Jimmy Fallon busted his other hand at Harvard because “some random girl kneeled down in front of him abruptly as he was turning around and he tripped over her because he didn’t see her.” Um, is this shady? It sounds shady. [Dlisted]

Someone needs to get Jimmy a bubble suit*.

    *sober coach

    • QQ says:

ROTFL I really spit water all over

    • joan says:

He appears to like to drink, and is having consequences.

If you drink but don’t fall down and hurt yourself and have accidents or regret or health problems or missed work, you’re probably OK.

But when your drinking results in problems like these you want to reflect on it.

      And be honest with yourself.

  2. Babalon says:

    Drugs.

    The end.

    • Fluff says:

      Exactly.

    • Charlotte15 says:

It is so sad and so obvious. I wonder how much longer his wife will turn her head, considering they have two babies at home.

    • funcakes says:

I see rehab in someone’s future.

    • Scal says:

And booze. Booze and drugs. He had a bottle of Jaeger in his hand that you can see in the video.

    • Talie says:

Well, now I believe the blind items, and now I’m wondering how his wife puts up with the way he treats her and embarrasses her.

      • Louise says:

He seems crazy about his wife? He might have an addiction but ive never heard of him mistreating her – besides any embarrassment that might ensue

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

I would say the Nicole Kidman adoration, while adorable, was a bit cringe-worthy in regards to his wife.

      • Isabelle says:

        What is the blind item?

      • bluhare says:

There have been several items about a comic’s image of family man with small children conflicting with the reality which is booze/drugs. When you think bout it, thinking back to the time he almost took his finger off, he was in the hospital for five days then. I’ve never heard of anyone staying in a hospital for five days with an injured finger. Overnight maybe, but not five days. I have heard of people being hospitalized for that amount of time for other things, though.

      • Louise says:

Google what the injury was… it wasn’t a typical injury. They literally had to sew his finger back on because it because dislodged from his hand………………

  3. MP says:

I think we all know very well why. It’s really sad. I guess he just isn’t ready to admit he has a problem. I hope people around him aren’t enablers but will try look after him.

    • Sabrine says:

I hope not although having that show must be a lot of stress in the effort to do well. Until I hear differently, I prefer to think of him as a stumblebum and nothing more.

  4. Alexandra says:

“Some random girl kneeled down in front of him abruptly ”

    MUST. NOT. HAVE. DIRTY. THOUGHTS.

  5. so says:

    Alcoholic

    • LuluLove says:

Yep. Sadly, when drinking reaches the alcoholic stage accidents like this happen allllll the time. It’s a symptom of alcoholism. Intervention definitely needed. I’ve experienced this with a loved one. He is hysterical and I would hate to see this get any worse.

  6. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I hope his health insurance is current.

Lluckily he’s in a field that doesn’t really require him to use his hands. (Because at this point I half believe he’ll just lose a limb in an ever-increasing series of accidents).

  7. Brasileira says:

Simple…. because the guy loves his coke. The soda, I mean.

  8. db says:

He really loves to bend the elbow, that’s why.

  9. QQ says:

these comments are toppling me over like a tree!! ( btw I think i read before that gawker or some such filed a FOIA request to get more info on what happened to his hand and he lawyered up?)

    • Charlotte15 says:

People here who likely know better than me are saying coke and/or alcohol. My first thought was prescription pain meds, but there’s definitely something going on. No grown man is this “clumsy” and his reps have got to come up with something better.

He has the NBC machine protecting him at all costs though, so who knows.

      • Scarlet Vixen says:

I don’t know if he has a substance abuse problem or not, but sometimes “grown” people really are that clumsy. My older sister is almost 53, and she is constantly injuring herself in the most random ways. And she’s not addicted to anything–she hardly even drinks. She’s a big girl (she’s over 6’1″ and very broad shouldered), very left-handed, and just naturally clumsy. She lives in Minnesota and EVERY WINTER it’s something or other–spiral fracture in her thumb from sledding, broken elbow falling in her driveway taking her trash out, broken tailbone slipping on ice outside her office, broken wrist slipping going up her stairs, cracked knee cap, sprained ankles, broken wrist again, infection from ripping an acrylic nail, etc. Some people are athletic, some are elegant, and some are just clutzy.

