Just when you thought the celebrity DUI news was mercifully dying down, Nicole Richie has been ordered to stand trial on July 11th, or within 10 days of that date. She also has the option of entering a plea at that time.

Richie was busted for driving the wrong way on the freeway last December and admitted to cops that she was on vicodin and pot at the time. She had another DUI offense in 2002, to which she pled guilty. If she’s found guilty of this one she faces a mandatory five days in jail, but can theoretically be sentenced to up to a year.

Nicole has been mum about her maybe-pregnancy, with some gossip rags speculating that it’s a bid to keep out of jail. Whether she’s pregnant or not, this is sure to be interesting.

On June 25th Paris gets out of her 23 day sentence for violating parole probation in her DUI case twice. Then a little over two weeks later Nicole’s trial is coming. I bet she cops a plea, though, and gets off without any jail time. I’m no legal expert and we’ll have to see how it turns out.
