I covered Tom Hiddleston’s appearance at Comic-Con on Sunday. Sorry it took me two days to get through some of his new interviews, but in my defense, a lot of stuff happened this weekend! Anyway, Tom looked lovely at Comic-Con and he was very giving and eloquent in interview after interview. He was there solely to promote Crimson Peak, and he was very prepared to answer all kinds of questions about gothic-horror-romance. Gothic Romance is the new Shakespeare, basically. First up, Hiddles chatted with his dear friend Josh Horowitz at MTV. If we’re being fair, Josh has a massive bro-crush on Lord Dragonfly and it’s so obvious that even Jessica Chastain was making fun of Josh. Here’s the video:
Josh asks Tommy about the “freaky” sex scenes between his character and Mia’s character. Hiddleston says: “It is a little freaky, but it is…it comes from the tradition of storytelling where the supernatural is explained through emotional trauma. So there is inherent freakiness involved . Actually, gothic romance is about sexuality, there’s a lot of that literature around and as we know, the Victorians didn’t talk about sex at all so in a way, through ghosts, you could express sort of taboo sexuality…” Since I’ve missed Tommy so much in the past year, I have to say… I enjoy this. I enjoy that he treats his press duties like an opportunity to give intellectual breakdowns and analysis of the subject matter. And it just goes to show you – I wasn’t far off when I said Tommy would probably have a sex scene with a Victorian ghost.
Next up: Tommy spoke to GamesRadar on the red carpet about gothic sex as well. It really seems like all of the nerds are very pleased that Tommy has a proper sex scene at long last. Anyway, he told this outlet: “There’s something about these opposite forces of sex and death in all of our lives. They are inevitable and they are everywhere, and they war. They come to battle each other in gothic romance.” He also talks about the archetype of the tall, dark stranger full of secrets and mysteries. Oh TommyAnna, your enthusiasm for your work (whether genuine or feigned) is such a delight in this era of “too cool for school”, ultra-chill nonsense. It also helps that you’re pretty.

I’d say for the most part his enthusiasm is genuine – although maybe amped up a little depending on the circumstances. I think Tom has been fortunate in his career thus far, all of the projects he’s been called upon to promote are things any actor would be truly excited about so it’s been an easy sell. When he eventually has a stinker of a project on his resume (it happens to all actors eventually), it will be interesting to see if there is a difference in attitude or presentation.

Loved the teasing. Interesting to watch Tom in repose, when del Toro was speaking — I’m not sure he can sit still. It’s a whole different thing to watch him teased (and ganged up on) and responding to that, in contrast to when he’s being interviewed and the intellectual soliloquies.
I love it too Lucretia. The only time his loquaciousness is cured is when he’s being teased about his nudity, his “pogo stick” or his adoring fans.

It is driving me crazy that they haven’t released that podcast yet. Just seeing that excerpt over and over everywhere is driving me nuts because it is only a small portion of the podcast and I want to hear/see the rest. Somebody posted a link to a poor quality video of it, which had decent sound, that contained much more of the podcast but even that cut off before the end, with Tom in mid-sentence about I Saw the Light.
Ladies, please let us know here when the podcast is up. I want to hear the whole damn thing. Especially if he’s talking about SEX or ISTL.

The second video-!! I think the interviewer’s arm was cramping up-LOL! Tom was going on and on while the guy holding the mike is looking like “when does he stopppp???”. I really enjoy his enthusiasm and eloquence-nice for a change.
The interview made a beginner’s mistake with Tom, and should have followed the lead of previous interviewers and asked him something funny and imaginative, like “what would loki do in a haunted house? he loved that question and thanked the interviewer.

I love me some Tommy but damn, can’t take me eyes off of Jessica Chastain- she’s stunning! And i love that Mia is sitting there in between those two being all her lovely chill self.
She does have the old Hollywood glamour. I think she’s gorgeous and her and Tom look striking together.
I like their playfulness with each other too.
Not only that, she has charisma! Never saw an interview with Chastain before. Maybe because she’s always in serious movies and kinda low key, I always imagined her being one of those “serious” actors that only talk about “the process”. But, goodness, she is appealing. I would devour a romantic comedy with Tom and Jessica. Much ado about nothing?

Yes, Jessica does seem to have a naughty sense of humor, as does “Push-harder!-That’s-what-they-all-say” Tom. I bet the two of them were enjoying all sorts of dirty jokes on set.
I do wish he would loosen up and let that side of himself come out while promoting this film. It doesn’t seem to be a part of the persona he wants to project. But it’s a really fun side of him… makes him more interesting.
Jessica is gorgeous – and I never realized how fun she is, I think I’ve only ever read print interviews and haven’t seen her on junkets. I was also surprised at how tiny/short she is. Even in heels she’s inches shorter than Mia. Has anyone else seen her photo with Gwen Christie? Next to Gwen the Magnificent Jessica looks like a child.
I have a soft spot for Mia as well. You could tell she wasn’t in her comfort zone at SCDD but she’s lovely and sweet and anyone that can hold their own onscreen with Tilda and Tom has my blessing. She still drank Ian though, and I can’t quite forgive her for that.

They were partying on a boat near the end of the shoot and the picture seems to have been taken at some point during or after. One of the woman seems to be wearing a cover-up over a bathing suit. Probably multiple random changes in/out of wet bathing suits/random cover-ups for sun protection were in process

The Save the Arctic campaign has been released this week, with an Andy Gotts exhibition in London during July. Tom’s pic is included, of course. I can’t believe it was a year ago, during the filming of High Rise, that those photos were taken and now they are on public release.
Gotts got most of the High Rise cast to pose: Tom, Luke Evans, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, Elizabeth Moss. Now, if we could only get some news about the film other than Sienna Guillory’s tweets about how excited she is. I’m beginning to view Lego Loki’s production as the definitive version.

I would be lying if I didn’t wish the sex scenes were between Hiddles and Charlie….sigh.

There is a short article about charlie hunnam in the daily mail. It’s about him meeting his fiends. I think the friend he was meeting was tom. And the blond girl is jane arthy.
I saw the article, but i don´t think the guy in that table is Tom.
Right now, Tom´s hair is blond and the person in that pic has dark hair. And the shap of the body is also diferent.

That pic with charlie hunnam was taken on Wednesday night and Tom arrived in London yesterday.
And in the brief period of time between SDCC and that picture, he gained 30 pounds and put all that gray in his beard as a disguise, right? But the back of her head clearly gives them both away because nobody else looks like her from that angle.
