Rihanna may not cooperate with prosecutors due to information leaks

There’s a rumor in the Chris Brown abuse case is that his victim/girlfriend Rihanna is refusing to cooperate further with Los Angeles prosecutors. But it’s not for the reason you might expect. At first, the story was that Rihanna didn’t want to further incriminate Brown- but now, those close to the singer say that she doesn’t trust the prosecutors in the case to keep her testimony and other details of the incident from the media.

The word over the weekend from Los Angeles is that star singer Rihanna is not cooperating with prosecutors in the Chris Brown case.

Sources say Rihanna “wants the whole thing” to go away and isn’t helping the district attorney prepare his case against Brown for allegedly beating her to a pulp in the early hours of February 8th, the day the of the Grammy Awards.

Apparently Rihanna is angry, they say, that pictures of her bruises were leaked to the press. She’s not happy, too, that she was quickly identified as Brown’s victim.

[From Fox News]

Rihanna has every right to be upset about that photo being leaked. There certainly doesn’t seem to be much control over the information pertaining to this case, and I doubt that will change if there’s a trial. This was a very personal ordeal for her, and to have to go through it under this kind of media scrutiny must be a nightmare. It’s the court and the police’s job to protect the victim - and in this case, it hasn’t happened. Still, so many people are looking to Rihanna to stand up for herself - by having her day in court, if it gets that far, to tell her side of the story. She shouldn’t give up that chance, even if it means the world will hear what happened.

Note by Celebitchy: According to a rep from the L.A. County DA’s office quoted by TMZ, Rihanna is cooperating with investigators and they “deal with her attorney who says she is a cooperating victim.”

  1. Must be tough to have your personal life in the media like that. But I don’t get why she’s out partying at these hotspots, she should lay low for a change.

  2. people are waiting for riri to stand up for herself but also they want her to stop being such a bitch.
maybe this isn’t the most politically correct comment, but thats why some people (like me) are having a hard time sympathizing with her as a victim of a brutal attack.
don’t get me wrong - she deserves all the sympathy of a victim, but like Whitney Huston she has this obnoxious diva attitude, and her nose up in the air which doesn’t really coincide with the notion of a victim. the truth is not all battered women are these delicate fragile creatures waiting to be rescued. some of these women are complete bitches - obviously trying to hide behind their bitchy persona to avoid their reality - but still… it’s hard to look past their nasty attitude.

  4. Why does it matter if its leaked? She should stop letting her fuckin ego get in the way of being a role model to battered women.

  6. A lot of women are sometimes the type that simply cannot fathom that THEY of all people are in the situation they’re in.

Rihanna has to get it into her thick skull that to abusers like Chris do not care about the person they are hurting as long as it is SOMEONE there.

She has got to understand that to many abusers, she is simply an object to attack and at times the prettier the better the abuser feels.

  7. I thought a statement was released recently that she is cooperating through her lawyer?

I don’t know, I’m indifferent to her and her guy now. I think she is out partying to give the illusion that they are not together, but I’ll almost bet that once the court thing is over and he is cleared, she will be back with him again.

  8. Can anybody enlighten me about her so-called bitchiness? I’m skeptical about it since I haven’t heard story one on that, but I have checked out the Bossip comments, which are mostly against Rihanna because she’s “such a bitch” and he is so great. Sounds to me like Chris fans are all very very forgiving very young women who don’t understand the danger of abuse of this nature.

  9. “She’s not happy, too, that she was quickly identified as Brown’s victim…” How dumb does she think the public is? The night of the Grammy’s she nor Chris Brown show up, an announcement is made that Brown turned himself in for assault…..hmmmmm, wonder who he assaulted?? Duh!

  10. I think the “bitch” rumors are in the line of: She’s a bitch anyway, so she:
    a. Provoked the attack herself
    b. Deserved the attack
    c. Was “an equal participant in
    a trashy fistfight” (to quote
    another blogger on this site

The net effect is to a)diminish Brown’s responsibility in the attack b) increase Rhianna’s responsibility in the “fight” c) normalize a battery incident into a private domestic matter that doesn’t require police intervention/ legal prosection

So that’s why people want to call her a bitch.
