going to make it onto top 40 radio. If people got upset about ‘Blurred Lines’, they’ll get apopleptic about ‘Stockholm Syndrome.’

      • PinaColada says:

OMG. I am such a closeted fan. I like Niall the most because he seems to be the most laid back, easygoing, just happy with each day. I’m also 32 so I don’t need a drama boy 😉 I really do like their music though. I blew them off as a boy band, but then heard some songs not knowing it was them and then started to give them a chance.

    • Franca says:

Do they really write their songs? Like Taylor who wrote her first few albums almost on her own or like Beyonce who changes one word and then gets billes as a co-author?

And they can thank their popularity to being cute boys in the right moment, let’s not kid ourselves here.

      • Junior says:

The song lyrics aren’t as polished as a Max Martin type would make them, which makes me think that the boys do have substantial influence. That said, there are always co-writers, although the co-writers are about the boys’ own age.

Some of the boys – particularly Louis and Liam – have a lot more songwriting credits than the others. That suggests to me that a songwriting credit is not just a rubber stamp for showing up in the studio – otherwise they would be distributed equally.

  11. Naddie says:

Idiots. I wonder how young girls buy their “it’s ok to be yourself” shit.

  12. sarah says:

I might be alone on this, but I think Zayn is just having an ‘identity criss’ thing, or has been for a bit, finally just all come out at once with him leaving 1Direction and wanting to be a “normal 22 year old”.
Zayn identifies as Muslim, as does Naughty Boy (who has tweeted the #FreePalestine hashtag in the past). And though it is coming off as really douche-y, I think what he’s doing is actually very healthy and normal for someone who has admitted to wanting to be more connected to his “roots”. He shaved his head too (not sure what that’s about), and mingled at the Asian Awards a few weeks ago (took some selfies with Shah Rukh Khan), so I think he was just tired of the bubble that 1D put him in.

    • Junior says:

I don’t think you’re alone! Most 22-year-olds are looking for their identities, so why not Zayn? He never really wanted to be in a boy band anyway – he famously had to be dragged out of bed by his mother to attend the X Factor auditions and refused to do the required dance at the auditions. More recently, he didn’t seem musically in line with the direction the group was taking and clearly didn’t enjoy the promotional duties involved with boy band stardom. Hopefully he’ll find something that fits his personality and personal ambitions much better. Whether or not that focus ends up relating to his religion or his ethnicity is up to him.

I do think Naughty Boy is taking advantage of Zayn, however. Just because they share a religious and ethnic background doesn’t mean that Naughty Boy is a good guy.

  13. Lucy says:

OMG BoyBand Dramz!!! *grabs popcorn* The funniest thing is that everyone on tumblr is yelling at Zayn, as if he was the one who started the whole fight thing.

  14. Amy says:

This whole thing is an amazing side-show drama that I’m still trying to figure out why people care.

Team Zayne I suppose. He’s cute, seems to sing quite well, and helped contribute to this delicious nonsense so I’m a fan. Maybe next one of them will get to trashing the other in an interview and really blow the lid off the place.
