Britney Spears is ‘devastated’ by the Daily Mail’s fat comments

Britney Spears has come a long way in the last year. And she’s clearly worked damn hard not just to get her career back, but to get her body back as well. According to reports, Brit was finally starting to feel good about herself when she started getting all sorts of mean-spirited nitpicky criticism about the way her body looks on her Circus tour. And understandably, it’s hit her hard.

Britney Spears is reportedly struggling to deal with criticism about her weight.
The singer is said to be ‘devastated’ by comments made during her ‘Circus’ world tour, dubbing her “Bulky Spears” and “jelly belly”, according to Heat.

“Britney has been upset by some of the negative feedback she’s been getting,” a source said. “She’s worked so hard on her figure and her fitness.

“She thought she was an unstoppable force, but now it’s dawning on her that she’s not as revered as she once was, which is causing her upset.

“She feels she’s put a heck of a lot of effort into the tour. It’s devastating for her to hear the criticisms. We just hope she doesn’t take it too much to heart.”

The star has allegedly started drinking specially-sourced shakes which include the African tree bark hoodia, thought to help with weight loss.

The Daily Mail is the tabloid that gleefully dubbed Britney “Bulky Spears!” noting, “She went from cheeky police officer to ringmaster, cabaret queen to showgirl. Perhaps Britney Spears was exploring different sides of her personality at her comeback show. Then again, she may have just been trying to find the right costume to flatter what is a rather fuller figure these days.” Britney’s body looks amazing. It doesn’t look the way it did when she was 17. No one’s does. It still is top-notch. It’s almost unfortunate she ever looked as good as she did, because people are always going to be comparing her to her former self. I guess we all do that to ourselves as we age – but we do it privately.

The Daily Mail also clearly cherry picked some of the least attractive pictures they could find. We use the same photo agency, and there are much better shots available. Anyone can look like crap in the wrong light. I seriously hope Britney realizes what assholes they are, and chooses to be proud of what she’s accomplished.

Here’s Britney performing at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island on Monday night. Images thanks to WENN .

she doesn’t look 17 cause she’s not 17 anymore. she looks great especially after all she’s been through.

  2. Anna says:

Though I’m not a fan of Britney or her music, I have to say: lay off her. This is definitely not fat (seriously!) and it’s true, she’s not a teenager with slender limbs, a tighter-than-tight belly and dewy skin anymore. And that’s fine, the woman’s had two children for crying out loud! No offense meant to women who have had children and still have all this, I’m just saying it’s not a mystery that she doesn’t look juvenily perky anymore. She looks as good as she can at the moment and it’s not too bad. Given that it’s Britney.

  3. pumak says:

    ditto

  4. Sauronsarmy says:

Oh Lord, if anybody has read even a sentence from the Daily Fail they would know that this “magazine” is crap. I hate Britney but I NEVER thought she was fat.

  5. geronimo says:

If the Daily Mail don’t like you, you’re doing something right.

  6. Anna says:

    @Geronimo: Best. Comment. Ever. LOLZ

  7. Because I Say So says:

You’re either too fat or too thin these days, no matter what.

    @Geronimo: ditto what Anna said!

  8. Trillion says:

Madonna looked her best when she wasn’t all ripped to shreds with veins popping out everywhere. A few extra pounds is not so bad unless you’re a model, IMO. Body stuff aside, Brit’s costumes could not be tackier. So awful.

  9. lola says:

Some snarky fat assed british woman with no discernable chin wrote that in her basement flat while chewing a stale parliament between tea stained teeth.

    What teeth remain, that is.

  10. MARKY MARK says:

I don’t think she’s all that bad looking, but the laughable part about this is that she was one of the many “lollipop” heads that set the impossible standard so let her deal with it

  11. becca says:

    ^^^^ THIS.

Seriously Brit, boo hoo. Welcome to the real world.

  12. california angel says:

    Lol Trillion, the tassels.

Seriously though, she looks good and still sells out so she has to be doing something right.

  13. OXA says:

I saw the original photos in the Daily Mail and they are right, she does not look like she did at 17. I felt sorry that no one told her NO on the bikini outfit that showed rolls of fat.

  14. Sakota says:

Her music is a lot better and furthermore I think after her breakdown Britney might be more sensitive.

I say Britney looks great and the press needs to stop picking at her.

When she was in great ATHLETIC shape they blamed her for anorexia and bulimia and now they’re as usual ripping her apart.

    No wonder she flaked out.

