Is Taylor Swift worried about Madonna’s new Mean Girl anthem?

FFN_Swift_Gomez_MAF_061615_51774453

Taylor Swift was out and about in LA yesterday. At one point, she was riding shotgun with Calvin Karris behind the wheel, and at another point, she was wandering around Hollywood with Selena Gomez. While Tay-Tay was with Calvin, they ended up having a meal with “new couple” Gigi Hadid and Joe Jonas. Remember when Tay-Tay dated Joe and he dated he over the phone? I guess time healed that particular wound. But Taylor was still looking “glum” through much of her Tuesday outings. I wonder why?

Well, here’s the conspiracy theory: take a close look at the t-shirt Taylor is wearing in these photos. “This is My Fight Song.” Interesting, especially because the last time Taylor released a new single and music video, it was the absolutely embarrassing “Bad Blood,” which is like “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” about a woman. It was a blatant attempt by Swifty to “Mean Girl” Katy Perry, part of their long-standing feud. Only Katy Perry has friends too. Friends like… Madonna. And Rita Ora. And Beyonce. And Nicki Minaj. And Miley Cyrus too. Madonna is about to release her video for “Bitch I’m Madonna” and Madge assembled her own girl-power group to take down the Swiftlunatics and their Cat Queen. The full video allegedly comes out at some point today, but for now, you can see a short Instagram clip here.

So is Swift worried? Is Tay-Tay’s new breakup anthem going to be about Madonna?

What is that on Taylor’s shirt? It looks like a leash. I really hope this song is amazing because someone needs to push Taylor off of her pedestal. Why does she need to call the paps with everything she does? Can she not doing anything private?

    • Aussie girl says:

Yes, what is this belt thingy..?

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

      It’s a bondage harness…clearly she’s doing it all wrong.

      Vanilla to the end Swift!

    • cheryl says:

Can’t focus on story, because consumed by wtf? about the toddler harness. Hope the mystery is cleared up as I read the other comments.

    • Bread and Circuses says:

      A trendy backpack?

    • Anon says:

You honestly didn’t ask that..what celeb doesn’t call the paps it’s life in Hollywood everyone is guilty and the worst is the Ks.Taylor is no angel but neither is Katy..and then Madonna. Really really lol

  2. Loopy says:

Lol this is beyond immature at this point, a bunch of grown women. But I love the way Katy Perry is not phased, I will give her credit for that.

    • LB says:

Katy hasn’t even responded and I hope she never does. Only a person with a childish mentality gathers a bunch of d-listers to form an army to bully another.

I personally don’t think Madonna’s song or video has anything to do with Taylor. They probably and unfortunately coincide but so does Bad Blood and Britney’s Toxic. If the similarities are purposeful, Madonna clearly got a better group together.

      • Abbott says:

Agreed. Katy’s non-response to all of this just makes Taylor look immature.

I do think Madonna grabbed her friends from that sinking Tidal ship and knew people would compare to Taylor’s bag of Bad Blood bulls**t.

      • Mia V. says:

        Madonna’s song is about Madonna.

    • Alex says:

Agreed it’s better if Katy doesn’t respond. But listen there’s no way Beyoncé (who is a friend of Taylor’s) and Nicki (who actually doesn’t go after other women like that if they have no issues) will take a swipe at Taylor over beef that isn’t theirs to begin with. Not only is it not really their style but Beyoncé likes Taylor.
Not only that but let’s be real…Madonna is about Madonna. And indent ever recall her taking a swipe at a younger singer if they didn’t have issues with her. (Correct me if in wrong).
It’s best that Katy sits back and just lets it go. It would look worse for her to respond because you 1. Give credence in to the rumors 2. Look stupid because you are older than Taylor 3. And finally I doubt your song will be better (no offense but Kay perry has the same songs over and over)

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Taylor Swift, a 25 year old, sings the same songs over and over. Also, the you’re-older-than-I-am argument is specifically reserved for underage children who can rightfully claim to be at vastly different stages in their development. If a 25 year old can claim to be that far off from a 30 year old, something is wrong with the 25 year old.

