Calvin Harris & Zayn Malik got into a Twitter beef about Taylor Swift: juvenile?

wenn22537743

We were gossip-spoiled this summer. We’ve had so many good gossip stories, it’s pretty crazy. One of those amazing gossip stories was the Prime, Grade A BEEF between Drake and Meek Mill. It was a back and forth of accusations, beef tracks, secondary shade and social media memes. It was glorious. Compared to that, this beef is pretty tame and cheeseball. It’s still funny though.

Okay, it started when Zayn Malik retweeted a now-deleted tweet from @FemaleTexts which apparently featured side-by-side quotes from Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. The quotes were about how both women view the music industry, and the side-by-side comparison made Swifty look, I guess, like a craven, money-hungry businesswoman while Miley looked like the pot-smoking hippie that she is, because “Money, who cares, man?” Calvin wasn’t happy that Zayn RETWEETED something shading his (CH’s) girlfriend, so Calvin climbed up his ass. This is what followed, in order.

Calvin: @FemaleTexts @zaynmalik You’ve made your money? Cool…f–k the 99% of musicians who depend on these services to survive right? Yeah f–k em… If u don’t get what it means when a successful artist uses their celebrity to benefit every other musician and songwriter in the industry… stay out my f–kin mentions pls… While u kids are refresh voting teen choice awards there’s some poor f–ker in a basement making your new favorite record trying to survive… Meaning…stay out of things you don’t understand

There, I think I got everything. Calvin was pissed off that Zayn was shading Taylor Swift (once again, through a retweet!!!) so he went off about how Swifty is using her power to stand up for struggling artists. Zayn then went off and made it personal, saying that Calvin just made a fool of himself and haha, Calvin Harris is so old, he has dentures, and Calvin sort of breezed by and decided not to engage on Zayn’s petty level. Honestly, neither of them are #winners in this situation, but I think Calvin came across slighter better than Zayn, who just seems… like an idiot? Is he an idiot? I’ve never paid much attention to Zayn (I’m #TeamHarry), so I don’t know. Is Zayn a moron? Because… these tweets. It was so bad that even Louis Tomlinson declared himself Team Calvin. Now, all that being said… Tay-Tay is probably SO SMUG right now. Her boyfriend got into a Twitter Beef because of HER! CALVIN HARRIS = PRINCE CHARMING.

Team money :).Sorry, but all in the entertainment industry are hypocrite to admit that they want money in any way.

    • marley says:

YES, completely. Umm but I don’t see how Harris looked better in the end here, he made it personal first by saying that one direction votes for themselves and don’t write their own songs but later he tried to make it seem like he wasn’t talking to Zayn but the tweet itself. Ummm then what does the original tweet have to do with One Direction and the TCA?? Ewwwwwww, he sounds like a unintelligent douchebag. Zayn kept his cool.

    • Samtha says:

Exactly! I guess Zayn would be fine if people said, “Well, you have enough money now; we’re all just going to pirate your music.”

      • Guest112 says:

ppl do that anyway! ur missing the point and blowing this up for no reason. the point is basically about the fact that ppl are practically BEGGING for Zayn to be a flop. Many ppl do not want him succeed and have been proving that again and again in the this press works. His RT was agreeing with what Miley said; basically saying to all the ppl that want him to flop so badly, he has made good money and he is going be making the music he loves and that’s what it’s all about.

    • Jason says:

      B*tch fest!!! B*tch slap!!!

  2. Amukay says:

    Zayn’s shirt is ridiculous.

I love how most of the people who spew vitriolic rants about the crazy money musicians rake in also download illegally.

  3. Nancy says:

I don’t understand Miss Swift. She comes across so sweet you could get a cavity in her presence….yet there is always a twitter war between her or hers and somebody else in the business. Will the real Taylor please stand up. Not shading her, but the days of Joni Mitchell are in the distant past. With the internet, there is no mystique….i.e. the Rihanna story above. Oh I’m so old.

    • Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

Indeed. I think great artists can get by on their talent alone and don’t need to attract additional attention with their behind the scenes antics.

    • Daria Morgendorffer says:

Katy Perry once tweeted “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing” about Taylor Swift and as more time passes, that comment seems to become more and more accurate. Taylor has a carefully calculated image but it’s all BS. She’s a mean girl. I don’t understand the people who want to “join her click” (as the media puts it) because everything seems so contrived. The photoshoots she has with her friends all the time make her seem like the lamest, most boring person in the world. It really seems to be that either you’re with Taylor or she views you as against her. Her song “Bad Blood” is entirely about some petty beef she had with Katy Perry a few years ago–she’s still on it.

      • Kitten says:

Katy Perry is an idiot too, just a different kind of an idiot.

      • Daria Morgendorffer says:

I totally agree, but I agree with her assessment of Taylor Swift.

      • MonicaQ says:

I’ll take the upfront idiot than the sly idiot.

      • Bridget says:

Petty mean girl? Or extremely savvy in the age of social media? Look at how much we talk about her, how much her name is mentioned. “Feuds” are simply another avenue of social media marketing… as long as you don’t come across like an idiot (looking at you, Zayn).

    • Megan says:

Swifty is the most curated brand I have ever seen. I have no idea who is her brand manager, but they are brilliant.

      • Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

Or there are a lot of stupid people around who fall for her social media BS. Yeah yeah I know, I’m talking about her too. So what? I haven’t spent a cent on what she’s selling.

  4. Ummm. says:

I love Taylor. There, I said it.

    • Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

      How very brave of you.

      • INeedANap says:

        hahahaaa! #shade

      • QQ says:

        BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

      • Meaghan says:

I think she looks very cute with Calvin, seems like they are a good fit for each other. I don’t mind her either, I used to hate her but it always seems when people start hating celebs I jump on the like train.

    • funcakes says:

Though I might not agree with you I’ll defend your right to say it.

    • Kiddo says:

Isn’t that the majority opinion? Maybe not on this site, but pretty much everywhere else in the culture?

      • Abbott says:

@Kiddeaux, why single out this site, hm? We have done nothing but love and support you. It is not like you to pit Celebitches against one another. Maybe you’re thinking of Perez Hilton…

      • Kiddo says:

        Abot, I blame Sophie.

      • Birdix says:

she came to san francisco last week and I couldn’t believe it–all the parents of my daughter’s pre-teen classmates took their kids. I had no idea she was such a phenomenon that EVERYONE had to go (I was out of town, didn’t even know she was coming). My eyebrow was raised skeptically … and then I saw a photo of TS backstage with a friend’s kid who has cancer. I’m so soft sometimes–totally teared up. This kid has had such a tough run, and she was so happy to be with Taylor Swift backstage.

    • Kitten says:

I have a place to hide if you want.
It’s a bunker and there’s weed and juice boxes down there too!

    • Crumpet says:

My perspective is, she is the lesser of two evils. Or really of three or four evils. She is more ….’decent’! *clutches pearls*

      • Kiddo says:

Define ‘decent’. I’m imagining there are variations on perspective of meaning.

      • itzblissy says:

Welll… If i have to choose i rather my daughter be the girl with lots of friends who everyone think is a mean girl than the girl with lots of pictures of her barely clothed on the internet who everyone think is a druggie and slut.

    • Alyce says:

I wouldn’t say love, but I like her too. We need some sort of secret handshake. 😝

    • lile says:

I’m with you girl, even though this article is about these guys. Love Taylor. Love Calvin. Zayn is an arrogant douchbag. Thats it.

    • Priya says:

I love Taylor, too. I don’t trust people who keep insisting she’s a manipulative phony. I feel like it tells me more about the person saying it than Swift herself.

