Here are some photos of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard at last night’s BFI London Film Festival premiere of Black Mass. Amber wore her hair in curls (looks nice) and she got all decked out in this lingerie-looking Dolce & Gabbana. I don’t really think this is dressy enough for the outing, but she looks fine. I mean, compared to Depp… she looks fine. If you can get past Depp’s three diamond hoop earrings, vest, three necklaces, lifts (seriously, look at those shoes) and what I think is an old-fashioned pocket watch with a chain, then maybe you’ll notice that he’s still looking kind of bloated.
You know what surprises me a little bit? That Amber hasn’t gotten pregnant. I know she thought that marrying him would be great for her career (she was wrong), and she really thought she would be working non-stop, but I thought she would get pregnant sooner rather than later. Guess I was wrong! Anyway, Depp has a new interview with The Telegraph – you can read the full piece here. He chats about Whitey Bulger, his relationship with Vanessa Paradis and some weirdness with some of his real estate holdings.
Depp wanted to meet Bulger: “I made a request through his attorney to sit down with him to attempt to sponge some mannerisms and voice and take as much as I could from him. I wasn’t interested in asking him about his crimes or anything like that, I just wanted some personal idiosyncrasies. But I got the message back to say Jimmy had declined my visit because of his dislike for the book and especially his dislike for the two Boston Globe reporters who had nagged him for 20 years.”
He sees the humanity in Bulger: “What attracted me to Jimmy Bulger were the various facets of his personality and his humanity because I felt that the only way I could approach playing a character like him was to find his human side first and then map that out to see where it took the turn. He was a very complicated man. I think there’s a very sensitive side to him and he could be a caring, lovely family man who worshipped his brother and was very loyal to the community. There was something poetic about what he was able to do, being a proud Irish immigrant, loyal to his neighbourhood, a great caregiver to his mother and very close to his brother. But his business was violence. He would take old ladies’ groceries to their house and 10 minutes later he would crush someone’s skull. So I walked the tightrope to show a very dark side but at the same time a human, caring side.”
His relationship with Paradis: “Vanessa and I get along wonderfully. There’s no weirdness at all and no hostility. Life happens and we spent 14 great years together and have raised a couple of kids who we are both incredibly proud of.”
His daughter Lily-Rose becoming a celebrity/model/actress at 15: “What is happening with Lily-Rose is something I didn’t expect this early, for sure. But things happen when they happen. Her becoming an actress was never my hope or dream for her but that’s what she enjoys doing. So I am very proud of her because she is super together and a sharp, sharp kid. She tells me everything and if she needs any advice I am there. But yeah, it’s happening pretty fast and when I see her with all that make-up and stuff, it’s disturbing.”
The huge property he owns in France: “I don’t know why it was ever put up for sale. It was never my idea, so I had it pulled off the market. The place has been very good to me and I watched my babies grow up there. I don’t believe I could ever let it go, because when I become smoke I would love for them to have their kids there.”
He’s still a rock star, man: “Music is still part of my life. But I hate the idea of people coming to see me play the guitar because they’ve seen me in movies. You want people who are listening to be only interested in the music.”
He just wants simplicity: “Simplicity, that’s what I want. It’s been a rare commodity for me for a number of years, but I enjoy being able to hang out with my girl, read the newspaper and sit back and start to read a book by someone I admire like Lawrence Krauss or Christopher Hitchens. And that’s it – simplicity, where the game of Hollywood doesn’t exist.”
Simplicity, man. The kind of simplicity one can only get from a private island, a yacht, a large French estate, a large Nashville estate and a huge LA mansion. The kind of simplicity one can only get from endless scarves, necklaces, chained pocket watches, vests, earrings, bracelets, rings, rat-chewed hats and more scarves. The kind of simplicity one can only get by making endless studio films for eight-figure paychecks. He’s a poet, man. Simplicity.

