Angelina Jolie took Knox & Vivienne on a birthday book-buying excursion: cute?

FFN_Jolie_Kids_FF7_FF9_071915_51803463

The paparazzi literally took a million photos of Angelina Jolie and her two youngest children yesterday. Jolie took twins Knox and Vivienne to BookStar in Studio City yesterday. This book-buying excursion was possibly part of Viv and Knox’s birthday celebrations – the twins turned 7 YEARS OLD (!!!) on July 12. It seems like only yesterday that Angelina posed with the twins on the cover of People Magazine.

Anyway, because there were so many photographers and fans waiting outside, we basically have every angle of Jolie and the kids leaving the bookstore. It seems like both kids got to pick out a lot of stuff and both are carrying big, heavy-looking bags. I wonder if BookStar is the kind of kid-friendly bookstore that not only sells kids’ books, but educational toys and stuffed animals and stuff?

What else? Knox has gotten a haircut since I last saw him, although he seems to prefer to keep his hair kind of surfer-shaggy. Viv still strikes me as a mama’s girl – she always seems to want to stick close to her mom no matter what. Knox, to me, looks just like a mini-Brad, but Vivienne is an interesting mix of both parents. Both kids are going to be ridiculously good-looking when they grow up.

I still loathe Angelina’s nude flats. I hope she discussed ugly shoewear when she met Duchess Kate, because they both have an affinity for really ugly nude shoes.

I have a feeling little Viv is going to be drop dead gorgeous when she grows up.

    • JudyK says:

Was just thinking the same thing.

    • Alice says:

I think all six kids will be gorgeous. And, yay for buying books!

      • AtlLady says:

There is a part of me that can’t wait until Miss Z (Zahara) is about 20 and working the red carpets like Lupita Nyoung’o does now. I really like her spunky style. Mad is turning into a very nice looking young man and shy Pax is adorable, too. Shiloh, Knox, and Viv will be stunning. I wonder if Bad and Angie read aloud to the kids on private plane trips? My Dad spent the summer I turned 7 reading “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” aloud to me while we sat in the backyard after supper.

      • laura in LA says:

        +6
(That’s my vote for all the JP kids).

      • jc126 says:

Yes, all the kids are stunning.
I don’t see pics of them much, but Jennifer Connelly’s kids are all really cute, too (haven’t seen a pic of her daughter, but her sons).

    • Zigggy says:

      Yep, she’s stunning.

    • hmph says:

It’s sad that we’re still so superficial and looks obsessed that not even children are spared.
Who cares if she grows up “stunning” or not? Why even think about that? What happens if she doesn’t grow up “stunning” and instead becomes average, like ya know, most people?
Sorry for the rant but it’s something that I’ve noticed recently and I’m not sure it always was like this, even when it comes to celebs. Society *sigh*

  2. vauvert says:

Gorgeous kids. Gorgeous mom. I know a lot of commenters hate her casual style but I think it’s great – as a mom, it is exactly the kind of stuff I wear running errands and taking my son to buy books, and yes, we leave with similar loaded bags. Glad to see she is raising readers but that does not surprise me a bit. I have a feeling all her children will grow up to be decent, well educated and good people.

    • American In Oz says:

I completely agree with you. I think she looks great and this outfit is something I’d wear too. I’m flying with my little one to Ireland tomorrow and I’m wearing nearly the exact same outfit, except for black flats. Mine is only 3 months, black hides poo so much better than other colours.

    • LadyMTL says:

Yeah, I never understood the hate that some people have for her casual looks. Okay, the nude flats aren’t anything to faint over, but they’re not horrible either. I mean, if she’s going to a bookstore with 2 kids, is she supposed to wear 4 inch stilettos? 😛

I also can’t believe the twins are already seven, now I feel ooooooold. LOL. They are gorgeous, though, and yay for reading!

      • Esmerelda says:

Boat shoes, she’s supposed to wear proper upper class boat shoes. And navy blue. Or beige. Or greige. 😉

        (just kidding)

    • Tristan says:

They seem like the coolest family on the planet & their style of parenting just seems so right. When one considers what the two of them must balance between them in terms of work, charity & family, it is amazing that they always seem so relaxed & content. You can’t please everyone with one’s personal style, but AJ gets it absolutely right most times in my opinion. Low key when off duty, serious & sober when doing charity & megawatt glamour when doing red carpet. She certainly always seems appropriate for the occasion & comfortable in whatever she is wearing, which is what true elegance & style is about

      • Blackcat says:

I really appreciate the fact that Brad and Angelina are, to my memory, two of only a few celebs who don’t walk around busy and preoccupied on their phones while “spending time” with their children.
From photos, they appear to be intellectually and emotionally engaged with their children. So my hat’s off to them-KUDOS!

