Jennifer Aniston probably wore an off-the-rack wedding dress & J.Crew veil

Did you realize that Jennifer Aniston rarely wears all-white? It’s true. She’s sort of famous for her (over)reliance on little black dresses, but even when she steps out of LBD box, she usually goes for some muted neutral and never a simple white dress. So this photo (above) is from a 2010 photocall she did in Spain for Bounty Hunter. She wore a simple white sheath and she looked pretty good. I’m choosing to believe that her wedding dress was this simple too. We’ve heard such varied reports on what she wore for her Bel Air-backyard wedding, but Howard Stern did say that her dress was short. Now Us Weekly claims that Jennifer just went to a store to buy her dress and she topped it off with a simple veil from J. Crew.

She truly is just like Us! We all know that Jennifer Aniston married her longtime beau, Justin Theroux, in a surprise wedding at their luxurious Bel Air mansion on Wednesday, Aug. 5. But one thing we didn’t know: The bride wore a veil from J.Crew!

The Friends alum, 46, who’s graced the most glorious red carpets wearing luxurious styles by Versace, John Galliano, and Saint Laurent, topped her knee-length frock with a veil from the popular chain store (whose veils typically sell for about $200).

Plus, the little white dress in question wasn’t super high-end, either. “Jen bought her dress at a store,” an Aniston insider shared. “It wasn’t thousands of dollars.” The bride finished her ensemble with a wide, diamond-studded wedding band, designed by her good friend Jennifer Meyer, who also crafted the groom’s bling.

And the casual ‘tude didn’t stop there. As a source shared with Us Weekly, “Their dogs were the ring bearers!” There was even a photo booth, where some from their guest list, which included Emily Blunt, Ellen DeGeneres, and Maid of Honor Courteney Cox, snuck inside to take racy snaps—including the newlyweds!

[From Us Weekly]

Of course their dogs were ringbearers. Of course! As for the J. Crew veil…you can see J.Crew’s online veil and headpiece section here. It doesn’t seem like Jennifer would have had many choices? She either chose the short point d’esprit veil (which looks really cheap) or the single-layer veil that would have fallen down to her thigh, or the full-length veil. My guess is the mid-length one at $120. Veiling on the cheap! Anyway, I kind of like that Jennifer didn’t make a big deal about the dress and veil and everything. I’ll admit it – I’m still interested in seeing photos from the wedding. Just one wedding portrait, please?

Meanwhile, Jennifer just arrived in Atlanta to work on Gary Marshall’s Mother’s Daygo here to see some photos. Seriously though, Marshall is going to run out of holidays to exploit with his terrible rom-coms. Although I would love it if Richard Curtis took the piss out of Marshall and did a British rom-com ensemble, Boxing Day. Or St. George’s Day, starring Hugh Grant, Idris Elba, Maggie Smith, Keira Knightley and Jason Statham (sh-t, I would watch that).

She’s got some meaty paws, doesn’t she!?

  2. Imo says:

If true this is awesome. My sister’s wedding was very pinterest and turned out to be breathtaking. Dropping tens of thousands on a wedding seems a bit much to me, anyway. Of course, going totally cheap seems disrespectful to family and friends as well, so…mazel tov.

  3. Thea says:

Or the plain truth is that no famous designer wanted to design her dress. I have yet to see a designer acknowledge either on Twitter, Facebook or via media that Jennifer wore their design. Even her Versace Oscar dress was not custom made for her and Versace was completely silent during the Oscar red carpet and afterwards.

But yes – she looks good in white (when she is not overly tanned).

Cute that her dogs were involved but I don’t buy the excuse of having the wedding in LA was because she couldn’t travel with her dogs. She could easily have travelled anywhere with them as long as she has permission.

I would watch Richard Curtis’s Boxing Day or St. George’s Day as well. We need updates on all the Love Actually characters. Is Andrew Lincoln still pining for Keira? Did Chewetal ever find out? How is Bill Nighy’s music career going? Did Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson manage to repair their marriage? Did Colin Firth learn Portuguese?

  5. Kate says:

That seems right. I don’t know why people kept trying to make up stories about her wearing these princessy gowns. She wore a very simple gown for her first wedding, her taste hasn’t changed since then, and the pictures and details of this wedding made it clear it was a casual event.

  6. Jenni says:

Jen keeps it classy. I’m glad there was no People cover and usual celeb wedding attention whoring. You go girl.

  7. emmyb1608 says:

She looks great in that first photo… Until you scan down to her veiny feet! Yikes!

  8. Rex says:

Why so many tid bits about this wedding. Just reveal the dress/pictures or shut up.

  9. Kaye says:

There’s not a lot a person can change about the shape of her hands. JA’s are smooth and she has a nice manicure. What more can you ask?

