Kurt Cobain is a Doll

Kurt Cobain is an icon for generation Y, so it’s good we can now worship him in doll form. Also on lunchboxes and keychains.

Fans can now buy a likeness of the angst-ridden rocker – who committed suicide in 1994 – as well as a host of other Cobain-inspired items.

The Smell Likes Teen Spirit singer’s face also appears on a new line of lunch boxes and a key chain that doubles as a small hip flask.

The range of products are made by the National Entertainment Collectibles Association who purchased a license to use Cobain’s likeness from his widow Courtney Love.

New Zealand Herald

Courtney Love, who has control of her dead husbands estate, recently called Doc Martens use of Kurt’s image in their advertisements for shoes “outrageous” and “despicable”. So it seems she had a change of heart, to allow his face to be used on lunchboxes and keychains. I can’t blame her for endoursing an action figure though, since what man in his 20’s doesn’t want to be an action figure? It’s what Kurt would have wanted, even if this one can’t kick and punch.
