Kim Kardashian and Kanye West got together “for real” back in 2011, after knowing each other and being friends (possibly with benefits) for years beforehand. Amber Rose always said that Kanye was fooling around on her with Kim, and Kris Humphries tried to make it sound like Kim cheated on him (although Humphries could never really make it stick). It was shortly after Kim and Kris Humphries’ nothing marriage that Kim apparently contacted Kanye and basically pointed out that they were both single at the same time and maybe they should finally do this. That’s what Kim told Billy Bush this week!
Kim Kardashian says there was an instant attraction between her Kanye West when they first met years ago. Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush sat down exclusively with the reality star, who said she was “always attracted” to the rapper, long before he became her husband.
‘When I first met him, we worked on a project together and there was definitely a spark, but we were in other relationships and we kept our distance,” she said. “We stayed in touch here and there and then when he wasn’t in relationships, you know, it’s just our timing would always not really coincide. And then, I think it was six months after I was newly single in like 2012, I was like why not? Like, what am I waiting for?” she continued.
It was actually Kim who pursued Kanye after her short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries ended.
“I called [Kanye] because I’m sure it was really hurtful that I got married and, even though it’s not like we communicated all the time, I knew what he was thinking. So I thought he was going to call me as soon as he knew that I was single again,” she explained. “He didn’t, and so I called him and I said, ‘Hello? I thought you were at least going to call me and ‘I told you so,’ something?’ And then – he’s always been a good friend to me, like, we’ve always been there for each other – then he invited me to a fashion show of his in Paris and I went, and then the magic happened.”
Having come out of a very public divorce, Kim was initially hesitant to start a new relationship.
“But then in my head I was like, ‘You know what? Screw it. Like, this is probably what I’ve been waiting for, it’s been in front of my face,'” she said.
I enjoy the little lies Kim tells, like we won’t figure it out – she did NOT wait six months after her marriage to Kris Humphries. Kim and Kris split in October 2011. She was seen publicly with Kanye as early as December 2011. And she was pregnant with North while she was still technically married to Kris! But whatever, it’s fine. It all worked out in the end.

@Shambles – Since Kim doesn’t seem to do anything without Kanye’s approval, I’m under the impression that he encourages all of her little procedures. It would make sense to me anyway, since he is so obsessed with having the perfect wife and he is constantly encouraging her to change her appearance (blonde hair, an entirely new wardrobe). Kim is so brainless and obsessed with her husband’s approval, she even noted in their special about Bruce Jenner that the first thing she thought of when he told her he would be transitioning was what she would tell Kanye and what he might think.
Great question. When she was married to Kris Humphries, it was obvious that she had had work done to her face but she basically still looked like herself and was beautiful. Enter Kanye and she starts morphing into cat face.

@Renee – Reggie’s wife definitely looks like Kim, but I think everyone needs to stop trying to make it out to be as if Reggie is so hung up on Kim that he married a woman who looked just like her because he couldn’t have Kim. He was very vocal about not wanting the fame or the limelight and has always all but said that Kim’s famewhore ways ruined their relationship. As far as ending up with a woman who has similar features to Kim and happens to be Armenian, I think Reggie just has a type. Kim is no prized package and I don’t think it is a stretch to say all of her exes are happy to have not ended up with her.

Maybe being the first biracial couple on the cover of Vogue means nothing to you because you are prejudice free, but for the many of people who saw it on the stands, it acted as an advertisement for biracial love and marriage. Words are powerful but we judge people by their actions. Kim lives her life as if she believes in racial equality. She lives her life as though she believes in equal rights for gay and trans people. That doesn’t make her a hero, but it is commendable.

She says what she’s told to say and does what she’s told to do in order to garner more attention and fame for her family. Nothing is about equality for her. It’s all about her.

@FingerBinger – According to Amber Rose they did cheat with each other during her marriage to Kris Humphries and I believe her. I don’t understand why no one ever jumped all over the fact that her baby miraculously came early. They turned around and made preeclampsia (a serious but relatively common issue during pregnancy) a storyline on their show as if it was some urgent emergency that Kim had just gotten diagnosed with. This is after we watched her get sonographs and checked out by a doctor on national television. There were even moments on their show where Kim and her sisters laughed about how their finger print would leave an imprint on Kim’s feet and legs, which is a telltale sign of preeclampsia. My point is that Kim regularly saw a doctor throughout her pregnancy and then tried to play it off like she had some newfound medical emergency that caused her child to be born early. Kim started to look like she was putting on weight long before she admitted she was pregnant. All it boils down to is that as per usual, Kim lies.

The baby was not due early. They just acted like it was premature because Kim loved being compared to Princess Kate since they were both pregnant in 2013. Kim tried very hard to have her baby around the same time as Kate to share the attention. I think Kim gave birth exactly at her due date. I don’t believe she was ever due around the same time Kate was. They just lied and made that up. Also, I am calling bull on her recent claims on how she can’t get pregnant. She is a liar and if running a shame wedding isn’t beneath her, then pretending to be infertile is I guess.

I generally find that commenters are intelligent and that I agree with other people politically and ethically on most issues. For some reason, people think it’s okay to bash this woman because she’s overtly sexual. I call that slut shaming and I think that if you examine the tone and phrases of some of the comments here and on previous articles, you’ll find that the reasonable complaints about Kim Kardashian are mixed in with a lot of vitriol and, frankly, a heavier dose of misogyny than we’ve all come to expect from this community.
You can be single and married at the same time. It’s ridiculous to expect women (or men, for that matter) to put their lives on hold while waiting for the courts to go through with a divorce.
@nic/nicole: The courts were waiting on Kim to give her deposition. There was no reason to drag out the divorce like she did because there was a prenup and Kris H gave his deposition quickly. There have been other high power couples that have divorced quickly and quietly. Kim had to make hers a public spectacle. I divorced after 25 years of marriage and it only took less than a year (about 9 months). The only reason it took as long as it did is because my ex wasn’t timely in giving the court the information they wanted. My belief is that you can’t be single and married at the same time. If you want to be single then get out of the marriage quickly and you won’t have to wait.
Every relationship is different. Every divorce is different. But if you split up with your partner and inform them of that fact, it’s not cheating to get involved with someone else. You can absolutely be separated and single at the same time.
