TV Scorecard: which shows have been canceled, which have been renewed?

canceledrenewed
As we learned last week, fan favorite shows Forever and The Mindy Project have sadly been let go by their respective networks. Ahead of the television upfronts, which start this week, networks have announced more renewal and cancelation decisions. There are still a few series in limbo, but most decisions have been made public, at least for the shows I’m hooked on. Here’s a list of shows by their fate, from E!. AdWeek has a more complete list along with predictions. E! puts the most recent cancelations and renewals at the top of each list, which is why networks have multiple lists in the same categories:

What’s in Limbo: The Voice, The Biggest Loser, American Odyssey, The Slap, A.D.

[From E! Online]

Many people commenting on E! are worried about Blue Bloods being canceled, but it will most likely be renewed from what I’ve read. The Odd Couple doesn’t deserve a second season, in my opinion, but the ratings are there and experts say that it’s also likely to be renewed.

Nashville is one of my guilty pleasures and despite some of the dumb plotlines this season (they really screwed up poor Hayden Panettiere’s character) I’m relieved that it’s coming back in the fall. It sounded like touch and go for that show at one point, due to how expensive it is to make. American Crime is another excellent series which will continue, although it’s dark and can be depressing at times.

As for shows I watch which have been canceled, I’m sad about Forever and I don’t think it had enough of a chance to build viewership. Resurrection was on my DVR but I grew to dislike it and am glad they pulled the plug. (Incidentally, I tried to watch the other show with the same premise as the original French series, A&E’s The Returned, and I couldn’t get into it.) I can’t believe The Last Man on Earth is coming back to Fox. That show was painfully unfunny. It’s all about the ratings and some shows get so much hype that they stick around past their expiration date.

After I wrote this story, Fox announced its new lineup. You can read more here. American Idol will run for just one more season, which will be its last. The best news is that The X Files are coming back in January! I can’t wait.

Here’s hoping we see Mindy Kaling and Ioan Gruffudd in new projects again soon.

    Help us Hulu, you are our only hope!

  2. MsGoblin says:

    What? The Good Wife is in limbo? What are they, high?

    • minx says:

      I read that the producers are already spending money on the next season; the announcement just hasn’t been made.

      • MCraw says:

        Man, so many shows I’ve worked on are canceling! Oh man…. This year might be rough. Person of interest was my bread&butter =\

    • RocketMerry says:

      Most likely. On some hard stuff.
      I’ll be in serious angry crying mode if they cancell TGW.

      Ps. Spoiler, but OMG Florrick & Cunning?!

    • Kiddo says:

      The Good Wife has been declining and I’m at the point where its demise won’t sting, the band-aid was already ripped off a few times, during the season’s less than spectacular plot lines, and anticlimactic finale.

      The following shows should be drowned in a bathtub:

      Dancing With the Stars, The Bachelor, America’s Funniest Home Videos, Shark Tank, Beyond the Tank, 20/20, Last Man Standing, Bones, Undateable, The Voice, The Biggest Loser.

      There are probably more, some I’ve never heard of that should meet the same fate, but I’m too apathetic to care.

      • boredblond says:

        Agree..think they messed too much with the initial chemistry that made The Good Wife work..I still watch, but with less anticipation.

      • Kiddo says:

        I don’t know if Marguiles is driving the direction, but what made the show really good was the ensemble cast. I’ve read that there were petty squabbles or contract disputes, I’m not sure if that played a part in this. BUT, Marguiles’ character and her acting alone, does not make this a great show. They have ignored excellent actors and their story lines, lost good casting, in favor of focusing WAY TOO MUCH on Felicia, and that has been the downfall. She is not interesting enough, nor does her acting have the range to sustain the show alone. But the writers, producers, whoever, keep going this route, with absurd cut-offs on other plots. It’s highly disappointing.

      • littlestar says:

        This past season was really off for the Good Wife. The storyline was just going everywhere – seriously, what was the point of her running for office only for her to be kicked out? I felt like that served no purpose whatsoever. Was it to re-energize Alicia into believing she could be a good lawyer? Because she seemed to be doing exactly that when she teamed up with Cary…..

      • Tiffany :) says:

        I heard that American Idol will be no more after their 15th season that will start in January. Thank goodness! Time to Old Yeller that show.

      • Layday says:

        @Kiddo I agree with everything you wrote. I loved the The Good Wife because of the ensemble cast. Now that it’s become the Alicia Florrick show I don’t care if it gets cancelled or not (ironic I know with the show being called The Good Wife). There are too many excellent actors/characters that are being wasted and underutilized and Alicia’s storyline isn’t interesting enough to hold the show up on her own. Plus FInn Palmer has been a snoozefest for me. If the writers knew they were going to kill Josh Charles they should have been doing legwork to get another actor that wouldn’t make his absence so painfully obvious.

      • Kiddo says:

        @Layday Yeah, whenever it starts to get really compelling with other storylines, it seems the writers snap it back to Alicia and abandon most everything else. I guess they don’t want those characters stealing the thunder?

      • Smurphy says:

        No way, Undateable is the best!

