Justin Theroux: It’s ‘nice’ to ‘see a new piece of jewelry on my finger’

The Emotive Eyebrow speaks! Justin Theroux is finally a married man, after what turned out to be a three-year engagement. Not only did he propose to Jennifer Aniston on his birthday (in August 2012) but he also married Aniston on what was supposed to be his birthday party in Bel Air. Since the surprise wedding several weeks ago, Justin has been quiet. Justin and Jennifer went on a group honeymoon to Bora Bora, then Justin cut the honeymoon short by flying back to Texas, where he had to finish filming on The Leftovers Season 2. Season 2 premieres next month, so of course Justin is doing some advanced promotion. Which might explain why People Magazine makes their readers sit through several paragraphs about The Leftovers before they give us Justin’s quotes about his wedding and being a married man now.

There are big changes in store for season 2 of the HBO series, The Leftovers. Besides the characters’ move from Stapleton, New York, to a small town in eastern Texas, star Justin Theroux is now a married man. The actor wed Jennifer Aniston in a secret ceremony at their home in Los Angeles on Aug. 5 before spending their honeymoon in Bora Bora. Returning to set in Austin, the cast and crew “gave me a big cheer so it was wonderful,” Theroux tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue.

Following a global cataclysm in which 140 million people disappeared without a trace, Theroux’s character must navigate through a new world of those who were left behind. Season 2 shifts the story to a small town in Texas where “something miraculous occurred,” he says. “It’s a town that’s literally bordered by a fence. For my character and his insta-family, it’s a fresh start. But it boxes them in – in a weird and wonderful way.”

Despite the intense story lines, Theroux, 44, says there are frequent moments of levity on set with costars including Amy Brenneman, Liv Tyler and Regina King. “It’s like a family. You have to keep it light. When the work has to be done, the work has to be done, but if you don’t keep it a little light at times, everyone’s going to be miserable,” he says, laughing. “It’s not a space you want to live in when a camera isn’t rolling.”

So what’s it like playing a police chief in a post-apocalyptic world? “It’s a tough character,” he says. “Every time you get a new script, it’s like, ‘Oh boy, it’s going to go here.’ The walls to his struggles are high, but I enjoy it.”

As for his new role of husband, “it does feel different,” he says of his marriage to Aniston, 46. But in a really good way. “I’m very happy,” Theroux adds. “It’s nice to be able to look down and see a new piece of jewelry on my finger.”

[From People]

That’s it. That’s all we get. It feels “different.” He’s “very happy.” He thinks it’s “nice” to have a “new piece of jewelry.” Justin, come on! Give up the goods! He’s probably saving better quotes for the real promotional trail, or maybe a more prestigious outlet, like New York Magazine or something.

Incidentally, The Leftovers got completely shut out of the Emmys. I think it was always a pipedream for Justin to get a nomination, but I’m sort of surprised that no one from the show got nominated for anything. Just goes to show you – a lot of people hate Damon Lindelof (for good reason). What I’m saying is that Justin probably won’t be going to the Emmys this year, not even to present. Which is sad, because I would love to see what Jennifer Aniston would wear to the Emmys after all of these years trying to separate herself from TV. Alas, it is not to be.

this photo of him is ridiculous lmao. the whole quote about the marriage is nice, but the piece of jewelry is odd is as ridiculous as this pic.

Ok so, I’m one of the few around these parts that watched AND liked the first season of the Leftovers…and yes, there were performances that definitely could have been nominated for Emmys, but above all, Carrie Coon should have been nominated. She is amazing.

PS For those who may are wondering, Theroux’s character has yet to be seen in jorts.

    • Luca76 says:

Carrie Coon should have been nominated. The performances were so much better than the writing which was so self important and pretentious but Coon really elevated every scene she was in. I’m going to watch this again mostly because of her (though I’m betting this is their last season).

    • Jenns says:

I really liked it too. And I think Justin does a great job with his character. Damon Lindelof is awful, but he did a good job in the beginning of Lost with the characters and the flashback.

    • Elisha says:

I watched and loved TL too, I actually take issue with People calling it “post apocalyptic” because something like 1% of the population up and disappearing doesn’t seem so apocalyptic. TWD is one of my other faves and it has apocalypse nailed down, so.

I was also one of the few who HATED seeing JT’s greasy skeezey junk flopping around in his sweats, he just does not do it for me.

I was also a LOSTIE, can anyone tell me why Damon was so hated?

    • Willow says:

Yes-Carrie Coon should have been nominated. The show itself was okay/pretty good but she was awesome.

  3. meme says:

I like them together and I bet they stay together a long time.

