Ben McKenzie & Morena Baccarin are expecting a kid together & it’s messy

wenn22916497

Here are some photos of Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie making their red carpet couple debut at an Emmys after-party last Sunday. They costar in Fox’s Gotham, where they apparently play love interests (I don’t watch the show, so I’m going by People’s reporting). I didn’t really pay much attention to the fact that these two people got together, although I had one small moment of “Huh, I though her marriage only recently ended?” Turns out it’s even more complicated than that.

Morena’s husband of nearly four years, Austin Chick, filed for divorce from Morena back in July, and he asked for joint custody of their 23-month old son Julius. Let’s be generous and say that the split happened in May or June of this year. Morena’s been single for a total of maybe three full months… although “single” is a relative term, considering the divorce is still pending and nothing has been signed. But Morena has spent her free time bangin’ Ben McKenzie, and now they are expecting their first child together. Girl, you are messy!

Gotham City’s population is growing. Gotham costars Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin are expecting their first child together, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

“She and Ben are very happy about this news,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Everyone is very excited.”

The former Homeland actress is already mom to 23-month-old Julius, her son with estranged husband, director/writer Austin Chick. On Monday, PEOPLE confirmed the parents-to-be were dating after the two were spotted together at multiple events during Emmy Awards weekend, including the Fox party on Sunday, where they were seen holding hands.

This will be the first child for the former O.C. star, 37, while Baccarin, 36, and Chick welcomed their son in 2013 before he filed for divorce in July after three and a half years of marriage.

[From People]

How far along is Morena? And by that I mean “Is Morena’s pregnancy the reason why her husband filed for divorce?” Or did Austin Chick file for divorce just because she was screwing around? Because it certainly feels like she was screwing around and got pregnant right around the time Chick filed for divorce. Still… I mean, congrats to the couple. And I can’t believ Ben is one year older than Morena! Insane.

Yes! When I read the news yesterday I started hoping that Celebitchy would cover this, because it’s a very promising case of gossip mud!

    • byland says:

Same here. I know next to nothing about these people and have seen little that they’re in past loving Firefly so I’m pretty much flying blind, looking forward to the gossip implosions.

      • delorb says:

The show is good to great. Its basically the Muppet babies, but with Batman lore. She is good in it and he is IMO, terrible. His face barely registers any emotion. In an episode from last season, he smiled out of the blue. No reason. Just smile, then back to blank. Spooky.

  2. Betti says:

Congrats but her life is going to get very very messy – sounds like the ex is pissed (and if she was cheating he has every right to be).

    • truthSF says:

It’s well known in the gossip world that he was cheating on her for years. I’m surprise she didn’t divorce him when she was pregnant with their first (and only) kid.

      • qwerty says:

Who the fcuk cheats on Morena Baccarin?

      • Kitten says:

Really? I feel so uncool because I had no idea. I also didn’t know that these two were even dating. I Googled Austin Chick out of curiosity and I don’t get the appeal AT ALL, whereas I think Morena is simply stunning.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Ben simply because he was on The OC.

      • BlueNailsBetty says:

Didn’t they break up right after the baby was born? Or am I imagining that?

      • ldub says:

@Kitten: “I’ll always have a soft spot for Ben simply because he was on The OC.”

        THIS!!!!

      • Bridget says:

Well known in what gossip world? I’d be amazed if even the most dedicated gossip follower could identify Austin Chick out of a lineup. I certainly can’t, and I’ve seen Morena in a few things (Firefly, Homeland).

      • Birdix says:

Oh me too, regarding the soft spot. My friend looked at me like I’d lost my mind as a few tears rolled down my face as Seth sailed off into the sunset as the first season ended. She still teases me about it.

      • Ronda says:

i agree Bridget who even has heard of that guy? its also “known in the gossip world” that 94% of all male actors are gay.

  3. lucy2 says:

The whole thing is very sketchy! I feel bad for her husband and son, I can’t see how this is anything but a cheated and got caught story.

    • Naya says:

The timeline could fit. We dont know how long she was separated though, just when the divorce was filed. We also dont know how far along the pregnancy is. Its a whoopsies pregnancy for sure but that doesn’t mean its an affair pregnancy.

      • Meatball says:

Don’t you have to be separated for at least 6 months in some places before you can even file for divorce?