  15. Rosanna says:

They didn’t call her fat. They called her fuller which is absolutely accurate.

  16. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

Yeah, I don’t like Spears either, but this is total BS.

  17. Aleksa says:

I´m not a fan, but I think she looks alright, and if she were super-thin, there would be comments about her having an eating disorder…darned if you do, darned if you don´t. They should leave the poor girl alone…she might go all anorexic over this.

  18. David says:

Well fat is fat. Look at her, if you don’t see it, its just you don’t want to believe’ what your seeing. Her fab days are over, its her flab days now. Wear bigger high neck blouses, black loose pants. Her chick days are gone. The less she wears the more sad she looks.

  19. Elle says:

She looks gorgeous, as usual. I love how being a “normal”, healthy size is viewed as overweight.

  20. Norman Parker says:

    Yep. Fat.

  21. Kylie says:

I bet the person who wrote the article is a but fatty themself.
She looks great. She is a woman and we are supposed to be curvy. There is nothing attractive about bones sticking out!

  22. JaundiceMachine says:

I’m in the middle on this one.

On the one hand, she looks like an average, healthy 26-year old. On the other hand . . . sometimes you reap what you sew. I mean, she’s built her empire based on writhing around in short-shorts and cat suit, for Christmas sake. When you’re selling yourself based on a certain image, you’ve got to be dead-on, or else find a new schtick.

Still mean to call her fat, though.

  23. gossip_ho says:

daily mail is a fucktard….i’m not a britney fan…and i have to say that britney is definitely NOT fat

  24. Cinderella says:

I think she looks pretty damn good. Maybe not bare-bellied, but when she covers it with flesh colored fabric, fishnet or sparklies, no problem.

Just push those boobs up and stick out that ass, because those are still working for her.

  25. aleach says:

oh wow, she looks healthy & not like a twig…WHAT A FAT FAT FATTY!
    yikes.
the standards that are set for what women “should” look like are insane. shes looks great. give it up.
im disgusted by these kinds of posts.

  26. tasteT says:

People would rather see her breaking down and crazy…its sad.

    leave the girl alone!!

kick a horse while its down, horrible..

I feel sorry for her, she is trying..I am sure its her father-that likes the old costumes..poor girl! she can’t win for losing.

  27. perpetua says:

The show belongs in Vegas…She really missed her calling Burlesque seems to be a huge fad now.

  28. dali says:

Her costumes are fugly beyond belief. She brings this on herself by going on tour dressed as a busted up Vegas ho. She may have squeaked by with that crap when she was a young trailer trash bimbo, but now its embarrassing.

She has lost it. Why is she in the music industry anyway? Because she loves it or to pay her million-dollar bills? I personally prefer passionate musicians. Get off the stage and save it for someone who cares!

  29. Zoe (The Other One) says:

    What Jaundice said – exactly!

  30. Charley Kane says:

Im no big fan of Ms Spears, but she is an adult woman and nature did not mean them to be skinny- nor fat for that matter- but she aint fat, she has basically normal bodyfat for a woman in her mid twenties and her detractors are apparently blithering jackasses with only ten iq points between them. Her lyrics on the other hand, now they deserve criticism..

  31. Ophelia says:

@David and Norman- Really? And here after a while I thought men became less shallow. Oh well, you’re both jerks, if you’re more than one person.
I think she looks fine. Like in no way fat. It’s true that you can’t look 17 again. That hit me recently, lol. She looks completely healthy to me, very fit. Even if she were fat, she still deserves kudos for getting her shit together and pulling all this off.
And Geronimo, when are you gonna start writing articles? I love your comments! You’d be great at this!!

  32. paranel says:

She looks beautiful in a healthy balanced way. Everybody has a good or bad angle when taking picture. Plus, her two latest albums are her best work so far. Morphing into a bubble head is nor hard in Hollywood . Just stop eating and work out 5 hours a day. But why ? Why idolizing that look? Does anyone really think Madonna look good? With bulging muscles and veins and depleted skin. Come on. Give Britney a break. She looks great.

  33. s says:

It’s too bad she’s paying attention to that sh*t. She obviously looks great.

  34. Aspen says:

I think it’s kinda revolting that so many adults want someone to look adolescent in order to find them sexual.

I’m really not down with the drooling over teenagers thing.

And she did NOT have fat rolls in that outfit. It was loose skin that she can do NOTHING about. Skin loses elasticity as we age…and it loses a LOT after being stretched to hell in a pregnancy. God, I’ll never be able to lean to the side without a skin roll again after birth an 8-pounder, and “fat” has nothing to do with it.