I think they are now in Oscar-acquiring mode. Amber has been told to cut out the crap of pulling little stunts / leaking rumours to the press every few weeks to keep their names circulating. Which she probably thought was necessary because they certainly weren’t getting any good press for their films these past few years. But now Oscars are within reach for both of them (though for her, it wouldn’t be for a starring role, as it is for him) and they have to appear as a proper, loving and well-behaved married couple. Hence all the over the top PDA at the red carpets for The Danish Girl and Black Mass the past few weeks. And keeping all this in mind, I do think Amber will be pregnant soon.
Well, finally winning an Oscar after all those flops certainly would make life more simple for Johnny Depp at this point…
Oscar is within reach for her? What have you been smoking? She is in the Danish girl for a forgettable 5 minutes, the other movie she’s in had awful reviews rewiers said she was dreadful and it’s been pulled by the distributor.
Depp has a good chance though.
Having seen both Danish Girl and Black Mass, I can see that Johnny Depp is a strong contender for a nomination, despite the weirdness. She on the other had was very forgettable in Danish Girl. That movie is owned by Vikander and Redmayne. Outside of her connection to Depp, her role is so small that normally she would not have been a significant part of the film festival attendances. In fact had Black Mass not also been playing, I wonder if she would have been invited on her own.

I was puzzled by Depp saying he didn’t know his estate was put for sale. This is strange. How could it be done without getting an OK from him?
I was thinking the same thing. His accountant put it up for sale? His attorney? It seems more like Amber got bad publicity, rightly or wrongly, for Johnny putting the property up for sale, so he’s trying to make it seem like it’s a complete mystery. I don’t know what the laws in France are, but as the owner I would think he’d have to sign the listing agreement.
I also thought that his attorney could technically do it, but why? He wouldn’t without someone telling him to do it. And that someone would have to be either Johnny or someone else whose word is as good as Johnny’s.
Weird all the way around, and the strange explanation just drew attention to this fact.

Like, business attire skirt suits? You can find those at stores like Ann Taylor and Banana Republic. Slacks rarely fit me without tailoring, so I wear skirt suits for work.
me too. I’m very short, but have a long torso, so “petite” size pants never fit me. Designers seem to think “petite” means an absolutely proportionate miniature person, rather than the facts, a lot of us are regular sized people that just happen to have short legs. I wear a lot of skirts.
I shop at Taylor’s a lot. Better quality than most mid range prices, variety of lengths and silhouettes, and they cover the gamut from classy business to dressy casual to sporty.

Johnny looks much healthier and attractive. He is pretty much looking like himself, which is great. Amber looks not so healthy. So him looking better and her looking worse, they look much closer agewise now.

A kite is exactly what she reminded me of – floating down the red carpet tethered to old, bloated Johnny, looking at all the tangerine trees, marmalade skies and funny, teeny – tiny people. I hope I’m wrong. Especially hoping Johnny is just old and not unhealthy. I’ve seen him in action. Sweetest, little man. Totally has lifts in the shoes he wore for this premiere.

I agree. I think people are unnecessarily mean to him just because he decided to marry a much younger person. He’s still good looking and a great actor.
He’s spray tanning and looks plastic in many photos, in fact he looks as if he might melt. And the teeth are one thing still got pirate hardware, but check out the sores on his tongue. I guess that why he hasn’t had the teeth removed doesn’t want that to be seen. Given his slow stilted speaking manner and the fact that he seemed to be having trouble putting thoughts together and now these sores, my guess is drugs. He’s IS 52, he can’t party like his 29 year old wife and live to tell about it. This is how a high profile celebrity death happens, stay tuned.

I was lucky and I got pregnant as soon as I wanted to. I didn’t realize how lucky and blessed I was by this until I heard from so many women in my life who are struggling to get pregnant. For many, many couples it’s not easy and it’s not as simple as “she wants to get pregnant”.
This is why I don’t like speculation on “why isn’t she pregnant yet?”. She could be walking the heartbreaking and difficult path of fertility issues or infertility. I know she’s a celebrity but she’s also a human being.
I know I’m ranting. I was just talking to my dear friend who has been trying for YEARS and people say thing to her like “why no baby yet? It’s time!”. So ignorant and hurtful and devestating to her.

