Here’s the trailer for Victor Frankenstein. Um, is it okay to be sort of disappointed in James McAvoy for this mess? [Seriously OMG WTF]

I’m getting a bit of a Sherlock ( the one with RDj and Jude Law) feel from this. It looks kind of fun, so I might see it.

  2. Abbott says:

I dunno, Victor Frankenstein looks like intensely true interpretation of the unimaginable terror–OOOoooh MAD MAX DELETED SCENES!!

  3. Mia4S says:

    Oh….my…..but still love you James!!

It kills me that Mad Max may not have made enough for a sequel. You suck movie-going public!!!

  4. Sarah says:

It’s only being bashed basically because the cast, especially James McAvoy, refuses to kiss media’s ass (fortunately).

  5. WinonaRyder says:

The UK trailer of Victor Frankenstein is much better. Fox seems to be going for the lowest denominator for the US audience.

    • ichsi says:

Completely agree. It’s baffling and quite sad how little Fox thinks of their American audience. I’m gonna watch it anyway, if not for McAvoy alone then for McAvoy and Scott together.

  6. Alyce says:

I have a forever crush on McAvoy and a weird but ongoing crush on Daniel Radcliff (based 80% on the fact that he’s Harry Potter and 20% on his obvious wit & charm.) And I still don’t want to see that movie. It looks terrible. 😭

    • Kalypso says:

My crush on McAvoy kind of disappeared when watching this… My favourite part of this mess was actually the few seconds of Moriarty (Andrew Scott as Turpin) – I missed you! More Moriarty, less of Dan’s wierd hair!

  7. ds says:

I’m on my phone so I’m not sure if I missed something on that Wondereall list but I need to add the name of Aidan Turner. Have you seen Poldark? Guy has such a strong eye contact game that I’m even willing to forgett he played a dwarf in Hobbit. Way better than Dragonfly snooze or Cucumberman.

  8. littlestar says:

    Ugh that looks friggin’ horrible!

But I’ll still go watch it because Frankenstein is one of my favourite books ever.

  9. mia girl says:

No, no, no. NO ONE is raining on my McAvoy parade.
Not even a stupid trailer. I’d watch this man eat paper and love it.
    I’ll sit through this gladly.

EDIT – WinnonaRyder up thread is right. UK trailer is better. And not campy. So weird how the two trailers are so different.

    • NUTBALLS says:

I don’t care what anyone says, The Mac with a side of DanRad and Moriarty will put my bum in a center seat. Don’t care what the movie’s about. I need MOAR JAMES!

  10. EN says:

Looks bad. James McAvoy is one of these people whose looks just don’t match his personality at all. He is much more attractive when they don’t let his true personality seep through in a movie. Another one is Robert Redford.

    • Joanne says:

WTF, what’s wrong with James’s personality? He’s super smart and adorable. And he’s a great actor, good enough to hide his true personality while playing a character.

      • EN says:

Nothing is wrong, I just don’t like his personality. Too down to Earth for my taste, but his looks are dreamy. They don’t match.

      • Joanne says:

        “Too down to Earth”.

That’s the first time I see someone who thinks being down to Earth is a bad thing… smh…

      • Ray says:

EN is a fan of Alicia Vikander, so I can understand why she dislikes actors who are “too down to earth”, she prefers thirsty/media whores.

      • EN says:

Lol, yes, I like ambitious people. A talent with no ambition ( and hard work) is nothing, nobody knows it, nobody sees it .
But I don’t dislike him, it is more of an indifference and some regret because if he had more ambition he’d be far more successful.

      • Joanne says:

What’s wrong with you, EN? Let the man be. He’s amazing the way he is. He’s the new Gary Oldman to me.

  11. Betha says:

Looks a bit campy. A+ cast though. Is that Moriarty from Sherlock I spy?

  12. Mitchie says:

I’m not understanding this being labeled a mess. It looks good, the other trailer looks better, but both look good. How many versions of this story have we seen? Shall we see the same thing redone to the point when we start blaming Mary Shelley, or enjoy a different interpretation. Love Andrew Scott.
I watched that new Meryl Streep trailer here with the header of her getting an oscar, and I just had to roll my eyes. It was a premise we’ve seen time and time again, and done the same way we’ve seen time and again. Unless she’s been eating her oscars, she not made of gold. Just a little perspective, I guess is what I’m trying to convey.

    • Mia4S says:

I know what you mean about it being the same story again…and again. I’m already hating the new King Arthur and new Robin Hood that they’re doing. Good names involved but I just do not and cannot bring myself to care anymore!! Ugh!!

  13. JWQ says:

This movie has some seriously awesome people. Radcliffe, McAvoy and Scott. I’ m not a big fan of Harry Potter, and I don’ t think Radcliffe is that amazing as an actor, but I have seen interviews of him and he is lovely and funny! McAvoy and Scott are really good, and seem such nice men as well!

As for the movie, I am a sucker for that steampunk/victorian feel. Even if the movie is terrible I still watch it and at least enjoy the visuals. We’ re talking about a person who watched I, Frankenstein. I didn’ t like it, but I watched it in its entirety!

  14. melior says:

Who else likes Frankenstein’s character from Penny Dreadful? I just love the melancholic poetic twist of this show.

    • PixieWitch says:

he’s funny. he’s like a whiny goth teenager.

    • Mitchie says:

Me, I love his character, although a little turned off when he laid hands on Lily whilst submerged in water. And may I ask, how did she not go through water bloat? I can’t take a shower without asking, “what’s going on? How did I get this big?”

      • SallyTomato says:

I am way too late to participate but you had me at water bloat. That’s me after getting out of the communal pool. And now that I know what it consists of, I may want to stay away…

  15. Dulcinea says:

It looks campy but James + Andrew Scott? I will go see it 🙂

  16. InvaderTak says:

I’ll take Josh Groban being cute over mcavoy today. The voice. Dear god the voice. …

  17. Camille (The Original) says:

Looks fun, will definitely see this (even if it turns out to be terrible).

  18. Cris says:

Why the McAvoy bashing, and based on a few minutes of a film you haven’t even seen yet?

James is constantly underrated and deserves to be in more films. If he chose to be in that one, I’ll watch it. And watch it. Repeatedly.

  19. WallFlower says:

I love the Mac! He can do no wrong in my eyes although I’m not exactly digging the shaved head though. It’s not James and Dan’s fault that the trailer doesn’t look as appealing as it should. Quite frankly, Fox has a problem with saleing movies based on their trailers. Fox didn’t do a good job salting Fantastic Four either. That trailer sort of sucked too. I love the Mac and can’t wait to see him in this movie.

  20. betsy says:

The acting from the cast seems very heavy handed.

  21. emma says:

    Moriarty! Don’t trust him!!!

  22. LAK says:

    He looks surprisingly good bald.