      • TQB says:

@Meatball – in NY, yes, but that’s unusual. OTOH, there’s nothing that says you MUST file after separating, ever.

      • tealily says:

Yeah, this was my thought too. I’d hate to judge too harshly… we don’t know their story. They may not have been together for a very long time.

    • BlueNailsBetty says:

Morena and Austin have been separated since their child was born.

    • layla says:

Could be messy and sketchy, or could be life! It happens.

My gf was with a guy for over 6yrs, talked of family etc etc. They split and she started dating someone new and was pregnant within months! We were all like… Ughhhh, WTF?! Are you crazy?! This is skeeeeetchy as hell!……….. Turns out, first guy was still waffling on the kids front and my gf (who is early 40’s) was “it’s now or never for me, and if you don’t know you want children with me after all this time, I need to move on”. She didn’t plan to meet someone new so immediately, but she did, and they quickly soon realised they wanted children, together (And yes, both beign over 40 expeditied things!) … and voila, 2 years later and 2nd baby on the way life has worked out!

Life isn’t always neat. But that doesn’t means it has to be sketchy either.

      • Tiffany :) says:

        Good points.

      • Andrea says:

My gf dumped her soulmate of 8 years because he couldn’t get his act together financially (still fighting ex-wife in court 8 years later) and immediately got pregnant with new guy within 2 months (she’s 36 and itching to have a kid). new guy totally does not seem her type and no one seems to think it will last past 2-5 years. They are engaged now after 8 months together (6 of which she’s been pregnant).

      • tealily says:

This probably isn’t the *best* plan, but if you know you want kids, you have a shortening window left in which to get pregnant, and you meet a guy who wants to have a kid with you, why not go for it? Better to take a gamble on love than to live out the rest of your life regretting you didn’t have the child you always wanted, right? Obviously, it’s a very personal choice, but I can understand that perspective.

      • Ronda says:

tealiy: and have child deal with all that? and in the worst case scenario both you and the child regret it?
i think its unfair to the child.

      • Splinter says:

Ronda, I have rarely seen people regretting having kids, much more often regret not having them.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

People may not regret having children but that doesn’t make it right to thoughtlessly bring children into the world.

  4. raptor says:

Ryan Atwood always did love a dramatic relationship.

  5. GlimmerBunny says:

This is just like in season 1 of the OC when Ryan Atwood got the latina girl from Chino pregnant. I tried to watch Gotham but it wan’t my thing, so he’s still Ryan to me! The mom-to-be sure is pretty but she seems a bit wild.

    • Mrs. Darcy says:

Ha, I forgot about that! Loved the O.C. (well the first couple seasons). I couldn’t get into Gotham either but I did like his other show Southland.

    • ldub says:

      SHE HAD THE BABY!

there could’ve been one more season……

*Barbra Streisand’s “Memories” starts to play*

    • MadMenluv says:

but didn’t it turn out to not be his kid after all? why do i remember it that way? that Latina girl have another bf? man I still remember the song that was playing in that scene when he goes back to Chino to see her…the soundtrack to that show was amazing for my 22 year old self…

  6. Matador says:

    Who and who now?

    • Rice says:

That’s what I said. Whoever they are, it sounds like messy messes messing around.

    • Shambles says:

I don’t know who they are either, but they creep me out in photos, TBH. There’s something weirdly cold about both of their eyes. But maybe they’re both just screaming inside because they’re pregnant with an oops baby. Or maybe this whole thing is a coverup for the fact that they’re actually robot humanoids?! The world may never know…

      • truthSF says:

She did play the reptilian leader in the V show remake.

      • ezora says:

She played Inara, a companion who are a very well-respected part of the social elite in tv show Firefly and later also in the movie Serenity. (LOVE 2 Firefly and Serenity, HATE 2 FOX who cancelled the show 😉 ) She’s also played Anna in tv show V (the remake) in which she was one of the leads playing the leader of the aliens (?) as well as Brody’s wife in tv show Homeland.

    • Adrien says:

The guy from The OC, the girl was double agent in Spy movie and also appeared in Homeland. I don’t even know their names but I’m familiar with their faces.

    • Kitten says:

Ugh I hate you guys for making me feel old. Y’all were probably fetuses when The OC was on.

