Duchess Kate is reportedly ‘mortified’ by all of negativity over her bangs

wenn22938153

I’ll admit it, I kind of just wanted to write this post because we got these photos – of Duchess Kate in prison on Friday – later than I expected, and I just wanted to use the pics. As you can see in these photos, Kate really was especially animated during her prison visit, and it was almost like she was making an effort to be publicly seen as engaging with something, anything. I guess I should give Kate some begrudging credit too – she wasn’t publicly fussing with her hair in half the photos, like usual. But I kind of wanted her to fuss with it a little bit, considering her shaggy-dog gringe/bangs were in her eyes half the time. And it’s the gringe that is the focus of this OK Mag/Closer story. Apparently, Kate now realizes the shaggy-dog bangs were a mistake. The Gringe of Regret!

According to Ok! Magazine, the Duchess of Cambridge, 33, is facing major backlash over her new bangs — and thus regrets debuting her updated hairstyle!

“Kate is quite mortified by all the fuss people have been making,” a royal insider told the entertainment news outlet. “She wanted to freshen up her look, so she got some bangs. But like many women who make that decision, she quickly regretted it! Luckily, she has healthy hair that grows very fast.”

“She really should have consulted a stylist before her first appearance,” the source added. “She knows [her new hair] wasn’t well received.”

The royal is “determined to get back on track” with her appearance, as she “doesn’t want to reflect poorly on the royal family.”

[From Closer Weekly]

I chuckled at the idea that the BANGS would reflect poorly on the monarchy. Yes, Kate, it’s the bangs! Not your vacation-happy ways, not your inability to do a handful of events without a multi-month build-up and massive shaming campaign by the press. It’s totally the bangs trauma. Anyway, I suspect – as many of you have suggested – that the bangs were just Kate’s way of dealing with postpartum hair loss. Incidentally, for those of us on Wiglet Watch, I’m pretty sure Kate was wearing a hair “fall” at the back.

Get over it, it’s hair, it will grow back. Michelle Obama did the same thing as many of us did at one point or the other. Hair today, gone tomorrow.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Really, so ridiculous that she can’t have a bad haircut without everyone going nuts. It grows, people.

      • Red Snapper says:

Serious question: Are people more concerned by her bangs or her laziness? I don’t just mean the commenters here, I mean in the world generally.

      • Sixer says:

A proper understanding of her laziness hasn’t really filtered through to the hoi polloi yet, has it? That’s how I see it. Only royal watchers are paying that much attention and there aren’t that many of them. And so far, the press has only really done a bit of hinting at it.

      • Betti says:

The thing with Katie Bucket is that normally when she gets a new ‘do’ the press fall over themselves with sugar praise – this time its been the opposite.

The negativity of the ‘gringe’ is a passive aggressive dig at the obvious fact that she puts more time into her appearance than her duties as a senior royal.

The tide has turned on these 2 – get the popcorn ladies.

      • LAK says:

Sixer: I think the hoi polloi know. It’s not expressed as succinctly as royal watchers express it, but they know. I occasionally volunteer with a teen group and Kate Middleton has become a verb in their teenspeak. It used to mean to stalk and marry a rich man rather than work for yourself, these days they use mean to never lift a finger because somebody else will pick up the slack.

Every so often when news do their ‘man on the street’ segments whereby random strangers are asked their opinion, the answer with regards Kate is she doesn’t do anything or since she had the babies she’s a SAHM. It’s never a positive response as it was during the halcyon days post wedding.

And that’s before you look at the internet. Across the board, sentiment has gone from she’s amazing to waste of space.

      • frisbee says:

@ LAK, and they have a whole PR operation so she must be aware that people think she’s lazy and have no respect for her and still doesn’t give a toss.
I think I’d have more respect for them if they just owned their ‘Royal, privileged, lazy rich’ status. What’s really grating now are the pap walk appearances followed by the expectation of good PR merely for turning up. They get money for nothing (we can’t do anything about that – yet) and expect praise and support for nothing as well.

