Demi Moore begs dying woman not to have surgery to look like her

Here’s a really bizarre story for you. There is a woman in London named Lisa Connell. She’s 29 and found out three years ago that she has an inoperable brain tumor. What’s the one thing she wants to do before she dies? Have all sorts of plastic surgery so she looks like Demi Moore. And can die beautiful.

Demi Moore has urged a terminally ill fan not to have plastic surgery to look like her. The ‘Ghost’ actress doesn’t want 29-year-old Lisa Connell to go under the knife before she dies, insisting she is already beautiful. She wrote on social networking website Twitter: “Wish I could contact this woman Lisa Connell who wants to have surgery to look like me and encourage her to not to! She is a beautiful girl!”

Lisa has terminal cancer and had announced plans she was going to spend $60,000 on surgery in a bid to resemble her idol. Lisa decided to have liposuction, a breast enhancement, an eyebrow lift and work on her skin and teeth shortly after she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2006.

She said: “People think I’m crazy for doing this, but I know it will make my last months or years happier… When I was young I used to watch Demi Moore in films like ‘Ghost’ and I longed to look like her… I want to die beautiful, so this is my way of taking back control of my body.”

That’s all kinds of craziness. I don’t even know where to start, since I obviously don’t want to be harsh towards a woman dying of a brain tumor.

Connell used to run a website called “Lisa Connell Brain Tumour Fundraising Official Site.” Which sounds normal and sensible enough. But now when you go to the website, you get a message that it’s closed, and you’re redirected to Lisa’s new site, “Rent a Date for Charity.” It features minor British celebrities that are former reality TV contestant, WAGs (you know, that obnoxious British acronym for the Wives And Girlfriends of footballers), models, TV presenters, and a few models. None of whom I’ve ever heard of, though they’re obviously significantly more famous in the U.K.

The site runs periodic auctions where you can bid on a date with the celeb up for bid. Its goal “is to raise money and awareness for brain tumour charities but not exclusively.” Hmm. Here’s what Lisa says in her own bio on the site (and yes, you can bid on a date with her, too).

Lisa Connell 29 from North London. Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour two years ago has since made it her goal to raise over £1million for charity through Rent A Date For Charity.

Born in Camden Town 1979 moved to Bath to live with her dad and step mum in 1993 where she spent her teenage years moving back to North London in 1997. Working within property management for the best part of 10 years Lisa was very successful in her job. Moving to Thailand in 2005 having to come back 9 months later due to her illness Lisa now lives and works from her bungalow in North London.

There are pictures of Lisa on the site, and when Demi Moore Twittered that she’s a beautiful girl, she wasn’t bullshitting. Lisa really is gorgeous. She also already has a decent resemblance to Demi, which means she’s either already had some surgery, or perhaps she wants to enhance the similarity.

I would think having an inoperable brain tumor at such a young age would make a person really evaluate what they want out of the rest of their life. Actually… I guess in this case it did, and this is what Lisa wants. I was going to say it would likely lead a person to want to travel, or deepen their relationships, find religion… something. Going under the knife to change (I wouldn’t even say “improve”) your appearance seems an unusual choice. Especially for someone with limited time, who is already so beautiful.

maybe the tumor is affecting her brain so she has crazy thoughts. My father died recently of a brain tumor and they really fuck you up, pardon my french!

  2. Ron says:

What a waste of money. Once you die, no one cares what you look like anymore. Send this money to children living with cleft palates or something like that where is will be useful.

  3. Ophelia says:

@Dorothy- I’m so sorry about your dad. I just lost mine too. *hugs*

  4. Jamine says:

Hmm. She’s not shallow at all.

  5. Dorothy says:

Thanks Ophelia, sorry about yours too! I am thankful for memories and my mom!!!

  6. ChristinaT says:

is this the best way she could think of spending her money before she dies? quite a legacy…

  7. paranel says:

It must be the tumor. Demi is starting to look like Lisa Rinna with long hair. She has had too many plastic surgeries.

  8. Ria says:

I think most of the women in Hollywood are starting to resemble each other.

  9. Chiara says:

Dying woman’s wishes? Plastic surgery or Disneyland? How relevant is it … she’s facing death, it’s her moment of self care, self indulgence.

  10. j. ferber says:

I agree with Chiara. God forbid that anyone should be in this situation and I bet you couldn’t really predict how you’d act if you were. Poor girl.

  11. pippipcheerio says:

Speaking of death, it looks like Demi is channeling Tammi Faye Bakker’s mascara-globbing makeup techniques.

  12. CB Rawks says:

What a dreadful waste of money. Wish she would donate it to protecting the world’s wildlife or another worthwhile cause.

  13. Frenchie says:

I really wish she is not planing to use the money of the charity for that surgery.
She should try to be with people that will give her more love than a mirror and the satisfaction of a beautiful reflection will do.
By the way I am stunned at so many british dying so young of cancer or brain tumor. Might really be the influence of junk and industrial food.

  14. Nony says:

As someone whose body has been letting her down.. I can sympathise with the ‘taking back control’ aspect.
I think it’s kind of a crazy plan, but then, whatever gives her comfort. We have no right to dictate that she should find religion or donate her money to charity.

  15. sissoucat says:

I agree with Nony. It’s her last wish, folks.

  16. Granger says:

Funny, though, that she wants to look like Demi Moore, who’s had so much plastic surgery herself that SHE doesn’t even look like Demi Moore!

  17. Dena says:

Thank “God” natural selection is breeding out this idiot.

  18. Dena says:

I mean weeding. Wow, maybe I should be weeded.

  19. Dena says:

Demi’s face looks bloated or something. Anyone else see it?

  20. may says:

Maybe Demi should agree to be auctioned on the website in exchange for that girl not having surgery to look like her. I’m sure Demi would bring in a lot of money for the charity.