  5. Allie says:

Zayn’s point was that HE made enough money, so now HE can make the music he wants. It really has nothing to do with Taylor, minus her face on the quote. Calvin actually back pedaled when he realized what Zayn meant. And also, the teeth comment was about the fact that Calvin has fake teeth, because he had a make over a few years ago.

So yes, Zayn is an idiot. But Calvin looks even dumber. Calvin was the one that started it, making it about Taylor, when again, it had nothing to do with her. I’m so sick of media coverage about this girl.

    • perplexed says:

I came away thinking that Calvin looked dumber too.

On this instance, I didn’t think Zayn said anything too inflammatory. You could probably disagree with his hypothesis, but his actual language seemed better than Harris’s (well, uh, except for the dentures part which I originally missed — whoops). Still, even with the dentures mentioned, I still thought Calvin came off looking worse, since he seems to have misinterpreted what Zayne said, made the argument about Taylor, and used a lot of swearing I had difficulty piecing together to understand his point. Didn’t Calvin make things personal first with all the F-words and telling him to stay out of things he doesn’t understand?

      • lurker says:

I chuckled at the dentures comment, because I don’t think it was about age. I think it was a reference to Harris’ 90’s movie geek to chic transformation. “dentures” = veneers

      • Jegede says:

@lurker – Thats how I read the dentures diss too.

    • Daria Morgendorffer says:

@Allie, thanks for clarifying that. Your comment inspired me to Google Calvin before and this is what I found:

      http://img.spokeo.com/public/900-600/calvin_harris_2007_02_20.jpg

Whoa. He looks like a completely different person. I guess Zayn really brought out the big guns with that comment….LOL.

      • Crumpet says:

And now I’ve gone down the Calvin dentures rabbit hole. I swear, you never know where you are going to end up when you come to Celebitchy.

      • Kiddo says:

Be grateful it wasn’t a medical skin condition, *shivers*, been there.

    • Ellecommelejour says:

      Everything you said!!!

    • KikiGee says:

      Allie: spot on.

      Yes, though, both plonkers.

    • QQ says:

You’d think the way these two precious lily white babies act, the actual Solar System Revolves around Taylor Swift, One has only to say “Musicians are _________” for Taylor and her Synchopantic brigade to pop up like gophers on a fresh field of veggies like “What?” “Are you Talking About Me?” “Im Good” “Good Feminists Blah blah blah”

      • Kiddo says:

You mean the solar system doesn’t revolve around Swift? Does this mean I have to return the deluxe sparkle unicorn girl’s club kit I purchased?

      • QQ says:

…and all the white crop tops that came with it, YES you DO have to return them

    • vilebody says:

I think it had a lot to do with Taylor. She had just invited Little Mix (which includes Zayn’s ex-finacee) onto her stage at Santa Clara. Since Zayn has been very vocal on twitter bashing his ex, I don’t think this is a coincidence.

  6. Maya says:

I am #teamadult – seriously it’s so immature to do the whole “I am the man” macho thing over the Twitter.

Calvin – I felt sympathy for you when Rita screwed you over. Don’t ruin it by becoming an internet warrior like Taylor.

Zayn – lets talk when you grow up.

    • Nancy says:

Isn’t that the truth. What a leap from Rita to Taylor, which in my mind is further proof Taylor acts one way for the public and is another. From badass chick to Cinderella, doesn’t make sense. Good for you Taylor, you keep people guessing.

    • Kitten says:

      Agreed.

    • Leah says:

Are you guys new to Calvin Harris? He’s always been a keyboard warrior. He’s always in twitter spats with various people including Katy Perry and even Rita before they dated. That man has a massive chip on his shoulder and is ubersensitive to criticism. Once he got security to throw out a woman who shouted he was a sell out. His ego literally cannot handle criticism.

      • MonicaQ says:

Yeah, I unfollowed him on Instagram because he’s a gd nightmare. He’s less mature than Professional Griefer Joel Zimmerman (deadmau5)

      • qtpi says:

He sounds perfect for Taylor! They sound made for each other.