      • Lucy2 says:

        Fully agree that the show suffers when it focuses too much on Alicia, and stupid elections most regular people don’t care about.
        They’ve always had such a great ensemble but keep pushing them back into smaller and smaller roles. It’s a waste of amazing talent.

    • Samtha says:

      After this season, I am more than ready for it to end.

    • Merritt says:

      I think it will get at least one more season. But they wasted most of this past one with the state attorney’s race, that just led to Alicia being humiliated once again.

    • minx says:

      And I think that Alicia/Kalinda scene was CGI.

    • Sarah says:

      That was my thought too! I can’t imagine TGW is really in limbo. I bet they are just negotiating.

    • ava7 says:

      Probably the best show on network television.

  3. anniefannie says:

    OMG! You buried the lead! The Good Wife is in limbo? How can this not be a no- brainer?

  4. MeloMelo says:

    Yay, The 100 made it!

  5. mia girl says:

    X-FILES!!!!!!! So much joy!

    OK, but how does NBC cancel Marry Me & About a Boy which were pretty funny, and renew The Mysteries of Laura? That show is so terrible, I mean cringe-worthy bad. Debra Messing’s character is a total mess.

    • Lindy79 says:

      I read over the weekend Messing is great chums with the head of the network. Not sure how true that is but would explain this particular decision.

    • KB says:

      This is EXACTLY what I was wondering! Marry Me and About A Boy were NBC’s only decent comedies (that obviously excludes Parks and Rec, which we all know just completed its final and fantastic season). But Mysteries of Laura is downright terrible.

    • JenniferJustice says:

      Lindy is right. Messing is known as being difficult to work with and a total snot to the crew. The ratings aren’t all that great. She just has a good network (pardon the pun).

  6. Sixer says:

    Blimey. I only watch two out of all these shows: Scandal (in memory of my mum) and The 100 (well, the Sixlets watch it but I’m in the room when it’s on).

    I feel like I’m a Britisher that watches quite a bit of American TV. I suppose I’m watching all the cable stuff that’s not listed here, right?

  7. Loopy says:

    I tries to get in State of Affairs, it is very unbelievable.

    • Sarah says:

      I think State of Affairs suffered in comparison with Madam Secretary. Similar shows but MS has a much more likable lead and supporting cast (annoying older daughter Stevie notwithstanding).

      • V. says:

        Omigosh thank you for also thinking Stevie is an annoying shrew! She is such a little entitled, self-centered brat!

      • Izzy says:

        Karma. Katherine Heigl is unlikeable to the point of being unwatchable for many people. Not surprising the show got canceled.

  8. BendyWindy says:

    I’m seriously bummed about Forever. It was one of the only new shows I continued to watch.

    If they cancel Elementary, I will set myself on fire. Figuratively.

    • ShinyGrenade says:

      Elementary is pretty awesome this season, very interesting cases!

    • islandwalker says:

      Me too. Forever had great potential and cast.

      • SamiHami says:

        The cast was excellent, but the writing was poor. I was afraid the bad writing would kill what should have been a wonderful show.

      • Deering says:

        It’s a shame, but FOREVER just took too long to play its cards and really catch fire. 🙁 They should have brought up his conflict with Adam a lot earlier–and some of its best episodes were the last half of the season.

    • Abby_J says:

      They can’t cancel Elementary. I need my Jonny Lee Miller fix. I’d have to start a protest outside of their offices.

    • BRE says:

      I am so sad about Forever, I feel like I’ve just been dumped! The Mentalist wasn’t so much cancelled as the lead agreed to a partial season this year and then was done.

    • Lilacflowers says:

      I’m upset about Forever

    • littlestar says:

      Same. Forever was SO charming and the actors just excellent. Plus quirky, wonderful storylines. Makes me sad that good shows like that never get a chance to build a solid following :(.

    • holly hobby says:

      Oh yeah so sad about Forever. Ioan Grufford wrote a lovely post thanking the fans. I hope he gets another show. However I’m glad with how the story ended at least we have closure.

    • nilber says:

      I agree totally! I liked Backstrom too. My other half and son love Person of Interest.

    • Kaye says:

      I’d assume Elementary will get renewed for 4 despite poor ratings and a DVR drop for syndication. After that, it’s probably gone unless it picks back up.

  9. amanda says:

    Last Man on Earth is one of very few shows I actually do like, but its a particular style of comedy that you don’t get on other cable comedies, and i don’t watch most other cable comedies, so maybe that’s why I like it.

    My fiance, a huge Batman fan, has actually given up on Gotham, he said it’s that bad, so I’m sad to see that The Mindy Project, which I’ve heard such great things about, has been cancelled and Gotham is still going.

    Also happy for Fresh Off The Boat, Bob’s Burgers and The Goldbergs. all awesome.

    • minx says:

      I loved LMOE. It has its own rhythm and it went through a bit of a slump but resolved itself nicely in the final episodes. There was something about Will Forte in this part that just killed me.

      • amanda says:

        I know he wrote most of it and the crew of people he’s working with on it he’s done stuff with before, and they’ve done some great stuff, including The Lego Movie and Clone High (a very old MTV/canadian TV cartoon that was way too good).

        I’m really looking forward to the next season and I love Kristen Schall, she’s perfection.

