This really feels like the summer of divorces, and these things come in threes, right? (I don’t believe in that, but it could be true.) We have Ben and Jen, Miranda and Blake, and now The National Enquirer is claiming that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are ready to pull the plug. Normally I would ignore this report, because these two have inexplicably stayed together for years after very steady, very believable breakup rumors in early 2012. However The Enquirer called the Gattfleck divorce, down to when it would happen, so I’m giving them more credit than I normally might. They claim that Will and Jada are sick of keeping up appearances and are about to call it quits. They even say that these two have already worked out a settlement. Here’s more, thanks to The Enquirer:
After 17 years, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are ending their rocky marriage – with a blockbuster secret divorce deal, sources have exclusively claimed to the National Enquirer…
“They’re exhausted from trying to maintain the façade of a happy union. They’ve decided to pull the plug in a carefully choreographed manner, [and] agree announcing their split at the end of the summer is the right move.”
The A-listers have already “worked out a confidential settlement to protect their $240 million fortune, and prepare their kids [son Jaden, 17, and daughter Willow, 14] for the fallout,” the source said…
“They tried to fix things with therapy, [but] it’s not happening,” explained the source.
Said another source: “They’re already moving on with their lives. All that’s left is the inking of the divorce papers.”

I think Will and Jada give each other a lot of freedom to do whatever and whomever (Jada has said as much, but she doesn’t say it outright) and that they hook up when it’s convenient. They’ve probably been like this for years. If they are divorcing, I can see them doing it in a controlled way that tries to minimize the impact on their kids. I checked their social media accounts and while Will hasn’t posted anything of Jada, she did post a nice message to him last month. So they could be hanging in there, it’s hard to tell.
As I browsed through Will Smith’s Instragram I realized that I haven’t yet seen this incredible shirtless pic he posted two weeks ago. Holy crap. This man is 46 years old.
I think they are both sort of nuts, but I’m sorry to hear this. Not surprised, but sorry.

QE2 put up with so many shenanigans from Philip in their younger years, including a rumored 20-year affair with her cousin, that she has earned the right to make him miserable until he’s in the grave. (I’m not saying that rumor is true or anything. Just saying it’s out there, among many others about Phil and The Ladies. I guess people considered him quite dashing in his day.)
The tabloids are greedy this year. They already have a big divorce with Garner and Affleck that is now getting messier. And then the smaller Miranda and Blake divorce. I guess they are trying to make up for how boring last summer was.

Kiddo, I know what you mean. I love the old Jada, way back in her A Different World days. I like Will too. I find them odd and I disagree with their ideas of parenting but for some reason I like them as a family. I love their closeness.
I know what you mean. I think the longevity of their marriage says a lot about their commitment, especially in Hollywood. I disagree with them on lots of things that are absolutely none of my business, but I still liked them as a couple, and feel sad when a true effort can’t make it to the finish line.

ITA..I love them as a couple and would be saddened if they broke up. I don’t agree with some of their parenting choices but they seen committed to be good parents, not only to their children together but to his son from a previous marriage. They seem committed to each other, giving each other space to live their lives on their on terms without damaging or disrespecting their mate. I don’t see any comparison to Affleck and Garner. Jennifer always seemed more committed to the marriage than Ben. He seemed committed to the image of their marriage. Jada and will appeared to be equally committed and in agreement to all aspects of their lives. And as much as I am not a Scientology fan. People are allowed to practice and believe in whatever they want. I am tired of people bashing other for their beliefs. If you don’t like it then don’t practice it.
I don’t think Enquirer has any inside scoop here. Saying they will divorce by the end of the summer is such a vague timeline, it seem like their just putting it out there just in case something happens.
Jada and Will have been living separate lives for a while now. He does his thing and she does hers and when they need to play happy family they come together. I think it’s been working for them for awhile now, I can only see that changing if one of them found somebody that’s more then a fling.
Yes, I would expect them to wait until both kids are out on their own. Their daughter is 14, they could keep it up for another few years. It’s not as though they are forced to share a bedroom in a small house. They could live together and see each other only like people in the same apartment building. If they’ve had an open marriage for years, this would be an odd time to end it unless one of them has fallen in love with someone else who doesn’t want to wait.

According to the tabloids, every Hollywood couple is getting divorced by the end of the year. They just keep changing the names on the stories and they are all the same. If you report they all are, it is probable that someone will, so they can go back and say ” See, Told you so”.

My contribution here is very shallow, but jada is really beautiful. I saw her on a cnn being interviewed (I was at the gym, only saw a few minutes I think it was about sex trafficking?). I believe she is in her forties? She looks thirty and if she’s had stuff done, it doesn’t show. I guess I never noticed before, pictures don’t do her justice, but she is lovely.

I feel like Will and Jada reached their “settlement” years ago, and one of the key terms was staying married, at least until the kids are grown.