      • Artemis says:

When he blew up, he even made up a lie that Lady Gaga contacted him and he rejected her. Gaga called him out on that lie. That was in 2012!
He has said many problematic things but because of his lack of fame, no1 curr.

  7. LadyMTL says:

This makes me laugh, it’s so high-schooly and ridiculous. They both come off looking like idiots, but if I HAD to choose a side I’d say Calvin “won” by just walking away.

    Still…LMAO.

    • perplexed says:

Didn’t he have to walk away when he realized he had misinterpreted Zayn’s comment?

      • Kiddo says:

That’s what it looked like to me, perplexed. Also I wanna see the receipts on all of these unknown artists Swift helped to elevate. I guess they aren’t worthy of bringing up on stage for a photo-op, that benefits her.

      • Kitten says:

We don’t have the original tweet, which is a shame. It’s hard to fully understand what they meant without that context.

Anyway, if Calvin’s point had been that Swift, along with a couple other key artists have kept the music industry as a whole alive in what’s been an awful year, then I would say he is absolutely correct. But that doesn’t seem to be what he’s saying.

I’m having trouble seeing his point about Swift saving artists who are struggling and making music in their basement. Calvin himself was one of those struggling artists before he made it big (the opposite of Swifty really) so it seems odd to me that he would talk out of turn on a subject that is likely close to his heart.

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

@Kitten. He was arguing about her calling out Spotify/Apple Music and how they should be paying artists royalties off their plays. Obvi, Swift took that stand for the artists to get paid, which was reversed by Apple (and not Spotify). So……all of that to say, is that she did help out all the artists, including the struggling artists, who are played on Apple Music to get more money in their pockets than what they would have before. So Calvin was right about that part of the argument.

      • Kitten says:

Ah ok that makes sense. Thanks for the info, WinnieCoopersMom.

      • Artemis says:

Spotify and Apple don’t decide on the percentage of royalties. Labels do. Which is why Jay with Tidal and Swift with her crusade aren’t doing jack shit for the industry because their labels’ involvement are NEVER addressed.

    • funcakes says:

This is definitely crap to be left in the school yards.

  8. Naddie says:

Zayn is a jerk, surprise. I really don’t get why some of the ladies here swoon over thim. I think his douche level are compared to Miles Teller’s.

    • Leah says:

Calvins a massive douche too. They are pretty much equally in that department. Only difference is the age gap, theres about 10 years between them. Calvin who is 32 should know better.

    • Serenity says:

Agreed. I think Zayn is a complete and utter jerk. Every thing he has done so far since leaving his boy band has been in complete ‘asshole mode’

  9. Jessica says:

I think Calvin comes off way worse. He ranted at Zayn over a retweet (and not even an especially mean one), then massively back-pedaled. He did look foolish jumping in like this because his GF was slighted in the most minor way possible, and then he doesn’t even stick to his guns for a second after being called out on it. Pretty pathetic on both counts.

I can’t wait for the inevitable break-up. Both Taylor and Calvin have skin as thin as crepe paper, the first time one of them throws even the tiniest bit of shade the other’s going to freak out. Taylor’s never really experienced that before, even John Mayer didn’t bite when she was throwing constant shade at him. But Calvin will fight back. It’s gonna be hilarious.

    • Lilian says:

I agree, it’s going to be epic. Of course when he does do something after the breakup, he is going to be anti feminism(feminism means worshipping Taylor right???)

    • Anna says:

I, for one, can not WAIT until they break up. It’s going to give me life.

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Welll..Mayer did write ‘Paper Dolls’ in response to her ‘Dear John’..and that was pretty shady.

      • Priya says:

John Mayer is so gross. Every time I read about him, it makes me want to take a couple of burning hot showers. He’s such a whiny, self-centered manbaby.

    • Guest112 says:

      totally agree!

