Sienna Miller: Bradley Cooper is my BFF & ‘has no concept of his own brilliance’

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller covers the October issue of Marie Claire to promote Burnt, her second movie with Bradley Cooper. This interview would also promote Black Mass, but Sienna’s supporting role was cut from the film. Anyway, Sienna played wife to BCoop’s Chris Kyle’s in American Sniper, and they worked together in Burnt, the super intense film starring BCoop as an intense chef. Cooper’s chef comes back from the depths of drug addiction and cooks his way to glory. It sounds ridiculous, and Cooper is promoting by claiming lifelong fry-cook status or some such nonsense. Hopefully, his future interviews will be worth covering.

In this interview, Sienna claims to be best friends with BCoop. Did you ever imagine they’d be close? Here are some excerpts where Sienna also talks about the paparazzi:

On Bradley Cooper: “Best friends – we laugh a lot; he is loyal and kind and has no concept of his own brilliance.”

On Clint Eastwood: “He made us feel we were a little family; he shot the movie in 40 days, with no rehearsal. He knows what he wants – I learned to be a bit more prepared and that I had to bring it in one or two takes. Before one scene, he whispered that day’s death toll in Iraq to me. He understood that I get neurotic, I overthink, that sometimes I’m in my head and not in the moment, which sounds very pretentious, but he dissipated the tension.”

Her paparazzi injunction: “The paparazzi sat outside my home in London, and everywhere I went, I was followed by 12 cars. It wasn’t even safe to take my sister Savannah’s kids out. My whole life was documented and manipulated. I thought, I’ve got to put a law in place to make it illegal for people to sit outside my home. I sought an injunction. Filming them secretly for a year with a camera the size of a cigarette lighter and then going to court in 2008 with the evidence.”

[From Marie Claire]

The paparazzi story is insane, but I believe her. Sienna earned plenty of notoriety by dating Balthazar Getty. She also ended up with “slut” graffiti on the front of her home! No one spraypainted “slut” on Balthazar Getty’s home, and they were equally accountable for that affair. The paps weren’t the ones to spraypaint Sienna’s home (I don’t think), but she also had her Jude Law drama, and she dumped Rhys Ifans brutally hard. Sienna has had a long road back to respectability, but I think her image has softened considerably. She no longer has to worry about the paparazzi stalking her. That must be a relief.

The personification of a tub of vanilla ice cream.

  2. Don't kill me I'm French says:

I can believe that she is very friend with Cooper. Some years ago, when Cooper wanted a home in Paris,it was Melanie Laurent and Scarlet Johansson ( who yet lived in Paris) who searched for him .His female co-stars love him

    • Jayna says:

I recently watched a complete interview of him from a few years back on the Howard Stern Show. It was on YouTube. He was dating Renee Zellweger at the time. I loved him the whole interview. He was so laid back, so forthcoming, so unpretentious, and had a great energy about him. He wasn’t all guarded. He loves acting and it came through in the interview, a real passion. No one could come away from that interview not liking Bradley. He’s really a great guy and a lot more than meets the eye.

Some years ago,I was in the same posh sport club than him in Paris and I asked to the receptionist ( my friend. It is how I was able to be there)how he was. She said that he was nice with everyone but he was an attention seeker and very “American”.
My cousin who is waitor at L’Ami Louis met him often said me that he is nice and he often went to eat with some other celebrities ( Dicaprio’s,ScarJo,Laurent,Suki,Dujardin,…) and his mum

  3. lisa2 says:

I wouldn’t have known that was her on the cover if I hadn’t seen her name. She doesn’t look like herself.

    • Lilacflowers says:

The cover looks like Effie in The Hunger Games. Not like Elizabeth Banks, but Elizabeth Banks as Effie.

    • Esmom says:

Yes, the photoshop is strong. I do like the styling though and choice of fashions.

    • Elisa the I. says:

Do stars actually have a say in this? She is almost unrecognizeable on the cover. Would she see the cover before it is published?
I would be so pissed off. She is a very good-looking woman and it’s a shame that the magazine sees a need to photoshop her like this. 🙁
And I agree, she looks like Effie.

    • qwerty says:

I recognized her instantly cause she looks just like Sienna….back in 2007-8. Before the kid, the years of smoking, and the sun damage kicked in.

  4. AmandaPanda says:

Holy photoshop! What happened to her chin?

  5. funcakes says:

Oy vey! BFF. No concept of his own brilliance.
    Yeah, they’re f##king.

  6. Betti says:

She is fortunate to have this 2nd chance at a career – i hope she doesn’t eff it up. I’m not entirely convinced she’s matured that much but time will tell and the movie with Affleck will be a test of that. She has a self destructive side to her personality and only has herself to blame for the notoriety of her personal relationships.

As for the paps – yes they crossed a line but she invited them in to her life (tipping them off regularly during her relationship with Jude Law and Getty). If you play with fire you will get burned.

  7. paola says:

I still think Bradley is gay. No matter how many Irinas he snogs on the beach, to me he’s another George Clooney.
But I do like his acting, he’s getting better and better.

  8. Nev says:

    Great cover.

  9. Bae says:

Bradley already played a former drug addict chef in Kitchen Confidential.

  10. Bee says:

I think Burnt looks good. I’m looking forward to seeing it.