      • Alex says:

I never excused Taylor either. I’m saying that at 25 myself if a younger girl took swipes at me being petty I would let it go. Why? Because I’m an adult and this isn’t a playground.
People will attack others over petty shit for your entire life. Why feed into it? I believe in being the bigger person unless those swipes are about something like my family (then the gloves are off)
And tbh Katy’s songs all sound the same. I’m not even a fan of Taylor’s and I can’t say the same for her.

      • jaye says:

But it isn’t Katy’s song, it’s Madonna’s, so it’s not like she’s actually responding to Taylor’s mean girl anthem.

      • FLORC says:

In regards to this Bad Blood and Madge upcoming video this is good marketing with the added swipe at an associates enemy. Win Win. If it is that.

  3. Damn says:

Swift is a 13 year old stuck in the body of a mid 20s woman. Madonna is the fool who is trying to reclaim relevance by competing with the said 13 year old and her methods.

    All involved are embarrassing.
Hell, that kiss with Britney and Christina a decade ago is a more mature stunt she pulled in comparsion to this.

    • Loopy says:

Lets give Madonna the benefit of the doubt, don’t these things take months to plan and put into production. I doubt she rounded up all these MEGA stars with their own schedules after seeing Taylors video a couple of weeks ago.

      • Jessica says:

But that also means they all know what the others are doing well in advance. Taylor’s video wasn’t an out of the blue surprise, everyone knew for months that Bad Blood was going to be a single and that Taylor was enlisting a lot of famous friends for the video. We didn’t know every name but people had guessed pretty much everyone but Kendrick and Cindy Crawford. I would imagine all their managers, publicists etc. all knew about it, and that news of it found it’s way to Madonna’s camp (and Perry’s, Beyonce’s etc.) before the public heard rumours of it.

      • Mia V. says:

I don’t think Madonna had Taylor’s video in mind when planning her, if you take a good look, “Bad Blood” is a bad video, there’s no dancing, story, it’s just Taylor Swift parading her friends and shoving it on Katy’s face. And if you could pick between being in a Madonna video or Taylor’s, the choice is very clear.

    • Dhavynia says:

Anyone following Madonna on IG knows that she’s been mentioning songs and the record for months so I doubt this is about Taylor Swift

  4. Bishg says:

I have to admit that this move from none other than Madonna sounds really desperate.
It might have been a good idea to remotely evoke Taylor’s video, only if she was to change all the original premises and give it a fresh vibe.
But they were so lazy they didn’t even care about changing the style of the posters.
Same structure, same concept, same background. Just a bunch of famous people scattered here and there. I am actually stunned that Bey deigned to join this (and I don’t mean in a good way).
Madonna has been trying to stay relevant by adhering to the ways of all the new popstarlets which are +30 years younger than her. If she really was “f****g Madonna”; she woulnd’t need to conform to anything, she would find her own space in today’s pop world.

    • Abbott says:

Madonna is trying to stay relevant and I’m guessing Bey is trying to save Tidal.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree. I think it looks really bad that this so resembles Taylor’s video and poster imagery.

I have no interest in wasting time watching Madonna’s video. I know it would just make me feel 2nd hand embarrassment.

  5. LadyMTL says:

I actually find this fun / funny. Two adult (supposedly?) women sniping and b*tching at one another like it’s high school and they’re both 15. T-Swift’s next song will probably be called “Requiem for an old woman” or something like that. LOL.

Random aside: is Taylor Swift carrying a purse and then a backpack too? I’m trying to figure out what that holster thing is supposed to be.

    • Renee2 says:

Lol, I would buy Requiem for an old woman. And I’m sure that Tay-Tay would consider me decrepit at the ripe old age of 40.

  6. Barrett says:

Tay needs a new look. Evolution. The same hair, bangs, short shorts or skirt. Cropped tops. Ugh. At least back in the day Madonna changed her look or though now in her old age she’s boring too. And this mean girl stuff, what awful examples in today’s bully culture!

