Taylor Swift is so image-conscious, no one can watch her blow her nose

This is one of the dumbest controversies about Taylor Swift this week. Like, I could understand the conversation about her “Wildest Dreams” video, I could even understand the conversation about “what did Tay-Tay really think about Kanye/Miley/Ariana Grande”? But someone was trolling MTV’s backstage live-feed of the VMAs and they caught Taylor and her people acting slightly odd, and they jumped to the conclusion of “Maybe Taylor Swift Snorted Cocaine Backstage at the VMAs?” You can see the video here at Gawker. Seriously, go and watch it!

It’s pretty clear that Taylor was blowing her nose. I would even suggest that the real conspiracy is that she had a crunchy boog and she really need to dig for it. But even beyond that, the REAL STORY is that Taylor is literally so image-conscious that she was hyper-aware of the fact that she was being recorded backstage and she had her people form a protective circle around her so that she wouldn’t be seen blowing her nose on camera. That’s some next-level image control. THAT says more about her than what she does recreationally. For the record, I doubt she’s doing coke in general. I think she enjoys some wine or some cocktails, but even then, she probably doesn’t partake all that much because alcohol = empty calories. She’s seriously so slender these days.

Now, if you told me Cara Delevingne was getting into something, yeah, I’d believe you.

There was this sketch on MadTV once called “Pretty White Kids With Problems”…

    • Lilian says:

Why didn’t she go to the bathroom to blow her nose? If she wanted privacy.

        lol @ #TooPretty4ThePotty

      • Antonym says:

@Lilian – I do this. It’s a combination of being a germaphobe (nose blowing is super gross to me) and being a little self-conscious, but I NEVER blow my nose in public. If I’m desperate I’ll seek out a restroom. I’ve just always been that way, even as a child. I guess I’m more like Swifty than I’d care to admit 😕.

    • evermore says:

I think she is beautiful, I don’t care how much the press makes fun of her. She is a young , smart, business person, making the most of her years in the music business.

    • Eru says:

That title is kinda racists. and offensive

  2. Frankdiabetes says:

Oy, that’s got to be so exhausting, watching your every move for fear of how it will affect your “image”.

    • Tiffany :) says:

The sad thing is that people WOULD make a big deal out of it if there was ever a photo of Taylor with boogers coming out of her nose. I don’t see this as her being paranoid, I see this as being realistic about how people use images of her.

      • lucy2 says:

Yeah, I wouldn’t want someone snapping a photo of me mid-honk and putting it online either. Can’t say I blame her on this one.

  3. Bobo says:

That’s so crazy. Does she have a group of people circling around her too when she takes a dump?

  4. BooBooLaRue says:

    Boogers? Mind blown.

  5. kimbers says:

I just think she’s has developed undiagnosed paranoid personality disorder and she’ll drive herself insane. Not fun.

  6. Tifygodess says:

Fart Gate was funnier than Booger Gate. A story can be made out of anything I suppose but to have a circle of assistances and friends around you to blow your nose is a bit much. Diva alert? However I totally believe Ms. Swift partakes in the nose candy from time to time and maybe throw some adderall (to also help stay super model thin ) in for good measure. Personally I have always found that the people who want to come across as oh so sweet and oh so perfect are the exact opposite of that image and have quite a bit to hide.

  7. Allie May says:

Ha! Love your observations, Kaiser! Cara is pretty awesome, she’s so real.

  8. Imo says:

I would say this story is ridiculous but knowing Taylor, it’s snot.

  9. swack says:

I had many students over the years that would not blow their nose in the classroom and would ask to step outside to do so. So I don’t find it so unbelievable that she doesn’t want to be seen blowing her nose. Like many stories about all celebs, this one is so blown out of proportion. To me it’s in the category of “Who cares”.

    • Imo says:

You said blown out of proportion.
      All the lols.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I had a co-worker who firmly believed that blowing your nose was something that should only be done in the bathroom, in privacy. She was horrified if she saw someone in the office blow their nose.