  10. Franca says:

I’m pretty sure Taylor and Calvin will get married at some point. She never had a boyfriend who was an equal famewhore. They’re meant for eachother.

  11. pleaseicu says:

I think it’s even more interesting that Zayn has never once had a problem with Taylor, even done covers of her songs, tweeted her lyrics…until 36 hours after Taylor invited and performed with Little Mix/Perrie as a special guest at her concert on Saturday night.

This is the second time in like 3 days the guy has involved himself in pitting women against each other. Both times involved his ex or someone who supported his ex/her group.

Could he be declaring that he’s made enough that he can now make #realmusic without fear of sales? Sure, maybe. Though I doubt his brand new label where he’s yet to record a damn single will appreciate that. Still a dick move to use a text pitting two women against each other to make the point. But I doubt it. Zayn’s not that deep.

I think he’s just salty that Little Mix/Perrie are enjoying so much success right now and getting rather positive press in the US while Zayn’s been getting some mocking/negative press b/c of his actions lately.

    • Ally.M says:

100 per cent agree. I think the timing of the tweet was very interesting. I hope Little Mix make it big in the States and hopefully Perrie will look back in a few years and realise she had a lucky escape.

    • Kitten says:

Yeah I know nothing about him but he comes across as a Bieber-esque dbag here.

    • Hannah says:

Well let’s not pretend little mix haven’t tried to provoke him. They were prancing around in front of the paparazzi with a poster that said ” zayn is irrelevant” last week. That’s about as a direct dig as you can get. Everyone involved in this comes off petty and immature.

      • vilebody says:

@Hannah – Actually, a fan brought that poster and the band addressed it and said something like “We appreciate your support, but not with posters like that.” The picture of a band member with the poster was her taking it away. #teamperrie all the way!

      • pleaseicu says:

        see vilebody’s comment.

You see provoking them. How have they done that? I see her bandmates supporting Perrie after she was publicly humiliated and dumped in a really nasty way.

Perrie has basically only said “I”m fine” in response to any break-up questions. Zayn is the one who dumped this PR mess on her when he dumped her by text as she was starting a US promo tour.
He dumped her, in the most nasty disrespectful way possible. A post-in note break-up would be more personal than what he did. At least that’s handwritten.

If “Zayn’s irrelevant” is the worst that gets tossed around, he’s skating pretty easy. And they didn’t even condone the sign. They addressed it and said they appreciate the support but don’t condone that type of stuff.

He’s really not a victim in any of this. He dumped her. He is the one pitting women against each other. He’s the one taking to twitter with his indirect passive aggressive ish. His own actions started all of this.

    • Hannah says:

      Duplicate comment!

    • vilebody says:

+1 Thank you! I’m surprised Kaiser didn’t mention that Little Mix was featured at one of Taylor’s concerts. It gives enough background to guess that Zayn’s tweet was definitely targeting Taylor.

      • Hannah says:

Yes but then she would have had to include that little mix/perrie has been shading zayn for the past few weeks. Like I said there are no innocents here. Including Calvin. Calvin made it personal first in his tweets. He also swore at zayn unprompted, only when zayn said you misunderstood did he backtrack and play nice. That wasn’t included in the story here.

People also forget that little mix get a lot of attention due to zayn/ one direction and they may to an extent be using this to get press in the U.S.

    • claire says:

He seems like a total douche and determined to burn all his bridges because he’s too big of a narcissist to realize he’s not really that special. He just lucked out to get on Simon Cowell’s promotion train.

    • Priya says:

It’s because no one cares about him anymore, and he, like a number of male “artists,” are jealous of Swift’s enduring popularity and positive press. He seriously hopes to be Swift in his solo career, but he doesn’t have the intelligence or the talent. He’s just a broody ex boybander. He’s going to be like Nick Lachey and his little brother (who apparently still thinks people know that 98 Degrees ever existed).

  12. Lucy2 says:

Ah twitter…where celebrities reveal what emotional age they’re stuck at.

