Kim Kardashian is ‘livid’ about Rihanna’s special Vogue Met Gala cover

vogue met gala

This is the special edition cover of Vogue Magazine’s “Met Gala issue”. Rihanna was chosen as the cover girl, which… I mean, I guess that makes sense. If I had editorial control of Vogue, I would have put Gong Li on the cover, probably. But Rihanna’s omelette dress was one of the most-discussed looks and Anna Wintour loves Rih-Rih.

But as soon as the cover came out, many noted that Kim Kardashian’s name wasn’t even included on the cover. What’s that about? The Daily Mail theorized that Wintour “punished” Kim for being one of the celebrities posting selfies and social media photos. And now “sources” claim Kim is “livid” that she was snubbed so publicly.

Vogue magazine’s 2015 Met Gala Special Edition, on stands now, features a cover photo of Rihanna, alongside of a list of several celebrities’ names, including Kardashian’s 19-year-old model half-sister Kendall Jenner, as well as Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, George and Amal Clooney, Derek Jeter, Jennifer Lopez, FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson, and Lady Gaga.

But Kardashian didn’t warrant a mention, and sources say she wasn’t happy about it.

“Kim lives for Vogue and has been obsessed with it forever,” an insider tells Radar. “The fact that they didn’t even mention her on the cover is hilarious, considering she tried so hard to be exactly what she thought Anna Wintour would want for the Met Gala.”

But perhaps the internet-breaking mother to one-year-old North West tried too hard, as the source says, “Kim’s sister Kendall getting a mention on the cover over her is a huge slap in the face! She’s livid.”

[From Radar]

Yeah, I don’t actually believe that Kim “tried so hard” to be Met Gala appropriate. She didn’t follow the theme and she just recycled a look that Beyonce wore a few years ago. But sure, I bet Kim is “livid”. I bet Kanye is yelling at Anna Wintour as we speak.

I’m sure Kanye is more upset HIS name wasn’t on the cover.

  2. mememe says:

Kanye doesn’t care as long as Beyoncé wasn’t snubbed.

    • vavavoom says:

I’m happy she didn’t get the cover at least..didn’t like her look, and that hair!

    • denisemich says:

Lol. madonna sjp and cher were also not mentioned. Kim shouldn’t have posted those pic’s

    • mia girl says:

You know who I think is probably a little pissed, Derek Jeter’s girlfriend Hannah Davis.

Both guys mentioned on the cover, Clooney and Pattinson are coupled with their wives/girlfriend’s names. But they didn’t do that for Jeter. And she’s a high profile model herself.

      Hahaha! So true

  3. MG says:

Love it. That’s mean to say but I can’t help it. Over this family.

  4. Blythe says:

Out of all people, Gong Li? Really?

  5. Hannah says:

Kendall was the chosen kardashian I guess. How many in that family is supposed to be on the cover?
Anyway I kind of agree Rihanna was the most noteworthy, her or fka twigs in my opnion.

  6. Beatrix says:

OMG, these people’s problems are so real….. 🙂 must be nice.

  7. vavavoom says:

Oh, the heartache of a vapid reality star.. I’m sad for her. Let’s start a go fund me.

  8. Mich says:

“Kim lives for Vogue and has been obsessed with it forever,” …

What an incredibly vapid thing to ‘live’ for.

  9. Liberty says:

And, Reason #23001 that American Vogue is not the Vogue I read.

    • Liberty says:

EDIT for clarity — not because KK isn’t getting in all issues and whinging, but because US Vogue is now about reality show people and buy-ins from Anna’s little world — instead of style, instead of fashion, instead of finding style news. Plopping a KK in is not style news. Moreover it seems like a weird melding of the 1980s and People magazine. Predictable everything. It makes me sleepy. I prefer any international Vogue to the US. For a lot of reasons, I assume Anna is more a business woman than someone truly engaged with style. And that is fine, but it makes (to me) American Vogue pointless (esp post-Andre Leon Talley).

Somewhere in the gap between CZ Guest’s teacups and Ivanka Trump, and Kim appearing at Vegas club, there exists a world of women who appreciate fashion. Other magazines serve them.

  10. capepopsie says:

Wow, seeing her in that dress again.
She really does look naked. I would
never ever dare to go out looking like that!

  11. Fiona says:

The Kardiashians should not be allowed to take over everything. They’re talentless, useless and pointless. It’s bad enough that they’re allowed at these events.

    Her dress is hideous.

  12. DEB says:

    Good!

  13. Fiona says:

I love Rihanna, she’s actually famous for her talent.

  14. Inconceivable! says:

I dislike that dress on Kim. Does she have a waistline?

    • MonicaQ says:

I thought that too. I normally don’t body shade but she’s kinda boxy.

    • JenniferJustice says:

Must be time for another fat redistribution. Next time we see her, her waiste will be smaller with her praising her waiste trainer, and her butt will be even bigger. Sorry.

