Well we missed out on the last Stewart episodes on UK cable (to my despair) but we are getting these new episodes starting tonight.
I am intrigued to see how he goes.

    • joan says:

Can’t stand him, won’t watch him. It’s not about him reciting his writers’ jokes one night, it’s about how he wears over time, and whether he can ad lib comfortably, as Jon S. did, or is just a stiff.

      He’s a stiff who’s full of himself.

      • kibbles says:

I thought Noah’s debut was decent, but let’s be honest. Many comedians could do the same act just as well or better with the same Daily Show writers. All one needs to be good at is reading off of a teleprompter. Noah has come off as stiff and full of himself at times, but let’s hope he has matured a bit. Perhaps he will loosen up once he becomes more comfortable in his role. The true test is to see if he can ad lib well or if he would do well in a debate on another program as Jon Stewart was able to do anywhere at any time. I believe that would take a lot of prepping and coaching from the Daily Show writers. I’m not entirely against him nor am I jumping up and down enthusiastically for this debut. There were a few laughs and we will be better off if he improves and does well in this role.

      • PennyLane says:

In terms of background Noah’s father is Swiss, and, well…the Swiss aren’t exactly known for being loosey goosey ad-libbers. We’ll see.

        Only time will tell.

      • Neah23 says:

        @ Pannylane

You comment make no sense first the generalizing Swedish people and secondly because he didn’t even grow up with his father or in Sweden. So his family background has nothing to do with anything.

      • Misere says:

I totally agree that he has a serious ego problem.

  2. Cindy says:

Yeah! I will be sure to start watching. I was getting a little sick of John Stewart *ducks and runs for the door* 🙂

Oh! And before I go, John Oliver is awesome as well.

  3. Diana says:

Love him! He’s smart and hilarious.

  4. Tiffany27 says:

How was he? I meant to watch and fell asleep. I don’t read reviews all that much.

    • claire says:

He was great! Really comfortable, very funny and man does he have a great smile. The interview of Kevin Hart could have been a tad better but I’m sure he’ll improve over time. The segment with that correspondent Jordan was truly hilarious.

As it was airing, Twitter, Reddit and other social media were abuzz with super positive reviews. I mean, people loved it. Which made it really hilarious to see a story on the Daily Mail today saying the reaction was ho hum. They made a whole negative story out of a very minority group of naysayers. LOL.

  5. Poisonous Lookalike says:

Ahhhhh, Captain Tightpants can still bring it!

  6. hogtowngooner says:

I didn’t see all of it but I liked the clips I saw this morning.

I was at his show in Toronto on Saturday and he killed it. He seems like a sweet guy so I wish him all the best. Hope he keeps politicians’ and media’s feet to the fire like Jon did!

  7. Dvaria says:

I like him better than John Oliver. He’s less pretentious and more charming.

    • Heather says:

      Plus: haaaaaawwwwwttttt

    • Bridget says:

i’ve never found John Oliver pretentious, personally. But it also took him a while to really grow into his own as a Daily Show correspondent over the years. He used to be one of my least favorites, and then when he subbed in for Stewart last summer I found him hilarious and charming. And I love what he’s doing on “Last Week Tonight”

    • Franca says:

Of all the late night hosts, Oliver is my favourite. I don’t feel he’s pretentious at all.

    • parissucksliterally says:

      I LOOOOOOOOOOVE John Oliver!

    • kibbles says:

No way. I think John Oliver is amazing. In fact, I think John Oliver surpassed Jon Stewart by the end of Stewart’s run on the Daily Show. Oliver is very intelligent and it takes a lot more talent and ability to talk about one subject more in depth and for a longer amount of time. I don’t find Oliver to be pretentious at all. I would say that Noah and a lot cockier than Oliver.

  8. Freddy Spaghetti says:

I think the blind item is about Castle.

  9. QQ says:

I acted like a THIRSTY Dirty Bird all on the Twitters and it only got worse for my mentions when Al Madrigal and Skinny Pete from Breaking bad retweeted me saying I could only take one more wink before tossing him the panties at the tv… then half the diaspora started tweeting at Trevor and I figured I need to start growing some shame.. but them Dimples Tho!!

  10. Heather says:

He can get it any day of the week.

  11. iheartgossip says:

He was great! I will always miss Jon, but he was fantastic!

  12. Sarah01 says:

What’s not to love dimples, wit and that accent – love! Having said that Jon is irreplaceable. Trevor is his own host.

  13. Franca says:

He was really good, and I thought he would be because I saw his stand up and he was good on some panel shows in England. Besides, Jon was great, but he didn’t write the entire show himself.

  14. belle de jour says:

He’ll get over the nerves and be fine. Most of the same writers are still on staff, thank god (although I could hear some flat jokes – aides in congress club, e.g. – that prob. weren’t written by the usual suspects), and he’s got his stand-up comic timing down.

If he can just discipline himself not to laugh so much at his own (or his writers’) jokes – and stop literally winking so often at the audience who gets it, already – his delivery will be much better, and he’ll be a star in that format.

Having a cutie-patootie face and that charming manner are going to make the darkest humor even funnier… yet another powerful weapon already in place that he’s got going for him.

  15. Shelley says:

Trevor is amazing. The rest of the world is rooting for him \o/.

  16. parissucksliterally says:

I was so irritated at Viacom last night. They played TDS on THREE channels last night! TV Land, Nick at Nite AND Comedy Central. It is the second time I have seen them run something on all three channels. I think it is really obnoxious.
“We are going to force you to watch this show, if you are watching any channel owned by Viacom”.
    What crap.

  17. Tara says:

    Charlize Theron’s dress was gorgeous!

  18. lisa2 says:

I thought it was a good start. He seemed comfortable in the seat; and I love his smile.. So I’ll be watching.

  19. Misere says:

I’ll never get why a non American is in this role. Give me someone who grew up here. I won’t watch.
