Azealia Banks calls out Miley, Nicki & Taylor as ‘basic’ & comes for Beyonce

Kayne West

I like this picture of Azealia Banks and Kanye West together so much. The pic was taken back in 2012, but she has since dissed Kanye (along with fat white Americans) and everyone else. She’s a self-defeating mess who likes no one. Even though Azealia recently defended Nicki Minaj, saying that her wax statue was “underhanded shade,” Azealia will still talk trash.

At any given moment, Azealia pops off on Twitter. On Wednesday, she went more epic than usual in a long-winded rant about the proliferation of “basic” music. She starts off by saying, “Miley Cyrus HAS to know her sh*t is whack as f***. It has to be a joke… Isn’t she making fun of herself?” Then Nicki and Taylor get roped in and all of this happened:

Basic, basicer, and basicest! That’s what Azealia says, and that’s what she means. The thing is, Azealia is not wrong about all three of these artists’ music. Miley, Taylor, and Nicki are largely based on image, with music a lower priority. But Azealia always says things in a way that alienates anyone who would otherwise support her.

That’s not all (and it never is with Azealia). Things got super messy when someone asked Azealia why she got cut from a Beyonce song in favor of Nicki. Azealia’s response is ohmahhgawd. Watch out for the Beyhive!

Who is this? Also her weave is sad in the first photo. And dry.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

I was wondering the same thing. Who is she and why should I care?

    • Taylor says:

Yes, but it still looks better than most of Rihanna’s weaves.

    • Esteph says:

lol! i need to stop drinking coffee in the morning when i’m reading comments like this. too funny

    • Elisa the I. says:

+1, never heard of her. But she looks very pretty in that b/w dominatrix dress.
and she is right about the basic.

    • Nerdista says:

I actually love AB’s music but I’ve never understood why popular music is considered subpar to less popular music. And especially considering Nicki’s crazy-ass music, Taylor’s excellent writing skills and Miley’s stupid good Dead Petz album that just dropped. Far from Basic. Basic is her reading glasses there.

      • Veronica says:

That’s kind of my feeling. Like, yeah, pop music is basic as shit, but everybody knows that. It’s not meant to be deep – it’s meant to be FUN.

Banks sometimes has some very thoughtful comments on race, but sometimes she just reminds me of what I was like as a teenager – lacking any self awareness about how ridiculous I sound trying to pretend like I understand the world better than anyone else. At least she doesn’t mince her words, though.

    • SGM says:

      she sounds manic.

  2. Luca76 says:

She maybe a mess but she’s 110% correct basic, basic basic.

    • Daisyduck says:

Amen. Those three make terrible excuses for “music”.

      • Nerdista says:

Like all y’all don’t have all these basic albums in your iTunes. Like you know 212 by heart? Please.

      • SK says:

Well Nerdista… Actually for me that is true! I have 212, I know most of the words. I don’t own any Nicki or Miley. I have Shake It Off because it is my nieces’ favourite song and I play it or them through my phone (although, to be compeltely honest, it is a fun song).

But yeah, mainstream pop can still be fun.

I think Azealia has talent but she is really lazy and has a massive attitude problem. She hasn’t lived up to her early promise. She gained a bad rep touring. She jumps on any little excuse for not producing new, good music or doing a full-length, good live performance. She might shade all of these chicks, and I’m more interested in her releases; but she could certainly learn something from all of them in terms of work ethic!

Plus, even when she is making good points (outrageous as they might be!) she ruins it by being too muvh of a snarky bitch.

    • Kitten says:

She’s 100% right and she gets extra points for being entertaining. I don’t agree with her dig at Beyoncé but I still burst out laughing because DAMN. What balls on this chick. LOL

      • Mrs. Darcy says:

I know, no one has the balls to come for Queen Bey, I kind of love it!

      • Bridget says:

“Because I haven’t been taking my skin bleaching pills”

Sure. It definitely didn’t have anything to do with her sparkling personality. Though it is kind of fun to imagine her and Beyonce interacting.

    • QQ says:

And Therein Lies the Shade… in that is NOT a Lie

But yeah her wigs will be snatched for eternity, cause the Beyhive is basically her same constituency… and they STILL don’t let Kerri Hilson have a Life to this day

      • Kitten says:

“her wigs will be snatched for eternity”

        I cannot stop laughing…face hurting…

      • Neah23 says:

Your spot on with the Kerri Hilson remark.