    • Renee2 says:

I too, wish that she would get a makeover. Her style has no personality…kind of like her.

  7. getyoheadoutyoass says:

swifty wearing that harness the wrong way around lol

  8. Jem says:

LOL its all about breakups with Tay Tay isnt it? Tells u something; but youth is all about the drama right

  9. Jayna says:

Madonna is just throwing in everybody she can think of to get views and desperately trying for a hit. There were the days when her music videos were an event, were unique, out of the box. Instead now all she does is self-reference herself and talking about people wanting to be her cementing the fact that she is just a legacy act trying to be hip with the kids, not someone people of all ages, even the kids, are drawn to like when she did Ray of Light out of left field. She brought on a new generation of fans with Ray of Light and Music.

She’s lost the plot and I don’t see this mish-mash doing it. Bitch, I’m Madonna is a juvenile song. It’s not about ageism. It’s about her desperation. I’m down for Madonna writing a brilliant dance club track and thumbing her nose at the detractors who say dance tracks is a young popstar’s game, stay out.. But acting like a sixteen-year-old with her grillz in and singing juvenile lyricis is not the way you thumb your nose at the naysayers. You come out blazing and defiant with a brilliant club track, not Bitch, I’m Madonna with lyrics like “cuz I’m a bad bitch.”

Rant over. Back to Confessions on a Dance Floor and headphones, when Madonna still had it in an amazing way.

    • Keriann says:

@Jayna Well said. I find it embarrassing to even watch Madonna at this point. Most of us who experienced her during her heyday cannot stomach her antics now. Our young adult and teen children ask “who is THAT??” and after they get their answer, “ewww” is how they respond. I agree.

    • Tiffany :) says:

“cementing the fact that she is just a legacy act trying to be hip with the kids,”

      Perfectly written.

  10. NewWester says:

Why is Madonna getting involved in this ? Did Calvin diss her in some way( ie: Drake)? Plus having Rita Ora on this song puts it on a more personal level aimed at Taylor and Calvin. Reading these stories makes me think of my high school years.

    • Tifygodess says:

I’m pretty sure Madonna isn’t getting involved in this “cat fight” -Hell Katy has barely gotten involved and she’s in it. If Katy wasn’t In this video no one would even make the assumption that it’s aimed at Taylor. This is all media driven. Madonna is trying to make this a hit so she added star power. Sure it might be similar to Taylor but Taylors video was also very Britney of 2003.

  11. OSTONE says:

For some reason, I don’t believe Madonna. I don’t believe Beyoncé would appear on Madonna’s video. Also, say whatever you want, but Madonna straight up copied Taylor. For someone who gave Lady Gaga so much sh*t for being a copy-cat, pot.. meet kettle.

  12. Cran says:

Four of these women are involved with Tidal so that may have something to with it.

  13. Dawn says:

Oh I just continue to lose respect for Madonna. And the shame is she worked incredibly hard to earn respect and now in her mid-fifties she is throwing it all away to try and stay young. It is time for Madonna to age gracefully as others have.

  14. Lennox says:

This is just embarrassing. What was the original ‘feud’ even about, anyway? Either way, I suppose they all get publicity and money.

  15. shinymarbles says:

Goats said it downstream before my comment could be approved. I second Goats!

  16. Lucy2 says:

Taylor is too old for this junior high nonsense- which says even more about Madonna.

  17. Goats on the Roof says:

“Fight Song” is pretty damn popular right now, and Taylor just sang it with Rachel Platten on tour two or three days ago. Taylor can be petty, I’m sure, but I think you’re reaching here.

    • Ellie says:

Taylor and Madonna also just performed together back in March at the iHeartRadio awards: http://www.justjared.com/2015/03/29/madonna-taylor-swifts-iheartradio-performance-video/

      Also, I love your name!

    • Nikki says:

Goats on the Roof nails it.

    • Crumpet says:

      This.