Money for Nothing – Dire Straits – bugger – all day earworm! 🙁

      • Sixer says:

LAK – that makes me happy!

      • Sabrine says:

The bangs make her look younger. They suit her. She should just ignore the negative press. Any change she makes will be criticized by some. She needs to be confident and do what she wants, not what other people want.

      • notasugarhere says:

LAK, you have to love teens. As crazy as they drive me, they often call it like they see it. They’ve made her behavior a verb twice over, once for stalking and once for laziness? Classic. Such a fabulous role model for our youth.

      • bluhare says:

Yeah, Frisbee!! I read your post and the first thing I thought of was “and the chicks for free”. DAMNYOUANDYOUREARWORM!

      • frisbee says:

        @ bluhare – soz!

      • Lauren II says:

Kate’s jowls are distracting too. Why is she aging so rapidly? Both Kate and her sister are aging terribly. Very puzzling.

      • Cricket says:

We got to install microwave ovens CUSTOM KITCHEN deliveries….

        Love it!

    • Olenna says:

Hopefully, this story is made up. If not, it’s sad that the only news that gets filtered to her through her PR is about her hair and not her work ethic.

      • evermore says:

It took bad bangs or bang commentary to get her attention to what the press, public says about her?
Wow. She lacks substance and is vapid, if true.

Someone saw her in person on recent outing and said, she’s looking really worn and the makeup was CAKED On.
How can someone with all her help and free time, look worn? I was surprised, but that’s what the person said …and Don’t believe the photoshopp.

I loved her outfit on the prison visit though, very nice look for her.

      • Sopha says:

I think it probably is, at any rate the source isn’t British. Bangs is totally an American word.

      • Betti says:

@evermore – its the smoking, constant dieting and tanning that’s aging her. I’ve seen her in person too and yes her makeup is always caked on – in fact i don’t think i’ve ever seen a picture of her without any.

There are photo’s out that that haven’t been photoshopped and they show her skin isn’t that great; looks dry and leathery (from all the tanning). Wearing heavy makeup all the time damages the skin and can inflame excema, acne and other skin conditions. I have suffered from excema on and off since i was 12 and it can flair up if i wear heavy makeup constantly.

      • evermore says:

Interesting …I had forgot that she smokes.

      • wolfie says:

Poor snowflake, if she actually believes this red herring story, describing her problem as her hair.

      • Pondering thoughts says:

        The dieting…
She has dieted away all that fat in the skin on her face that makes you look a bit more youthful. That is why she always looks better in the face when pregnant. Those few pregnancy fat pounds do wonders for her.
But I guess after spending four-figured sums on designer clothes one has to maintain the figure to fit into those things.

When she married William she really shouldn’t have set her goal at becoming a skeletal princess. She should have set her goal at becoming an interesting and beloved Royal with a few causes.

    • HH says:

Her bangs are definitely the final confirmation that her hair is a safety blanket. It seems whenever she wants a “new look” she opts for only doing something with her bangs. She would do best cutting about 4 inches off (and she would still have long hair). Prior to her recent bob, Queen Letizia of Spain was a very good example of well-styled, sophisticated longer hair. It seems that Kate doesn’t want advice on her hair, clothing, presentation skills, work, etc. She has all of these experts and doesn’t give a damn about their expertise.

      • bluhare says:

I am reminded of the Hollywood rule. If you don ‘t want people to notice anything else, cut your hair. That being said, I’ve looked and don’t see anything. 🙂

    • Egla says:

I had bangs for a very long time (26 years). One day i just decided to grow them. 9 years later still haven’t regretted the decision. It takes time and effort to keep them and look good. I looked younger but what a pain in the a$$ and usually i looked a young mess :p

  2. Goats on the Roof says:

Because the ill-advised bangs are totally what’s reflecting badly on the BRF here…This woman has no substance. None. If she did, she’d take a look at her behaviour and realise that the bangs are number 103 on the list of things she needs to improve to better represent the royal family.

    • Tanya S says:

I agree with you 100% Goats. The woman is unbelievable.