Black Mass is a great movie.
I think he starts looking better. His face looks healthier. He will never get back that youthful look when his skin seemed very tight above his cheeks and cheekbones.
He is looking less puffy than recently and less tired and perhaps he lost a little weight. Black / grey looks good on him. But black is definitely not Ambers colour. Her hair looks good.
His yearning for simplicity is a bit over the top. Perhaps he had more simplicity when he was still with Vanessa Paradies in France and only going to Hollywood for filming or premieres. I think it is part due to his divorce and new girlfriend that the media is interested more.

@ Vauvert Amber is certainly NOT being considered for an Oscar, but she had a tiny part in The Danish Girl, which stands a good chance of earning several Oscars. If that film gets any Oscars, it would certainly add some prestige to her CV, no matter how small her part was. Plus she would be invited to the Oscars, where her beauty and a big budget-dress would get her lots of attention. And there would be even more attention because she would turn up on the arm of Johnny Depp (probably nominated for his starring role in Black Mass). Now imagine these two at the Oscars with Amber pregnant… Career rehabilitation for Depp and major PR coup for this couple which has gotten so much negative publicity over the past few years.
Oh OK… That was not how I read it, I get it now. I honestly don’t think that the Danish Girl shine will really reach her. She only had a few minutes of bland presence in that movie. She can go to all the awards anyway, as you said, a young and beautiful wife on the arm of Depp. Whether he wins or not is a different story, but the truth is that despite all his clout and effort to get make her a star, and despite her youth and beauty, she is really a very poor actress. They can try to make her happen but …. That, and also people generally don’t seem to like her. Whether it is because of how fake she comes across or the fact that most people (myself included, I admit I am biased) feel that she contributed to the breakup between Depp and Paradis, she is still only making news because of her marriage and when she gets press the overall attitude towards her is negative.
If she gets pregnant, all people will see is her gold alimony/child support contract and his midlife crisis.
@SilkyP – I have to disagree with you regarding being in an Oscar-winning film helping Amber’s career. Can youname the actors who had small parts in any of the recent Oscar winners? I sure can’t. And people “in the know” are all saying that the Oscar for best actor will be going to either Leo DeCaprio, or more likely Eddie Redmayne.
Amber is not considered for Oscars but if the Danish Girl gets nominated she would be invited to events to promote the film even if she only has small role. The stars usually get the attention in these events but the spupporting cast would be attending and it would be a good opportinity for Amber to try to connect people to get jobs. But Johnny actually has a change of getting nominated.
@Vauvert I agree with you on most points. But I wonder whether the general audience is as critical towards them as the people reading the blogs. They just notice that Depp has a film out that is doing reasonably well (Black Mass), that he is in a Dior perfume commercial, and that he has a very pretty new wife. If he gets an Oscar next year and his pretty new wife is pregnant, for many people that would mean that he’s back on top.
@ iheartjacksparrow I really hope you are right about Amber not benefitting from any Oscars The Danish Girl might receive, because I honestly don’t think she deserves all the attention coming her way. The comment about simplicity are from the press conference in Toronto. I think he explained that they travel so much, that he treasures those simple moments when he can stay with Amber at home and the mornings when the sunlight enter through the windows of their bedroom and they are able to just sit there and open a newspaper or a book. I don’t think the simplicity he craves has anything to do with money or the island, is about home time

All that crap about leading a “simple” life feels too identical (and doesn’t work or make sense in either man’s life, IMO). In what way was Johnny giving you Brad Pitt vibes? IMO, Brad found a woman who wanted the same things he wanted in his life. Brad IMO appears to have settled down with Angelina and his children. Johnny had a woman and two children and after twelve years dumped her for a woman two decades younger than than he is. And btw, Angelina is totally about her family and appears quite settled with her husband and children.

That’s the best he’s looked in a while. That reminded me of this Paul McCartney music video two years ago for his new album. It had practically every famous person around in it. LOL But Johnny was in the video a lot, panning to him, and he was very hot. I always say I don’t find him hot anymore, and haven’t for years, but then I always forget this video. But Chris Pine was hotter.

Amber’s not getting pregnant anytime soon. I believe she leans more toward women sexually but is using JD for career opps before she “rediscovers” her sexuality. And I doubt he wants more kids, he’s a little long in the tooth and a screaming infant is not rock n roll, man …
