One of the hottest shows during London Fashion Week is the Burberry show. It’s been that way for years now. Burberry always spends the money on a great location, and the cream of the British-celebrity crop comes out time and time again. This season’s Burberry show was no different: celebrity guests included Anna Wintour, Poppy and Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Suki Waterhouse, St. Vincent and more. And guess who else? Lord and Lady Cumberbatch, of course!
Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter happily posed together in what I can only assume were coordinating Burberry ensembles. Maybe it’s just sheer relief at not seeing Bendy in another denim shirt, but I think he looks GREAT here. Like, this is the best he’s looked in months. His hair is in the process of growing out, he doesn’t look exhausted and he seems pleased to be at a social event. Sophie looks pretty good too – this might be the best her hair has ever looked, although that’s setting the bar pretty low (harsh but true). Two more fashion notes: I’m sure Sophie’s shoes cost about four mortgage payments, but I dislike them. And why is Benedict carrying a man-bag?
Last week, Star Magazine claimed that Benedict and Sophie were having big marriage problems already. While it wouldn’t surprise me if they were having some adjustment issues, they seem happier together than ever before. Huh. Oh, and over the weekend, the Daily Mail got some photos of Benedict and Sophie out with baby Christopher – go here to see the photos of Bendy cradling his Cumberbaby.

I thought that too but now can’t decide. That’s an OTT move for a tab blurb, and they don’t look into the camera once. Why do two things (Burberry) in response to one story?
Supposedly those were taken a day or two after the christening, before the Star. The Mail may have just held onto them until the christening fell down in the search results.
The DM don’t have a problem with posting more than one story at a time. Hell they regularly have 4-5 Kardashian stories at any one time.
The Star thing may be a tabloid blurb but when you typed his name into Google it was the first story that came up. PR step in and voila, it’s pics of him with his kid looking like the doting dad.
I suppose I just find it hard to believe that a pap managed to get pics at that moment when I’m sure they have been out and about more than once in the 3/4 months the child has been around. This time last year I probably would have agreed but seeing how he shilled every aspect of his private life for the Oscar, I honestly don’t put it past him anymore, despite what he says. I think he’s happy to do it when it’s on his terms.
But I am being cynical
I actually don’t have an issue with staged pics with kids. *ducks tomatoes* 🙂 It’s control.
Since those were taken before the Star came out and they did Burberry, it seemed possible to me his PR was fighting with the DM over them and just said whatever after the Star–you can’t see the baby’s face, they can argue it but don’t quite have a leg to stand on under UK law–or the DM didn’t want to lose thunder to the Sun, only a concern if the photos were more expensive.
it was clearly a set up pap shot. when celebs want to, they manage to hide their kids for ageeeees, and there’s plenty of proof. ben is just thirsty, he’s very jennifer garner I find.
They both look the best I have ever seen them. I actually would wear her entire outfit, shoes included, I love seeing a woman in honest to goodness cute flats that look comfortable to be in.
For some reason I find him too smug to be hot anymore, not sure whether last year’s antics spoiled it for me, but if it weren’t for her awesome coat and shoes I wouldn’t have even commented…

Agreed. I’m drooling over their outfits. Classy, but comfortable. I have a coat addiction that I’m trying to force onto the hubby a little bit. But alas, he’s a plumber who doesn’t go to fancy events, so he doesn’t want a coat that’s too snappy.
Yeah, the timing of the baby-outing pics was likely to combat the “marriage woes” story.
The baby pics were taken before the story was published.
Even if they were, they’re probably still staged and were just released at an opportune time.
They may have been taken before last Friday, but they were timed for release after Friday’s Star Mag story broke. They’ve got some sort of a deal worked out with the Mail, if they’re the ones who owned the shots.
I presumed the DM owned the shots, but they’ve appeared in other pubs without credit, so it’s unclear. And a little odd, frankly.
Her shirt doesn’t fit right and I hate the bracelet length sleeve on a long coat. The shoes are too masculine in style for the outfit, boring as it is. He does look good, but it’s also a boring outfit.