      • qwerty says:

She wouldn’t need to concentrate on people’s opinion on her fringe if she had ANYTHING other to show for all the money and time she has.

    • Vava says:

She said in the engagement interview that she doesn’t care what people think of her, so I doubt she cares what anyone thinks about her hair. But yeah, this would be low on the list of things she could improve upon to better represent the Royal Family. The article is a big joke.

      • Izzy says:

If that’s what she said, SHE LIED. Truly. If she didn’t care, would she be such a clotheshorse, or obsessed with tans?

It’s just that she’s now finally starting to understand how much pressure a negative image can bring. She just didn’t think before that it would matter to her.

      • FLORC says:

        Izzy
She did say that. That she didn’t care what anyone thought about her and only what William thinks matters.

I think this article is a spin off of last time Kate had bangs. At an event it was said it was all she would talk about. Her new hair and if people would like it or hate it.

My Wiglet Watch signal is pinging like hell here too.

  3. MelissaManifesto says:

I’m always under the impression that Catherine has a shaky personality that can be easily cracked by criticism over her looks and/or her indulgences.

    • Betti says:

She is a narcisstic woman-child who doesn’t know how to deal with criticism. Her appearance is all she has to sell to us – there is no charm, intellect, wit or humanitarian ambitions. All she has ever wanted is validation on how pretty she is with her luscious hair and new dress with matching shoes. Mean but true.

  4. Thinker says:

Not mortified by the accusations of laziness, but mortified by a differing of opinions on a very minor haircut. The superficiality runs deep with this one.

  5. Lilacflowers says:

Maybe if she did some actual work, people would have other things to talk about instead of her hair?

    • Imo says:

This doesn’t reflect reality, although a worthy sentiment. The truth is that no matter what she does the conversation would be about her appearance. The queen says words and does things but people want pastel suits, crown jewels and Easter hats. Everyone can talk about the leg of doom, Angelina’s boob status, her hit and miss wardrobe, anorexia watch etc etc but few could elucidate the top 3 causes she champions in the UN. Camilla is a long time fundraiser for osteoporosis research but her looks are the #2 topic of conversation about her – always.
Kate should work because it is the right thing to do but it is fantasy to think that would change the public narrative – especially on a gossip site.

      • candice says:

Looks are never going to be completely absent from the story, but seriously, in a story about Princess Anne or Harry, how much attention has been paid on their outfits and accessories? Anne’s never been a fashion plate and never even tried imo. She’s been “no nonsense” “let’s get to work” from day one. ON the contrary, Kate is style over substance. Once you take away the pricey clothes and accessories, she’s an empty vessel. Sad.

      • aaa says:

        @Imo,
        Agree.

        @candice,
The key word in your comment is attention. Princess Anne does hundreds of engagements a year and her work gets very little attention, the most ink I’ve seen her get recently is about her recycling dresses.

People may not pay attention to Harry’s outfits, but they care about his facial hair or him making girls get giggly when in his presence. However I do think that Harry does have a pretty good hit ratio when it comes to raising awareness for the causes he’s advocating.

      • Imo says:

        Candice
Well, in a perfect world perhaps but do you not realize there are NO Anne posts here and the reason is obvious. Even the Harry posts are objectifying and frivolous. No harm done, imo, but let’s be honest about what people want out of their celebrities.

        aaa
You said it better than I did 🙂

      • FLORC says:

what aaa said. just reading it now.

      • Citresse says:

Yes, Princess Anne works so much that no one really seems to care that she never seems to change her hair. In fact, has she ever really changed her hair?

      • Caroline says:

Thing is there are hardly any stories about Princess Anne. She slaves away but only gets a tiny mention in the British press. Kate’s lack of work is being noticed by the general public in Britain. My mother sometimes watches a popular lunchtime programme with women panellists on one of the main TV channels and last week it apparently focused on lack of public duties by Kate and William too, I think.

      • Fluff says:

Princess Anne is attacked constantly in the press for looking “horsey” over the decades. It’s probably what she’s best known for, being the “ugly, horsey one.” What a woman in the public eye does always comes second to her looks, unfortunately.