      • Rice says:

Actually, I was part of the Beverley Hills 90210 era (the original not the reboot) so you’re not old. I just never watched the OC or whatever it was.

      • ldub says:

        GOD!
second season of the OC was EVERYTHING! LOL

      • truthSF says:

Nope, I was around and loving/obsessing over the O.C. But I sure am baffled to find out Seth Cohen is older than me. Did not know he was born in the 1979 (barely). I thought he was one of us 80’s babies.

      • littlestar says:

I watched the OC… And I will admit that I was probably too old at the time to be watching it! It was a teen show after all…. But I still enjoyed it! Haha.

      • Kitten says:

He was born before me if he’s 37 and I was born in (late) ’78 so yeah, he’s a 1970s baby (the best kind!) 😉

      • truthSF says:

My 2nd older sister was born in ’78, 2 years before me. Hey, at least I can say I was conceived in ’79, lol.

Fun fact: Morena played Maya Griffin on the O.C. So it seems like her and Ben met prior to working together on Gotham. It now makes sense that they got together if they knew each other for years prior to the hook up.

      • Kitten says:

@TruthSF-Close enough! We both pretty much grew up in the 80s and that makes us awesome. 😉

That’s so funny about Morena. Didn’t remember her from the show but yeah, it makes sense that they would hook up if there’s a history there.

    • Neah23 says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t know who these people are.

    • Franca says:

She played Inara Serra on Firefly FOR GOD’S SAKE !!!! He played someone on The OC.

    • Lilo says:

She’s the chick with the crazy eyes from How I Met Your Mother, the one Marshal wanted to bang but got back togerther with Lily.

    • Abby_J says:

She also has a role as Copycat in the upcoming Deadpool movie. 🙂

  7. Ayra. says:

Most usually announce pregnancies at around 3 months, right? (Considered a ‘safe time’, I think..)
Early morning gossip is good for one’s health, the bump watch is going to be interesting.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

TMZ ran an article on this yesterday. Apparently, she filed court papers requesting her son be with her full-time because she’s nearing the end of her first trimester and travel will become more difficult as her pregnancy progresses. So, yeah. End of first trimester and hubby just filed for divorce two months ago…this could get messy.

      • Naya says:

Again, we dont know if they were separated prior to filing. People seem to be assuming that they went from living together in the morning to him filing for divorce at noon.

      • Chinoiserie says:

Naya if people are married and they have not said that they are living apart it is normal to assume they were living together. Marriage kind of loses meaning socially (not legally and emotionally) if everyone is just, oh they must have been separated, we do not know. If there are reports they were I might understand people saying this. But even then it is rather easy for people just say they were separated.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Someone else wrote above that she has been separated from her husband since her first child was born 2 years ago.

      • tealily says:

Chinoiserie, I don’t see how it’s any more of a leap to assume they were still living together than to assume that they were separated. How exactly to assumptions strangers make cause marriage to lose any kind of “social” meaning?

    • Jen says:

I was just going to say-considering many people choose not to let friends and distant family know until they’re at three months, it would really surprise me if their “source” (right) released the news earlier than that. It makes me think she may be farther along and possibly showing, because wouldn’t a good publicist want a little more time between the divorce in July and the pregnancy announcement in September?

  8. alice says:

as messy and uninteresting this is for me, since I just vaguely know who these people are, it’ is weirdly refreshing that just for once in Hollywood, is a woman and not a man, being the cheater or supposed one. I know, it’s weird, but I’m sick of hearing that all the cheating in Hollywood is always committed by the men, and the women are just the humiliated victims all the time.

    • kai says:

      I feel the same!

      • alice says:

Right? I know that there’s maybe a strong social component on why we hear more about Hollywood male cheaters than female ones. Of course there’s a lot of female cheating, just that when a man cheats is socially acceptable and even wooed as a ladies man among the bros and when a female does it she’d of course labeled, more or less openly as the “whore”, so I guess they tend to be more careful. Many men are almost “proud” of being seen as ladiesmen and heartthrobs. And considering that celebrities have all of them a high regard for the popularity, image and brand concepts, and their careers like it or not depend on that, well, it’s different. Sadly a sign that not much has changed socially regarded equal treatment.