      • Charlotte15 says:

Scarlet Vixen this is true, you have a point. I know plenty of people who have been stone cold sober and slipped on ice or something and broke a wrist. So I shouldn’t have made such a broad statement. But these incidents with Jimmy just seem…off. Someone else here pointed out that he’s been a known partier for decades but only recently seems unable to handle himself in public a lot of the time. Something has changed with him.

      • Goodie says:

Well to be fair I’ve had my leg in a cast 7 times. I have a bad ankle and every time I fall over I get a 3 rd degree sprain. I’m just clumsy

      • MET says:

Yep – I’m older than Jimmy and tripped over a garden hose requiring a trip to the ER and stitches. With that said, he used to have some pretty physical stunts and we’re just hearing about his accidents recently.

    • Lilacflowers says:

FOIA requests apply to government records only. And HIPAA prevents release of medical information without consent.

  10. Mia4s says:

This is very sad. Someone needs to intervene. What’s worse NBC? Rotating guest hosts while the star of your late night gets help; or, the star of your late night in jail for DUI (maybe having hurt/killed an innocent) or dead? Time for an ultimatum.

    • Lille says:

I have heard that they are not against replacing him, but can not find anyone who wants the job that is qualified. It is a pretty grueling schedule, and other potential hosts either don’t want to deal with that, or just don’t have the presence to host a show. Plus, there is the Conan situation, so they don’t want to look like crazy heartless jerks. I think if they replace him, they want to make sure it with someone who will stay.
I have a close relative who works at NBC, so I have been hearing about this for awhile. I don’t know what his addiction issue is, just that there is one, and most gossip reports about him are true.

  11. Nik says:

I can’t even watch him anymore. He’s not really funny but hopped up and hyper.

  12. yep says:

    M.S. ?

  13. iheartgossip says:

I feel sorry for his wife and daughters. It’s the hardest thing in the world to be in love with an addict. Love yourself Jimmy, your daughters need it.

  14. BRE says:

I think he has ADHD. Seriously, I have ADHD and I fall often cause I’m not focused on what is in front of me.

    • LeManda says:

I’m with you Bre. I’m hyperactive like him and hurt myself all the time just moving faster than my body understands. My father used to introduce me replacing my middle name with the word klutz.
Can’t he just be an awkward klutz? Does everyone have to assume he’s about to OD? Seems a bit far fetched.

Do people assume my self-inflicted klutz injuries are due to substance abuse?????

      • kat says:

I was thinking the same thing. I basically look like an abuse victim CONSTANTLY because I’m so bruised and I can never remember what I’ve walked into or tripped over. Never occurred to me that people might think that my total lack of coordination or paying attention was actually substance abuse.

    • Olenna says:

I was thinking ADHD as well. And, he’s probably self-medicating, which a lot un-diagnosed or untreated males do.

  15. Ctkat1 says:

It seems likely that it’s drugs or alcohol, just because the clumsiness seems to be a recent thing- Fallon’s always liked to party (well documented in interviews), but three big accidents in the last 6 months points to an issue.

    • lucy2 says:

Yeah, I could see if he had a long history of clumsiness dismissing it, but this is one after another in a short time period. Something is going on with him, and he needs to get help for whatever it is.

  16. Petra says:

ADHD makes sense to me. But I think he self-medicates with alcohol/drugs. Very sad.

    • BRE says:

I really think ADHD When I was in HS I broke the same toe on the same chair in the living 3 times, I just don’t pay attention to what is around me. Luckily I have a seeing-eye husband that yanks me out of way of polls and other such stuff

      • Anna says:

        @BRE: “seeing-eye husband” hehe
Yeah, I agree that it could be any of the above. I know I was rushing last week and so exhausted from weeks of non-stop work and long days, and within less than a few hours, I managed to slam my left shoulder into a door, then hit my left foot on another door, then slammed my right hand on the edge of a table. It was daytime, at work! I was like, okay, three appendages down, one to go. lol! So yeah, it happens and it’s usually due to extreme exhaustion and “running the show” so to speak.
ADHD, substance abuse, general clumsiness exacerbated by moving too quickly due to stress of running one of the biggest tv shows in history while also having two babies under the age of two, etc. Basically, he piled every major thing in his life–marriage, kids, dream job with incredible pressure to succeed–all at the same time. It’s not that he couldn’t be medicating to deal–agree that he has acted either coked up or sounded slightly drunk on certain shows in the last year–but there are so many reasons for his recent accidents.