    • MrsBPitt says:

I agree….they both seem to let each other do their own thing, then get together to take vacations! Sounds perfect!

    • Ronnie says:

Of course they will “stay together” for a long time. They thrive on being apart doing their own thing.

  4. Aussie girl says:

That raised eye brow!!!! He loves this look, it completely his signature pose. Do you think he practices in the mirror..? It looks like he has them lightly shaped/plucked as well.

I’m having Nanny O withdrawal symptoms – I haven’t seen anything at all online about her since she was papped walking to her Soul Cycle class. I wonder what she’s up to …?

Re this article … I really feel sorry for Justin’s ex-girlfriend – she was with him for SO many years; him committing to Jennifer must feel like a kick in the teeth for her.

I’m not a fan of Jennifer – she comes across as being possessive and a bit desperate. And I’m definitely not in awe of her work. That said, I do like the way she chooses to keep special moments like her wedding under wraps – and Cameron and Benji for that reason too – she could’ve made millions selling the photos but chose to keep the occasion just for them which speaks volumes.

  6. EM says:

So marriage to him is a new piece of jewellery on his finger.
I think they’re made for each other. Vapid x 2.

  7. canadiangirl says:

Pretentious and boring. Sorry.. just so ugh

  8. Nancy says:

I always thought he was kind of cute in a not so conventional way. Since he likes his new jewelry (a wedding ring…what?) so much, maybe now he can take off that ridiculous gun he wears around his neck. His business of course, but the guy is like 45ish…bang bang

  9. Izzy says:

I will NEVER forgive Damon Lindelof for his butcher job of the Prometheus script.

    That’s all I got.

  10. Saywhatwhen says:

Gah!! The metro-manscaping is too much with this one.

  11. Thea says:

This man was soo good looking when he was with Heidi.

Now he just looks plastic, too hollywood and too vain.

However I do like this couple together – both seems to want the same thing.

As for the wedding details – there is a rumour that Rolling Stones will release them next month. Since its Terry Richardson who took the pictures, I will not buy the magazine.

    PS: there was an article about how Jennifer paid for the wedding and the honeymoon as well. I remember there was a big issue when people critized Keira Knightly’s husband for earning less than her so I was wondering what people will say to this;

    • Nancy says:

I disagree. He always looked so unkept with Heidi Bivens. He had the thick sideburns and always some sort of knit hat on his head. It was five years ago, and I think they were supposed to be some sort of the NY chic or something. Obviously it didn’t work. I did, however, like his indie movies back then. Something about Heidi, it’s like she’s afraid of her shadow, always has that look of gloom on her face, but that too may be her New York cool thing, idk. I do know I like the Aniston and Justin pairing better and obviously he does too. I’m sure Heidi found herself a nice starving artist in Soho!

      • Elisha says:

I also disagree–he was the definition of NYC hipster douche with Heidi, to the point he looked like he was wearing costumes.

      • Neah23 says:

How is that different from the costumes he wears now? He still dresses like a definition of NYC hipster douche, he just add the orange tan and became overly groomed.😂😂😂😂

Way to put down Heidi to make Jen look better.

  12. jm says:

I have never heard of him…I never watched most of the stuff he was involved with…why do people hate him?

  13. Vampi says:

    He looks skeevy.
She dun goofed. This will not last. However….
She can never…or at least for a loooonngg time…seperate from him bacuase of all the build up. Girl gonna drown in eyebrow grease and jorts jumping out of the closet till the end of times.

  14. ashley says:

I love them together,i was watching wanderlust last night with both of them in it,movie was hilarious. I hope they last.

    • JulieM says:

I agree, Ashley. I was never a big Jen fan as far as her acting was concerned, but I really enjoyed Wanderlust . Comedy is harder to do than drama and I think she’s more talented than people around here want to believe because they dislike her so much. I like these two together and I hope they last too.

  15. TOPgirl says:

NO mention of how happy he is to marry the “woman of his dreams.” I doubt this marriage will last, he’ll probably leave her for someone else like he did to his ex.

    • Nancy says:

I think that story has pretty much been played out. If he hadn’t married that woman after all those years together, it wasn’t going to happen. It’s been years now and I’m sure she’s moved on by now. She should be grateful he left instead of living a lie. On the contrary to your opinion, I think Jennifer and Justin will last. It’s different the second time around like they say. You’ve lived longer and learned more and don’t have those fantasies of marriage that you may have had earlier in life. Good for them.

  16. kri says:

I want SO BAAAAAAAAAAAAD for Stephen Colbert to do a Theroux skit on SNL. He is the ONLY one capable of dealing with the eyebrow sitch and doing it justice. Sweet lord, make this happen.
