Taylor Swift performed ‘Satisfaction’ with Mick Jagger in Nashville: awkward?

Mick. Jagger. Nashville.

Taylor Swift has achieved Peak Friend Collecting, you guys. I’m not sure there’s anyone else to collect. What am I talking about? Of course there are more people to collect in her We Hate Katy Perry Club. Taylor’s tour came to Nashville this weekend and Taylor’s special guest stars included Steven Tyler, Alison Krauss, Leona Lewis and… Mick Jagger. MICK JAGGER. Taylor Swift. MICK JAGGER. Taylor Swift. Damn, Tay. Who’s next? JIMMY PAGE? ROGER WATERS? For the love of God.

And, as you can imagine, Tay-Tay got to sing “Satisfaction” with Mick. This is sort of what cracks me up about Tay-Tay’s friend collecting – she gets these big, cool friends to join her on stage and then they usually duet on one of their songs (not one of Taylor’s) and the results are often… awkward. Yes, let’s go with awkward. Here’s Taylor treating “Satisfaction” like it’s “Bad Blood.”

I had to turn it off after about 45 seconds because *awkward hip thrust* I was having problems *stiff hair toss* with the choreography. Plus, whoever put Taylor in this black jumpsuit absolutely hates her.

Just FYI: Mick and Tay-Tay have known each other for a few years and they even performed together back in 2013. So, this didn’t come out of nowhere. Still… I do have to wonder, does Mick Jagger hate Katy Perry now too?

Not the best singer or dancer, but she’s smart. I feel some tinge of dislike, but even I have to admit she’s smart (in a business-woman kind of way, anyway. If only I liked her music as much as 12 year olds do…)

    Edit to add:

Mick Jagger is a smart business-man too (though with more musical talent).

    • LA Juice says:

I just stopped in to say that i never even focused on Taylor- its the eternal awkwardness of the Mick Jagger moves that will forever terrify me.

  2. mimif says:

I think I’m more grossed out by that first pic than I am with whatever the ffff Kimberly Kardashian is wearing today.

  3. It'sJustBlance says:

Awww, she’s adorable but she has no booty. Bless her little booty-less heart.

In fairness, I had nothing until I had kids so I can’t talk.

  4. aims says:

Awkward! ! Tryhard, thirsty, ridiculous, exhausting. Those are a few words, take your pick.

  5. Bishg says:

Am I the only one who thinks this long line of “friends” paying tribute to Taylor is totally random and off-putting?
Sounds like they’re ALL desperate for publicity.

    • perplexed says:

      >>Sounds like they’re ALL desperate for publicity.

      Yeah, that struck me too.

      • mimif says:

        Paying gigs, right?

      • perplexed says:

Yeah, they get paid but the publicity helps all of them. Mick Jagger is smart enough to know that he can get younger people interested in his music by playing a Taylor Swift concert. I wouldn’t necessarily characterize him as desperate since he’s savvy end fiscally shrewd but when Kobe Bryant showed up at one of those gigs I was, well, perplexed. I didn’t get the point. Ditto for Lisa Kudrow.

    • Katydid20 says:

Agreed. Plus there’s the fact that she never reciprocates with her girl squad – they are always there to support her, she is never there to support them when they are the one with a project. Someone needs to tell Swifty that that isn’t how “friendship” works.

      • Bishg says:

        Amen to that!!
When has Taylor been seen supporting Karlie Kloss or Gigi Hadid just one of the several times they have walked the runway at the most important important fashion events worldwide?
When did she guest-star on Girls?
Or when did she join Selena or Lorde at ANY of their concerts?
she claims to be best pal with half of Victoria Secret’s models but she was only there as the main musical guest, she never cared to participate in any of their other work engagements… all these relationships sound very fake and contrived. She’s a smart business woman, I give her props for that, but she must stop shoving down our throats all this bulls**it about girl-power and being there for each other. Plus, I’ve always side-eyed anyone who claimed to have dozens of best friends.

      • Nephelim says:

        Good point
        I´ll never thought about that!

  6. blueb says:

Umm… why does Mick Jagger have to hate Katy Perry just because he performed with Taylor Swift?

  7. Belle Epoch says:

She embarrassed herself. She should have just done backup and let him loose.

  8. Astrid says:

I wouldn’t know a Taylor Swift or Kay Perry song if it came on my radio station, I just follow the gossip surrounding these pop stars. I am, however, a huge Stones fan….until 10 minutes I ago when I read this article. I’m so disappointed! Mick…why?

  9. Marigold says:

I can barely tolerate looking at the pictures without experiencing unbearable second-hand embarrassment so the video is absolutely out of the question.

    • Lauren II says:

Mick IS Sexy and can dance. He is over 40 years older than Taylor and still has charisma. Mick grinds and oozes primal energy.

I could not endure till the end of the video. Taylor is flailing and stomping about like a deranged giraffe. It’s painful to watch.

Taylor is coming to Toronto this weekend. I was offered a free ticket worth $155.00.
      No thanks.

  10. Allie says:

It makes me sad that everybody that goes on stage with her have no standards. She may be genuinely nice, but I would hope that a legend like Mick Jagger would stay in his own lane, and not lower his standards to gain some relevancy with the younger crowd. I’m exhausted seeing so many getting called up. Taylor’s who HAS to be enormous. It just has to be.