We love to see the fall from grace, and the more gruesome and destructive, the better, it seems. I’ll reserve judgment and hope that he heals soon and has better luck.

  17. littlestar says:

Remember the photo of Justin Timberlake last week where his eyes popped out of his head so much, he looked high as a kite? Jimmy Fallon is his best friend. I wonder if they also enable each other.

  18. AmyB says:

No one gets into multiple accidents like this unless they are under the influence of something else. Don’t know if it is drugs, alcohol, etc., but hopefully he will get some help. I know from personal experience…..get help Jimmy before you are a cautionary tale a la Lamar Odom!

    • michkabibbles says:

Wrong-I trip and fall multiple times a week. If I had a dime for every time I’ve fallen down some stairs, I’d be a rich woman. I fall down the stairs, fall up the stairs (that takes skill) trip on curbs, fall off bikes, fall while hiking, trip on carpet and fall when crossing the street. All while stone cold sober. Some people are just naturally clumsy. I never met a pebble I didn’t trip on. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but it’s not the only explanation.

      • JP says:

I tripped and fell and broke my foot 7 years ago and I was stone-cold sober. I broke my wrist this past summer. I fell right after my mother’s funeral last autumn but fortunately nothing was broken, however, I had to ice and elevate my foot. I fell in front of kohl’s dept. store on uneven pavement. I had not been drunk or on meds or drugs. Kathie Lee Gifford said last week she falls all the time too.

    • MrsBPitt says:

Remember when MIchael J. Fox first started showing signs of Parkinson’s Disease, and all the tabs were calling him a drunk and drug addict. I will withhold my judgment until I hear something from Jimmy’s camp. It could be booze or drugs (I’m sure drugs were rampant on the set of SNL), could be he is a klutz, or it could be something physically wrong…I like Jimmy, so I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt…..for now….

  19. Michelle says:

Perhaps I am in denial, but I don’t think it’s drugs/alcohol. I think he’s just a little clumsy. I hope that these rumors are not true.

    • claire says:

Yeah, it’s weird to me people jump to drugs and/or alcohol. Or saying no one ever falls without it. Um, the word klutz exists for a reason!

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

Was he so clumsy before this year ?

  20. Luca76 says:

    Coke and booze.

  21. Colette says:

Alcohol I’ve seen him on some college girls snap chats

  22. Louise says:

Would he really be able to maintain his schedule if he was high/drunk off his tits the whole time? He was always a hyper guy who likes a party.. i have no idea. Maybe he does have an issue. A chat show is huge pressure. It’s never ending. You always have to think of ways to improve it, up ratings, get better guests, think of funny games …

It’s sad because i was just thinking recently how cute and in love he seems to be with his wife, who is someone of substance with her own successful career of her own. I hope he doesn’t ruin it all. Lorne Michaels is his showbiz father, i hope he’s aware of it all.

    • Neah23 says:

I have know idea about Jimmy, but it’s called being a high functional alcoholic. High functional alcoholic hold down jobs, busy schedule, family ex…. Same goes for drugs.

      • Nic919 says:

Wasn’t Letterman an alcoholic at one point? I can see his staff covering for him because their jobs are still at risk too.

Lots of blinds have hinted at a drug or alcohol problem in the last few months. He is in an environment where drinking and doing drugs are all over so no surprise.

    • E.M.Maxx says:

      He has writers

  23. The Original Mia says:

So many blinds out there about how he’s an alcoholic. 2 fingers down. 8 more to go.

  24. me says:

Why do people insist he has a drug problem? Is there something I missed? His “accident” stories seem believable to me. Some people are just naturally more prone for things like this to happen. If he really had a problem, don’t you think he’d try to hid his injuries. We only found out about this recent one because he posted it on the net. I choose to believe he’s just unlucky and maybe a bit clumsy…until there is hard core evidence.