They both look good and I really like her outfit. I have shoes like those, but not shiny like hers (and probably a fraction of the cost, too). I wear a lot of shoes like those – can’t/don’t need to wear heels since I’m close to 5’10.
I had to go and check the shoes on the Burberry website and now I have to have them, they are gorgeous. And normally I don’t like calfskin at all, but here the combo looks great. There is another pair of shoes with eyelet detailing that also look fantastic!

It just looks weird having the man carrying the bag, esp. when she doesn’t have one (she probably put all of her purse stuff in his man bag!) Never thought He would be the type to sell pictures of his child.
He even worked with the same pap that “caught” them with his parents in the countryside, “caught” him jogging in his 1980’s jogging ensemble and “caught” them in those photos of them shopping just before she gave birth. Be less obvious Bendy and use a different pap next time for shilling purposes.
Paps tag specific celebs for market purposes, so you’ll see the same ones getting the same celebs whether there is cooperation or not.

They both look really good. This might be my favorite look for Sophie – ever.
My only quibble is with BC’s bag. Usually I enjoy a good leather satchel, but this one doesn’t work with the rest of his ensemble. I was going to say it looks like the “nuclear football” satchel that follows the President wherever he goes, but after review I actually think the launchcode bag is far more stylish than whatever that thing is Benny is carrying.

And yes those baby shots were staged, the pap was clearly out in the open to take such clear/unrestricted view photos – remember the honeymoon shots. He can be private when it suits – its been a few months since the baby was born and these are the first public images that we’ve had – so yes, he’s still selling his personal life to promote brand Cumberbatch.

The photos were uploaded by the pap 9/18, Friday but who knows when they were taken. That’s why the Fail didn’t give a day and his hair is different. Don’t think I can link here, but you can find the pics on hosting photo agencies with the data.

It’s weird, I used to think they looked related (the pictures from the Oscars or wherever he first introduced her) and found it slightly unsettling, but in these pictures I don’t think they look alike at all.
But this is also the first time I’ve found him rather attractive, so maybe he just looks different.

I’m going to guess and say they are what might be referred to as “cankles” in the more unkind portions of the internet – where your ankle literally disappears and there is no shapely transition between foot and calf. This outfit and the pink one later on definitely one of Hunter’s better looks. That said, while she probably was invited to the fashion show way earlier, I’m betting Cumbers was an add-on, and both this appearance and the sudden appearance of the Happy Family On Parade were beyond doubt a response to the STAR article. But either way, that woman always looks miserable. She only lightens up when someone else talks to her.

My 2 cents. @lindy79-first thing I thought of when I saw the “day out” pics was damage control. First The Sun publishes a story about the marriage being in trouble and Ben neglecting his child. Then it gets picked up by a couple more low level tabs. True or not, it’s gaining traction. I wondered if perhaps the FaiL contacted them for comment and they set this up. Several shots at different times, with and without coats, coffee, package, babe in arms. He looks like he’s just getting on with it.
Burberry seems different. They really look in sync (even walking/posing in similar ways). Maybe Sophie’s vacation in Cap Ferat allowed her to get some rest and recharge.

I think they both look great. I like her new haircut and I think it’s the best hair Bendy has sported in while. They seem so much more comfortable with each other now that they’re settling into to married life and parenting. Perhaps they’ll last longer than the 2 years that I was giving them last winter??

Good answer up thread Hermia! Finally someone has the guts to say it. If everyone doesn’t gush over everything that this couple does, they’re haters. Get real. It’s all observations and some of us have different opinions. And we don’t fall into the “nutso theory” camp either.
I think they look great together, and that Sophie looks really sweet and pretty. (Might be an unpopular opinion here on these boards, but I’ve always thought she’s really cute.) They both look especially good here. Bendy is really handsome. Maybe it’s her tote or something he’s carrying for her? I dunno. Her accessory (aka FOOTWEAR) taste seems a bit lacking so maybe?

I never got the fascination about his look, but his blogs are interesting, funny and sometimes mean. I would say this the first time I found him remotely attractive, although he looks like a late 1960’s tax man.
I never got the excitement over Bendy or Hiddles, though they seem to be nice people, but both look pretty good in today’s posts.

Aww, I have a 4 month old and I just left him alone (with my parents, not alone alone obviously) the whole evening last week. I was a wreck, but apparently he hardly noticed.
My son is my parents first grandchild so we pretty much have to lock them out to not have them in our house every minute every day 🙂