      • CariBean says:

        LOVE LMOE!!! I don’t like very many of those types of shows, but that cast is fantastic together… And yes, Kristen Schall makes it all believable!

    • Canoki says:

      I found Will Forte to be completely unlikeable. Perhaps I wasn’t able to suspend my disbelief enough, but Phil Miller was just so terrible a person I couldn’t find the humor at all. I tried really hard to like it as Kristen Schaal is a delight, but I just couldn’t do it.

    • SamusAran says:

      My husband and I watch Last Man On Earth and like it. We were waiting for Sons of Anarchy’s final season to come on Netflix, and had nothing else on Hulu, so we started watching it. I hated it at first but then I grew to like it a little. It’s a decent show after a while.

    • Grace says:

      I’m obsessed with LMOE. I find this show hilarious, though not really feeling January Jones – she still can’t act, and can’t wait till next season.

    • Ange says:

      Yeah I never thought LMOE was meant to be this laugh out loud screwball comedy, more black humour and on that level it worked for me. I especially like the way Tandie is sort of redeeming himself but Todd is on the way down. I really loved Fresh off the Boat and The Goldbergs, my husband will be sad One Big Happy is cancelled though as he enjoys his weekly Kelly fix. The show itself was actually terrible of course so not surprising.

  10. Luca76 says:

    I’m still so sad about Forever.

    • Pandy says:

      Yes, hubby and I both loved Forever AND Battle Creek!!! That was a really good show as well. Too bad. And yet, Two Broke Girls (which jumped the shark after season one) continues …

      • V. says:

        YES!!! TWO BROKE GIRLS should be drug outside and beaten to death! It is a horrible show and yet it keeps on ticking! WTF!

  11. LadyMTL says:

    Well, they renewed Sleepy Hollow…I hope that season 3 will be less of a hot mess than season 2 was. I came so close to giving up on this show altogether, but I’ll see what happens next before I write it off completely.

    • Lindy79 says:

      Did you see Orlando is gone? I’m really hoping with the new showrunners they have gotten over the humps of last season. It’s a great show with great leads.

      • Samtha says:

        Well. That is not reassuring (re: Orlando). They really did his character dirty last season, and there was so much behind-the-scenes drama that I’m not surprised.

        On another site, someone posted that season two had all new writers. Not sure how true that is, but it would explain a lot.

      • Aurora says:

        @Samtha

        “Behind the scenes drama”??? Spill. Tea. Please

      • LadyMTL says:

        I did not know that Orlando Jones is gone! The writers for sure messed the character all the way up (and back) last season, so I can’t blame him if he chose not to return.

    • Tig says:

      Second your thoughts re Sleepy Hollow- so hoping they right the ship there. I was a bit bummed to see that Orlando is leaving the show. And yay for Agent Carter- love that show! Tho after trying to watch season 2 of Broadchurch, will never see Jarvis the same way-LOL!

    • Olenna says:

      Yes, I’m also glad they renewed SH, but I hadn’t heard about Orlando leaving or the behind-the-scenes mess (will have to go surf for the dirt, now). All I know is the writers really gave Captain Irving the shaft last season and that sucked, Big Time! In fact, the writers sucked. Period. I was hoping Orlando would come back in better form for Season 3 and round out the team. So sad.

    • A.Key says:

      I have high hopes for season 3. Unlike the rest of season 2, the finale was amazing, brought me back hope for the show.
      Love Ichabod & Abbie.

      • Andrea says:

        First season was awesome, second season was just awful. Cannot believe they renewed this and cancelled forever (much better show now IMO).

  12. LAK says:

    I can’t believe Supernatural is still going.

    • haley says:

      Supernatural has been really great lately. I love the show.

    • Oobejabbawonka says:

      It’s one of the best written shows on TV, despite the lack of acclaim. One of the best casts too so I’m just glad that a quality show is making it through – unlike The 100, which is loose stool water.

    • Ceree says:

      I can. It’s a fantastic show.

      • MoxyLady007 says:

        Late to hhr game, but I 100% agree. Supernatural is a phenomenal show. Fantastic plot lines. Great characters and really excellent acting. There is nothing like it on tv. It somehow just keeps getting better.

  13. Lindy79 says:

    How could The Slap be renewed…it was one book based on one event. Or will there a series

    The punch
    The shin-kick
    The flappy slap
    The hitting nothing but air

  14. LetItB! says:

    I just love the Originals. that’s all I got.

  15. lina says:

    I am sooooo excited about Last man on earth being renewed. Thats my fave new comedy on tv.

  16. LetItB! says:

    @Lak I watch Supernatural and this season was their best yet in my opinion. So I’m happy its still going.

    • LAK says:

      I haven’t watched Supernatural since season 5. I’ll take your recommendation and binge watch it to the current episodes. 🙂

  17. Susie Q says:

    Lots of good shows in limbo but Mike and Molly gets renewed? That and 2 Broke Girls are two of the worst shows out there.

    • Lama Bean says:

      AWFUL. I swear I don’t understand the staying power of 2 Broke Girls. The commercials don’t even make me crack a smile.

      American Crime is the business. Such a thought provoking show. Yes, depressing, but primarily because Timothy Hutton looks so worn (that alone makes me sad).