      • Lisa says:

Agreed. People are reaching here…doubt Madonna’s song is aimed at Taylor. Also, sorry but I don’t think there is anything wrong with Taylor writing a song about her experience with Katy or whoever the song is about. I don’t think she is mean at all , she felt like someone she trusted or thought was a friend back stabbed her and frankly I would probably react the same, obviously not write a song about it as I am not a song writer but you betcha I would be pretty pissed and bitter towards that person. Guess I am not the forgiving sort either being a Scorpiio and all.d

    • someone says:

Exactly!!! As soon as I saw Taylor’s tshirt I knew it was for Rachel Platten’s song. Do people not listen to the radio these days? It’s an excellent song and hats off to Taylor for bringing it publicity.

  18. Jessica says:

I feel like Rihanna is just standing on the sidelines while all this 5th grade nonsense unfolds, rolling her eyes with disdain on the rare occasion she deigns to pay it the slightest bit of attention. I kind of wish she’d jump in, I’m getting real sick of them all playing these games while they act like they’re not doing anything of the sort. I’d find it all much less childish if they’d just take some proper swipes at each other and be done with it.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

…yeah I don’t think Rihanna is ever the mature one on the sidelines. Ever. The truth is this isn’t her beef and she doesn’t give a damn.

    • Viola says:

I feel like Rihanna is feeling left out. I wonder which video she’d rather be in?

    • Nicole says:

Lol Rih just doesn’t care and I’m pretty sure Katy killed her friendship with her over the John Meyer crap. She doesn’t have a dog in this fight.
Anyways this story is reaching. Madonna gives zero Fs about this feud

  19. Bam32 says:

I don’t understand the media’s need to pin these two women against eachother in this instance. If Katy was the lead vocalist and rounded up some mega star singers I might (BiG MIGHT) believe there was a connection.
I have no sympathy for either women because Katy had her ‘bf’ at the time say stuff about t-swift and t-swift said/sang about her dislike of Katy. Both Are very immature it reminds me of high school.

Otherwise what I think happened is Madonna wants to be relevant and got as many relevant and ‘hip’ singers to make that happen.

    • FLORC says:

Both ladies have made it no secret they dislike eachother. It’s extremely apparent between glares, lengths to avoid, and lyrics supported by comments made outside of those. The media might be benefting here, but they did not create this feud.

  20. Samtha says:

It’s Britney, Bitch! Oh, oops. Wrong song.

  21. aligoat says:

What is the point of wearing a harness?

    • Ellie says:

      It looks so ridiculous.

    • Elias says:

The point is to get people talking about it… About her … See, that’s how PR works….. And yes, it looks ridiculous… On a side note, she looks kind of rough, doesn’t she? Must have had a hard nite with her bear… uh, I mean boyfriend……

      • Rafa says:

Ha, thank you! There is zero mystery or authenticity in anything Taylor does publicly. I wonder how long her contract with Calvin Harris is? Usually about a dozen photo ops & she’s done.

  22. Loopy says:

Rihanna should have been where Rita Ora is, she is not in the same league as the others.

  23. Mila says:

Taylor should be thankful that Madonna is even more embarassing than she is.

  24. caitlin_g says:

She is touring with Rachel Platten whose song Fight Song contains the lyric “this is my fight song” … think she may just be supporting her opening act

  25. Cricket says:

This is why the music business isn’t selling albums! It’s just like 24 hrs news and movies to an extent. It’s about grabbing a headline and cashing in, quality not so much.

    • Tiffany :) says:

The music business isn’t selling albums because majority of people under 25 years old don’t believe in buying music. Why pay when you can get it for free or stream it?

  26. Zombie Shortcake says:

That instagram clip didn’t look like much. Just a bunch of illuminati higher ups thrashing around on the floor-Unless that is how they summon demons, in which case, yes, Swift should be worried.

  27. Jayna says:

Madonna is seen twerking in the video. As usual, Madonna brings in something from the underground club scenes mainstream music fans aren’t that privvy to and sets trends. She’s amazing. LOL J/k.

She’s so far behind the times that it’s laughable, chasing trends for music videos, popstars twerking, that have been done to death and are on the way out. And how many times is Madonna going to gyrate against walls in the corner. She has done that to death this past decade in music videos.

  28. Veronica says:

Considering 1989 has sold nearly 9 million copies while Rebel Heart hasn’t even broken a million, I doubt she’s worried. When Madonna stops being the trendsetter and starts copying the new ones, it may be time to rethink the career trajectory.

  29. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I doubt Madonna cares about Taylor Swift, if Tay Tay can latch onto Ellen Pompe and Mariska Hargitay then odds are she’d jump for joy to be part of ‘THE’ Madonna’s clique/video.

This video has nothing to do with Taylor, it’s a video where Madonna will talk about how great Madonna is with a few ladies that fit into the grown and sexy category, not the perpetually awkward and sexless category.

I just think they saw that a large group of other women would be included and the media jumped on it. Come on…does anyone even know how many of these ladies have worked with someone some other lady in the video hated? At this point it’s about money, not braiding hair at sleepovers.

  30. Priya says:

I doubt many think Bad Blood is embarrassing. It’s received a ton of praise by the non-disaffected, non-holier-than-thou crowd.

Of course Katy hasn’t said anything; nothing that comes out of her mouth is articulate. Taylor doesn’t have to worry about her. Between Perry’s insane Christian evangelical upbringing by toxic parents and her dropping out of school, Katy is as dumb as a pile of rocks. She’s not a threat to anybody.

Madonna needs to give up. She’s being ridiculous.

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

“I doubt many think Bad Blood is embarrassing. It’s received a ton of praise by the non-disaffected, non-holier-than-thou crowd.”

Mmmkay so in other words, twelve year olds.
And speaking of questionable parenting skills, how do a C-level executive and a broker wind up with such a stupid, vapid, brain-dead tweenager for a daughter? You would’ve thought that two educated people who apparently gave their daughter a gender neutral name because they wanted her to be successful in business would have demanded a little more out of her than her bratty, spoiled nonsense. I don’t think Katy’s quite as stupid as you think, and she actually had to suffer and sacrifice to get where she is today.

      • Priya says:

Wow, guess this has gotten way too personal for you. Good luck with getting help for that 12 year old mean girl inside of you!

Btw, there’s no poor side of Santa Barbara. Just saying.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

LMAO, if you have to go all the way back to insulting her parents and her high school career to prove her ignorance then you’re reaching.

It’s kinda fun to see the stans come out.

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Did you miss the part where the OP insulted Katy’s upbringing and stated that she was a moron due to her parenting? Pot, meet kettle. Read.

  31. Adrien says:

Looks like a promo for Tidal. Madge couldn’t get Riri so she hired the body double instead.

    • Leila says:

Why would she want Riri? She’s nothing special. I think she should have added Lady Gaga to this. Rita Ora is ok.

  32. als says:

I fear Madge will get seriously injured from this showdown.
And the teaser that she posted – with all the butt and the twerking. Basically, knowing her history, she’s dropping another cheesy porn video on us.

  33. tacos and tv says:

I can’t stand it anymore!!!? I’ve had enough of her. She needs to just go to a deep cave with Chris Pratt and sit in it for a mont . And take Calvin “the opportunist” Harris, with her. But… I will say, her clothes, whether my taste or not, always look great on her body!!!! I’m going yo the gym right after I finish this doughnut!!!

  34. Frosty says:

I will never unsee that clip. A young senior dressed as a girl in a mastabatory fit of self-regard – good god. STAWP.

  35. FingerBinger says:

This is stupid. Taylor’s Louis Vuitton bag is ugly.

  36. kimbers says:

Totally forgot about bad blood and taylor swift.

  37. Leah says:

They are so silly, permanently stuck in high school. But it has to be said Madonna has assembled by far the better girl gang.

  38. CasualBtchr says:

I don’t like Taylor Swift. I really don’t. I’d choose Kanye over her ANY DAY.