    • Suzanne says:

She’s ALWAYS dressed in black. Says a lot to me about her outlook. I wouldn’t think of leaving my house without makeup and my hair done…to at least TRY to look my best. Not this woman. She looks like she’s barely put together…Too much effort to get dressed in something colorful and cheerful…curl my hair…put some color on my lips and cheeks. Nope. DRAB PRINCESS reigns supreme!

      • Maya says:

I am sorry but who says a woman has to wear colour, makeup etc when they leave the house? Who decides what looks the best? Angelina looks clean, casual and normal – what’s drap about that?

Just because you feel that you have to wear makeup and colourful clothes to look the best it doesn’t mean that others have to follow you. Your comment says more about your outlook than anything else.

I know several women including myself who only wears makeup when there is function – never wear makeup for work or shopping or even visiting people.

Women should dress and wear makeup as they want to for their own comfortability and not because of other people’s opinions/wishes. It’s takes a different kind of confidence to wear what you want to wear, when you want to wear it and leave your face makeup less or minimalistic as possible.

      • taxi says:

AJ doesn’t need much primping to look fabulous & black clothing is not an “outlook” statement. It’s a very practical color that simplifies dressing, hides spills, & makes it possible for career women in NYC to be stylish on limited budgets. Manhattan rents are so high that it is not uncommon for young law firm associates & investment bank employees to have 4 or 5 women sharing a 2 BR apartment with curtains dividing the BRs. A friend who rose to great heights by age 35 in the bank world said they all wore black because they grabbed from small closets & didn’t have space to deal with colors.

      • M.A.F. says:

Oh please. Just because she is wearing all black doesn’t mean she is drab. Please. Mom’s (and ALL WOMEN to be frank) can wear whatever they please.

      • Alice says:

Drab???????!!!!!!! Wish I were so drab.

      • Carmen says:

I can’t think of a more practical color to wear when you’re going out, especially when you’re shopping with kids.

      • Jerry says:

Good for you. Do you want a prize?

      • Cleo says:

Don’t take this the wrong way Suzanne, but maybe if you had a face like Angelina Jolie, a simple pony tail, juicy lips and shades would suffice on a trip to the bookstore with your kids?

When you’re blessed with great bone structure and clear skin, you don’t really need to beat yourself down like this season’s winner of RuPaul’s drag race…just a thought.

As for her clothes, er, ‘barely put together?’ She’s wearing black skinny jeans/jeggings, and a tank and jacket NOT sackcloth and ash. I read she likes black, because she has a lot of kids and they (and she) get messy sometimes.

        Dear Gawd lighten up.

Her flats and handbag probably could pay your rent for two months. You sound demented.

Sheesh. The aniston cat lady dementia rages on, year 10. Lol

      • KellyBee says:

        Wrong post

      • Rachel says:

I agree with Maya. Where in the rule book does it say that being born a woman means you have to style your hair and spackle your face to step outside your house???

      • Pinky says:

You have never been to New York. Period. And you seem to have little appreciation for Audrey Hepburn? Yes all black is a statement but it is a perpetually chic (not to mention practical) one at that.

      • Jag says:

        I love wearing black!

That said, if she were to get all glammed up, she would draw even more attention than she does already.

I also agree with those who are saying that women don’t have to be “made up” to be beautiful or matter in this world.

        Kudos to Angelina!

      • Aubrey says:

Her color choice is a reminent of her goth days, so yes it does show her outlook.

      • Alice says:

The woman who wears black lives a very colorful life.

      • Camille (the Original) says:

I’d love to hear your take on Jen Garners casual ‘style’. LOL

      • Michelle says:

She is GORGEOUS naturally without makeup!

      • gennline says:

        Delete

    • laura in LA says:

Yep, I’ve always thought that Angie dressed in all-black not only because that’s her style – but just because it’s much simpler that way, especially with six kids and so much travel, also deflects any physical attention to herself while out in public with them.

(Having said all that, I almost feel badly for assuming otherwise about the Gafflecks…)

Anyway, it’s nice to see the Jolie-Pitts back in LA and doing normal activities as much this super-famous family can – visiting bookstores for their birthdays!

  3. Brittney B says:

It looks like the door says Barnes & Noble… and I have the exact same bags from a recent B&N purchase. But maybe “BookStar” is one of their off-shoots?