    • Vava says:

      don’t hold your breath!

  6. LAK says:

Even though this one is from OK/closer, I actually believe it as her hair is the one thing Kate had the Palace release a statement of deflection.

    Wiglet watch: totally.

I’d go as far as saying she’s probably wearing extentions at the back. Her hair is thicker here than it was during the year post wedding and she was wearing extensions then too.

    • shannon says:

Agreed. Lainey had pics once, I think? that clearly showed where she was wearing extensions. That said, her bangs are pretty tragic.

    • evermore says:

It totally look like the back is extension added. It looks a bit fake.

    • Katydid20 says:

Definitely extensions. I think that’s why they added that bit about her “hair grows really fast” or whatever – when her bangs magically disappear or are longer, she can just say it’s her super healthy hair and not extensions 🙂

  7. boredblond says:

I really doubt she’s mortified over what people think of her hair…and I like the bangs.

  8. aaa says:

Since Kate got the bangs I thought she looks like Margot Kidder, but she really looks like her in the third picture.

I neither love nor hate the bangs, but if Kate likes wearing her hair long to work events, her hair style for the prison visit is a good choice because it is also tucked back. I think keeping her hair behind her shoulders would be even better.

  9. Betti says:

I know OK is a rag but still – just goes to show how vain and vapid our future Queen truly is.

We shouldn’t be surprised either way – she always has been all about her appearance. Its all she has to sell us.

  10. ell says:

most people don’t look good with bangs, no matter how pretty they are. you need a certain face shape to pull it off, and i can only think of a bunch of women who do, e.g. the actress who played jenny in the l word, that zooey actress and alexa chung. everyone else looks better without bangs.

  11. Badoosh says:

Has anyone thought about the fact that she cut bangs because of post partum hair loss? I have tiny hairs growing all over my hairline and am seriously pondering bangs to cover them up!

    • Deedee says:

Extensions also cause hair loss. All the blowouts she gets can cause breakage. I tend to believe, as others have noted, that she had some work done and this is a distraction fringe. It’s pretty obvious that she’s added in a fall of hair in the back as well.

      • kaiko says:

Yep, bangs hide a brow or face lift quite well. Google Suzanne Somers. Considering her obvious facial work in recent photos, KMidd, IMO, probably had them cut to give cover until the scars are better healed. I wouldn’t be so harsh if it wasn’t so darn apparent that her face has been drastically tightened and her upper lip now has different contour.

      • Citresse says:

If Kate got a facelift then she needs to get her money back. I hadn’t noticed the extent of her jowls until the prison visit.

    • MissusAitch says:

I agree. I had to have a very similar fringe cut in after giving birth to my twins as I lost a lot of hair from the front of my head, thankfully it’s grown back now!

  12. Sixer says:

Like the thing to note about Katie Bucket is her FRINGE. Good diversion tactic, #poorjason.

  13. Fluff says:

It’s so weird hearing the word “bangs” thrown around to mean hair in a British context. Like, intellectually I know that’s what Americans call it, it’s still weird to read about “Duchess Kate’s bangs!”

  14. lila fowler says:

She is starting to look like my basset hound.

  15. minx says:

I don’t mind the bangs but she needs to have the rest of her hair shorter then, IMO. The bangs with long hair look dated.

  16. candice says:

What I find disturbing and as others have pointed out too is how she is mortified by opinions on her hair extensions but couldn’t care less what they think about her lack of accomplishments and work ethic. SMH….

    • evermore says:

      .

      yes, sad really.

    • notasugarhere says:

She did imply that she doesn’t worry about what people think, only what William thinks. That she would be so vain as to worry about comments on her appearance but not her work? Wouldn’t surprise me.

Recent discussion on here have touched on the idea that she may actually think she is working hard and doing what she’s supposed to do. She’s basically never worked but spent 10 years vacationing, shopping, and waiting for the phone to ring.