  11. Kate says:

I was there. Not awkward. Lots of fun actually. Haters gonna hate, hate, hate …..

  12. cynthia says:

Taylor “Horace Slughorn” Swift. Wanna bet she has a wall of framed pictures of all her collectibles?.
Beyonce brought out Michelle Obama yesterday. It reminded me of Swifty

    • mia girl says:

While I do agree that Swifty likely has a collection of pictures of all her 1989 concert “conquests”… I respectfully disagree about Beyonce.

I’m guessing you are referring to Beyoncé bringing Michelle Obama to the stage at the 2015 Global Citizen Festival to announce the #62MillionGirls initiative to help educate girls around the world. I would not really call that similar to Swifty aggrandizing herself by who she can get to strut on her stage.

    • Linn says:

Nah. Horace Slughorn liked to be the man behind the scenes and befriend the people in the limelight.
With Taylor Swift it’s the opposite. With a few exceptions SHE is the famous one and everybody else is hoping to get media attention by being seen with her.

I’m more embarassed by the people following her than by Taylor herself.

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

I agree – the Obama/Beyonce friendship is so showmance-y..they like always need to “prove” what great “friends” they are. Michelle lives for celebrity PR stunts..always hopping on the Hollywood bandwagon every chance she gets. Before people get in a tizzy, consider all her unnecessary PR stunts..appearing in an episode of Nashville..guest video for the Oscars..this woman LOVES for her face to be shown in the celeb circles. VERY odd for a First Lady.

  13. Rainbow says:

    Awkward!!
No, JIMMY PAGE and ROGER WATERS would never perform with Taylor. This is blasphemy!
I’m sure that they have no idea who she is.

  14. Nancy says:

Why Mick why? He has officially become a grandpa. Paul McCartney with Rihanna was cool, because she is….but this? Oh my word, I can’t let my mom see this or she will weep.

    • Arpeggi says:

Oh! To be fair, Mick has always done that kind of stuff, I’m not particularly surprised. He loves hanging out with other celebrities (and cute girls). I would have been shocked and sad if it had been Keith on stage.

    • FingerBinger says:

Paul McCartney with Kanye West wasn’t cool imo.

  15. Kate says:

I’ve always disliked Taylor Swift’s music and find her persona quite juvenile. On the other hand, Katy Perry is talentless and robotic. I truly took no sides in that middle school nonsense. And then I saw Katy Perry’s IG photo of herself on Machu Picchu, nearly went into convulsions as I thought impulsively, “Oh dear lord, that dumb b*tch is wearing a dress on Machu Picchu,” and now, irrationally, I loathe that talentless robot. This video of Taylor Swift looking foolish and by extension making Mick Jagger look so darn old and desperate is almost taking me to that same level of hatred.

  16. Jessica says:

First of all, Mick is the pinnacle. I love Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, but there is no higher than Mick. Maybe Paul McCartney, but he can’t dance for shite.

Secondly, Mick is all for the publicity of getting on stage with the likes of Taylor Swift, dancing circles around her scrawny tush and reminding everyone he’s still got the moves. He learned from the best: Tina Turner. In another life, he IS Tina Turner. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry are really nothing to him.

    • mia girl says:

This. I watched some of the video (couldn’t get through her awkwardness).
But from what I saw, Mick was all about slaying it and showing how it’s done. At age 72 Mick’s voice and moves are still strong! All I could think re: Taylor Swift is when you are on the stage with greatness, don’t try to keep up. Especially if you don’t naturally have great dance moves or a great voice.

  17. Skins says:

    Very unnecessary Mick

  18. Riru says:

It reminded me to the Nashville episode of Aerosmith’s frontman with Juliette Barnes, ick ick

  19. NewWester says:

I wonder if Taylor has contacted Tina Turner, Patti Labelle or Aretha Franklin to join her on stage?

  20. InvaderTak says:

Mick at 72 and God know how many hip replacements can perform better than someone who is billed as a top live act today. Uhg.

  21. Tulip says:

Bah, it’s a paying gig and everybody wins. Plus business types like other business types.

One question though-where does she go from here? Once she’s gone through all the top brass in the music industry, will she expand into acting, or will she try to BE the top brass that up and coming talent want to be seen with? Because while she strikes me as good with business deals, she doesn’t necssarily have the chops to be a legend in her own right outside of hustling for money. Kudos to her if she does actually does take time to do something transformitive-that would be amazing-but…I dont see that happening, so….what’s next?

  22. Bej says:

For G’s sake, Awkward of course. Mick for his 72 or whatever years, bought some energy and stage presence, Tay Tay, exhibited the sexuality of a limp noodle, as usual. Please lets not mention her ‘singing’

  23. kri says:

If Jack White gets up there with Jame Gumb Barbie watch out cause it is the END. She is starting to make me almost as nervous as The Donut Abuser. Please stop trying to show us how everyone wants you. Please. Where is Ed Sheeran or Calvin?! Come get her!!!!!

  24. iheartgossip says:

She is lucky she has the money to hire the right PR firm cause WOW & YIKES!

  25. Louise177 says:

I think calling all of the people who perform with Taylor her friends are over-reaching. Most will never see her again. Taylor thinks she’s cool but I don’t think she realizes how cheesy she is, especially when she’s dancing. She has no rhythm and grace.