    • sills says:

I think it’s because he’s been the most common guess for several blind items going back months, on other gossip sites, about “a heavy boozer who keeps having ‘accidents’ (stupidly injuring himself) while he’s wasted” with supposed insider info. Not saying those blinds are true, but that’s where people are getting this from.

  25. LeAnn Stinks says:

There have been many blind items implying that he parties every night after his show like a college frat boy, and that while in an altered state, he has also allegedly cheated on his wife as well.

It seems that fame and fortune have only made his partying issues worse.

  26. LAK says:

    So many rumours about him………..

  27. sauvage says:

First of all, blind items are no reliable news source.

Secondly, I run into things while being stone-cold sober all.the.time. As others have stated, being clumsy doesn’t make you an alcoholic.

  28. DPOmaha says:

His using behavior and infidelity are so well known at this point….it’s sad his network and handlers continue to make excuses for him. He hasn’t hit his bottom yet, obviously, but we should just stop watching him. Until his behavior hits him and his network where it counts…in the bank account…he will continue to be irresponsible. Who needs this? I stopped tuning into him a few years ago. No one cares what I think…but if enough of us express ourselves, perhaps we’ll be heard.

  29. beckymae says:

According to CDAN he’s a raging alco with no talent…

  30. SofaKing says:

For the ones saying that he’s probably just a clumsy guy…?? He’s been famous for a long time. Not to mention been in physical comedy on snl for many years before that. You’d think there would’ve been other stories in the past of him being a klutz, no? I think he’s probably been hitting the pills or sauce like others have already said.

  31. familard says:

I seem to recall that Tina Fey on one of her earlier appearances, warned him that late-night-talk-host is the worst job for him.

  32. LizzyFizzy says:

I have NO idea what is going on here and I hope he gets help or slows down. However, I second the person who mentioned that Fallon’s bestie Justin Timberlake has also been looking a little rough and wild-eyed of late. Recently JT was on the Tonight Show doing a segment about his new liquor project–whisky? Tequila? I wonder if these guys don’t party a lot.

Certainly, SNL is known for its party-friendly atmosphere. I was really surprised to read that even Amy Poehler said she had tried cocaine while she was on the show. Amy Poehler! The question then becomes, who on SNL hasn’t tried cocaine? Is that why the skits are so bad lately?

    • LizzyFizzy says:

      Relevant Vulture story?

“Healthy” is not an adjective that would have described Fallon during SNL. “Everyone in New York has a Jimmy Fallon story,” says Seth Herzog, his good friend and Late Night’s warm-up comic. “It’s always like, ‘In 2000, Jimmy threw this dude out of a bar, or poured his beer on someone, or got on a table and sang a song.’ ”…..“Siberia, that was magic! The best dive bar I’ve ever been to in my whole lifetime, oh my God,” Fallon tells me. “I really put some time into that bar. I put some dents into that one, man. I brought my parents there and everything. I was really proud of it.”

“We were super-functioning alcoholics, definitely,” says Horatio Sanz, Fallon’s SNL cast mate and drinking buddy. “They say that kind of goes hand in hand with SNL, some kind of substance-abuse issues, because it’s so stressful you easily find yourself blowing off steam a lot.” Niagara in the East Village was another favorite; Sanz once demanded a margarita in the biggest glass the bar had, which turned out to be a vase, and woke up on the sidewalk in front of his apartment. “Yeah, we got in a couple of brawls,” says Sanz. “I’ve seen Jimmy clock a few people.” Sanz’s favorite fight happened at another haunt, Peter McManus Cafe on 19th Street. Fallon started pouring a beer on someone’s hat, thinking it belonged to Sanz’s friend. “The owner of the hat, we didn’t know who he was, said something like, ‘What the %^& are you guys doing?’ and Jimmy just punched him. He wasn’t that hurt; he just walked into a tornado of drunken stupidity. Yeah, Jimmy could fight. I don’t know where he learned, but he definitely scrapped with the best of them.”

      • Crumpet says:

Holy cow. So it’s not a secret. That explains the bottle of Jager he was holding when he tripped over the girl.

    • MrsBPitt says:

Lately??? SNL jumped the shark YEARS AGO!!!!

  33. Pmnichols says:

I’m out of the loop……he’s a big drinker and does drugs???? No way.