For her to go out and do one hour-long engagement, for her that is a huge amount of work. The year she did 100+ engagements she nattered on about how it had been such hard work, so busy, and that she hoped things would slow down the next year. She has no concept of a 50+ hour work week and 2 weeks of vacation a year.

      • Deedee says:

But surely she sees the calendars of other royals, including those way down the totem pole, and the elderly ones, and can see for herself that her numbers are shamefully low? I suspect WillNot doesn’t want her having more than him and his efforts are less than stellar, so the two of them are in agreement to use any excuse to be lazy.

      • Betti says:

“For her to go out and do one hour-long engagement, for her that is a huge amount of work.” While this is true if she finds it that taxing then she should space them out and in regular intervals, rather than the 2 weeks burst 2-3 times a years that seems to be her habit.

If she can’t cope with 100+ a year then god help her when she becomes Princess of Wales and the expectation that she will have to double that number. All that work might kill the poor snowkflake. But she won’t change as she has no concept of what work actually means – so she’s like her husband in the respect that they don’t know #whateverworkmeans.

They need a kick up the ass.

    • Christin says:

Perhaps someone should tell her she will have to have one inch of hair/weave cut off for each engagement she refuses to do. That might solve the issue!

  17. rianic says:

I think she was going for a Princess Mary look, but the fringe is too heavy.

  18. waitwhat says:

Gotta say, as much as I dislike the gringe, she looks better than she has in years- since her wedding in fact. Money well spent dear!

  19. COSquared says:

Jason seems to be running out of ideas. Shame.

    • Betti says:

Maybe we should start a new hashtag for him #helpjason.

      • COSquared says:

Yessss! #helpjason sounds awesome! Let’s try #helpnormalbill or #helpkatiebucket! Who knows, in a few years’ time we’ll be seeing this as a DM headline. “#helpnormalbill! Being is #sonormal is sooo tiring, cries the #normal prince”.

      • belle de jour says:

And for the hair. #cringegringe #cringefringe

    • Vava says:

Either that, or he’s making a dig at the Prickly Princess. The narrative is such a joke, and illustrates how foolish she really is.

  20. Murphy says:

THATS why she is mortified? Not because she is a lazy spoiled limpet who has embarrassed the crown?

    • Pipa says:

      +1000
      VAIN , Selfish!

…of NO value to HM/ POW/ The Monarchy and people funding lazy *Willnot, two children (carol the meddletons) pampered, luxury on permanent vacation.

Face looks hard and worn for someone who NEVER ‘worked’, pampered over 15 years, and with many Staff.

New mum, Princess Maddy Sweden, could fly from her home in London to Sweden, to attend royal duties with her family.

    • jt says:

yep and is still embarrassing the crown, a 33 year old with bangs flying all over like a 12 year old, girl needs to know her face does not lie, she has aged terribly, nature is cruel to her, if this woman was a beauty, Lord knows what the RF would have to endure, she is soo overrated on her looks department. who would look at her twice if she was not married to a prince shes a plain jane !!

  21. sassy says:

forgive my ignorance but i really know absolutely nothing about the royal family but how old is she ?? 40-45??? she looks very tired and run down……

    • Olenna says:

She is only 33. IMO, she didn’t give her body enough rest, recovery and nourishment between having George and Charlotte, and the last one could have waited another year for Kate’s own good. But, apparently, she starts a strict exercise and diet regime right after each birth. As mentioned up-thread, dieting and over-exercising are taking its toll. But, her weight seems to be her priority.

      • Vava says:

And it always shows in her face.

      • Christin says:

Her mother has a decent figure, but I think she looks older than her actual age as well. So possibly add genetics to the list. She and Will both look about 10 years older than they are.

      • qwerty says:

Christin, it’s not genes, it’s their love of tanning and smoking. I don’t have proof Carole smokes too but I doubt she doesn’t…

  22. lowercaselois says:

I don’t understand why bangs are bad. I think depending on how the hair is cut , hair style and your face structure, some women look nice in bangs.

    • Christin says:

I agree. Today I had my grown out fringe cut into a deep side sweep again, because it is more flattering for my face.