  11. OSTONE says:

I like Bradley. I used to think he was the sex in the first hangover, then something happened and his face was weird, but he seems nice and unpretentious + he is legit talented. So go Coop!

  12. Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

    How is he brilliant?

    • qwerty says:

I don’t know much about his personal life but as an actor he is brilliant to me. In SniperI didn’t even see Bradley Cooper, just the guy he was playing. Even his widow said something similar…

  13. feebee says:

Didn’t know I’d have something in common with Bradley Cooper… and it’s not that I’m also a friend of Sienna’s.

  14. serena says:

Like BCoop is really THAT brilliant.. *rolls eyes*

  15. db says:

I have no concept of Bradley’s brilliance either.

  16. Ellie says:

No: her behavior in the Balthazar Getty thing was despicable and it’s not misogyny. He was an alcoholic/drug addict who fell off the wagon, left his wife and four children and shacked up with her. His friends and family were literally afraid he was going to drink himself to death. In the meantime she was calling the paps to photograph her lounging on his yacht and traipsing all over London with him. Her family (mother and sister) were defending her to the press and trashing his wife! She was probably pouring liquor down his throat so he wouldn’t go back to his wife. This was about as classy as “A Low Vera”.

Meanwhile his wife said nothing publicly while she was being humiliated and insulted. He finally left Sienna, went back into rehab and went back to his wife. They’re still together today. She’s golddigger and a bitch.

    • Truthful says:

Sorry but I find Balthazar Getty and his wife as pathetic as Sienna on this! There is no bigger person in this! And I find a bit pushing to put the blame only on her. I cannot respect any of them they all had a part to play in this sad pathetic little “vaudeville”. the three of them are sad, low little bitches… blaming just one is unfair in this context.

    • Lou says:

Awwww poor Balthazer!! Sure he couldn’t help himself – he drank, he was an addict – it wasn’t that he was horny, wanted a young blonde and was bored of his pregnant wife. Oh No!!!!!

Honestly, it’s terrible when misogyny is ingrained in women as much as men, but it is! Women are all too eager to slut-shame and take such pleasure in it. You just made up that she called paparazzi – even after it came to light that her phones her tapped and she got compensation! She started to not trust her own family as she did not understand how her private info was getting out there.

It’s great to see an actress that the internet loves to maul get good opportunities. The bitterness and confusion that ensues is fun to watch:)

      • Violet says:

Was about to type a response about the Getty stuff but Lou said it all, well apart from the paps bit. The paps definitely hounded her at specific times but she wanted to be a starlet and played the same game the majority of them do (I remember reading the cringiest account of her attention seeking behaviour on Lainey’s blog years back). Her hype/talent ratio has always been off the charts, her acting has been distractingly bad in everything I’ve seen her in.

      • Anne says:

Yell at me, if you like, but, in my experience, women have more sexual self-control and a more innate awareness of and consideration for the feelings of other people than men, generally. I wish that wasn’t my experience, but it is. So, I understand the impulse some people have to blame Sienna a bit more harshly in that situation. I think they were both recklessly inconsiderate in the way they handled that affair, and, ultimately, they are both responsible for the pain they caused, but something tells me women know the pain that behavior inflicts more deeply than *some* men do.

        Just sayin’. . .

  17. Esteph says:

I honestly do not think that this movie is going to get a lot of attention. The idea of BCoop as a chef is idk, lost on me

    • Esmom says:

I think the fairly recent phenomenon of elevating chefs to rock star status, at least in some circles, must have made someone think people would respond to a film about one. Who knows how B Coop will do in the role, or how the film will do, it will be interesting to see. Although probably not interesting enough for me to go out and see it.

  18. WinnieCoopersMom says:

It amazes me how some of these A-list actors are just not conventionally attractive. Like, their female counterparts have got to be a 10 and the guys can have an average face. BCoop looks like any 30-something in any average American bar on a Friday night drinking a beer. Nothing special. His acting chops and on-screen charisma – which I think he does have – is what saves him. It’s just not enough for an actress, which will never change.

    • WowBradleysMom says:

Dear Winnie – please let me know where that American bar is so I can drop in. Have you looked at Mr. Cooper’s pics? He’s pushed through some tough roles as of late and hopefully will put health first now but the guy’s got serious talent, charisma and beauty. And I’m still looking for any joint that has a spare one of these average guys. Fingers crossed, dream dream.

  19. Moi says:

    She’s so freaking pretty.

  20. Foile says:

I cannot believe how strong people feel about her love affair with Getty. And how she has to “mature” in order to earn respect back. Am I the only one here who does not know these people intimately enough to have such strong feelings and knowledge about what exactly happened and what kind of people they are?

    • Lou says:

I agree, Foile. The condescension from some of these posts is so pathetic.

    • Sunsetsnow says:

It is a little weird to have such strong feelings for someone that you have never met. People make mistakes. It is called life. i am actually rooting for her.

  21. Corrie says:

I think Sienna paid her dues and she paid a lot higher price than the men she shacked up with… trying to blame an affair only on Sienna is ridiculous. Balty, Jude and Daniel… all walked away scott free and Jude is still sleeping around. So, kick rocks with the titles and labels. ITs time to move on. Sienna upruptly left her boyfriend not spouse. Lets lay off dramatics. Meanwhile, Balt, Jude & Daniel cheated on their fiancé or spouses. And when has Sienna ever been the only philanderer in Hollywood.
