People Magazine’s annual Best Dressed list issue will probably come out after the Emmys – that’s when it usually comes out, if memory serves. I haven’t seen the numbers, but I would imagine People’s Best Dressed issue is one of the best-selling issues of the year. I know I always looked forward to it in the past, especially to see who People Mag considered to be their “best dressed,” and by extension, who middle-America considered to be the best dressed. And these days, Us Weekly is doing their own version, not surprisingly just weeks ahead of People Mag’s issue. Us Weekly isn’t interested in just doing a list for middle-America though. Their best dressed cover girl is… Cate Blanchett?! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? The list, in order:

The list is… not bad. I mean, we could debate several of those women, but I have to give props to Us Weekly for daring to put Blanchett at #1 instead of, say, a more mom-friendly choice like Jennifer Aniston. My biggest debates: one, Kate Hudson does not belong on this or any list. Her boho thing is over and her attempts at “glam” usually fall flat. Secondly, I question Jamie Chung’s position on this list because… who ever really cares about Jamie Chung or her style? But Blanchett, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Lupita, Angelina, even Swifty and Keira Knightley… I have no problems with any of them because I’m always excited to see what they’re wearing. I do think Amal Clooney should be on the list because she’s interesting to watch, even if we hate a lot of what she wears.

I totally confused Jamie Chung with Alexa Chung–so I have no clue who she is.
Kate Hudson always looks like she’s trying WAY too hard, or thinks she’s the most gorgeous thing there, when she’s wearing an ugly dress. She always poses really hard too. Like girl…you know you can’t even play second string to Owen Wilson anymore…….and THAT’S sad.
Angelina–I hate hate hate hate her flats. I don’t get it. My little sister loves flats too. I think they are so unflattering. But I liked the majority of what she wore for the press for “Maleficent”, and then for “Unbroken” (even though that white, Ralph and Russo dress was a bit matronly, but I thought it was very pretty), plus the undone tuxedo look at the BAFTAs last year?? I just don’t think she’s an icon….I think she goes for classic, simple looks.
They should just do best fashion moments or whatever. Because the only two people I think would be known for their fashion (to me) would be Dita von Teese and Diane Kruger.
Now with Alexa Chung I would agree. She has amazing style. Emma Stone should have been on the list too.
Angelina hasn’t really been to any RC pubic events since early January maybe. So how is she here. Jamie Chung? Really… or Kate Hudson, from what Wimbledon. This list seems bogus.
Rihanna shouldn’t be on here. I love her, but her fashion choices have been TERRIBLE this year. The myth of “Rihanna could wear anything, and still look good” got to her head. I feel like after she got that Fashion Icon award last year, she stopped giving a shit.

I don’t agree with most of this list. Cate – sure. Keira should be second, she looks different and looks amazing most of the time ( minus the dress she wore to the Globes this year, that was awful). I would even agree with Victoria who look very elegant and put together, even if she doesn’t look all that exciting.
But others? No way. Angelina dresses so boringly, Lupita is more miss than hit, especially this year and the rest aren’t even worth a mention.
I think Keira should be first, she really brought it this award season, then Cate and I don’t like any of the others. Carey Mulligan has her own style and look good most of the time, I’d love to see her on the list.
Chung and Hudson should not be here. I agree about the rest but Angelina’s style is not that special. I am glad my girl Keira is here since she has unique style that works. But she should do something to her hair. I would add Emma Stone and Fan Bingbing maybe.
Cate and Angelina are the only two I agree with even though Cate wears a lot of fug, she always looks elegant. The rest of the list is absurd.

i saw a lot of Gugu Mbatha Raw when she was promoting Belle and I think her dresses and hair and makeup were always on point. I remember being so happy to see them.

Agree with most of the list but not Kate. I still adore Keira but her pregnancy fashion was horrendous, maybe she will do better now?
I know people dislike Angie’s style and dismiss it as boring – I love it because she dresses for herself and the way she likes, and what she wears is simple and elegant and fits well.
Cate is always fabulous. Much as I want to dislike her for some of her statements and working with Allen, she is super stylish.
If you don’t watch Once Upon a Time and where she played Mulan, you wouldn’t know Jamie but she actually is in lots of things, just hasn’t had a huge break yet. She is generally well dressed in the youthful, starlet style – looks great on her.
Lupita is totally hit or miss, but I love that she takes chances and brings on the colour. Sometimes she looks great, sometimes fig, but never boring.
Gwen – really?? I always feel like her clothes are a caricature of her concert style.
I like Swifty and I love her clothes. If I were 25 and had her figure and money, that’s what I would wear (except the VMA outfit, yikes.)
I have mixed feelings about Riri. She can totally bring the drama, but OTOH pyjamas on the street and the naked netting with a few crystals look has been so done to death I can’t give any fashion creed to someone who has worn that.
I think charlotte casiraghi has lovely style.. sometimes a bit off, but she is so gorgeous she can pull anything off
Char is probably one of the most gorgeous women alive, yet she lacks her mother elegance and poise, not to mention she has a god awful posture.
I feel like the people who don’t get the list or why certain people are on it are the people who should read people’s middle America friendly list.
Jamie Chung has great style. She belongs on this list since it’s a style list – not an acclaimed actress list or most popular celebrity list. I don’t really understand the hate?
Ok, I’m sorry. I’ve always been SO confused by this. How is Jennifer Aniston a “mom-friendly-choice”? I’ve also seen “mini-van-majority” thrown around on here regarding her. Is she supposed to appeal to moms everywhere or something? Because last I checked, she’s a mini-skirt-loving-margarita-binging chick with NO children. Her life seems awesome, I’ll give you that, but I think more moms are interested in some of the…moms on this list? Even Cate is a mother. I’m…confused. Anyone care to fill me in?