    • India Andrews says:

I have a long face so bangs are a friends.

Like others have pointed out the real tragedy is how Kate is worried about her appearance not comments on her work ethic.

  23. realitycheck says:

She should be mortified about all the negativity regarding her work ethic. She should be mortified that she does less than the 80 year old queen. This girl has no class, she shouldn’t be a public figure.

    • Pipa says:

      Amen – spot on!

Imagine Professionals, aristos having to curtsey, converse to an undignified mess – yuk, no respect.

      • Citresse says:

I’m pretty sure this has been discussed, but once William is POW, must Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie curtsey to Kate?

      • LAK says:

Citresse: Yes. Considering that Anne and Alexandra strongly objected to curtseying to Camilla even though she’s POW hence the rule change to favour blood Princes, the same rule applies to Kate and the Yorkies whenever Kate is on her own without William.

      • jt says:

I will be mean, to curtesy to this, NEVER she is crap!!

    • notasugarhere says:

Quick note, Her Majesty is 89.

  24. seesittellsit says:

Ah Kate is learning what all of us find out sooner or later: life is hard, then you die. All our sympathies, Kate. BTW, can I try that sapphire on some time?

  25. hmmm says:

Wouldn’t an insider use the word ‘fringe’?

Meh. We know she’s shallow. I can actually imagine drama around her hair, though.

  26. Lea says:

    Wow she looks zero interested

    • Tanya S says:

I thought the same thing Lea. She looks like she is mentally counting down until she can leave the place.

I feel sorry for whoever is trying to get her attention in that pic. There is just no interest whatsoever

  27. HoustonGrl says:

I guess it makes sense. She’s obviously very concerned about her looks and spends a lot of time on her hair. I’d venture to say it’s actually what she’s most concerned about.

  28. ickythump says:

THIS is what she is mortified about? Says it all……shallow as a worm’s grave.

    • Violet says:

The only other time KP made a press statement was regarding the scar on her head, to kill the wiglet rumours (I’d rather everyone thought I’ve had a lobotomy than to admit parts of my hair are fake! ) Her image is all it seems that the Duchess is concerned about. She is practically consumed to the point of being imprisoned by her own vanity. The press finally figured out how to get to her – and it is to simply criticise her looks.

    • India Andrews says:

Remember when one of her extensions showed and KP quickly came out with a story about a surgery scar. Same thing. The hoi polloi already were commenting on her work ethic but it was the hair criticism that got Kate’s attention.

  29. Fallon says:

I can’t believe how worn she looks. She’s only two years older than me, but I never tanned, don’t smoke, don’t drink – which apparently does make quite a difference as one ages.

I don’t mind the fringe terribly.

    • pat01 says:

A lot of it is due to inadequate nutrition and over-exercising. She’s probably heading down the road to osteoporosis — seriously.

    • FuefinaWG says:

I have a sister who’s 12 years older than me. She smokes and always had a tan when she was younger. I don’t smoke, haven’t tanned since I was 21, and started using eye cream that same year. I seriously look 10 years younger than my actual age (people would say things in passing all the time but when I changed doctors a few years ago my new doctor kept looking at my chart and then finally asked my age. When I confirmed what was on the chart she said, “Has anyone told you that you look 10 years younger?” and that’s when I finally believed it.)
I was recently embarrassed when my sister and I were together and someone thought she was my Mom because we look like we have a 20 year age difference.
      Kids: don’t smoke; don’t tan.

      • Vava says:

That’s actually pretty cool that you look so much younger than your age.

      • India Andrews says:

I did the same thing but started in my teens. People never guess that I’m forty. Never. I shock them when I mention it in conversation.

You should see the look on mens’ faces. They thought I would change my mind about having children and look so disappointed when they realize I’m forty and don’t want children. They always think I’m in my early thirties.

  30. Nancy says:

I don’t care about her bangs one whit; it’s her shameful lack of work ethic and giving back for all of her privilege that gets me riled.

  31. anne_000 says:

Seriously though? If there was an actual royal insider who said this, was he/she being sarcastic? I can’t believe anybody would say what this insider said without knowing that it would make Kate look vain and superficial.