      • livinglavitalola says:

Yeah, I’m happy (for a lack of better words) it’s a woman cheating but for completely different reasons. Every hw film it’s the same ole story: the mans is unhappily married & seeks to find everything in someone else that he can’t find in his wife. Ppl act like only men fall out of love, & aren’t satisfied in relationships & a woman is just happy enough to get a ring. The world is filled with plenty of women who have husbands that don’t satisfy them in more than one way or another.

    • NUTBALLS says:

I only know her as Inara from Firefly.

    • Chinoiserie says:

I honestly believe plenty of women cheat in Hollywood, they just do not leave their spouses so nobody knows. Generally men make more money than women in Hollywood (well, and everywhere) so those kind of women who cheat might not want to leave their rich husbands. And then there is the social aspect too which make easier for women’s careers to be destroyed if they are caught. If there are accidents there might just be abortions or the women just have children which are not their husbands.

    • Ronda says:

as soon as lie dectors are used men and women dont report any differences in their sexual habits from cheating to casual sex. so there are no differences. when it comes to cheating though women tend to go for higher status men and if you are famous there is obviously a smaller chance that someone with status will sell you out. if Ben Affleck had cheated with someone else who had soemthing to lose we and Jen would have never heard of it.

a woman also has the sole decision over an abortion. so a cheating woman getting pregnant getting an abortion is nothing we will hear about, a pregnant side piece we hear about all the time because the pregnant cheating woman has something to lose with being pregant while the sidepiece has something to gain.

also you have to consider by far most gossip readers are women and therefore its catered to feel empathy with other women and get angry at men. usually there are one or two “bad girls” (Jolie was it before, Kristen Stewart stepped in, January Jones is not well known enough) and the rest is pretty much portrayed as poor victims that have bad luck with men (see Sandra Bullock who makes a career out of dating the worst possible men)

  9. Chloe says:

Huh. I don’t know this show or her, but I was seeing apparently recent pics from their set just now and she looks visibly pregnant. At least three months, maybe more? But I was showing right away with my second child, so who knows? A gossip story to watch, for sure.

  10. Priscila says:

Nah…it seems the ex hubby was on down side work wise. And she has been in back to back TV projects. Women being the breadwinners in our society is still pretty inusual and most men feel emasculated. I say: they were over, but still living same place as hubby had no money. He filled for divorce and requests spousal support as soon as it was clear she had moved….timing seems right.

    • Ronda says:

dont forget about women losing respect for their husbands when they make less money, its very common and cheating with more succesful men then usually ends the relationship. i mean what most women look for in a mate is still ambition, confidence and earning good money, all things which are hard to see in a man then makes less. i dont know why the blame would so often be solely be put on men.

here is a good article on that:
      http://nymag.com/nymetro/news/features/n_9495/
“According to psychologists (and divorce lawyers) who see couples struggling with such changes, many relationships follow the same pattern. First, the wife starts to lose respect for her husband, then he begins to feel emasculated, and then sex dwindles to a full stop.”

and “Jeff was never laid off,” his wife explains. “There’s not that feeling that my husband is a loser.”
in those things most women still have a huge way to go to not see a man who has been laid off (which probably is more the norm nowadays) as a loser.

note also calling men who spend money their wives earned are called freeloaders while women who do the same thing are not called that.

and Jezebel writes “the pervasive notion that men are afraid of high-powered women is kind of bullshit, and that research shows “men will be just as adaptive and realize what an advantage a high-earning partner can be” in the near future. (Mundy) encourages women on first dates to “own up to your accomplishments, buy him a drink, and tell him what you really do.” Her book is based on recent research that shows that while lower-income women are marrying less often, ladies in the top earning percentile are getting wedded in droves — their marriage rates have increased by ten percentage points.”

      • Delta Juliet says:

“note also calling men who spend money their wives earned are called freeloaders while women who do the same thing are not called that”

Right, they are just called gold diggers.

      • Kitten says:

“Right, they are just called gold diggers.”

        Boom!

      • Ronda says:

so the average wife who stays at home is called a gold digger? thats news. do you actually think men dont get a lot more crap for staying at home or making less?

you could also try to answer the rest which shows that your statement above is wrong and certainly not a male only problem isntead of picking one thing and ignoring the rest 🙂

      • Wren says:

Honestly where I think it falls apart is when it feels like both partners aren’t contributing equally to the household. Earning money is only one way to contribute. When one person works, or works more, and the other doesn’t compensate by doing more of the housework, bitterness breeds quickly. Since housework is still considered “woman’s work” many men either refuse to do it or simply don’t know how.