      • QQ says:

Yeah neah, Kerri can say: Today Feels so warm and beautiful on her twitters and in seconds her mentions are shambles and she’s been called everything but a child of god LMFAO

      • Naya says:

Proud member of the beyhive confirming that I never pass up an opportunity to talk smack about that heifer Keri Hilson. She thought she had arrived and began trying to crack on her perceived competition. Well, where you now Keri!? You don’t as a new comer publicly diss established players even if its only Ciara. You don’t even do it as an established super star as Miley learnt this week. Gawd, I dislike Keri Hilson. As for Azealia Banks, she spent yesterday backtracking. Skin bleaching is now no different to black women straightening their hair or wearing blue contacts so her statement according to her wasn’t an insult. She’s also comparing it to white women getting lip plumpers or ass implants. Whateva. Atleast she’s entertaining. That loser Keri Hilson on the other hand can go suck an egg. Bey4life. (None of this is intended to be ironic, I’m not a Hipster)

    • Kasia says:

Yes! Finally someone has spoken the truth.

    • Meowsy says:

Yea but heres the deal with music, basic is in. People who end up at shows like the VMAs are all pretty basic, they want to appeal to everyone. Even if you manage to slide your way into the show by being original, if you want to remain in the spotlight you better become basic.

    • Ysohawt1 says:

Bey looks like her mom, but somehow the haters miss that, her mother is light skin and Beyoncé was always light skin in tone.
Azeala needs to get over herself and stop making excuses.

Azaleas would love to have on 10% of Beyonces career.

Beyoncé can’t help what the public buys, it’s not Beyonces fault that the public took to her.

Azalea-the-bitter can blame skin colour all she wants, but it didn’t hurt Aretha Franklin, Patti Label, Tracy Chapman, Nina Simone and many other wonderful singers.

      • Livealot says:

I was with you until you listed all those talented ass singers that had careers during a time when TALENT>Image. Today it is the other way around and who knows if those artists would have been as successful. That’s what Azealia is referring to. Not Beyoncé’s light skin literally.

    • Emily C. says:

She’s absolutely right. But it’s incredibly rare for anyone who doesn’t make “basic” music to get really big in pop. Because people who actually challenge the status quo are not people whom MTV, of all things, is going to award anything.

  3. Darkladi says:

As my Big Mama used to say “This low rent heifer crazy!”

  4. jinni says:

Well why won’t she put out non-basic music then? Oh, I forgot, she quit making music to become a full-time, professional, social media troll.

    • Kitten says:

She’s actually touring right now, but you’re right about the trolling. She just can’t help herself….

      • jinni says:

Well good for her that she’s working, cause I honestly though she’d given up on putting out any more music. Since all I ever hear about her is that she’s in a beef with [insert artist name] and never about an album.

      • Kitten says:

Yep. It’s too bad that she lets herself be known for her smart mouth instead of her music because this woman is quite talented.

    • Dani says:

She actually has put out recent amazing music. Her music is far from basic. Her attitude is a bit too shitty but her music is great.

    • Ysohawt1 says:

I thought she was a model?

Hating on Bey won’t get her anywhere.

  5. jaye says:

Sometimes I think Azealia does herself no favors, but I admire the fact that she gives zero f**ks.

  6. Lara says:

She constantly speaks sense. She may not be the most graceful person, but her Twitter feed is frequently insightful, smart and funny.

She’s right about this though — Nicki, Taylor and Miley all make basic music (Miley’s just-dropped album arguably less so), and all try to appeal to the blandest middle ground of mainstream audience. Again, Miley’s new stuff maybe less so.

And the Beyoncé thing was pretty funny, to be fair.

    • Mia V. says:

She has many points about things, too bad she delivers in the wrong way. She called Iggy Azalea for bad rapping before everyone else and she is often right about how black women are portrayed on music and culture. And if she has the balls to say it, you go girl.

    • Yabby says:

Truer words have never been spoken!

    • Santia says:

Her delivery sucks. If she toned it down a bit, she has some insightful things to say. I agree that America/the media/the consumers, etc. only buy into a certain aesthetic for black women. And that is light or bi-racial. It’s rare for me to see myself (i.e. the type of black women I grew up with/around – dark skin, tightly coiled hair) in the media. No matter how great her music is, in order for her make bigger waves musically, she really would have to fit into that “look.” It’s enough to make anyone angry, bitter, etc.

      • Ysohawt1 says:

        Aretha Franklin
        PattiLabel
        Tracy Chapman
        GladysKnight

      • Chica says:

        @ Ysohawt1

Seriously? Those are four names out of how many thousands of the light skinned women?