  13. Jane says:

I say let’s put them in the Octagon and let them fight it out.

  14. Talie says:

Calvin made sense, but he’s over 30 — When you’re over 30, you should not be getting in Twitter spats with the young-ins. It’s not a good look.

  15. cynthia says:

Isn’t that the guy who wouldn’t let Rita Ora perform their song when they broke up? Quite immature like Swift. I can’t wait for the breakup

  16. lurker says:

Almost as classy and mature as using the term “pussy-whipped”?

    • Valerie says:

mazohyst – I’m having trouble following this due to the classy language that was used, but since you used ‘talentless’ to describe everyone, Calvin Harris is not talentless. Not an EDM fan but even from an objective standpoint, he has written and produced a number of hits, including writing/co-writing for other artists (“We Found Love” by Rihanna, for instance). When you have that many hits under your belt, it’s not just luck. That’s why it was particularly ironic that Zayn said that he writes his own stuff because Calvin has proven himself repeatedly as a songwriter (and also producer). If you have any doubt, check out his songwriting credits on AllMusic.

ETA: Sorry lurker, I replied in the wrong place.

      • mazohyst says:

@ Valerie: My comment got deleted. I guess it was a bit too mean, but I’m sick of these emotionally stunted babies who think they’re still in hs. Concerning his talent, I think that’s a matter of taste. I think all his stuff (what I have heard so far) sounds similar. :/

      • Valerie says:

@ mazohyst – Understood. I’m personally not a fan either and don’t listen to his music (I’m an indie rock girl), but I do think the guy has talent as he knows how to write songs that will get played on radio, which takes a certain amount of savviness. Now, the state of what actually does make it on the airwaves is another conversation ;).

Actually, Calvin Harris’ best album is his first one called I Created Disco, which never took off in the U.S. It was very 80s-tastic and cheeky and actually was somewhat well-received in the indie world. Then he went more in a more commercial-sounding direction and boom.

      • Hannah says:

        @valerie
Calvin didn’t write his latest song. It was written with the diciples and ina wroldsen. They were left uncredited. If you do a bit of research you will find that Calvin is famous for allegedly taking sole credit on all his songs. His skills are that of producer mainly. His songwriting isn’t that strong. Unlike other big producers like Mark ronson and pharrell he doesn’t acknowledge the other writers by crediting them.

      • FLORC says:

Very True. I often forget about that.
OT : I still see past all the cosmetic procedures he’s had. It’s a face that cannot be unseen.

    • Honeybea says:

      True

    • lurker says:

re: 27. Eeek, sorry, this looks weird. The comment that I was responding to disappeared.

  17. Honeybea says:

Zayn seemed like a sweetheart back in the day. I don’t know a single 1D song but even I’m disappointed that he’s turning out to be a douche!!

  18. littlemissnaughty says:

Twitter is such a blessing for gossip lovers. Not so much for celebrities. You can’t hide your douche on Twitter.

  19. Kiddo says:

    #TeammusicNOTHEAVILYmarketedjingles

  20. funcakes says:

Oh Calvin, turn in your dude card.
Your a multi talented musician over the age of 30 fighting with a boy bander who’s soon to next gig is going to be celebrity big brother.
All for a girl who’s going to write about what a jerk you are after you break up,

  21. grabbyhands says:

It may have been immature, but I don’t mind mind. These two (Swift and Harris aka the most basic, beige couple EVER) have their heads so far up their own asses that they need to be taken down quiet a few notches and get over themselves.

That chick doesn’t do ANYTHING that doesn’t serve her and she makes she everyone knows any time she makes a move that will make her look good in the eyes of the public. You pulled your music off Spotify? Big effing deal. It isn’t like you did it because you are so concerned for the small artists-you did it because you felt like you personally weren’t getting the cut you wanted. Trotting out people at your arena shows is nice, but let’s be honest-it isn’t because of altruism it is because it gets publicity for you, not them.