I went through this for awhile (being the breadwinner) and the only thing that bugged me was that I’d come home and shit wasn’t clean. I didn’t care at all that I was paying the bills, but since he had all the time in the world and I didn’t, I was upset that he’d do one load of dishes and leave the rest because “the dish rack was full”. Um, it’s called a dish towel! Dry the damn dishes and do the rest of them! Hence the idea of a freeloader.

      • Kitten says:

@Ronda-Exactly what Wren said. Men are only considered “freeloaders” when they don’t pull their weight at home. Since we’re busy reinforcing gender stereotypes here, I thought I’d add that most women who stay at home do the work of a dozen people-they are caretakers, maids, cooks, gardeners, accountants, and the list goes on. I’m sure if stay-at-home dads do the same, then nobody has an issue with it.

      • Ronda says:

you are wright Wren and this isnt about saying men are not to blame at all, it just about this “men are intimidated by succesful women” BS which is just the female nice guy. feminism also includes women changing.

here is another article on it:
        http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/11279824/Female-breadwinners-why-earning-more-can-poison-a-marriage.html
“I found some men felt threatened by their partners’ high-earning status and retaliated against it, but mainly it was women who were having problems coming to terms with the situation and were surprised that it bothered them so much”

      • Andrea says:

I have always had a problem in previous relationships because I stand to inherit a lot of money and men I have dated have been unable to handle it. I have had men who never cried, crying about how they will never be good enough for me. Now that I am older and nearing much closer to this inheritance ( I am about to start getting lump sums), I really worry that the potential pool of men I could marry is very small. I have found that men who have equal or more money than me spend too much, be too career focused to the point I get lost in the shuffle, or are just plain boring. I have sadly cried that if I hadn’t been given these financial means, I’d probably be married by now. I by no means throw this in the men’s faces either, but once they meet my parents and whatnot, its like a whole new ballgame. Maybe potential suitors shouldn’t meet my parents unless it is very serious? LOL

      • PennyLane says:

Well there was that actress from Baywatch who accidentally married a hugely wealthy British lord – they met in the states, she had no idea who he was – and he just told her he was a lawyer. He never mentioned the fact that he was an heir. It wasn’t until after they were already engaged that he told her (they were on the way to meet his parents at the family castle). So yeah, you might want to try hiding your parents until the wedding. 🙂

    • Bridget says:

They don’t live in the same city anymore. It clearly says in her custody filing that she’s in NY and he’s in LA.

  11. lowercaselois says:

Why can’t she screw around without getting pregnant, like use protection- strange.

    • evermore says:

She’s from another Planet ” V”. She has to procreate her species.

      🙂

    • Wren says:

Things happen, don’t judge. Condoms break, you can forget to take a pill. Maybe they were being stupid and not using protection, maybe it’s as much a surprise to them as to her husband.

I WILL judge her for cheating, not for the getting preggo part.

    • Bridget says:

She’s 36. Maybe she wanted another kid while she could have one.

    • Ripley says:

I’m married and had an IUD (99.96% effective) implanted after my first child. Two years later with the IUD still in… Pregnant.

Sadly it was an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured and I lost the tube (and a third of my blood) throughout the whole mess. Plus I had gotten my period the day before it ruptured even though I was 8 weeks along. So, yes. Even using birth control (religiously as one does with an IUD) the only certainty is abstinence.

      .04% possibility… So you’re saying there’s a chance.

Also, listen to your bodies, Ladies. Still surreal to me.

  12. NewWester says:

When you are a celebrity, at what point do you tell your children not to believe everything you read on the Internet ? At some point in the future they will read something online and it could be embrassing to the adults.
Not like the days before the Internet where you might come across a photo of your mom in a fake fur coat and Nancy Sinatra thigh high white boots dancing on the hood of a car( I did see such a photo)

  13. Tiffany27 says:

    YIKES!!!

  14. liahfhak says:

Aren’t all these news about they supposedly dating freshly new? Are they even dating? Or are they dating BECAUSE she got pregnant during the time they just toodled?

