Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert awkwardly tweeted each other post-divorce

I’m still not entirely sure what happened between Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton last week. They announced their divorce one week ago exactly, and in 72 hours that followed, I had never seen such an across-the-board smear campaign. Blake’s side seemed to start the campaign, but Team Miranda got some punches in too. But by Thursday, everything came to a halt. The smear campaign seemed to be over. By Friday, there were no more reports about infidelity and Blake and Miranda were even awkwardly communicating with each other via Twitter:

My guess – and this really is just a theory – is that someone on Blake’s team realized that smearing Miranda in the press wasn’t going to work out long-term because Blake wasn’t some angel during the marriage either. So détente happened and now Blake and Miranda are making nice publicly.

What else? TMZ says that Blake and Miranda are both still scheduled to headline the 2015 WE Fest in Minnesota, although they will be performing separately and on different nights. They probably won’t even run into each other. Blake also performed in Wisconsin a few days ago but he had to cut the concert short because of a huge storm system. Blake told the audience, “This isn’t my week.”

    There was a blind about a couple who shared some sort of team. The team told them to knock it off because destroying the other’s career wouldn’t help theirs and it would hurt the team. The team also represents a third party who the couple ended up promoting.

    I read that and thought of Blranda. I’m not sure what team they might share, but I don’t think it’s the record label. Maybe management? They both supported Ashley Monroe.

    • A says:

      it’s probable they share the same record label.

    • Lara K says:

      They do NOT share a record label, for sure. She has given that as a reason to not tour together.
      But maybe management or publicist or God knows what.

      Definitely the blind applies – both are better off keeping quiet and not p*ssing off the country fan base.

    • Melissa says:

      Same management company.

    Whatever happened, glad it’s over. You can’t work through things and get out of “amped up” mode with millions of people taking sides. It probably ended for the same reasons most marriages end. They married the wrong person and both weren’t willing to overcome obstacles to make it work. They’ll probably both be happier for it.

    Silence was the best was the best way to handle this situation. Time to get a new team if they think bashing your ex in public and accusing her of being unfaithful is the best defense. Especially when everyone knows his not so clean history with women.

    And I’m sure his demographic is mainly women. The last thing you want to do piss off your fan base. Not good for ratings.

    Several media outlets were alluding that these tweets were playful and/or cute. I didn’t get that vibe, and I highly doubt that they were actually tweeting each other. More like someone from their respective teams. Also, that tweet from Miranda re: the drink seems like shade to me.

    • Pandy says:

      I don’t feel the playful/cute vibe either. I feel the “ordered to knock it off and save your reputation” vibe.

  5. tracking says:

    Yeah, it was so interesting, and obvious, when the conciliatory tweets started. BS of course, but smart move. They would have just torn each other down, no winners, otherwise.

  6. supposedtobeworking says:

    they work in a small community. They are going to have to get along on the surface, so I imagine it will be ‘smooth sailing’ from here.

    Just a question – do publicists ever do anything their star would not want them to do? Hypothetically (not being naive), but could Blake’s management decide to go that route because they were aware of his reputation? I imagine it happens.

    Now I’m being naive, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t cheat, and that his flirtatiousness just makes it an easy assumptions. I have 3 friends like that who are being devoted to their wives, but very flirty. With both genders.

    • Neah23 says:

      He cheated I posted tweets last week of one of the ladies he cheated with and who brother came out and said it happened and Blake Blacklisted her after the fling.

      • Valois says:

        Neah, were did you post that? I couldn’t find it fter skimming the older posts 🙂

      • Neah23 says:

        Here you go these are just some of her tweets and if you Google her name you will find the link to her brother administration of the affair at Radar.

        Its sick that I experienced a once in a lifetimes love-still as strong as the day it happened- & have been punished every single day since.

        @cadygroves
        I never quit loving you—you just ran

        @cadygroves
        Isn’t that what they teach you love is? One loves the other more and therefor holds the power to virtually murder the other.

        @cadygroves
        You had the power. And you turned off the lights. I lit the world alone: and now, isn’t it crazy I just wanna shine with you?

        @cadygroves
        After all these years- it’s you. Always was: always will be.

        @cadygroves
        All that’s left now is the future.

        ‏@cadygroves
        Ignore the negativity in your life. Right now I’m taking bullets for other people and sometimes in life that’s where courage comes from.

        @cadygroves
        I love each and every one of you. I am a good person. Do not judge someone if you don’t know anything about anything. It’s ridiculous.

        This is from a 2012 interview with Cady. She’s shameless.

        “Blake was a huge inspiration to me!” she gushed. “He is an amazing guy. It’s just too bad he’s married. I love older men! I’m a petite 21 year-old and Blake is tall and 35. That’s called a perfect fit where we’re from.

        “I think (Blake) is very handsome, and as a couple we would look great. We even had photos taken together on set with his arm around me.

        “Any girl would be lucky to have him. Miranda should consider herself lucky…”

        Here another new tweet.

        @cadygroves
        Everything shapes you: your scars, your mistakes, you accomplishments: but the most important thing that defines you: the amount of love you not only accept, but give. Because you are worth all the love in the world—and you definitely have mine. 💜💜

      • Sam says:

        If this is Blake, can you believe the BS he is giving that girl? She is 21! Of course she’s going to fall for these lines – a rich, handsome, successful guy who can help launch her career or give her whatever she wants…. I probably would have believed he meant it and fallen for him, too.

        I don’t want to believe this is him, but from the rumors that I have heard, he is quite the cheater and so is she. Open marriage, maybe? I don’t know but their Publicists and Management Company knows how a bitter split will play out with country music fans. They have to keep their fans believing it was amicable, and should have jointly issued a statement in the first place.

      • Supposedtobeworking says:

        That sounds like a psycho with a crush, nit evidence Blake had an affair with her.

      • Neah23 says:

        I can’t find them right now but their are tweets of them tweeting each other and they have meet before their are photos.

  7. EricaV says:

    Except today TMZ has a post showing all of Miranda’s stuff packed up and sitting on the porch so maybe not so civil after all….

  8. kcarp says:

    These two seem like the type to fight, fight some more, break up, start texting, get drunk together, then they are back on. The cycle then repeats itself over and over.

    The two week divorce thing was so quick they never had a chance to cycle back to “on” again.

    Two weeks is not enough time to wait for a divorce to be final, that’s less time than a lot of cleanses.

    I love Country Music and I can’t deny the trashy element of the whole bunch.

  9. Div says:

    I said from the beginning that publicly throwing mud is just dumb for celebrities. I get the temptation, but it opens the door for tons of tabloid stories, speculation, etc that will become baggage for them for years. The best thing to do is for them to grit their teeth and remain silent, even if it truly is a nasty, messy, insane divorce imo.

  10. Anna says:

    They are both just so unfortunate looking…

  11. Idon'tCare says:

    I’m bored and don’t care about these two!! I’m still waiting for the absolute complete crazy trainwreck of epic proportions when Leann Rimes & her “soulmate” finally split! I’ll be passing out popcorn in the room!! Allegedly! haha!!

  12. Sonia says:

    Noooo, really? Unfortunate looking? I think Blake is so handsome!