Either way, I adore the way they parent. Someone called them “middle-class millionaires” and I think it’s true… and most likely intentional. Bookstores and libraries were my FAVORITE places when I was seven, so I’m a wee bit jealous that they get to pick out whatever they want for their birthdays… but let’s be honest, they could buy the whole store if they wanted to. I’m willing to bet these kids are the most grounded in Hollywood.

    • someone says:

Yeah, the glass behind them definitely says Barnes and Noble. Is Bookstar a part of Barnes and Noble? We don’t have them where I live.

    • Liberty says:

here you go — at their Bookstore stores, they put the bookstore in an old movie theatre. You can kind of see it here. It kind of feels small like an independent in a way.

      http://www.yelp.com/biz/barnes-and-noble-booksellers-bookstar-studio-city

    • MediaMaven says:

BookStar was an independent bookstore in SoCal for a long time – coolest bookstores. Movie-theatre themed – they tended to be in old movie houses that they purchased and retrofitted. B&N bought the chain years ago, but retained the look in some of their key locations. I loved to visit the store in Point Loma (San Diego) – very cool – totally different vibe than B&N.

    • Becks says:

Bookstar is actually Barnes and Noble. This location is the one I shop at, I wish I could have seen them! Ha.
This store is pretty cool because it used to be a theatre. I just love it. I’m always there with my pup!

  4. Maya says:

Hey leave the nude flats alone – I wear them all the time for work because it suits almost every clothes and colour you wear.

But God this woman is stunning – just look at her flawless glowing skin.

The twins are so cute and so grown up – I also remember the people magazine cover when they were a few weeks old.

PS: I think this can put to rest the Angelina calls the pap accusation that came from some people. It’s not only paps but normal people who takes the pictures no matter where this family goes. This family is so famous that they don’t have to tip anyone off.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

Here it is some paps pics

      • Maya says:

Maybe these ones but on other sites you can see lots of people taking pictures with their phones.

    • hadlyB says:

The Chloe flats? Are they Chloe? I love them.

Whats wrong with them? I don’t get the hate?!? I have a million pair of flats. And a few (( gasp!!) wedges. But not Chloe, mine are just old Jcrew or AGL. Wish they were Chloe! lol

Though I have been living in my Rainbow flip flops lately.

      • hotlanta says:

I have these Chloe flats and they are the most comfortable shoes in the world!!

      • Dara says:

Yep – Chloe flats. I yearn for a pair. A few years ago I splurged and bought a very similar Tory Burch style and they are shockingly uncomfortable. I can only wear them an hour or two and I’m ready to set them on fire (with my feet still in them) just to make the agony stop. If I wasn’t so afraid the Chloe shoes would be the same, I’d have a pair in my closet by now.

  5. steph says:

They’re all gorgeous! The twins have gotten so tall, Vivi is so pretty 😀

  6. Longhairdontcare says:

    I see Brad Brad Brad

  7. jamrock says:

Viv look more oike her dad side of the family than angie while knox is alll angie

  8. Don't kill me I'm French says:

She has the same ugly beige Chloe shoes than Jennifer Garner

    • Meowsy says:

Hollywood Mom chic. Actually just Mom chic because I’m pretty sure my mom has nude flats too.

    • Liberty says:

For laughs, a friend and I tried on some similar beige flats last summer.

My friend said, “Wow, we can look like we are barefoot AND have ugly feet all at once!”

      • Flats are just SO ugly. So ugly. But I have a pair of really ugly sandals that are so comfortable that I wear EVERYWHERE…..so I can’t really talk. But yea. I hate flats just because they make your feet look ugly.

  9. Abby says:

Love these photos. Book store! Best birthday gift ever! I actually like all of Angelina’s style, even the shoes. Looks chic and comfortable.

    • Camille (the Original) says:

I don’t care for her shoes but otherwise I agree, she looks chic.

  10. jinni says:

I guess I’m the only one that thinks Knox looks like Jolie/ Voight. It’s like how everyone think’s Romeo Beckham looks like David, but all I see is Victoria. Anyway, Knox looks just like pictures I’ve seen of Jolie’s brother when he was a kid.

    • Liberty says:

jinni, you’re not alone. I know what you mean.

    • Paige says:

I think so too. Knox is a mini-Angie and Vivienne is a mini-Brad.

      • Carmen says:

That’s funny because when they were born, everyone said Vivienne looked like Angie and Knox was Brad’s mini-me.

    • Cleo says:

I think Knox looks more like Jolie, who shares Voights almost identical bone structure, Jamie has a diff head shape – he looked exactly like their mom when he was a kid.

    • Cdoggy says:

I was just going to comment this same thing. Knox looks exactly like Angelina’s brother, James.

  11. Jayna says:

It’s sweltering July. That just looks so out of season out and about in the heat. I love Vivienne’s dress.

