And his new bride, Amber Heard, doesn’t come cheap, either. “He’s spending a fortune on Amber to keep her happy,” adds the source, citing a lavish wedding and their private Bahamas island that costs $1 million a year just in upkeep. Hoping to take the pressure off, Johnny recently listed his 37-acre French estate for $26 million but is facing mounting legal bills over Amber’s dog-smuggling charges in Australia — she’s due to appear in a Queensland court on Sept. 7 and if found guilty, could face 10 years in prison!
“Legal fees aside, his lifestyle costs a fortune. Their entire relationship consists of him spoiling her,” says the friend. “Amber can easily blow through her designated monthly allowance — rumored to be $25,000 — and he won’t say a word because he’s afraid of losing her.”

He didn’t know the prize he had with Vanessa. Geminis need space when they get moody. She did her own thing ALOT and never pestered him. Not even for marriage. She knew he likes mystery, lots of space and to not be to accessible. She is also that way and not needy nor insecure. But Amber thinks that because he was bemused by her she has him on lock NOPE. For a long time, Vanessa was the one who did that. By all outside appearances, Johnny was in a committed, non-marital relationship with the mother of his children. And they seemed to those of us in the US to be living the romantic, bohemian artist life in France before even the Jolie-Pitts were doing it.
Also, he not only did films with some of the greatest actors of the last 60 yrs but found success in the Pirates franchise before even RDJ did so as Iron Man.
Amber, for anyone who’s watching, just makes him look like an old fool, but it’s not the age difference.
Why did they get married in the first place?
This is quite typical in a relationship with this much of an age difference, especially when the older man (or woman) has the vast money to spoil even more. Its not ideal and shows insecurity in the relationship if its true but it does not mean that a future break is always certain.
I don’t know why they get do much hate, I bet Depp would still have got alot of criticism in any relationship after Vanessa P. Just because people blame him for the “shocking” break up but the criticism is worse now because he is with a younger woman.
The “shocking” break-up wasn’t shocking for their real fans. The last 3 years they spent very little time together, it was typical – a mother with more grown-up kids decided to devote to her work, unfortunately her career is in France.
I know AGA but alot of people seem to act surprised that they just broke up and refuse to move on from it by keep bringing Vanessa P. Into every conversation about these two’s relationship and feeling the need to always compare her to Amber H. and stating what a huge mistake Depp did by f@cking up their “perfect relationship”. Maybe he was mostly at fault, no one will know for certain but some people seem to be waiting in gleeful anticipation for the break up of their marriage so they can cheer and say I told you so in behalf of Vanessa P. There relationship may not be the most ideal based on many people’s standards but they might genually love each other and their marriage might be legit (for Hollywood standards). Just my opinion as I don’t see the need for continues cynicism and wistful thinking of fail of their relationship.
I think it’s because she seems (for lack of a better word) so basic. Yes she is beautiful, she is a young beautiful girl, but johnny depp always tried to give off the impression he’s above all those cliches, alternative, thoughtful, the type of guy who loves you for your mind. Now there’s a feeling of artificiality to the image he’s been trying to sell us. They push so hard to make her look ‘different’ in interviews usually highlighting that she’s ‘bisexual’ *GASPS* as if that some how gives her substance. I doubt JD is so selfish that he wouldn’t give her a portion of the money that he earned while she was taking care of their kids and providing a stable home for him. I don’t know if he gave her that much, but I’m sure he gave her a sizable chunk. Even though they weren’t married, they were together for 14 years.
Vanessa was also the one telling him to take the Pirates role. So Johnny wouldn’t have been making the big bucks last decade without her.

Star isn’t a reliable source, but it is very plausible that JD is blowing through his fortune. That is the price many of these idiotic rich people pay to live an extremely lavish lifestyle with a spouse young enough to be their child or grandchild. When you factor in taxes on multiple million dollar properties, private jets, maintenance on those properties including an entire freaking island, legal fees, luxury yachts and vehicles, private chefs, private trainers, and thousands of dollars in shopping each month, even a multimillionaire could go broke after a few bad investments and a career downturn. I do not feel sorry for these people at all. No one needs his own private island. One or two mansions are enough. Greed and stupidity have been the undoing of many celebrities.
The private island was only one property he bought after the Pirate. His lifestyle hasn’t been changed after Amber, he even sold the yacht 2 years ago.

The article says he “agreed” to do another POTC because he needs cash. He just didn’t wake up one morning, say he’ll do another POTC, and the cameras start to roll. Those types of movies are in pre-production for years. I think they worked on a script for two or three years. Obviously he was on board with the project before the first draft was written.