  39. Sos101 says:

But where is Karlie Koss in all this?

  40. serena says:

Even Madonna now? At least if the songs were good.. they’re just embarrassing, middle schoolers fighting each other and showing who’s more ‘powerful’ or what. GTFO please.

  41. EricaV says:

She has another clip on her IG of a trashed party house. So this video is half “Bad Blood” and half “We Can’t Stop”?

I don’t think these “exclusive” videos on Tidal are good for the artists at all. You’re never going to break a VEVO record that way. I’m surprised Nikki is allowed by Cash Money to promote her music like this (Feelin’ Myself was a Tidal exclusive too.)

I know that Taylor’s video is a rip off of the Frank Miller/”Sin City” style (all black & white with hints of saturated color) but it still feels like Madonna has surrounded herself with so many YES people that no one said “ummmmmm maybe we should re-think this concept….”

The shirt though I think really is in support of her tour mate who sings that song. I don’t think it has anything to do with Madonna or Katy or Bad Blood. But that HARNESS omg girl wtf? That’s way too try hard. Just looks hot and uncomfortable vs Selena who looks the most relaxed and natural as I’ve seen her in a minute.

  42. FLORC says:

Didn’t Jay-Z do Bad Blood with Swifty? And Bey is in Madges video?

  43. Sarah says:

The shirt is in reference to Rachel Platten’s song “This is my Fight Song.” She brought her on stage and sang that song with her at a recent concert, it’s likely from her merch.

  44. Jayna says:

Here’s the HD music video in full. Many of the famous names are just shoehorned in for a brief second, like they skyped their two second performance in, like Miley, Katy, Beyonce and add nothing to the video.

Nicki isn’t there either, but like on a TV while they are dancing. But I always love me some Nicki Minaj and she’s good on this song. The video is based off of her Jimmy Fallon performance with more flourishes added and set design. Her son David dances. Chris Rock and Rita Ora are there on set for a brief appearance.

    http://rutube.ru/video/4df6fb6d718e99f3ee05ae78817786e1/

    • Jayna says:

I forgot. It also looks like Adam Levine was there.

If all the big stars you namechecked for promo aren’t even actually there in the video, it kind of negates what she’s singing, she’s Madonna, but none of these people cared enough to come to the studio to shoot their little part for the pop icon. At least, Nicki should have been there because she was needed.

    • Elias says:

Well THAT was interesting, wasn’t it?

  45. MAC says:

I do not listen to Swift or Perry’s music but I think from what I read Swift state in Rolling Stone article she is immature and not as business savvy as I thought. Or maybe she is savvy and this is a way to get all the younger ladies involved in drama.

Even if what she said is true and it was Perry. Is she so special that in the entire music industry this has not happened before? Why make it public in Rolling Stone unless she wanted to start a bunch of drama-get people to pick sides.

I am not interested in her privileged whining. If you want to make it public call the person out, settle a score in public than use the persons name. I see her now and think immature and manipulative. Everyone gets betrayed by a friend, business associate, etc. It is called living life.

  46. MAC says:

I watched Madonna’s video and thought it was funny and cute. I loved her son dancing in it. It has nothing to do with Swifts video that I also just watched. (first swift song for me).

No need to pitch women against each other. Plenty of room and $$$$ at the top. Madonna was here before Swift and was and will always be first -meaning by date.

  47. LA Juice says:

If she’s worried, she needn’t be. Nothing sadder than a living legend defiling her own legacy like a monkey throwing feces at a mirror, by involving her haggard, sad, embarrassing, tired OLD self into a teen aged melodrama. Holy Hell, Even britany and Xtina have more self respect than Madonna these days.

and if Katy Perry somehow has the clout to enjoin Madonna, QUEEN BEY and Minaj in a shade response against Taylor’s bad blood video, well holy fucking shit, we all better run and take cover because we gonna find Tay-tay’s lifeless form in the back seat of Ali G’s limo… with left shark and Blue Ivy driving.