  15. G says:

Ha! I love it. I love that Rihanna got the cover with her “omelette dress”. I love even more that Kendall got recognized and Kim got ignored. LOVES IT. Get used to it Kim!

  16. Jayna says:

I loved the cover. Rihanna’s gown was on theme and glorious for the Met Ball, and high fashion. She was the perfect person to be on the cover because she went there in a big way and in honor of the theme of the night.

Rihanna talking about the gown, which she found herself researching on-line. “It’s Chinese couture and it’s made by Guo Pei. It’s handmade by one Chinese woman and it took her two years to make.”

    About the designer.
“It also caps off a big moment for Pei, who is fresh off a collaboration with MAC Cosmetics and has two garments in the Met’s exhibition. She is a go-to designer for Chinese stars like Li Bingbing and Zhang Ziyi and has been profiled by The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times Magazine, but her name remains relatively unknown in Western fashion (a curious phenomenon of the kind the Met’s exhibit is well-poised to address).

“Profiling her in 2010, Cathy Horyn compared Pei to Charles James, the American couturier who was the subject of last year’s Costume Institute exhibit. In a comment that seems prescient of Rihanna’s show-stopping look on Monday, Pei told the blog of her designs, “The focus and the attention paid to this dress will make it remembered by the world—[what] I want is to make them remember. . . . It is my responsibility to let the world know China’s tradition and past, and to give the splendor of China a new expression. I hope that people do know China in this way.”

    • bcgirl says:

it took her 2 years and 3 litters of Golden Retriever puppies to make.

There are thousands of dog & cat fur farms in China. thousands. Whole cities have sprung up around the industry. A big percentage of the dogs & cats are dyed all one color for uniformity. Chartreuse and purple were hugely popular for awhile, globally. Golden Retrievers and German Shepherds are favoured breeds for fur trim, etc. This is so obviously puppy fur.
      WHY IS THIS OK????

      • PennyLane says:

Hmmm…your point is a valid one. It’s hard to say what animal that fur is from because it’s been dyed and trimmed to almost look fake. But nobody has said it was fake. Has the fur on the dress been positively identified by the designer?

Side note: a professor of mine lived in Hong Kong for several years in the Seventies while doing anthropological fieldwork in a small farm town near the Chinese border. She said that a couple of times every year, people from the fancy Hong Kong restaurants would come around and buy up all the puppies in the village. 🙁

  17. Tracy says:

    Over Kim.

  18. Jayna says:

That’s what she gets for all of those photos she was posting from the ball.

  19. robicheaux says:

…and yet the Earth continues to spin on it’s axis.

  20. lucy2 says:

I think the gown Zhang Ziyi wore was the prettiest, but Rihanna’s was clearly the most dramatic. Of course it should be the cover, plus she’s actually turned into quite the fashionista. It’s the perfect representation of the night.

  21. nikzilla says:

Kendall is way more “Vogue” than Kim will ever be. Here’s to hoping that Anna is finally done humoring Kim.

  22. klein says:

Rihanna’s dress makes a great cover photo. I wasn’t terribly keen on the gown in the photos from the event, but I’m not surprised they chose it for the cover shot, it looks really dramatic.

Kim should be grateful to be allowed to attend. How much more does one person need? She’s already had more from life than she’s worked for.

  23. danielle says:

Kim k totally phoned in her met look – she didn’t even have the most tacky nude look gown! That honor went to Beyonce! I love that Rihanna actually researched to find a great look, she was incredible!

  24. moo says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  25. LA Juice says:

Did you know Big Bird was almost a passenger on the space shuttle challenger? That thought chills me to the bone. This Rhianna “dress” however- I’d gladly send it up in the challenger.

  26. Bread and Circuses says:

On one hand, this may be just more Pimp Mama Kris spin-doctoring to get her family some ink.

On the other, even if it is, it’s brilliantly spun as usual. I *want* to get my schadenfreude glee on over this story — Kim is heartbroken she can’t get validation for her narcissism? OH, GOOD. MWAHAHAHA.

  27. tabasco says:

Assuming Kanye is yelling at Anna Wintour (which wouldn’t surprise me), he’d better start watching his arse – and his mouth. He’s already been given a LOT of latitude by various A-listers in the “putting up with Kim K around” category and, contrary to what I’m sure he believes, he’s not oh so special and talented that his b*tching won’t wear thin enough for Anna and others to start telling both Kanye and his wife to F off entirely.

  28. Iheartgossip says:

RiRi has talent. You, Kim are a simple minded prostitute. Now do you understand?

  29. Kate says:

I doubt Kim is livid. Beyoncé on the other hand…

  30. Mercedes says:

I’ll celebrate the day when the name “Kardashian” finally goes into obscurity. The only talent they seem to have is to be attention whores.