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

The publicity works both ways..they benefit PR-wise from each other by appearing together. It’s smart.

    • itzblissy says:

You must be mother thersea, i bet all your actions are only beneficial to humanity.

Give me a break. Everyone’s actions are self serving, that fact that her actions benefits other people shouldn’t be overlooked. Hell according to you angelina jolie needs to be shot for all her PR shit cause obviously like taylor she didn’t do all that humanitarian shit for helping people, she is just trying to look good in public.

  22. Ronda says:

I agree that Taylor is over the moon. She always wanted the Quarterback going after guys who offended her maiden honor.

  23. Leah says:

Calm your knickers before dem dentures fall out is the funniest line here, so i have to be team zayn.

Oh and kaiser ,i don’t think Zayn is necessarily saying Calvin is old.
Its well known Calvin had a hollywood makeover to improve his looks in his quest for global super stardom. Including fixing his teeth. Google it.

  24. kri says:

Wow. Two idiots electronically slapping at each other. I’m sure the Tay will reward Calvin with some super lukewarm sex and some freshly baked scones.

  25. MSat says:

I love it when young people use someone’s age as a reason to insult them. Guess what, Zayn? You’re going to be OLD one day too — hopefully you’ll get a little smarter and less full of yourself along the way, but that’s doubtful.

    Tick tock.

  26. Lucy says:

Such BoyDramz wow! And yeah, Team Harry too. I don’t remember him ever petty feuding with anyone, ever.

  27. Halvin Carris says:

I wish they’d bring back celeb death match but instead of using clay “animated” figures have the real celebs show up. Now I’d pay to see that!!!!! Seriously though, someone needs to take away their phone privileges away, pronto… P.S. the comment about writing his own music “may” be directed at Harris’ latest release called “how deep is your love. Harris got top billing but didn’t write OR perform on the track. All he did was produce it (push buttons/turn dials)……

  28. Hannah says:

I don’t know that I agree with Calvin that Taylor sticks up for the guys making music in their bedrooms.First and foremost she and Calvin sticks up for the moneymaking big artists.See tidal.
It’s actually zayn who is making the more empathic argument here, speaking as relatively poor student. What he’s saying is that not everyone can afford to buy music.
A band like radiohead released their last cd free ( pay what you like). There are way mor intelligent and accomplished musicians who don’t subcribe to the Taylor and Calvin ultra capitalist worldview.

  29. Grace says:

Zayn was also dissing Calvin by insinuating that he was acting like a girl (with the knickers comment) .. so jeez, thanks Zayn!

Why is he making so many enemies for himself? Has his team encouraged him to live up to the bad boy image? He dumped his fiancee and his bandmates – what’s his issue?

  30. FingerBinger says:

I have no idea what’s going on or what they’re talking about. I’m truly thankful for that.

  31. FLORC says:

It’s so nice to see Calvin has a sense of humor about his detures falling out.

Calvin is just coming off like a baby. Why engage? If it’s such bs and you’re so above it why? Silly.

  32. lile says:

I didn’t know Calvin fixed his teeth. Lots of people have unfortunate teeth when they are young. A lot of their issues are hereditary. My poor little nephews got their Dad’s teeth and its not pretty. They will have to have a lot of work done to fix them so they don’t get bullied in school. At least that is the hope. Yet here is grown ass man Zayn – or supposed man, who feels the need to belittle people who were not born as ‘perfect’ as he was. First he had to bag on NB weight, now Calvin’s teeth…..what’s next Zayn? Or should I say who’s next? Maybe you want to make fun of someone who wears glasses next, huh?? Or maybe someone in a wheelchair?? What a pompous a-hole. God giveth and God taketh away, Zayn. Remember that.

    • Serenity says:

Honestly, every story coming out about Zayn now is negative and paints a bad picture of him. All his actions thus far just scream ‘douche’!

Guess all his ‘pretty’ was just superficial.