I admit I am a little shy about blowing my nose in front of people and avoid doing so, but I don’t think it is in poor taste if people do it around others…as long as it isn’t around food.

    • Mimz says:

Well, I agree with you. I have sinus, asthma, and respiratory shenanigans every effin day of my life. I hate blowing my nose around people, but my nose is blocked/runny many times during the day, EVERYDAY, and I honestly cannot step out to the toilet everytime.
When I stopped caring to stand up and do that, people would look at me so disgusted, but oh well. I cannot go to the toilet every 25 seconds.
      Anyway. Whatever, non-story.

    • Louise177 says:

For me It’s not about blowing her nose in private, it’s that Taylor has people standing around her to do so. If she went to the bathroom or dressing room to do so I doubt anybody would care. But it seems over the top top to have people surround her.

    • supposedtobeworking says:

I hate blowing my nose in public. My mom blows her nose and uses a kleenex to dig in it. Its gross. I’m firmly with Taylor on this one.
Magazines publish pics of celebrities mouth wide open, mis-bite and ridicule the faces. I cannot blame any famous person for trying to avoid pictures that will be shamed.

    • evermore says:

I kind of feel similar, I won’t blow my nose in a closed in group, social setting like dinner parties or class room. I will usually excuse myself and go to the ladies room or bathroom and blow my nose.
My grandmother use to make us excuse ourselves from the dinner table if were were sneezing and go blow our nose in the bathroom, she felt like it was just more sanitary to get us away from the dinner table and stop us from spreading germs around the table to others.

    • Lama Bean says:

I’m not sure that I care about this Taylor thing, but your students seem to be exercising proper etiquette.

  10. Ally.M says:

I was watching behind the scenes live and saw the nose incident. Maybe I’m naive but it didn’t cross my mind she was snorting coke, I assumed she was blowing her nose or having her make-up touched up. I have to admit I don’t like public nose blowing and I’m not even a public figure, but I am a bit OCD, well a lot actually.

  11. nicole says:

I also blow my nose in private. I’m not overly image conscious I am just not a fan of that sort of stuff in public. I’m a bit prissy with body stuff. But it’s not to appear flawless for the public either. I know I’m not alone…

    • Sullivan says:

Same here. I blow my nose in private. You know what absolutely grosses me out? When someone blows their nose in a restaurant.

  12. Swofty says:

    Snorthy😭

  13. Allie says:

I cannot believe people are just discovering that Taylor is obsessed with her image. Just look at her social media. Her friends. Her daily pap walks. The girl can’t be caught walking around without professional makeup and hair. Of course she’s going to surround herself when she’s blowing her nose. She wants to come off as a Barbie.

  14. Vampi says:

No one has EVER heard me fart. Except hubby. And I was giving birth at the time, so……

  15. Sarah says:

Lol she isn’t snorting coke. There is a camera right there that isn’t hidden because people keep looking at it

  16. KNOW-IT-ALL says:

    who cares?this is not news.

  17. TWINK says:

I was more surprised by the fact that her makeup didn’t need fixing afterwards, I avoid blowing my nose when not at home because I hate it when the make up on my nose comes off so I just don’t blow it. #vanity

  18. iheartgossip says:

She needs to go on vacation, sans camera/social media/phones and her fake friends.

  19. Nik says:

Stupid, why didn’t she just turn around away from the Effn camera? Diva and snot

  20. TopCat says:

I don’t like to blow my nose in public either. I consider it a bit crass and impolite to do so. I like to leave the room or go into the bathroom to blow my nose. Some might call me prissy but I just think it’s good manners.

  21. Kate says:

Not sure why people are talking about not blowing their nose in public? Taylor made her employees gather tightly around her and then blew her nose right in their faces. That’s about as un-private as you can get. Also gross, and if she’s getting a cold, hideously inconsiderate.