      • Crazy says:

        Every time I see a commercial for Two Broke Girls I wonder who is performing special favors to keep their show on the air. Terrible?

      • sophie says:

        ITA re TBG. Disgusting show. American Crime is a great show (and I agree about depressing).

        I wish Matthew Perry would go back to drama. He was great on The Good Wife. I keep rooting for him every time he gets a new show but The Odd Couple is terrible.

    • CariBean says:

      I can’t change the channel quick enough when 2 Broke Girls comes on. That show is pitiful and the 5 minutes that I have seen of it were the longest 5 minutes of my life. It does make you wonder why shows as unfunny as this keep getting renewed.

      • Anony says:

        I….I watch 2 broke girls. I don’t even know why! I never laugh but I like the characters but I don’t know why! Hubby will actually watch that show so maybe that’s why? *shame*

  18. Sarah says:

    The French show “The Returned” is excellent – eeveryone should watch it. The American version was actually painful to watch it was so bad, just like the vast majority of US remakes. Why can’t you leave anything alone?!?

    • KaitX says:

      Agreed Sarah! Les Revenants was fantastic. I don’t know why they feel the need to remake these series for a North American audience. They butchered The Bridge and Broadchurch too.

      • Sarah says:

        If I could understand anything it would be people who cant read subtitles (whatever, moving on) but WHY try remake Australian or English shows that are IN ENGLISH?!??!?!?!
        Skins, Kath and Kim, The Slap, Rake… it is idiotic, moronic, pathetic etc. Dont try blame the accents – USA is a multicultural country. If people can’t understand a foreign accent, they’d best never leave their house. RAGE

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

      I love Les Revenants and have a very high hopes for the 2nd season. I haven’t watched the remake yet but it has surprisingly good ratings. The best thing about this show is its atmosphere – it’s doubtful they were able to recreate it. I will never understand why everything has to be in English – the American English? The subtitles didn’t take away anything from my enjoyment of this show.

    • Chris R says:

      It blew me away. It’s kind of my new bar that I compare other dramatic shows to.

  19. Samtha says:

    Poor Selfie. It was a funny, adorable show with great leads. The title and marketing for it completely sucked and killed any chances it had.

    • Beckysuz says:

      Yes! i really enjoyed it. It was a sweet show. Funny and with a lot more heart than I expected given the way the ads depicted it

    • Ange says:

      Yeah, it came into its own at the end and I was so sad it was cancelled.

  20. grabbyhands says:

    Pleased about Agent Carter-fingers crossed for more awesome Mr Jarvis/Miss Carter awesome duo crime fighting.

    Bummed about Constantine-I hope Netflix picks it up and does it some justice.

  21. Indira says:

    Yaaaaay for Once! Just watched the epic season finale. That’s one fun show.

    • boredsuburbanhousewife says:

      I like the alternative universe they created and would have liked to have seen it developed over a longer story arc. Yay that they finally showed Hook and Emma ON AN ACTUAL BED together and she finally told him she loved him — but when oh when will they ever actually DO anything on SAID BED?

      • A.Key says:

        Never, it’s a family show, sadly.

      • Indira says:

        I KNOW RIGHT? I’ve been saying it all season long. They were SO HOT in the alternate universe. So sexy. Sizzling chemistry. Hope they did put that bed to use! Captain Swan forever!

  22. OSTONE says:

    Revenge ended yesterday. The last 3 seasons were borderline bad soap opera, but I loved it! That first season though! Awesome!

    • Abby_J says:

      I was so ready for Revenge to end, even though I loved it. After the finale last night though, I WANT IT BACK!! NOW! Such a great ending for the show.

  23. grumpycat says:

    I am canceling Hulu but would rejoin if they take on The Mindy Project.

  24. Veritas says:

    Still crying about Constantine. Hopefully it gets renewed somewhere else. I think the cw would be a good home for the show. They got all the DC comic shows there that are doing well. Fingers crossed.

  25. thaliasghost says:

    Nashville is my not-so-guilty pleasure as well. I can’t even rejoice about the renewal because they are ending my favorite storyline (Jeff and Layla, yell at me, I don’t care) because Oliver Hudson is not coming back to the show.

    • Canoki says:

      As long as Jade St. John stays far, far away, I’m still on board to watch this trainwreck every week. I love it’s brand of crazy.

    • kcarp says:

      I love this brand of crazy too…

      Please let Will come out, I am so tired of his aww shucks cowboy closet.

      Deacon can’t die.

      Teddy how could be that dumb and the Mayor of a major city?

      Juliet get you some Lexapro and some counseling you are a mess.

      Gunnar get a grip and quit acting like a mopey immature teenager.

      • Canoki says:

        Yes to everything you said, but I’m going to add that Maddie needs to stop with the angsty teen crap. She irks me so much!

    • JustCrimmles says:

      No more Jeff Fordham?? I too liked them together, but only because I think she needed him as the push to find herself. Otherwise, he’s a slime ball, hurt by the past or not.

      No more Gunnar/Scarlett will they/won’t they. Just stahp. Let her be happy for one season, ffs!

      Hurry up with the eleventh hour save for Deacon, tired of his moping and dramz. You got who you wanted. Be happy. George R.R. Martin doesn’t write this show, so he’s probably not going to die.