  15. What was that says:

I have not seen these shows ,from the UK but she is the girl from Firefly ,and Serenity the movie.I think she is very beautiful .I always hoped she would get together with the Captain!

    • MartianLove says:

Yes! I was wondering why no one else on here remembered her from Firefly or maybe that just makes me a complete nerd. I’m still holding out for her and the Captain to rekindle, they had such great chemistry!

    • Abby_J says:

I’m with ya too. I always expected them to get together.

      Team Malrina!

I’m not good with ship names. 🙂

  16. Ronda says:

im in a good mood so lets try to find something positive…well… at least her ex knew about it and did not find out after the child was born.

of course she cheated on him, no doubt about it. AND WITHOUT PROTECTION ! seriously that should be a crime.

  17. AG-UK says:

She irritated me in Homeland and wasn’t she in V? My son and I watch Gotham but he is more interested in the show than I am. Her part isn’t that great but I have since stopped watching but it’s coming on again next month so my 14 y/o v happy. But like someone said can’t they use contraception??

    • Kitten says:

Oh she was the MOST annoying character even on Homeland. She is gorgeous though.

      • tracking says:

Agree with you both on Homeland. She should have been an incredibly sympathetic character but she was not at all. Badly miscast, should have been more of a girl next door type.

  18. Funcakes says:

It’s waaaaaay messier. Her Husband wants major money for spousal and child support. She wants her husband and son to move to ny from california because she doesnt want to fly went she gets far along in her pregancy.
And how sloppy can you be to get preganant by the dude youve been dating for just a couple of months. A co star on a show were you work. Yeah that’s not going to get to uncomfortable when he decides he just want to coparent instead of being a couple. Then she has to sit and watch date while she has two kids under the age of three to look after.
Girl you belong on a episode of Maury.

    • mom2two says:

This has the makings of mess. Ben is usually very private and I hope he knows that his private life is about to be broken wide open with this divorce. Her ex doesn’t sound like he’s going to roll over for her, so this is going to be interesting.

    • qwerty says:

Forget the cheating and the divorce, moving from Cali to NYC would be the real tragedy for me.

    • Lady D says:

She won the right to take her son to NY with her yesterday.

  19. Renee28 says:

It’s interesting seeing the mental gymnastics people have been doing to justify her having an affair and getting pregnant. They must have been separated. She’s the breadwinner. Her husband’s a bum. If the roles were reversed no one would be giving a man the benefit of the doubt.

    • Tiffany27 says:

      True….

      • livinglavitalola says:

GTFOOHWTBS…Ppl were all up & through that affect thread giving Ben the benefit of the doubt when their original divorce news hit. It wasn’t even the benefit of the doubt, just straight blaming Jen for looking frumpy and not keeping his attention. And, there are still ppl on this site who don’t think he eff’d the nanny. It has nothing to do with man or woman but everything to do with what ppl defend when it’s someone they like.

And, anyway, hating someone bc they cheated on a spouse is about the most asinine thing I have ever heard. If you aren’t getting cheated on, you have no business getting in your feelings about anything. It doesn’t concern you. Not your relationship? No your problem or business.

And, they have been separated since soon after their son was born and living on opposite sides of the USA. Do some fact checking before you start with the faux outrage.

    • Ronda says:

yup trying to educate people here a bit but they dont engage and just try to avoid it.

    • chaser says:

Yup. And please, what crazy people in this world think a marriage is over when people file for divorce… filing a paper is a administrative process, not the end of a relationship.

    • Neah23 says:

      This +1000000

    • Illyra says:

      Absolutely true. It’s annoying.

    • I Choose Me says:

And you have proof she had an affair how? Just because it’s speculated about or seems plausible does not make it true.

  20. evermore says:

She’s one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, imo. She looks stunning w short hair wow.

  21. vauvert says:

I have had a soft spot for Morena since Firefly. I hope that her new relationship works, and that she and the ex manage the divorce gracefully. For now she has won in court – her young son will live mostly with her, which is understandable given the pregnancy.
As for how and what happened, we can only speculate. The marriage may have been going south before she got with the new guy (sorry, don’t watch the show, so I don’t know his name and too lazy to scroll up😊)

  22. Mrs. Darcy says:

I’m not super surprised as there were pretty major rumours about her and Damien Lewis having an affair on Homeland set. Ben has never really pulled anything like this before though so on that front it surprises me. The decision to have the baby and go so public is pretty epic/messy though.