There is a disparity, no matter how little exceptions you want to point out.

      • TheBeautifulNorth says:

        @ Ysohawt1

Don’t try to bring some sense to this subject : ) I’ll add:
Tina Turner, Donna Summer, India Arie. This list could go on and on, like it does if you just google “female black singers”.

  7. SuperMoist says:

Oh good! The photo is from 2012. Looks like her hair game is….improved.

  8. Daisyduck says:

I’m actually with her on the basic comments. Her delivery is terrible, but I totally agree that those three “artists” make terrible “music”. Even though they don’t technically make it/write it/produce it/come up with melodies etc.
I also want to know if Miley is being serious with the songs she releases. They are a poor, poor excuse for music if she is being serious. If someone told me that she’s having a laugh at how she can sell absolute crap to the public I would believe it!

    • Nikki L. says:

Miley and Nicki both wrote most of their current albums, if I’m not mistaken. And Taylor Swift writes a lot of her own music.

  9. Nicole says:

    She’s funny. I like her.

  10. Jess says:

She would kill to have the career of any one of those ladies. The only way she gets attention is tweeting out her racist and hateful comments that nobody asked her for.

    • Josefa says:

I don’t think she really wants a mainstream career tbh. I think Azealia doesn’t pick up these fights to make headlines – I think she’s just another twitter troll, except she’s (kinda) famous and not an anon. I think if what Azealia wanted was a bigger career, she’d start by making more mainstream music.

    • Ysohawt1 says:

She would love to have even 10% of Bey’s career.
      Lol

    • Katija says:

      “her racist and hateful comments”

Thank you for saying this. She has said terribly antisemitic things and just kind of got away with it.

  11. Neelyo says:

I love her music! I wish that was getting the attention.

Broke with Expensive Taste is a great album.

  12. Leah says:

She’s inarticulate but she is not wrong about their music being basic.

  13. word says:

I want to know what she thinks of the Kardashian/Jenner Kult. Please tell us Azealia, we are all ears.

  14. InvaderTak says:

Well, someone had to say it. Is that a dip can ring on Kanye’s shirt? Or are my redneck roots showing again?

    • kri says:

@Invader Tak-he farts in there so that when he can’t put his head up his ass for whatever reason, he can just huff the vapors.

    • sienna says:

lol, looks like one! I bet he paid and extra $500 bucks for the shirt to have that detail, all he had to do, was go into my brother’s closet.

    • Amy Tennant says:

I didn’t notice, but you are 100% spot on! I’d know that circle anywhere!

Also, some people may not like Azealia’s delivery, but she is not wrong, and more people need to listen especially about the skin tone issue.

Also, it’s not as if the people who are asking who she is don’t know how to Google. They are making a point by saying, “Who IS she? We’ve never heard of her.” And honestly, she’s one of many people I wouldn’t know a thing about if it weren’t from this site. That’s not a judgment against her music because I’ve never heard it.

Also, I’m about to google KI or KII

  15. Original T.C. says:

I always took Azealia’s supposedly “defense” of Nicki in Wax-gate as a backhand attack on Nicki’s degrading Anaconda video but she didn’t feel brave enough to attack Nicki herself. She waited for a safe (read: White person) to be the representative of the entire degrading concept and then went for it, pretty much saying “Nicki, you are better than this, get off the all fours, stand on your two feet and become that bada$$ rapper you used to be. These recent tweets from her just confirmed my original feeling. It’s now “safe” to go straight attack on Nicki if even Miley can do it.

    • Josefa says:

I think someone with the balls to say she hates “fat and white Middle America” in a Playboy interview and openly call out Beyoncé on skin bleaching would have no problems with telling Nicki she’s degrading herself.

      • Ysohawt1 says:

Beyoncé skin tone is light , so what . People need to get a grip Bey is light skinned tone and always has been. She looks like her mother.

Azaleas and the Bey haters going after Beyoncé for being a light skin black woman is just ridiculous.

Azaela sounds like she is bitter.

  16. Santia says:

Azealia – you in danger, girl!

  17. Mimz says:

Well, Will someone let me know if 212 was groundbreaking non-basic stuff? It was different, but her lyrics… ……………… yeah. nothing.
The way she defends herself by attacking others is so low ball that I just cant … support her. Maybe that’s why artists don’t want to associate with her. She’s too much of a wildcard. Today she’s praising you, and later tonight she’s calling you her favorite C word who takes skin bleaching pills.