      Why is Luke Wheeler still around? Don’t care for him.

      Bring back Sadie.

      Wtf, Juliette?!

  26. FLORC says:

    Sadly this boils down to less about actual viewership and more about profit/competition ratios.
    With that many shows that are good and do draw in viewers can be justified cancellations.

    And it’s quietly confirmed at this point Constantine is moving to SyFy as Hellblazer (comic original title) with the same cast and format.

    Upset over Red Band Society! It was a good show with a Freaks and Geeks format.

    Many shows were cancelled nearly a full season ago. And have already run their concluded seasons like The Mentalist. Shame many of these shows never got a decent shot and won’t be concluded.

    • Kiddo says:

      I haven’t really mourned the loss of any shows since Happy Endings, but especially Terriers.

      • FLORC says:

        Terriers was an amazing show! Sadly, not many knew about it from terrible promotions. I think the biggest ad campaign that was the biggest failure was a white screen with a terrier on it. That was it. People thought it was a show about the toy breed dogs.

    • daria says:

      i don’t get into any shows on the major networks anymore… they never give their shows a real chance to develop.

      If they are good I’ll catch them on netflix 2 or 3 seasons in I guess.

  27. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

    *confession time*
    I actually like “Backstrom”, and am soo sad it’s being canceled. It’s not the greatest show, but I liked watching it on Fridays……I’d watch that and the Blacklist.

    And lol–I am STILL geeking out over Hannibal Season 2’s ending–I didn’t get a chance to see it until about a month ago (it’s on amazon prime) and omfg, I am STILL shocked, even though on some level, I saw it coming. Ughhhh….I’m going to be a ball of nerves until it comes back on.

    • Kiddo says:

      I don’t know any of these shows, but I enjoyed and cracked up at your comment. I say we make a pilot out of it.

    • Lindy79 says:

      Hannibal is so brilliant. The set/staging of it alone is award worthy.
      Cannot wait for Season 3

    • Abby_J says:

      Thank you! I really thought that I was the only one watching Backstrom, and enjoying it. I will miss it.

      • briargal says:

        I liked it too. There are a lot of other shows that have been renewed that shouldn’t be. Loved the line “I am you…I am…” Also it was good that the lead was not a super handsome guy but just a really likeable (and in my eyes good looking) guy. Oh well…

      • Scarlet Vixen says:

        Mr Vix and I loved Backstrom, too. It maybe wasn’t the best written show ever created, but I LOVED the cast. And liked the idea of an anti-hero main character.

        I am just gutted about Forever, tho. Another great cast. I’m hoping it gets resurrected somewhere else (Netflix, TNT…)

    • littlestar says:

      The countdown is on for Hannibal season 3!!! Just a few more weeks :).

    • FLORC says:

      1st few episodes of Backstrom were good. Then it just wasn’t as good.
      And yay Hannibal! That show is really great. You rarely see that quality anymore in an age of reality and copy series.

    • nia says:

      I am bummed too about Backstrom. I thought it was funny.

    • Chicky says:

      I just finished binge watching Hannibal yesterday and omg that show is gorgeous and brilliant. Best show I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t imagine where it will go next season…can’t wait to see and didn’t know season 3 started so soon, yay!!!
      Terriers was such a great show that got cancelled too soon, i agree! comment about promo picture made me laugh, so true.
      Mindy project made me LOL pretty consistently ,so I’m not happy it’s getting cancelled.
      I’m still loving the good wife, it’s been through a lot of changes and made a few mistakes with characters but I think it’s still great tv.
      Mad men is the show I’m currently mourning….I would have loved to see these characters go through the next eras and see how they develop and grow. I like that it’s going out on it’s own accord instead of getting cancelled, but still bums me out.

    • Dante says:

      Also a Backstrom fan, this is so disappointing.

  28. L&Mmommy says:

    Person of interest is in limbo nooooooo! I’m glad sleepy hollow was renewed, I feared for it for a while.

  29. AlmondJoy says:

    All I need is Black-ish and How To Get Away With Murder! My faves!

    I’ll definitely miss Parks and Rec though.. I cried on the finale lol.. Don’t judge me 😭 At least it was a cancellation I had time to prepare for.. We knew the show was ending.

    I also thought Red Band Society was cute and I’m disappointed that it won’t be coming back. Did any of you Celebitches watch it?

    • Kiddo says:

      I like Blackish too, it started out questionable, but kind of found a pace. But they move stuff around and I lose track of it.

      • AlmondJoy says:

        Kiddo, I wasn’t impressed with the first episode! Lately though, it’s been hilarious and the kids crack me up. Especially that Diane!

      • Canoki says:

        Diane is amazing and terrifying

      • Hautie says:

        Black-ish did turn into a really funny show. Those first 5-6 episodes… not so good. But as the season ran… the story telling got so much better. I love those twins. This is the one show, that I actually like all the child actors. Which is rare for me.