  33. Zaid says:

Ay, Zayn! I can’t defend you anymore. I could arguably understand why you dump someone and hide because of anxiety and stuff. But I can’t defend your childish twitter ways.
At least the crush is fading little by little.

  34. Jonesy says:

My theory is that Taylor was logged in to Calvin’s twitter account, and it was she going after Zayn.

  35. Jessiebes says:

Haha. He defended her in public and got laid.

  36. Anon says:

“refreshing the teen choice award”‘…. oddly, I’ve never forgotten the video or whatever they call those Skype things where TS was leading/pleading with her fans to please head to such and such link…and vote for her to win some “favorite” award. I’ve always wondered if she directs those same young fans/friends to do many things for her like shading other artists.
Swift owes thanks to Max Martin, as do many others.

  37. phlyfiremama says:

    The humanity…

  38. Valerie says:

@ Hannah – that’s a bit of a leap, no? I was talking about his body of work and never said anything about the current single (don’t listen to Pop radio so I had to look it up). So I did do a bit of research as you had suggested… turns out that Calvin doesn’t take any songwriting credits whatsoever on “How Deep Is Your Love.” The songwriting credits for the track are indeed credited to Ina Wroldsen and Disciples. He only has production credits on the track and in interviews he’s freely acknowledged that Disciples sent him the track to check out and he liked it and wanted to collaborate (in a producer sense). Check out Calvin’s songwriting credits on ASCAP if you want to double check – you’ll see that’s not listed among his many songs he’s written. Which yes, he has co-written or written. Also on ASCAP, you can see that he has co-writing credits on a lot of his collabs, like Ellie Goulding on “Outside” for instance. So it seems like your claims don’t really stand up here.

I’m not an EDM person and I think there are certainly artists who don’t do nearly as much as they get credit for in that genre, but Calvin Harris isn’t really one of them as far as I can tell.

  39. Jenny says:

Ugh zayn was trying to say he wants to make real music now he doesn’t need the money.
That’s been his mantra since he left 1D he’s desperate for cred. I don’t think he comes of well on his twitter his people should real that in because unless his cd is amazing he won’t be succesful if people actively dislike him.
That said, Calvin is a major asshole and extremely vindictive. The amount of people upthread who make it sound as if this was just zayn being a bitch is a bit strange. Calvin was dissing zayn and 1d hard before zayn even responded. The author of this article did not include those tweets. Which makes it seem as if it was just zayn making it personal, however Calvin started it by dissing zayn and 1d.
Another note zayn congratulated 1d on their new singles success. He doesn’t seem to have burnt the bridges with them as some of the commentators in this thread claim. I think it’s possible to leave the band and not be enemies. His grudge seem to be with the music buisness or producers who wouldn’t let him do the kind of music he wants not the other boys in the band. Theres seems to be a lot of anger there.None of them have control over the music. They are just puppets for the. My understanding is that zayn to a lesser degree than the others was able to handle it.
Harry dresses like he thinks he’s in a rock band which is ridiculous considering hes in a manufactured boyband but my guess is that he doesnt really like the music either but Harry is just a lot better at pretending than zayne is.

    • Guest112 says:

!!!! i totally agree with you on many points!!! i also think harry wants out of the band, badly.

  40. Guest112 says:

the opinion on Zayn in this article is juvenile. calling him a moron for defending himself….? right that’s ok. This trivial twitter ish is not a big deal. Everyone in the comments hating on Zayn are just a part of the cluster of ppl that nitpick and look for minuscule bits of zayn to attack. calvin realized he misunderstood and practically apologized. idu why it’s so hard to see that and move on.

Open your eyes people; zayn literally just chills on twitter nowadays tweeting memes, studio updates and etc. the fact that he was minding his own business and then calvin came in ridiculously, is just so stupid. and the fact that zayn is getting hate for this is even more stupid ESPECIALLY when calvin was the one to start it.