    • Kitten says:

Yeah she’s all over the place. She’ll never make it big in the music biz because she refuses to play the game. I’m torn about her…on one hand the constant beef is tiresome, on the other hand I can’t help but admire her for having no f*cks to give.

Also, I think she’s quite talented.

    • Yabby says:

Her album, Broke with Expensive Taste, was nothing short of brilliant. 212 is an old single, you have to listen to her newer stuff. I love her as an artist because she has always remained true to herself. It’s the reason why she had so many problems with record labels. No one can tell her what to do. I get that her mouth turns people off, but give her music a chance. It’s better than any of the bubble gum trash (nicki, taylor, and miley) they put on the radio.

      • Josefa says:

Yup. And I have to say I kind of admire her trolling ways. She says the exact same thing half the people on the youtube comment section or twitter say, except she does with her face and name for the world to see. She truly has no f*cks to give.

    • Josefa says:

212 is one of her worst songs. Look up the rest of her stuff.

Say what you will about her personality, but as a musician this woman is incredibly talented.

    • kri says:

Well, that was …honest. But yeah, she isn’t wrong about the basicnosity of it all. ‘Skin bleaching tablets”?! Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

    • Cynthia says:

Yep she’s super talented, her album is brilliant. I wish she had a different delivery for her opinions, because I feel like they would made more sense explained in a proper way, albeit they would get less attention.

  18. RG says:

Can’t be down with someone who uses a derogatory term for gay men (starts with f and rhymes with maggot) then defends her use of said word by saying I can’t be a homophobe because I’m bisexual.

    http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2015/07/04/azealia-banks-i-cant-be-homophobic-because-im-bisexual/

For a woman whose trade is in words, she needs to learn better ones.

    • FrenchGirlChi says:

In actuality I have several friends who are bi-sexual and I knew a few gay men who throw that word around. Just like blacks uses the N- Word… Is it right no it isn’t but believe me they do..
Am I allowed to use the F word with my gay male friends yeah but I choose not to do it.

      • Jonathan says:

I most commonly identify myself as an F word (I’m only not using it because I’m unsure if the filter on these boards). Homophobes think it’s the worst thing they can call anyone; it’s not an insult, I love being one. A BIG one. Can’t harm me with that word.

Ms Banks is frequently very, very angry- but about the right things, usually. I really like her.

  19. Rockin Robin says:

I need her to put out some good music then.

  20. lifeisbeautiful says:

I will say this, she is the only artist in music at the moment challenging the corporation bullshti, PC, media friendly norm, and I love her for that. She has said things that I completely disagree with and that are downright homophobic, racist and offensive BUT she is a complete wildcard with very little censorship going on and that is completely refreshing. Prince gave a quote the other day about how the pop music scene was bland and repetitive at the moment, and apart from Banks and one or two others he is completely right. How much more exhilarating would the whole scene be if people weren’t afraid of upsetting the status quo and not making money…

    • Josefa says:

Yeah, that’s why I respect her trolling ways a little. In an era of social media where everyone is afraid of offending people because of the major backlash it means, seeing someone express herself so openly is truly refreshing. And hey, at least she’s not pretending to be sorry about it.

  21. Christina says:

Up until someone wrote it above I really had no clue she was still making music. A friend of mine introduced me to her music a few years ago… It’s not necessarily my cup of tea but for what she does she has talent… But I think she’s ill. Classic narcissist- always has to be a part of the conversation and make it about her no matter what.

  22. KatC says:

Finally someone says something I agree with on this issue. I have no idea who this woman is, but its genuinely nice to see someone point out that all three of these women are trading attention to musical quality, for pretty pictures.

I work in retail and we get Taylor Swift and similar pipped into the store pretty much 24/7. It is astounding to me that anyone chooses to listen to any of these artist’s current offerings.

  23. Tara says:

I can’t stand this person. I think she is a bigot herself. I do agree with her tweets about the girls being basic. Fighting over MTV awards. They haven’t even been cool since 2002.

  24. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Just can’t get down with her.

Too much anger and I think so many of her rants are about personal rage. Like I enjoy someone who’s angry and working to uplift or fight for people but she just seems angry because her whole life has been unfortunate.

Why were you trying to work with Beyonce then if you had these strong beliefs on her skin lightening? If basic really burned your ass then why were you promoting that Gaga single till she dropped you? Because it doesn’t, because you have no firm beliefs or anything you’ll take a stand for, you’d be a bubblegum pop artist if the coins were right and no shade on that…but don’t sell me real if you’re not.