    • frisbee says:

You would think wouldn’t you? But then again in the last couple of weeks we have had stories that she’s getting ready to ‘return to the mad whirl’ of her life after ‘maternity leave’ (I can barely type that one! she clearly hasn’t got a ‘mad whirl’ in her) Then an attempt to possibly elicit sympathy over the travelling distance between EAAA, Anmer and Kensington which is why they are spending less and less time at Anmer (and that bloody tennis court) and now we are in the midst of #Gringegate. The PR seem to be attempting to elicit the sympathy vote with no basis whatsoever so that’s pretty insulting. It all smacks of Jason desperation to me. Maybe that should be Jason’s new tag ? #Jasondesperation.

  32. The bangs are too heavy, maybe they wouldn’t look so bad if they were wispy, but these are some domineering bangs!

  33. Vivien says:

Her bangs are long enough she can just pin them back or change the middle part to side swept. I don’t get it? Who does her hair? Can’t they see it’s not flattering? Seriously…put some bobby pins in your hair and get to work lady!

  34. I have a question for those of you in the know…I was always under the impression that the woman who would eventually end up as Queen had to be a virgin when married into the royal family. Didn’t Diana have to have a physical examination to prove that she “was worthy?” Or am I mistaken about this?
Certainly Kate wouldn’t pass such an examination after living with William for the length of time she did.

    • LAK says:

It’s not so much that the woman had to be a virgin, more that she didn’t have a past. Camilla had a past, Diana did not. Kate, despite being with William all these years, doesn’t have a past.

All of that said, that sort of attitude has gone by the way side. It’s pure coincidence that Kate doesn’t have a past because they met when both were young and as far as we know Kate has never stepped out on William.

It once mattered, just like divorce once mattered. These days, meh!!

      • notasugarhere says:

LAK, she had 2-3 ex’s at the wedding, including the fellow she met through yachting and with whom she went on a two week vacation. You are welcome to think they slept in separate bedrooms.

      • LAK says:

Nota: I didn’t mean to imply that Kate was a virgin when she met William. Ex-BF wedding guests aside, there is an alleged quote attributed to one of William’s friends at St Andrews that pretty much puts paid to the idea that she was a virgin. I categorise her as not a virgin, but not too many BFs to constitute a past.

      • Citresse says:

Looking back, I’m kind of surprised the engagement to Fergie (her past) was permitted especially when you consider it was only five years after the “wedding of the century” (Charles and Diana) or there was a real double standard at that time ie- what was considered acceptable for Charles, the heir, vs his siblings.

      • notasugarhere says:

Fergie’s past was definitely remarked on though. I remember there was a lot of discussion from the television commentators about whether or not she would wear her hair down. The tradition was that only virgins could wear their hair down on their wedding day.

      • Lucky Charm says:

Citresse, by the time Andrew and Sarah got married, Diana had already given birth to the heir and the spare, so it was already unlikely Andrew would become King. There probably was a double standard in play, too, between what was acceptable for the heir and for everyone else.

    • aaa says:

The virgin requirement is not a long-standing tradition, although it was probably assumed that brides, royal and non-royal, were virgins on their wedding days. Prince Charles’ great-uncle Louis Mountbatten was the one who established the criteria regarding suitability to being Prince Charles’ wife, and being a virgin/having no past was one of the criteria.

In previous generations, royals, particularly the heirs, married other royals.

  35. jmj424 says:

I think the big problem with her bangs was the length. They immediately looked like they were at the awkward trying to grow them out stage.

  36. Jaded says:

If she thinks hair-shaming is her only big issue, girl needs a brain transplant – preferably with one that has more than the 2 cells currently occupying her empty, lazy head.

  37. scottiegal says:

This reminds me of an episode of Jack and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog on Adult Swim. Triumph tries to break Apple’s SIRI. He finally insinuates that she’s fat and she becomes useless. Jack takes over for her.
If you have it on demand you should watch it.