  23. Talie says:

Is birth control a foreign concept to everyone these days? I can’t tell you how many of my friends have been getting pregnant and are “surprised” — no marriage (not that I judge). But these people aren’t celebrities — just seem to be influenced by them though.

    • qwerty says:

You obviously do judge though. And that’s okay 😛

      • Ronda says:

yeah what is gossip if not judging people. i never understood why people on gossip sites say “dont judge”, its like they dont understand what gossip is.
        its fine, dont worry, guys.

    • Azurea says:

Um, birth control can fail, even if used religiously.

      • Talie says:

It’s not being used religiously then. Don’t be fooled.

      • Bridget says:

Do you even know what it means when they talk about the effectiveness rates of birth control? It quite literally means that no birth control is foolproof, even if used religiously. Condoms? 99% effective, meaning 1 out of 100 will fail. Birth control pills? 97% effective.

    • Andrea says:

A lot of people aren’t careful and think one time can’t happen to them since they are in their 30’s.

      • anna says:

huh. men and women are both very fertile in 30s. i doubt they thought that

      • M.A.F. says:

what? no men and women not very fertile in their 30’s. You are only fertile if your genetic make up allows you to be.

      • anna says:

oh jeez someone needs to have a biology lesson. More babies are probably born to people in their 30s in this country than ever before.

    • Marianne says:

Well antibiotics can null the effects on birth control. Not everyone might know that. Some people also think you can’t get pregnant if you’re breastfeeding or just had a miscarriage.

Some people just plain don’t use it, because it makes them gain weight or whatever. Condoms can break/slip off. Or you could be totally drunk and just not even think about it. People also might not use it, cause they think they can figure out when they’re ovulating.

      • Malificent says:

Which is why you use multiple forms of birth control if you are really serious about not getting pregnant.

  24. Dancinnancy says:

I like Ben and Morena and will be staying tuned and the details roll out.

  25. Kate says:

I wonder why they went public now. Neither of them are exactly pap targets, unless she’s already 5-6 months along they could have hidden it a while longer. It wouldn’t have been quite so obviously messy if there was a bit more distance from her divorce announcement.

Either she’s quite a bit further along than 3 months or her ex forced her hand somehow.

    • Jellybean says:

It went public because it went into court documents. I think she has successfully argued that the child should be based in New York until the divorce is settled, because there will travel issues later in the pregnancy.

  26. chaine says:

Ben, if she’ll do it with you, she’ll do it to you.

  27. Tara says:

Boy is she gorgeous. Anyway I watch Gotham and there is some chemistry there. You know what they say about the set. It is very erotic. It appears she was cheating on hubby with Gordon.

    • Abby_J says:

I like them together on the show, but I am so glad that they are actually making Barbara, Gordon’s Ex, more interesting this season. At least in the first episode!

  28. funckes says:

No wonder STDs are spreading at a rapid pace. What’s wrong with people? Damn by a condom.

  29. Axis2ClusterB says:

I’m so confused (and possibly hungover, but shh, that has no bearing.) I thought he was the one that Robin Wright was dating, but I guess I was wrong?

  30. Elizabeth says:

Well, this news is going to make the Gotham set a cheery place to work. Makes me wonder how the situation is going to be explained to the kids playing baby Batman and Catwoman, since this mess is now public knowledge. It must be confusing to learn two of your co-workers are expecting a baby and no one is being celebratory about it….

  31. ashley says:

I knew something was going on with these two, their chemistry on gotham is whew! This is messy, though. Hope her and ex work things out in the best interest of their son, wish her and ben the best.

  32. paranormalgirl says:

Not sure if she cheated, but Ben McKenzie certainly did. He was involved with someone not in the business who was more than a little surprised when they appeared together at the Emmys.

  33. saywhatwhen says:

Lol. Messy is when you are 5 months pregnant at your husband’s funeral. And, the baby ain’t his!

  34. Sarah says:

    Their body language sucks!

  35. Shirleygail says:

he looks terrified in these pictures. Also, their body language is not strong. I’m sad. This is not a good story.

  36. Abby says:

I actually watch gotham, it’s a good show, if a little over the top.