    • Esmom says:

I hear you but to me it seems like A/C is getting colder and colder in places. I’v been miserably cold when I shop and when I eat out, so now I tend to dress more warmly than seems appropriate when I’m out in the summer, unless I know I’m going to be outside most of the day.

I think they all look cute.

    • lucy2 says:

It was 95 here in the Northeast yesterday, and I saw some woman out walking in jeans and a long sleeve shirt. And smoking. I don’t know how she didn’t keel over.

      • BNA FN says:

Have you seen KK lately? She is wearing a coat every where because she is trying to hide her arms and butt because she gained pregnancy weight.

      • jwoolman says:

I always wear long sleeves and long pants when I go out. I burn in the sun otherwise. My skin doesn’t like sunscreen too much either. My mother always put a shirt over my swimsuit when I was a kid.

Also if you’re going inside stores mostly, you’ll freeze otherwise….

    • Peggy says:

Hint, look at what the people outside the store are wearing.
It’s a simple tank top covered with a light shirt, free Country, it is her choice.

  12. Naddie says:

Buying books for kids is the greatest thing ever. I’m not intimate to them, but I guess Angelina and Brad are always teaching and showing their kids that mind and soul is above looks, and that’s something to treasure about. Most parents I know are completely shallow with their kids’s education.

    • Liberty says:

This x1000. My parents made a big point of taking us to bookstores and the library once a week as I grew up (and those in-school annual book fairs too).

I’ve done the same with all my nieces/nephews, who love books as much as sports really. One is a science and football maniac at ten. One, a history and baseball buff. Etc. Our neighborhood has two very good kids’ bookstores, one managed by teachers, and I do a lot of shopping there for gifts. A few times, I took my niece plus a neighbor’s child that she’s pals with for book shopping and “tea” (juice) in the little attached cafe. Great day. It’s always heartening to see all the children who like to read, still, and the way they seem to treat books with excitement. hugging favorite ones like they are precious, in addition to reading on devices etc. I think this is a real market (I see it wherever I travel).

      • lower-case deb says:

when i was young, the only place within walking distance of my house that had air conditioning and comfy gardens was the library. i was so sad when it got demolished for a shopping center. there’s so many happy memories there.

today, i have to drive my kids a bit far to go to a library. but thankfully the second-hand book market’s stingy madam is getting more lenient in her old age, letting kids read and browse in her store rather than chasing away nonbuying kids. she has amazing gems in her store.

    • Suzanne says:

OMG…they are the greatest parents on the planet. We get it. They appear to me…to be the two most stuck on themselves people on the planet ….but are supposedly teaching their children not to place value on LOOKS. Yeah. Okay. Whatever.

      • KellyBee says:

Wow, calm down I think Naddie was comparing them to someone like the Kardashians who only value looks over education or anything else. No said that they are the greatest parents on the planet, just that buying books for kids is great. You must be trolling.lol

( They appear to me…to be the two most stuck on themselves people on the planet ….but )

I’m not sure where you get that, when in your above comment you say Angelina always looks barely put together. How can she be stuck on herself when, according to you she doesn’t care how she looks? Those two things just don’t go together or did you forget what you wrote above.

Seriously, how you can say her and Brad are two most stuck on themselves people on the planet. When we live in a world with people like the Kardashians and Kanye West who has referred to himself has god I’ll never know but we get it you don’t like them.

      • Naddie says:

Your comment is actually funny, since I’ve been called out by her creepy fans on previous posts… Well, I’m just making a compliment based on the way she and her kids present themselves in front of cameras. No ridiculously fancy clothers or hostile gestures towards people. Also, everytime she gives an interview, she doesn’t talk about make up tricks, low carb/gluten free diets or how to stay young forever. She’s not a goddess as some of her fans like to think, still, I feel like pointing out things I find positive about her.

    • Summertime says:

I agree that Brand+Angie are doing a good job of showing their kids what truly matters in life, whether through books or world travel and volunteerism. But I take a little umbrage with your statement that “most parents … are completely shallow with their kids’ education.”

I’m curious why you feel that way. I have four young children and interact a lot with other parents. In my experience, we are all very concerned about giving our children a broad, lasting education that centers on courage, creativity and civility. We are constantly finding ways to get them off screens and go outside. I am very careful about how I speak to my children to make sure they understand that working hard and helping others is of greater value than appearance or status. I imagine most parents do the same.

So while I applaud the Jolie-Pitts for buying books, I also applaud all the parents out there who do the same. Because most parents really do care, at least in my experience.

      • Neah23 says:

To be fair they said most parents THEY KNOW. He/She was not talking about parents in general.