    She looks great.

  35. jm says:

I think criticism of her figure is valid, and here’s why:
Britney certainly didn’t get to where she was by her singing ability. It was shaking her T&A and wearing as little clothes as possible.
Now, she seems to insist on wearing the same size as when she was 17. How many of us fit our clothes from that age? I sure don’t. If she’d wear things that actually cover her body, and are her real size, she’d look fine. Meanwhile, if you’re up on stage nearly naked, expect people to comment on your body.

  36. hmm says:

It’s a bit ironic that she is a woman who reached fame not for any discernible talent but for her ability to be as slutty as possible while professing her virginity and being as scantily clad as possible. It’s fine that her body has changed after two children but it is also true that she could choose slightly less revealing clothing that shows off her body in a good way. She is almost thirty years old and seems that some of her fans defend her like she’s still 17.

  37. mel says:

If it’s not Jessica, it’s Britney. She’s had 2 kids for god’s sake. That would alter any woman’s body. She looks great! Leave her alone!

  38. sauvage says:

Britney is NOT almost 30. I am not almost thirty and she is younger than I am.

  39. rhoniluv says:

    TEAM BRITNEY!

f@#k the critics, homeslice, you rock!

brit did an amazing physical transformation from that mtv debacle and deserves some credit, dagnammit.

i’m sure the person writing that article ain’t no lance armstrong, so he/she can eat it!

p.s.- brit…sweetie, just say no to papa spears ‘velveeta chesse grits & you’ll be fine, k. 🙂

  40. Granger says:

I think she needs to grow up and get a backbone. The sad issue here isn’t that they called her “fuller figured” — it’s the fact that too many female celebs like Britney are so utterly obsessed with their physical selves that they melt down when someone says they’re less than perfect. Why else do you have 40-something women who are supposedly confident and self-possessed “role models” posing naked in magazines? Why else do women who’ve had children work out two hours a day and follow a ridiculous 800-calorie diet to get their figures “back”? Because they base so much of their self-worth on their bodies that they need constant affirmation that they still look as good as they did in their 20s.

THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN LOOKING GOOD! But the only way any of the women in the entertainment industry could ever figure that out is by getting out of the entertainment industry and finding something else to make them feel fulfilled.

  41. yea says:

her face is gorgeous, and her body is fit, not like fatass jessica simpson that bitch has no kids and is a lard ass

  42. Candy says:

Brit looks gorgeous. She’s a mother of 2 and not 16 anymore.
    Rock on Brit!

  43. JaundiceMachine says:

Granger – I love where you’re coming from. Her handlers could have embraced a “healthier” tour – one that celebrates Brit’s transition into wellness and showcases her as a strong woman.

Instead they opted to trot Brit out in the ol’ dog and pony show – hoping to further exploit her image to turn a quick buck. Predictable.

Too late to backpedal now, though. Remember this fall how Brit was reportedly on a “1200 calorie diet” and exercising something like 3-6 hours a day? I’m glad for her health that they were embellishing, but they were certainly out to sell an image . . .

And isn’t this the same formula that drove Brit-Brit “crazy” in the first place? I’m not a fan, but there’s no denying the girl was in the middle of a breakdown not so very long ago. How can the people who claim to care for her allow her to embarrass herself like this?

  44. AppleGirl says:

IN our society we have two kinds of people. People who bash people for being to fat and people who bash people for being too thin.

The medium weight people think they are superior to both thin and fat people. They arent. Anybody can die of natural causes at 40 regardless of weight.

  45. boomchakaboom says:

She looks great – pretty, healthy, sexy, and athletic.

    @geronimo: Ditto!

  46. Dorian says:

Is there an example of an inteligent human being who would call that fat??? In which universe??? Who are you comparing her to,a skeleton?!

  47. VlogHog says:

In Hollywood, if you’re not a size 2, you’re fat.

To all haters, if you’re not a size 2, you’re fat.

  48. Christina X says:

    People are impossible.

    A woman’s thin, everyone bitches.

A woman isn’t even fat but has any evident ounce of fat on her thighs, arms, or stomach, and everyone bitches.

  49. Britfan says:

its normal for her at this age looks like that lo..
    who likes bones sticking out?..
    yucks!!
    i love britney….

  50. has been britney says:

she looks like a chunky stripper.
I love chunky strippers, they have low self-esteem, and they will do ‘extra’ for a few extra bucks.