  10. K says:

It’s her second wedding, she is 46 not 26 and the wedding sounds small. This sounds realistic don’t get why she would have a veil, but I don’t understand why anyone wants one. Jen did the big perfect over the top wedding and look how that worked out she might actually just want the marriage this time.

    • Chinoiserie says:

I looked the veils from the link and they looked nice but I like veils. I a tually think they look better with simple dresses than princess ones. And where else you get the opportinity to wear one but your wedding?

      • K says:

I’m not a big veil person but they can be pretty.

And thank you @amy that is what I meant that all Jen cares about this time is the marriage not that her previous wedding size had any impact on the success but she had the wedding so who cares now she wants a marriage and that’s it really.

    • Imo says:

Yes, her first marriage ended because she had an over the top wedding? Really?

      • Rex says:

I think she meant she was only interested in a fancy wedding not the marriage.

      • Amy Tennant says:

I didn’t get either implication, about only caring about wedding or wedding causing marriage failure. If anything, the implication might be that a big wedding does not guarantee a happy marriage, but that’s completely different from the other situations.
A lot of people go smaller with subsequent weddings, especially if they had a big to-do the first time around. Tradition (which is sexist and problematic, but that’s another fight for another day) would have the bride wearing a color other than white and no veil, since she’s not wrapped up like a shiny new present anymore. (I think wear what you want whatever number of wedding it is).
Jenn maybe should wear white more often, especially because she likes to be tan! I prefer the alabaster aesthetic, but a tan looks fantastic with a white outfit.

      • Camille (The Original) says:

It was a ‘starter marriage’ for them both (BP/JA), I don’t know why people still harp on about it. Both parties have long ago moved on.

  11. lucy2 says:

2nd marriage, back yard wedding – a simple, not too expensive dress makes sense.

  12. kibbles says:

You have to admit she’s aged well and it’s not just because she is fit, but she was smart not to overdo it with Botox and fillers like her friend Courtney Cox. It’s probably also her good Greek genes that have helped her look youthful, like John Stamos.

  13. It'sJustBlanche says:

i’ve never really liked her. I’m not sure why, it’s just one of those irrational things that you sometimes get towards an actor. Maybe it’s because her acting technique seems to center around her nipples. Like, hey I can’t act but look at these nipples! Anyway, having said that I always thought she was well dressed and had gorgeous skin and hair. Unfortunately for her, all that tanning has started to catch up with her.

  14. Nessa says:

No matter who you are, or how much money you have, your hands always give away your age. There is nothing you can do about it!

  15. mkyarwood says:

I wore an under $100 dress from J Crew for my wedding. They have a great bridal selection!

  16. perplexed says:

I’d watch St. George’s Day. I want to see that movie!

  17. AmyB says:

Like some other people commented, her first wedding was over the top costing millions. Lots of people scale back for a second wedding and that seems in good taste. I would still love to see a picture of her in her dress, but if she does not want to release it, that’s her pejorative. I am glad she pulled off this wedding without notice to the press. Must be exhausting for some celebrities (but I am sure the millions and millions of dollars they make kind of makes up for it, no?) ;-)

    • boredblond says:

An extravagant wedding early in a Hollywood career (or one that needs reviving) is more about the story and using the moment to keep your name out there so it made sense for their pr people the first time around. I think keeping it private this time shows she has matured, doesn’t feel so needy to get good press, and shows definite class. I have more respect for her for not selling the occasion out (and for Cake).

  18. Dirty Martini says:

I’m always perplexed at some of the posts on JA items…..she seems to bring out the claws in some and the hearts/flowers in others……and I just *yawn* find her too boring to elicit any real reaction one way or the other.

  19. Kate says:

Didn’t she only ever release that one close-up photo of her wedding to Brad Pitt? (I might be wrong on that.) If so, we might never see the dress. This makes me sad. I don’t care that much about Jennifer Aniston, but I do enjoy ogling celebrity wedding photos.

  20. bree says:

Now they are back to spending time apart, no wonder they are still together.

People mag said they thrive on being apart, how romantic.

The reaction to this wedding is a big yawn from most, most people still have no clue who Justin is.

  21. iheartgossip says:

Gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh she is so thirsty. Hey Jenni-Poo; you’re much too old to be strollin’ the pap highway. And before a Stan comes in to correct me; I realize it’s her PR machine, but she has the say so for what is ‘leaked’. Take a vaca Jenny -Poo

  22. TW says:

Remember when Sharon Stone wore a simple black Guess top with a long skirt to the Oscars? Fashion reviewers catapulted her as the toast of the town for assembling that great look without an extravagant price tag.

  23. Did Jen register the marriage at the County Recorders office? (I like receipts)

  24. LAK says:

That wasn’t so hard, was it Jen? All the talk about weddings and timings when a back garden simple wedding was all you needed to do.

  25. JudyK says:

WHY is she wearing platforms with that white dress…they are so out.

Even the Kardashians know that and have for the last couple of years.