She’s not fighting against the corporate world, she’s mad it doesn’t want her and in her rage she’ll call everyone else every other derogatory term and say it’s her right.

Calling Miley, Nicki, or Taylor basic is just lame. There’s a dozen different ways to criticize or insult all 3 women but basic is a fun and easy slang for the Twitter fans (the only place she still has an audience).

Girl either do better or get thee to a therapist. As my nan says if you meet an asshole at breakfast you’ve had a bad morning, if your whole day is filled with assholes then you’re the problem.

    • Daria Morgendorffer says:

      +1

I explored her Twitter last night and it wasn’t mentioned in this article that Azealia also said she wants to work with Miley. She got called out on how she promotes all these artists and then goes on to bash them and her response was, “because I can help her” and she said she could make her sound less like “Katy Perry leftovers.” So she does all this not only for attention, but in an attempt to further her career and it just isn’t working the way she wants it to. Bitterness is not appealing.

I saw that the majority of the responses she gets from people on Twitter are really negative. Even people who weren’t calling her bitter and angry were saying things like “I love you and want to see you do good, so I wish you would stop acting like this and just focus on your music and your talent.”

There’s also a lot of racial stuff on her Twitter that’s REALLY ugly and unnecessary. Like she really refers to white people as “white devil” and things like that. Why go there? She also refers to black women and white women are “bitches” and calls her fans “kuntz.” It’s all just too much for my taste. She’s obviously really intelligent but definitely does have some personal issues she needs to iron out.

” As my nan says if you meet an asshole at breakfast you’ve had a bad morning, if your whole day is filled with assholes then you’re the problem.” <- I love this!

      • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

        Yeah that’s it.

It sucks because this angry calling everyone out act is pretty much the only thing getting her attention…but it’s not healthy you know? I know Banks, I’ve read multiple interviews where she talks about her childhood and its full of molestation, abuse, and drug addiction. It’s not fun or cute so when I see this anger I see what’s behind it.

I get why she’s praised by some by calling people out but you’re right, there’s such a hollowness to it. One day she’s cursing people down and then later saying how she wants to work with them. You can’t play both sides of the coin Azealia, that two-faced quality is part of why Iggy’s career died as well. Stand firm and have your strong opinions, even if they’re mean I’d support you just having the opinion.

I want her to succeed but she keeps getting in her own way and that disappoints me too much to praise her for. If those are your feelings towards Beyonce then why sign up to work with her at all? Figure out your sound, target audience, and those you respect in the industry and stay true to that. Don’t keep dipping in the Pop Genre and then being mad it doesn’t work out.

  25. KatC says:

Also, I like the way she puts things. Blunt words that don’t need to be explained. She’s not afraid of being misunderstood because she doesn’t give herself any wiggle room. It’s much better than stars that qualify every criticism six different ways in one sentence so that they can turn around later and pretend it was taken out of context etc.

Stand by what you say or shut up.

  26. Jayna says:

She has some some insightful and interesting comments and her I don’t give two f’cks comments like has been said, but she has gone on really hateful trolling rants and disturbing rants.

But this cracked me up. Her funniest tweet about the wax figure with Nicki Minaj on all fours is this:

“Not to drag it on, but even kim kardashians wax figure is standing up and her most iconic moment was when she had a dick in her mouth.”

  27. Daria Morgendorffer says:

Azealia Banks is obviously very intelligent and has many valid points that she regularly makes, but I think perhaps her delivery could use some work. I like some of her songs and have them on my workout playlist on Spotify. I would like to see her do good.

I explored her Twitter last night when I first read her comments on Nicki, Miley and Taylor, and I can’t sit here and say how I totally agree with her and think she’s great because her Twitter is loaded with nasty comments about “white bitches” and other remarks that compare black and white women and pin them against each other. I also noticed that the majority of feedback she gets from those following her is negative. There were loads of comments from people telling her they love her and want to see her thrive so they want her to stop acting like such an angry hateful person.

I personally think she’s already messed up any chances of blowing up as an artist the way she wants to. She is now known for being the person who says all these ballsy things more than she’s known for her career. She’s trolling for attention but it’s backfiring.

This article doesn’t mention the part where she wrote on Twitter that she was taking shots at Miley because she wants to work with her, and she said she could and would help Miley stop sounding like “Katy Perry leftovers.” I also don’t respect her trying to make the fact that she got cut from a Beyonce track an issue of race.