  38. Jade says:

Kate is now a verb? I love it. Does Willnot get his own verb too?

  39. Razorpuss says:

I think the bangs look fine, certainly nothing to lose sleep (or work) over. I should have put work in air quotes, because wow, how can the concept of 2 charity events a week be considered work? I work full time and volunteer at the Humane Society and I love it. For 2 full years twice a week I cleaned cages and walked the more “rambunctious ” dogs. Now, on top of the grunt work, once a week, I get to cuddle the newborn kittens to help socialize them. So rewarding, even though I track dog hair and cat litter into my car. If I had the time I would volunteer at the battered women’s shelter and the methadone clinic.

I’m not saying my halo is in the mail, in fact I’m willing to bet if you asked any of us middle-class peasants that Will and Kate so desperately want to emulate would have the same aspirations. Kind of tough when you have bills and the whatnot, though.

Enjoy your 3 week vacation to Mosquito, Kate! (Typo and it stays ). You must be exhausted from doing nothing.

  40. Mary Carol says:

She should be mortified over that teenaged eye make up. Good lord. The woman has passed her 20th birthday, and her 30th birthday. She needs to update her eye make up. Can you imagine that crap at 40? It’s aging her now,

  41. The Original Mia says:

All I could do was laugh at the headlines. As usual with her, it’s all about her looks. Not her work-shy ways. Not her many kitchens. Not her less than charitable ways. It’s all about her hair. Lawd have mercy! Bless her heart.

    • Since she said she only is concerned about what William thinks, can we assume that he doesn’t like this new hairdo either and that’s what is contributing to her mortification???

      • The Original Mia says:

That is a very definite possibility. He’s let it be known he didn’t care for her clothes before, so I’ve no doubt he’d make a comment about her hair if it didn’t meet his approval.

  42. ickythump says:

Surely willnot cannot be commenting on someone elses hair!!

    • frisbee says:

Well he hasn’t got any of his own has he?

      • Jaded says:

        *SNORTING WINE*

      • Vava says:

        ROFL……………………love it.

I’m sure William comments on all sorts of things about her – especially her hair. That’s probably why she refuses to shorten the length to her collar bone, where it would look so much better!

It would be great if he’d tell her to wipe all that eyeliner off.

      • Betti says:

@Vava – Willy apparently likes her hair long, hence why its long and lank. She styles herself to please one person – him.

  43. KGWM says:

    THIS is mortifying?

Not the topless pictures on vacation?

Not when she was flashing her thong around town?

    • Serenity says:

Trues up! All very valid points….nope, she probably wasn’t the least bit flustered then. But God forbid the masses don’t like her hair…..

  44. jackie says:

she has mutiple homes, plenty of staff, dressers, chefs, chauffers, etc, and it because of this she should look neat and well put ftogether rom head to toe, thats her job, she cant work, and everytime she appears, shes always messy why? why? why are the older european royal ladies with more kids than her doing a better job!! kate is just there to smooch the RF, and nothing more and indulge herself with shopping , exercises, vacays !, and glitz and sporting events!!

    • Betti says:

For me its the hair worn down that ruins it every time. She looks better when she wears it up – when its down it just hangs there, even with the wiglet it still looks flat.

  45. Caz says:

Did celebitchies make up Katie Bucket? Normal Bill and now this hehe…

  46. Betti says:

If this response is true – she’s opened herself up to be berated by the press for her appearance for a very long time. Now that they know this is the button to push to get a reaction they will push it and push it, the effect on her vanity and insecurity will not be good. She’s already very thin and had work done (wiglet, nose job, veneers) and if/when they start picking her apart it will drive to her to get more work done or become even more thinner.

But she’s already proven what we’ve all been saying for a long time – she’s a vain empty headed woman who has nothing to offer other than a new hair do or dress every time she’s out in public.

  47. Teri says:

I like her with bangs. She’s very pretty either way. I am always surprised at the bangs hate on this site. Lots of people with large foreheads or noses look better with bangs.

  48. Flora says:

She is a pretty woman regardless of bangs or not.
