man she looks just….GROSS. 19″ waist my ass. Dita Von Teese has a 21″ waste which is from years of corsetry and she is TEENY TINY compared to bucket full of extra crispy here. I say she has a 27 - 29 inch waste easy.

AWFUL dress on Beyonce(and the other woman who was wearing it-aaand ANYONE else who wears it). I don’t really care if that’s how it’s SUPPOSED to look, it’s ugly. If the dress is meant to look that way, that makes it even worse, in my opinion.

I saw the trailer for that Woodstock movie and actually started laughing out loud. But then I always think Liev Schreiber in drag is just hilarious.
My dad was actually there at Woodstock and the movie looks just like how he described it.

Oh boy, I don’t feel the need to defend B as I don’t really care for her. But Thierry has no need to lie really about the alteration. If you look at Jerry Hall’s version, it’s significantly longer. I suppose if you’re much shorter, a 19″ waist could be proportionate or achievable. And don’t forget, it’s the waist, not the hips - the more common measurement. I’m 5′8″ with a 25″ waist, but my income doesn’t depend on my appearance/physique (*thanks the universe*)!
However, it’s clearly fit too tightly & I do agree with the barbie doll (”not in a good way”) comment by Miss Ash!

Sadly, she tried to squeeze into the wrong sized dress. While she will always have serious curves (which are gorgeous) she needs to remember not to try on those dresses meant for no-hip, skinny boned models. It just doesn’t work.

Maybe it’s 19″ after having several strong men cinch her into a corset. That I’d possibly believe. But I’ve seen her in real life and there’s no way in hell she’s got a 19″ waist without some serious corset tightening.

“The exaggerated hips are a design element of a truly couture dress.” Yep, and her publicist/designer should have left it at that. I think most people ‘get’ that the dress is dramatic and costume-y. Similar to Madonna’s pointy bras…she doesn’t really have pointy boobs under there! (Hmm, or does she?!)
For a publicist to comment on this at all is ridiculous. If celebrities start releasing statements every time someone doesn’t like their outfit, it could become an issue. What bothers me more, though, is that the publicist addresses Beyonce’s weight even before commenting on the dress. It implies that weight gain is some awful charge worth addressing and denying publicly. Throwing that 19″ waist claim in there is the cherry on top. This comment leads me to suspect that Beyonce (who I’ve always loved) is a hyper-defensive, unsophisticated egomaniac with weight issues. I have never thought of her that way before, and I hope it’s inaccurate.
This is a classic example of the cover-up being worse than the crime.

Beyonce is not obese. However, this comment falls on deaf ears (or blind eyes) when she has her designer allege that her waist is 19 inches because no one believes it. Dita Von Teese is a great example of why we don’t, as someone mentioned above.
The dress wasn’t even that great on Jerry Hall, but it was a lot better proportioned. If Beyonce picked out that dress for herself, she needs to find a manager who will set her straight. I thought she looked a bit chunky performing recently (at the Oscars?) but I think it was primarily those short shorts. She needs to dress for who she is and then she would be more accepted.

I could care less about the size of Beyonces waist whether it is a 19 or not it won’t do me any good either way so I don’t care and everyone is entitled to their own opinion and to me the dress is very unflattering and quite frankly utterly disgusting really what was the point? Big mistake!

This dress creeps me out beyond words. It looks like the dress is over a barbie doll, and NOT in a good way. The kind of contours that look like plastic connecting barbie legs. *shudders*. Very unflattering.