        The one episode that just killed me… was when ‘Pop’s was showing Dre how to use the old Hot Wheels track to whipped ass. And that work buddy, Charlie, was a great addition. I love how he says some of the most off the wall things. At the most inappropriate times.
        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        I also like “The Goldbergs”. And that was a hard one to get through, the rough episodes. I do enjoy the show now. But for the love of all things holy…. I simply can not stand the youngest child actor. (which sadly is suppose to be the lead) I mute him when he speaks. And just read the on screen captions.
        When the show started telling more stories, that center around the older kids. It got much better. The oldest son. Is just brilliant in his clueless/stupidity.
    • Navel_Linty says:
      I watched (and enjoyed) Red Band Society. It was one of 2 shows I got into this season and both were cancelled (Constantine being the other.)
      I’m not watching network TV any more. I can’t exist in an audience where crap shows like Mysteries Of Laura get renewed and good shows get cancelled in favor of showing another 3 hours of Dateline.
      • AlmondJoy says:
        Navel, I thought RBS was heartwarming and really funny. I’m sorry Constantine was cancelled, I never got a chance to check it out. Maybe I can find it On Demand or online?
        I feel your pain 😩 so frustrating.
      • FLORC says:
        Constantine is likely picked up by SyFy with same everything, but original title.
        Mysteries of Laura is lazy tv imo. And that is what many want. Lazy, easy to follow, repeat formulas.
      • Navel_Linty says:
        @AlmondJoy You should definitely watch it while NBC still has it available!
        @FLORC – NBC refuted the SYFY rumor a long time ago. Hoping the CW will pick it up, the show is produced by Warner Bros, so hopefully wouldn’t have many changes.
    • CariBean says:
      YES!! Blackish is hilarious! Hubs didn’t like it at first, but now he is into it. And Diane has come into her own, hasn’t she? I like her now, whereas at first…not so much.
    • Layday says:
      @AlmondJoy yes Blackish has gotten better and better as the season has gone on. I love Dre’s mom and dad, but especially his mom. They are hilarious. Plus the people that he works with crack me up. And Diane is awesome. The chemistry between Dre(Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow (Tracy Ellis Ross) has become really great and believable. When they first announced that the two were going to play a married couple I was like huh? I guess that’s a testament to the acting ability of both of them.
  30. Livealot says:
    Shocked and relieved that American Idol and TWo and Half Men are getting canceled. I just knew those shows were never going to die despite it needing to ages ago.
    • FingerBinger says:
      It’s time for American Idol to end. It should have ended when Simon left.
      • briargal says:
        I disagree with this cancellation. American Idol was really improved this year with the new format. And I LOVE Harry and Keith!! JLo… she talks too much. Wish they would give the new format another year anyway. Hopefully the guy I picked at the beginning will win. Guess that eliminates Jax.
      • JenniferJustice says:
        Agreed. Soooo agreed. JLo isn’t anybody to be judging somebody else’s singing voice. Harry is cool, but he’s all over the place and another somebody who shouldn’t be judging singing voice quality. Keith is sweet, but he can’t carry a show. Mostly, the talent is gone. The few times I’ve checked it out, the contestants are not nearly as talented as the talent on The Voice. Sadly, I think The Voice stole all of AI’s thunder.
      • Chicky says:
        American Idol is my guilty pleasure. I love these judges together and how they treat the kids on the show. I’m embarrassed to say this and my friends make fun of me but I love JLO, she’s so beautiful and at ease with herself and so so sweet to the contestants. I know, I’m an idiot. 🙂 The interaction of the judges is perfect now. I like watching the journey’s of the singers and this show is much less about the judges than the Voice which I get so bored with after the awesome button pressing/chair turning round.
    • briargal says:
      Too bad about Two and a Half getting the axe ONLY because it will give Crazy Charlie the big head. He is already a smug, conceited idiot. I admit it was better with him there and really fell apart when he quit. Or was fired…let go… whatever.
  31. SamiHami says:
    I will miss The Following. Who doesn’t love Kevin Bacon? And James Purefoy was absolutely wonderful as the evil Joe Carroll
  32. Blythe says:
    I’ve been waiting for Hart of Dixie to get the boot ever since it first premiered. There’s so much unnecessary filler shows on television these days.
  33. bokchoi says:
    dammit. i love Battle Creek.
    • Sandra says:
      I do too!!! It’s funny in a different way than other shows are. It deserves another chance. And of course Forever does too.
      • bokchoi says:
        i havent watched Forever, but I was going to catch up and watch the season over the summer when nothing but garbage is on, so many people told me they liked it.
        im going to go and be sad about not knowing if Russ will ever make a move on Holly now…..
    • Bob Loblaw says:
      I know, me too, I’m sad.
  34. Abby_J says:
    I am sad about Forever and Backstrom. Happy for Agents of Shield and Agent Carter.
    I am questioning how NCIS can be in limbo. Unless they are thinking about making next season the last, I can’t imagine that it would be cancelled.
    Also, Castle wasn’t mentioned at all, I don’t think. I hope it gets renewed. It is a great mindless silly show.
    • cr says:
      Castle’s been renewed, though I think Stana Katic hasn’t signed a new contract.
    • Samtha says:
      I don’t think either of the NCIS shows are in limbo at all. The renewals just haven’t been officially announced yet.
  35. drea says:
    Omg hart of dixie 😦 nooooo!
  36. bravocueen says:
    Mike & Molly is hysterical. I also find Last Man on Earth pretty funny easy to watch. I don’t take television that seriously but it’s nice to find easy shows rather than the fighting, bickering and hate on so many shows these days.
  37. AlmondJoy says:
    Oh and about The Slap! It was my understanding that it was a miniseries that would end after Harry’s trial. I didn’t expected it to come back. Did any of you like the show?
    • Chris R says:
      I only watched one and a half episodes and disliked it. Seemed well-done, and well-acted, but I found I just didn’t care enough about any of the characters.
  38. anne_000 says:
    90% of the shows I watch have been cancelled. I don’t watch a lot of TV because most of it is crap.
  39. ¡mire usted! says:
    State of Affairs – Yikes! What will Katherine do now? Back to RomComs?
    McCarthys – Great premise and Laurie Metcalf is great but it needed better casting support.
    Cristela – I love this show! Again, the lead actress was great but the writing needed to be better and it needed better support characters. Gabriel Igleias is hilarious but he was hardly seen. It could’ve been fixed! The premise of the show didn’t quite work. She lives with her sister’s family.
    Mindy Project – bummer!
    Hawaii Five O? – cancelled?! I thought that had high ratings! Alex O’Loughlin is unemployed? TV land is brutal.
    • SmellyCat says:
      I still cannot believe that anyone thought they could bring Katherine Heigel back to television and anyone would want to watch her. She’s horrendous and totally unlikable. She needs to find a new career!
  40. Madpoe says:
    WOO! Supernatural!!! I love my boys!
    Glad that some of my CW faves got renewed as well as Fox’s Empire and Sleepy Hollow.
    Undateble grew on me due to Chris.
    • Beckysuz says:
      I love undateable!! It’s hilarious. And I’m from the Detroit area so I love that it’s based here. Also the actor that plays Shelley is so funny and I love him
    • Samtha says:
      I tuned in for the live episode and was hooked. I liked it so much, I watched the West Coast version, too, and then went and watched all the past episodes for this season. It’s genuinely funny.
    • Ange says:
      I like Undateable now too! Only change I’d suggest: they need to get rid of that misogynist skinny guy with the glasses who’s always chasing after the sister. He’s a gross waste of space.
  41. GoodNamesAllTaken says:
    I don’t know half of the shows, but is anybody else watching Schitt’s Creek? It’s funny, I thought, and renewed. The first episode didn’t convince me, but it grew on me by the second.
    • NorthernGirl_20 says:
      I love Schitt’s Creek! I wasn’t sure at first but I think it’s hilarious. Always loved Eugene Levy.
      Have you watched Young Drunk Punks? Now that’s hilarious. My fav show right now.
    • Chicky says:
      Schitts Creek is SO funny! I love this show. Glad it’s renewed.
      I’m gonna look for young drunk punks , thanks Northern girl
  42. meh says:
    I know it’s had a good run, but I’m still sad about Park and Rec. On the other hand, thank god someone is finally putting Glee out of its misery.
  43. Mercedes says:
    Disappointed that Forever was cancelled. I thought it was a pretty good and intelligent show. I’m just glad they finished the storyline involving Adam before the axe came down!
    Last Man Standing is probably one of the stupidest and so not funny shows out there. I can’t believe it has been renewed.
    Glad The Odd Couple is gone. Chandler Bing is annoying.
  44. Michelle says:
    I have heard that CBS’s Stalker is cancelled as well. I am a little bummed about this since it was a little something different than your average cop show. I’m glad American Idol is finally ending (although about 8 season too late IMO), but I can’t understand how Two Broke Girls is still on. I watched the first season and it was pretty funny, but they got away from the funny stuff and started being too raunchy, even for my taste. Maybe someone will wise up soon.
    • EM says:
      Stalker was an interesting idea for a show, but I think that the characters aren’t that endearing. I’ve watched it all the way, but I still don’t find myself caring for these characters and find them to be a little cold. It’s not a good line up of actors in terms of their chemistry. CSI Cyber, on the other, has a good fit. All the actors fit together very well.
  45. A.Key says:
    THE X-FILES OMG
  46. I guess I was the on watching Battle Creek, but watching it On Demand does not count. I thought it was a good ensemble cast.
    • bokchoi says:
      yes! the third person watching Battle Creek has joined the thread!
      I love that show.
    • Lola says:
      Not the only one. I think we are four now?
      I also liked The Unusuals, and of course, it got cancelled.
  47. JenniferJustice says:
    A bit glad that Heigl lost that show. She’s still on my crap list.
  48. Ceree says:
    Ioan Gruffudd is so underrated, I feel so bad, I wamted this to be his opportunity to shine. 🙁 F@ckdammit.
  49. Dani L. says:
    Any word on Criminal Minds? I’m kind of hoping it got the axe though I doubt it did. I used to love that show but it’s been so disappointing over the past few seasons.
    And yay for HTGAWM and OUAT coming back! Though I must say this last season of Once wasn’t good. At all. I sighed and rolled my eyes more times than I can count. Outlaw Queen and Robin Hood is so boring, and I’m sick of Captain Swan. I think I’m only here for Rumbelle at this point (hey, what can I say? My ass is firmly rooted in Rumpel’s corner) .
  50. ¡mire usted! says:
    The Following – I love Kevin Bacon. I hope this isn’t a blow for him. He’s a great actor. I only watched one episode and I didn’t understand the plot.
    No more American Idol! Yipee! Jennifer Lopez will be just fine. I heard she’s hitting up Vegas soon.
    • MourningTheDeathOfMusic says:
      American Idol should have stopped after the first couple of seasons.
  51. Chris R says:
    I’m super excited that Galavant and iZombie are being renewed! I was worried about those two. Kind of shocked about some of the shows in limbo. Seems like there’re so many reality tv shows limboing.
  52. Gal says:
    I have no idea how 2 Broke Girls can still be on. Worst. Show. Ever.
  53. shukra says:
    Saddest about the cancellation of Forever.
  54. Amy says:
    So glad to see Forever fans here! I’m sad to see it go too. The premise was a bit cheesy but luckily they never overused the whole killing off Henry and reviving him in the East River plotpoint. I will miss that show.
  55. Hollibird says:
    Mysteries of Laura isnt bad. Just get rid of the horrible children. Of course renew The Good Wife. Why in the world would they renew Last Man Standing. I tried 2 episodes and wanted to hang myself from boredom.
    • Lola says:
      I am a fan of the original series “Los Misterios de Laura.” Thought it funny how in Spain, the police look like regular Joe and Jane, meanwhile in NYC they look like the beautiful people.
  56. Andrea says:
    Super sad about Forever and the Mindy Project (funniest comedy on tv IMO).
  57. hanie says:
    Not sad Revenge & Resurrection got cancelled tbh. The plot started to go all over the place. But I do like The Following, Constantine & Forever. Gahh… too bad I guess~ And I don’t think they lost much by cancelling CSI: Cyber. The plot so far is not that interesting.
  58. jinglebellsmell says:
    THE MIDDLE has been my favorite for years, and I’m so glad that it got renewed! Also super happy to see Agent Carter and Madame Secretary renewed!
  59. Leslye says:
    According to *TV Line*, CBS has renewed today, *The Good WIfe*, *NCIS*, *NCiS:Los Angeles, *Person of Interest*, *HawaiI Five-0*, *CSI:Cyber*, *Blue Bloods*, and I believe 3 others. *CSI*, the mother ship, has not been renewed or canceled, but they are considering a TV movie to wrap things up, with possibly William Petersen returning, although nothing is set in stone or signed.
    Forgive me if this has already been posted.
  60. EM says:
    I’m disappointed about Forever being cancelled, but I think shows with immortal characters don’t work for whatever reason and yet tedious shows with annoying characters like the Walking Dead go on for more than two seasons, as do shows like The Following. That show Amsterdam was cancelled after one season. The TV version of Highlander didn’t last that long either.
    I have to say I’m surprised the Following lasted this long and I’m not a fan of the Blacklist or Stalker [there is something missing in that show].
  61. amanda says:
    I really like the Taste and hope it is renewed! Chef Ludo!
  62. MourningTheDeathOfMusic says:
    It’s too bad Gracepoint didn’t take here in the States, but to be honest, the network (or more to the point, PBS) should have contracted to show the English version, Broadchurch.
    It is a brilliantly done show recently picked up for a third season. I don’t much care for dramas, but this one had me hooked.
    • Abby_J says:
      I liked Gracepoint well enough, but having watched the first season of Broadchurch first, it was too much like watching it over again.
      That said, Broadchurch stresses me out. I love it, and will not miss season three, but can’t someone be happy in that show? Even a little bit? 🙂 Still, the acting is great and David Tennant is well, David Tennant. I adore him. I can’t wait for his Netflix show!
  63. TOKEN5151 says:
    I’m particularly bummed about the demise of Battle Creek. I find it hard these days to get excited about any new network series knowing that if it doesn’t catch fire immediately, the network suits will cancel it. Why get invested in any new characters?
  64. Lola says:
    Honestly, why cancel Forever, Constantine and Battle Creek?
    When it comes to Battle Creek, CBS is the culprit, I mean, yes, I DVR it more than watched on Sunday’s but found it annoying on how the Good Wife would creep into their time slot! And it happened more than once. So I was expecting Battle Creek and got the Good Wife instead.
    I liked Forever, you did not have to think. Also liked Constantine. Is as if I have to watch stuff that the masses like, just because. And, can we talk about the Red Band Society, I thought that show was cute!
    Plus, they are killing me, what! POE and Elementary in limbo!! Come on!
  65. Itsa Reallyme says:
    How is Elementary on the bubble? That’s a great show!
    I’m disappointed about Resurrection. I enjoyed watching it with my 14 yr old.
  66. Abby_J says:
    I’m a little surprised that American Crime got renewed. I thought it was a gonner, based on ratings.
    It is one of those shows that I have really gotten into, but has been painful to watch. There is like NO ONE to root for on that show. At least on Secrets and Lies, you figured out that the father wasn’t guilty early enough on, that you could root for him to be cleared. On American Crime, I kind of wanted a nuke to fall on Modesto and take them all out. That said, I am hooked and keep watching.
    Surely next season has to be with different people and a different crime? I’m expecting closure (and quite possibly a nuke) in the finale this week!