  28. Lucy says:

She reminds me A LOT of Kanye. A seriously talented artist who’ s so unafraid to say what’s on her mind that sometimes can be extremely alienating. She does have a point about the things she says a lot more often than he does, though.

    • Ysohawt1 says:

The difference is Kanye was already a Superstar when he started spouting off in public and even after he STILL has a solid worldwide fan base, no matter how many haters he has, he makes millions upon millions for the musicCorporations.

  29. AlmondJoy says:

She’s such a troubled but talented young woman… I’m very torn when it comes to her.

  30. eleri says:

i can’t believe anyone is talking about her fricking weave. this woman is incredibly talented and has some integrity. she follows the lineage of lauryn hill in terms of ability and originality. her unwillingness to compromise should be lauded. she is not polite and she is not perfect but damn i’d rather her over all the mileys and swifts in the world

    • Yabby says:

Thank you. Some people will always attempt to reduce black women by the way they wear their hair. I almost cried when people went in on the gymnast, Gabby Douglas for wearing her hair in top knot all the time. Even when people talk about Serena’s hair, I get upset. These women are doing things and going places and you want to get your panties in a bunch over the quality of their weave? Shut up and sit tf down.

    • Jay says:

Banks is a disgusting bigot. Her music may be better, but I have a hard time enjoying the music of artists who I know are shitty people.

  31. FingerBinger says:

I love her tweets and quips. However this is all I know her for.

  32. Dawn says:

Never heard of her and obviously I am not the person she would want to know her music let alone buy it.

  33. FrenchGirlChi says:

Some comments made me laugh and almost spit my coffee out.

I can see majority agree her delivery does need some work.
You can be blunt and straightforward but cool down with aggressiveness.
I like her boldness and her music. She is Confrontational but she is also a sweetheart..
I met her once while visiting my family in France and she is quite pleasant

She doesnt have a filter and usually comes as really rude, but she also usually has a point and at least she owns what she says.
Also, anyone who doesn’t kiss beyonce’s *ss has good points in my book

    Pot, meet basic kettle.

LOL, right? “212” is what most people know her from. And they know it because it was used in “SPRING BREAKERS,” the epitome of “basic” film.

She’s got a lot to learn about interpersonal skills and being chill, but I’ve just sampled her album on iTunes and I quite like her music. I’m a dancer and I find her music more danceable than the three she dissed, whose music is easier to run to if you’re in the gym or whatever. AB has definitely got the groove down, some great dubsteppy rhythms, and just rhythms period.

But if I wanted music for a fitness bootcamp or spin class, then, probably Minaj, Swift, Cyrus, Perry, etc. would work better.

  37. JenniferJustice says:

I agree the trio she calls out are all basic in their music, but I think they like it that way. Nikki’s music used to be different and she’s since conformed to more basic accepted main stream style, but I get the feeling she likes the sex-appeal attention and nobody made her bleach her skin. She did that herself because she wanted to. My point is, noone is holding Nikki back. She likes where she is just fine. Tay Tay and Miles, they are shallow and totally caught up in fashion hype more than they are their music. They picture themselves as some kind of model more than they do musicians. They’ve done it to themselves….like they somehow backslid in their priorities and talent.

  38. Luffy says:

She recently broke up with her boyfriend Jesse Bradford so she’s probably pissy-er than normal.

  39. Marianne says:

Funny how a good lot of you were defending Nicki the other day by saying her last album was really good and how she’s a good rapper and now all of sudden you 100% agree with Azealia, that all 3 are basic.

  40. Veronica says:

Her music does nothing for me, but I have to give her credit that she owns what she says.

  41. MSat says:

The only time I ever hear about the person is when she is picking fights with or shitting all over other famous people. So I guess her strategy works?

  42. Emily C. says:

Taylor Swift can’t do anything but “basic”, it’s what got her where she is. Nicki Minaj is capable of so much more, but when she was doing more, she wasn’t as rich or famous as she is now, so I think she knows exactly what she’s doing. Miley Cyrus is a mess, but being a mess (or pretending to be) also propelled her career forward. Pop stars aren’t rewarded for making good music, they’re rewarded for spectacle along with music that works as background for the next video of women’s butts.

  43. TopCat says:

Regardless of her delivery she’s right. They are all basic but trying hard to be brilliant. Banks actually is talented and different but has never quite risen perhaps because she’s outspoken. Ironically it’s okay for Kanye and Eminem to be outspoken but it hasn’t seemed to work in Banks’ favour.