    Will be watching this unfold!

  37. Alana says:

That’s going to last … As long as Gotham is on and she is still in it

  38. WinnieCoopersMom says:

She reminds me of a giraffe with that neck. I can’t unsee it..she is obvi super gorgeous though. I’m just jealous she gets to have Ben in the sack. He must be incredible..drool..

  39. Rux says:

For one thing, men do this all the time for another, I am almost 100% certain, her hubby had been stepping out on her for a long time, even previous to their marriage.

She ran into the arms of Ben…oooh I am full of jeli. I am not judging her or throwing some Scarlett letter on her. I am very happy for them both.

I also recommend watching Gotham….you would be really surprised at how great the show is done and the acting is flick. Ben, although, knocks it out of the park (no punt intended) as Gordon.

  40. Marianne says:

She does look a tad bumpy in that dress. My guess is that she’s maybe at 4 months. I don’t watch Gotham, but how long has she been on the show?

  41. Esmerelda says:

Her kid is 23 months old, and she fell pregnant nine months previously. So that is almost three years where the marriage could have broken down. It could have even broken down immediately after she fell pregnant for all we know. It has been a year since she first started working on the Gotham set. And it seems that while she was living in New York, her husband stayed in LA. According to his imdb page he doesn’t seem to be working much, or at all. If he wasn’t working why didn’t he accompany her to New York to take care of their kid and be with her? Perhaps the move was a trial separation in itself.

She hasn’t ever dated someone famous before – she is more than happy to date an ‘ordinary’ guy, so I don’t know if ‘upgrading’ to a lead on a tv show was her sole motivation. Especially with her career actually being more successful than Ben’s (with Homeland and her lead in Deadpool she is the more famous one). And Ben seems like a really nice guy – he gave an interview where he talked about actually liking to date women rather than hook up and how he would never cheat because he could never live with himself if he did. He also seems to be pretty discreet with his dating life. People are saying that they look kind of awkward in photos – but if you watch clips of them together in Gotham they have really great chemistry and seem naturally affectionate with one another.

And on a completely superficial level – her soon to be ex-husband looks kind of sleazy : / I don’t know – maybe once the kid was born her husband just wasn’t supportive of her – she’s the main breadwinner and then he expected her to take care of the kid as well? Maybe she found a guy that wasn’t after her for her money, would be a good partner, and a good father to her kid(s)? I’ve always liked both of them so I’m more than willing to give them both the benefit of the doubt on this. And I wish them all the happiness in the world. I hope it works out. There’s a photo of them at the Emmy’s and she’s just gazing back and him and he’s smiling at her – they just seem really genuinely happy together. When people are properly in love they seem to have a softness when they look at each other. They seem to have that. Sigh.

  42. GoLightly says:

It’s funny how many people, who admittedly don’t know much about her, just want to jump to the conclusion that she’s “messy” and that she must have been running around on her “poor” husband. From what I know, her soon-to-be ex-husband and her have been estranged for quite a while.

  43. Chris R says:

I loved her on Firefly. Once I watched this panel for ComiCon on Youtube with her and the cast, and she totally took over moderating the panel (it needed it) and did it incredibly well. In interviews she’s always seemed smart, sarcastic, pithy, seemed confident, so it’s kinda surprising to see her struggle in a situation like this.

  44. Moi says:

I’m watching Gotham on Netflix (which is amazing and addictive), and I cannot unsee her as the “crazy eyes” chick from How I Met Your Mother.

  45. Sarah01 says:

I always think she’s got a very regal look about her and she could’ve done a lot better within Hollywood and men. She looked very mismatched with her first husband and even more mismatched with this dude.
    Shes a beauty.

  46. Marie-France says:

Morena reminds me of Ashley Judd, who is also gorgeous with short hair.

  47. frances egan says:

The heart has its reasons…….she seems kinda beautiful to me…..

  48. Jordan says:

She’s gorgeous and they look really weird together. Just don’t seem to fit.

  49. pato says:

do these people (meaning Hollywood) know what a condom is??

  50. IscoDisco says:

What?! Have been somewhat disconnected from all things celebrity the past year, so this comes as a surprise to me. Adored Ben in the OC, loved him in Southland, but haven’t had a chance to catch his work on Gotham. Not gonna lie, kinda disappointing, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .
