New ‘Crimson Peak’ trailer released: Tom Hiddleston is terrifying?!

CP1

So many of you are counting down the days until Crimson Peak is released (in October). I’m not one of you. While I like Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska, I’m a big ol’ scaredy cat when it comes to intense horror stories like this. If there’s a ghostly apparition or a painting of a child that suddenly comes to life, I’m out. But since Hiddles is the closest thing to crack around here, I will provide the Crimson Peak-related stuff. On Tuesday, they released new production stills and an “interactive” (video) poster. Today, they’ve just released the latest trailer. You can see the new trailer here or watch the embed below:

So scary. I can’t even. Although I did enjoy the voice p0rn from Tom Hiddleston. He has a great voice and I never realized how menacing it could be. Weird, right? And that part where he’s climbing on top of her? Crap, I’m probably going to have to see this. Damn it! I’m going to have nightmares for weeks but it will be worth it if Tommy is The (Dangerous/Horrific) Sex.

Update: And here’s the new international trailer too. Mm… MOAR HIDDLES.

Here’s the “poster” or whatever. See, even this scared the crap out of me.

  1. M.A.F. says:

    YAY!!

That’s all I got for now.

  2. insomniac says:

This needs to be out right now.

  3. RPG says:

Tom Hiddleston is a walking anachronism in this film.

    • Marie H says:

Walking anachronism ? what do you mean by that? sorry english is not my first language.

      • jammypants says:

Think of people walking around with cell phones in Downton Abbey. That’s an anachronism. I guess RPG is referring to Tom as a modern man misplaced in a period film?

  4. et alors says:

International trailer. 1:54 might be of interest. 😉

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19X8K5grCpM

    • Diana B says:

Holy F! Yaaaaasss definitively of interest! damn! he is sexay.

    • Leah says:

Did I just see Tom’s little behind?

    • mia girl says:

I actually prefer this trailer overall… and not just because of the sneak peek of Hiddle’s bum

      • Lilacflowers says:

I prefer it as well, although I suspect it may have given away too much plot.

    • Allegra says:

And here is gif with Tom’s butt:
      twitter.com/godsaveloki/status/598520923302535169

    • MtnRunner says:

The Hiddlebum finally makes it’s appearance… Tom’s crack is CRACK.

      • Diana B says:

        *Snort* So true…

      • Lilacflowers says:

Finally? It has been making far too many appearances. First, I have to cope with Rachel Weisz shoving her heel up it and now Mia groping it.

      • MtnRunner says:

Lilac, I didn’t get enough detail in TDBS. I’m hoping for a better view in CP.

      • Lilacflowers says:

You didn’t get enough detail, even though the entire scene was shot with the camera aiming up at his butt, because Rachel stuck her foot in the way.

  5. Lilacflowers says:

Aaarrrgggghhh! Can’t watch until after work

    • mimif says:

Maybe don’t watch it Lilac. I feel like I just saw the entire movie.

    • MtnRunner says:

They do seem to be giving a lot away. I won’t watch it more than a few times lest I desensitize myself.

Tom looks perfect for this role. So glad Cumby pulled out of it. He doesn’t do “subtle menace” well.

      • Dara says:

So right about Cumby! The parts where Tom has me going ‘ooohhh’, I think Ben would have had me going ‘eewwww’.

I still think a large part of BC dropping out (or he and GDT coming to a general understanding to part ways) was the age difference once Mia (or was it still Emma Stone at that point?) was cast as Edith. Rather than the seduction being romantic with an undertone of vaguely creepy, it would have been just plain creepy.

      • Cay says:

Emma Stone dropped out first, but yes, you make a good point. There’s more than a decade age difference between the two them, I think.

  6. browniecakes says:

    Sex. Horror. Hiddles. Hunnam.
Hmmmm. We can watch through our fingers together Kaiser in the back row.

  7. Mary-Alice says:

Oh, nice. Can’t wait for TIFF. I hope they include it in the Midnight Madness, so I can see it in the late hours and head straight to an after party in the dark! And I do love Casa Loma. I went there when they were filming but didn’t see much (I went for a different event though). Love Del Toro! He is a magician!

  8. PunkyMomma says:

    Eh.

    • mia girl says:

This made me laugh! The story does feel a bit like many other gothic scary movies.

But you have to admit it looks amazingly well done with a great cast.
I love Mia Wasikowska and thinks she’s going to be a great anchor for all the crazy stuff DelToro is going to throw at us! AHHHHHH

  9. Samtha says:

It looks great. And that flash of Tommy being sexy/evil (evilly sexy?) on the bed… Yasssss.

I’ll only see it if that little dog she’s carrying survives the film though.

    • MG says:

I keep rewinding to see the part on the bed…lord have mercy that man is sexy.

      • Samtha says:

Did you watch the international version linked a few posts up? It has a few more seconds of that scene, and rawr. Hiddles is SO sexy.

      • MtnRunner says:

Tom gettin’ it on… that hit my cinematic G-spot.

    • RPG says:

If the script draft released last year is anything to go by, then yes, the dog survives.

  10. Abbott says:

‘You must never go below this level’ followed immediately with a clip of Mia doing just that. Sigh. Girl, run for your life!

I see Charlie is keeping the Jax Teller voice?

    • mimif says:

I know right? Although in interviews Charlie is at that stage now where his accent is just sort of Americanized. My friend from London who’s lived in the states now for a decade is the same, she calls her accent “flat”.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Lots of actors use a fake accent for interviews.

      • mimif says:

I generally use a fake accent when I post on CB too.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Mimif, I read that as if you were pretending to be Marlene Dietrich.

      • Dara says:

@lilac, at least you understood it. That accent had me completely lost. I was about to ask @mimif if she wouldn’t mind repeating that last part.

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

If she wants to do something stupid – her choice, but why take the dog? Run doggy, run!

  11. Franca says:

It seems visually stunning but not that scary.

    • KellyBee says:

I didn’t find anything scary about this movie at all.

    • koko says:

I have to agree. Oscar nods for visual, special effects, set design and wardrobe. I have a high threshold for “scary” and it doesn’t seem that nail bitey. I hold out hope that it isn’t all in the trailers and it will be much more “scary” at the cinema. But it looks good and I’m anxious to see it.

  12. **sighs** says:

Mmmmmm….I love horror movies. You get it, Hiddles.

  13. Mzizkrizten says:

The blond looks so much like Martha Plimpton.

  14. Chackler says:

Nope, as much as I love Hiddles, can’t do it.

  15. nikki says:

Oh…Hiddles. Does anyone know if he’s still shaking it up with Ms. Olsen?

  16. meme says:

Charlie Hunnam is barely in the trailer…this distresses me.

  17. lylaoooo says:

i like the fact that Charlie Hunnam ♥ is on this!

  18. ncboudicca says:

Hiddles can scare the panties off me any day. I won’t mind.

  19. Dani says:

It looks good but…they basically give away the entire movie between the two trailers.

  20. A. Key says:

Looks promising, but still too many cliches for my taste.

International trailer is the best one, the other two make it seem so boring and predictable.

That sex scene however, mmm, worth seeing it for that alone.

  21. Miss Jupitero says:

Ahhhhh this going to be right up my alley. 🙂

    • MtnRunner says:

The horror or the sex?? 🙂

      • Miss Jupitero says:

All of the above, but specifically the Gothic horror aspect. Love all the visual details. Yum.

      • MtnRunner says:

As much as I love sexy, naked Hiddles getting down with Mia, I’m most interested in seeing the costumes, set design and cinematography.

  22. jammypants says:

So…they just spoiled everything. This is like a cliffnotes synopsis of the movie.

  23. Dancinnancy says:

I think GDT has worked too hard to “spoil” it but I definitely feel better about the plot.

    Sexytimes with Tom!!

  24. MtnRunner says:

In answer to Kaiser’s unspoken question: HELL YES TO INFINITY.

Sharpe is giving Coriolanus a serious run for his money as my favorite version of the PuddleTom.

  25. lila fowler says:

Meh. I guess I’ve seen too many horror movies that this was like, …nothing. The scariest thing were the womens’ wigs. What budget bin did those come out of?

  26. TotallyBiased says:

“Will no-one speak for the ass?” OMFL! I am avoiding actually WATCHING the trailers, because seems like they are jam packed with spoilers, but I could watch the gif of Mia’s hands making us all happy for HOURS. In fact, see y’all later–I be in my bunk. For the next five months. 😉

    • Ava says:

This looks awesome! If Stephen King says its scary it’s scary…… Not slasher but psychological and creepy as hell and disturbing.

    • MtnRunner says:

TB, dat ass is getting plenty of commentary above. Enjoy your bunk time, lady.

  27. Steph says:

Kaiser, I’m with you on the thriller/scary movie front — watching the trailer I kept thinking, “F THAT!” But alas, I’m a Hiddles lover 🙂 and just to see him I’ll suck it up and watch this movie

  28. Camille (The Original) says:

I don’t care for that Hiddleston bloke at all, I find him very unattractive and over rated as an actor, but I want to see this because I’m a del Toro fan and this looks gorgeous (plus I love horror/Gothic films). But Charlie whats his name makes for some nice eye candy.

    • EN says:

Well, there is one person who finds TH unattractive. I didn’t think such people existed. I guess, it goes to show that people do have different tastes.
I saw him first time as Loki and I thought he was beautiful . I looked him up on the internet )). And found out that originally he wanted to play Thor. Hmmm.

      • Camille (The Original) says:

There are plenty of people ‘outside of the internet’ who don’t find this man attractive. 😉

    • MtnRunner says:

Loki doesn’t light up my lady bits like Prince Hal does. That was my favorite Tom “look” until he transformed into the brick shithouse in Coriolanus.

  29. et alors says:

Spanish trailer with a little interview with Tom at the beginning:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtJ8A7I5Hgw&feature=youtu.be

  30. Camil says:

Crimson Peak looks stunning and now I’m curious, the part with the tub full of blood made me think about magic, demons and Bluebeard. Is Sharpe hiding corpses under the house?
Yeah, completely gothic scenery. Maybe it’s not a horror film but for somebody who loves gothic elements this movie will be a feast!

    (reading The Monk obsessively) xD

  31. Lola says:

I am so watching this movie, counting on that Guillo will not disappoint!

  32. kri says:

Oh damn!!! is it October yet??!

    • Allegra says:

      Unfortunately, not yet.
But we have more good news, from@colliderfrosty:

“tomorrow morning I can post more from my CRIMSON PEAK set visit. Get ready for some @twhiddleston and @jes_chastain quotes. With audio.”

    • TotallyBiased says:

Eric Vespe (from AICN) has a one on one interview with Mr. H going up tomorrow as well–the embargo for set visit reports ends tomorrow am! He’s at @EricVespe

      • MtnRunner says:

It won’t post until noon EST on AICN. First full length interview in how long??? Has it been since Coriolanus?

As promised, I’ll be changing my moniker. Sourdough? CouchClimber? MtnGoddess?? So many good ones from the C’bitches…

      • Lilacflowers says:

Eric Vespe has a one on one interview with Eric Vespe in which he allows Tom Hiddleston to confirm or deny Eric Vespe’s views of Guillermo del Toro.

      • NUTBALLS says:

That about sums it up. He seemed much more interested in talking with/about his old friend, del Toro, which was the more interesting part of the article, imo.

  33. chelsea says:

Mia W. is really getting overexposed, isn’t she? I must have seen her in five films last year.

    • Mary-Alice says:

I agree. But she is so forgettable. I can’t memorize her face for the life of me and in CP she looks like Kirsten Dunst. She just has no face of her own, IMHO.

    • Dara says:

@chelsea – you must be making up for lost time, her imdb profile only has 2 or so movies each year for the last few years, none of them could be describe as big releases. Did you enjoy the films you saw? Tracks is definitely on my list to see and I thought she more than held her own in the scenes with Tilda and Tom in Only Lovers Left Alive.

  34. TotallyBiased says:

Why does the sight of #Hiddlesbum fill me with the desire to Waltz? (well, among other things.)
Also, who here now REALLY sees the significance of her two grasping hands belt buckle, seen in the on-set pics?! Heeheehee!

    • Kim says:

Maybe it’s a fan thing, he looks like Snape to me in this, like dirty hair gross 🙂

What’s up with the wigs on the ladies and some of the CGI though? Did they have budget issues? Serious question, some of it looks kinda bad.

      • Mary-Alice says:

        Looks realistic to me.

      • Kim says:

I saw some pics, lemme tell you, Mia’s is bad. Looks like yarn or straw at some points. At a couple of parts the CGI looks off in the trailer, but that can change.

I do hope the budget’s not huge because they’re doing full scale marketing and I don’t think it’ll recoup if you’re talking $150 mill+ to cover. October’s a rough month, with Paranormal 5 and that big budget witch action movie with Vin diesel coming out.

      • TotallyBiased says:

@Kim–we’re clearly looking at different images, because everything I’ve seen has been gorgeous and the hair has been period-accurate. JC’s ‘Mrs. Danvers’ hair is an awesome Hitchcock tribute!

      • Ankhel says:

Taste differs. Yes. Taste differs. Perfectly okay… Nooooo, you’re wrong!! Tom looks delicious, and dirty only in the metaphorical sense! Sorry, Kim.

  35. P'enny says:

    i still haven’t recovered….

  36. Jag says:

I will watch, hiding behind my fingers just to listen to Tom!

  37. EN says:

I’d prefer a movie with all the same cast ( well, I don’t particularly care for Mia) but without horror. They all look so yummy. ))

I also keep thinking, did they readjust the script for Tom and Mia?
Because I am not seeing Cumberbatch and Emma Stone playing this the same way. Emma Stone has a much stronger presence on screen than Mia.

    • Lilacflowers says:

GDT did a major re-write when Jessica chose the sister part. He also did rewrites during filming

And I would love to see these four do something like a Noel Coward play.

    • Ava says:

Yes Tom talks about how it was rewritten with him in mind. He talks about it in his new audio interview.

  38. NUTBALLS says:

Ladies, here is Eric Vespe’s report of his set visit and interview with Tom:

    http://www.aintitcool.com/node/71507

    Enjoy!!

    • TotallyBiased says:

Mtn, my dear Goddess–is that you? You’ve redecorated! 😉

    • koko says:

Wow that man is full of words. Good interview but sometimes less is more.
I burn incense too, right before my parents arrive, wonder if it’s for the same reason. 😉

      • NUTBALLS says:

        Tom’s still a ramblin’ man…

P’enny, you’ll still need the ball gag.

      • Lilacflowers says:

By “that man”, do you mean Tom or that interviewer who wrote more about himself and talked more about himself in the questions than he allowed Tom to talk?

      • koko says:

I agree the interviewer wrote more about himself then was necessary but I disagree with your other point. I never at any point felt Tom wasn’t allowed to talk. He did just fine.

    • Allegra says:

And here is the Interview with Tom:
      collider.com/crimson-peak-tom-hiddleston-talks-progressing-from-romance-to-kink-guillermo-del-toro-and-more/

      • TotallyBiased says:

The audio to that is a must hear! You realize where the errors in transcribing are…plus you can tell where he’s thinking so hard about his answers (wants to avoid the Marvel Snipers on loan to Legendary!)
I felt in the AICN interview that Quint actually talks too much (I know, it’s his style!) and in this one the reporters just ask questions and get out of the way.

      • NUTBALLS says:

That Collider interview was good. Less journo commentary, more Chatty Tom.

He likes the word “amazing” doesn’t he?

      • Allegra says:

        @TotallyBiased :

You’re right, the first interview was kind boring. Maybe he spent more time with GDT and much less with Tom. And there is no audio or video.
On the other hand, Collider’s interview was great and really funny. Tom said that he did not want to give to much away, but now i understand a lot things that we saw in these 2 or 3 trailers.

      • Allegra says:

        @NUTBALLS or @ MtnRunner:

He does, but I feel that is a genuine feeling. Afertwall, GDT did built the
        mansion and the rest.
And i had a good laugh when the female interviewer ask him about the word kinky.

      • NUTBALLS says:

What I liked about the Quint/Vespe interview was the on-set stories/impressions he gave. Especially the ones around the kissing scene: “Cut! Very nice! Get a room!”, the Hitch quote, del Toro’s reaction when Tom wanted another take.

I hope someone will ask Tom to do the CP story as Ali G during an video interview, cause I’m having a hard time imagining it. I have no doubt it was funny, though.

The ONE TIME he wasn’t yammering on was when asked about the kink, dangit. Fingers crossed that sex scene is fleshed out in the film.

      • Dara says:

And here’s what keeps me coming back for more. Yes, he rattles on and on, and on…and on…and yet always seems to stay on track, remembers what the question was and eventually brings it home with a cohesive point. All without giving anything plot-critical away. It’s mystifying actually. With most other actors I’ll reach critical mass and fervently wish for them to STOP talking at some point (some sooner than others), but not with Hiddleston.

And he’s not hard to look at either. Sigh. Is it October yet?

    • et alors says:

The anecdotes about Tom quoting Will Smith, Guillermo making fun of Tom for wanting another take of the kissing scene with Mia and Tom’s response (“It’s for the speech, I swear.”), and Tom’s narration of CP’s story as Ali G are funny.

  39. TotallyBiased says:

You guys had me totally confused: Ali G? Quoting Hitch? Then I went and read Quint’s on-set visit report. Aha! I’d assumed he’d put all of his Hiddleston stuff in the one-on-one interview piece, not realizing he had some great Hiddles material in the other report as well.

  40. TotallyBiased says:

In case it isn’t COMPLETELY clear, AICN has two reports up from Quint. This is the one on one interview with Mr. H: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/71508. And it is lovely, when Quint lets him talk. 😉

  41. Lindsey says:

Can’t wait, can’t wait, can’t wait!!!!! I love Guillermo Del Toro. I hope it’s as good as it looks!