      • Summertime says:

Ah, yes. I was assuming OP meant “I know” in a general sense — i.e. “parent these days!” But you are probably right. In which case, I hope OP can come and hang with me and my mom friends. We’re pretty dedicated to raising a generation of bookworms. (Although I could use a reading comprehension course.)

  13. pretty says:

Knox is prettier than Vivian. Knox looks more like Jolie while Vivi looks more like Brad Pitt.

  14. Lilacflowers says:

Books! If only someone had given some to Kylie Jenner.

  15. Tiffany says:

I just realized something, every kid but Maddox has a People cover. I remember when she introduced Mad, just a casual shot in the grass. The tide changed for sure when her and Brad got together.

    • zut alors! says:

I thought she was filming Beyond Borders in Namibia when the adoption came through and Maddox had to be flown to her as she couldn’t leave the set. I also think she wanted to keep the news private but her father blabbed to the media.

      • Yes. She flew out to get Maddox from Cambodia, and brought him back with her on the set of Beyond Borders. And her dad did blab.

I also think celebrity culture/gossip changed in 2005/2006. Even this blog started in 2006. Pap photos were more in demand, celebrity news could be daily instead of weekly, etc.

    • Peggy says:

      zut alors!
You’re right, Maddox was flown into Namibia to Angie, who was working on Beyond Borders.
She said the Namibian women were so helpful to her, showing her how to take care of him, maybe that is where she pick up the baby slings from.

  16. skippy says:

Angelina, you are so pretty, but you need some sun. Morticia Addams has more color.
    Beautiful kids.

    • Peggy says:

How do you know she is not getting sun? Because she is not orange, it don’t mean she is not getting sun, I’m sure you’ve seen the big floppy hats she wears to protect her skin, that is why her skin is not like dry leather.

  17. kri says:

Book shopping was THE birthday treat for us. brings back some really good memories. AJ looks great. The kids are gorgeous, of course. I miss seeing Z’s face, tho. she has the best expressions!

  18. Paige says:

Vivienne looks the most like Brad. The Jolie genes are strong on Knox. I’ve seen pics of Angelina’ s brother as a child, and Knox looks like him a lot. I can’t believe how many random people had their phones out to take pic of this family. It’s beyond ridiculous.

  19. FWiW says:

Knox looks like a mini Brad with a tiny bit of Angie in the eyes but he looks 90% Brad. Same with Shiloh. Viv has a greater combination of both. All gorgeous but mostly I see Brad when I look at all of them.

  20. Firebomber says:

I have nothing against her but she looks rather scary to me. Deathly white and her hairline is so far back on her head. I dont find her that attractive actually.

    • Carmen says:

Chacun a son gôut. She’s naturally very pale and probably uses tons of sunscreen, which is smart if her skin is sensitive.

      • Firebomber says:

Im a redhead with sun sensitive skin. Im very careful with the sun but I dont look like a corpse. There’s actually some color to my skin without sun.

      • Jerry says:

She seems to take great pains to protect her skin. I would too, if I had the history of Cancer that is in her family. She’s had members that died of skin cancer. And as far as her hairline goes, what exactly is she supposed to do about that?

    • Naddie says:

I get your point, but maybe dead white is her favorite skin color? I only say that because I used to crave this color for my skin, even if people relate it to a corpse.

  21. Ava says:

Knox looks nothing like Brad.He is spitting image of Jolie.Vivienne is pure Pitt

  22. mayamae says:

I always thought Shiloh was pure Jon Voight. I didn’t realize how much Knox and Shiloh looked alike until he cut his hair, and I would mistake one for the other. I think Vivienne looks less like Angelina than even Zahara does.

It’s nice seeing Vivienne less traumatized by the paps. She’s not loving it, but she doesn’t look frightened. Knox seems to have taken after Brad’s personality. Even when he was a toddler, he seemed zen, even when strangers were yelling at them.

  23. jc126 says:

    They’re so cute. I love Vivienne’s dress!
I think all the bio-kids need a DNA analysis so we gossipers can discern EXACTLY how much they inherited from each parent, as it’s an endlessly fascinating subject, ha ha.
And while I understand the impulse to just wear black, it looks so HOT in the summer, and it’s not like AJ has any fat to try to hide, either.

  24. tiff says:

thats a barnes and noble store and bags not a bookstar

  25. Frank Gallagher says:

She needs to gain weight and always in Elvira all black. Angie got boring and boney.

    • lisa2 says:

She probably should do whatever she wants.. I suppose her actually enjoying her life with her husband and kids could seem boring. But then her actual LIFE was not meant to entertain the world.
