Spoilers for previously aired Walking Dead episodes and mild speculative spoilers follow
As we wait to learn Glenn’s (Steven Yeun’s) fate on The Walking Dead and cling to hints that he’s still alivel, there’s news of another fan favorite we’ll definitely see more of. Norman Reedus, who plays badass Daryl, is getting his own docuseries which will air on AMC next year. The show will follow his his motorcycle travels as he visits different destinations to explore motorcycle culture. A new friend will join him for every episode. CNN has the news about this six episode, one hour show:

Set to debut in 2016, each hourlong episode “Ride With Norman Reedus” (working title) will see the actor behind “The Walking Dead’s” Daryl Dixon explore local motorcycle culture and its history by taking rides through different cities with a riding companion. The motorcycle enthusiast each week will ride with a fellow actor, musician, friend or local who shares his passion journey to a new destination. Along the way, they’ll stop at locations including custom bike shops, tattoo parlors, collector warehouses and more, in addition to showcasing various types of motorcycles, including vintage, minis and cruisers.

Produced by Left/Right Productions, “Ride” is exec produced by Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver (“This American Life”). “Ride” reunites Druckerman and Tarver with the network after their unscripted series “Small Town Security” ended its run after three seasons in 2014 when it largely abandoned reality fare and shifted its focus on scripted.

“We love being the home of people’s passion projects, and there is nobody more passionate about motorcycles than Norman Reedus,” AMC and SundanceTV original programming and development president Joel Stillerman. “He is an avid rider and aficionado who is deeply immersed in motorcycle culture. There is also nobody more fun to hang out with. This show will bring those two elements together for a weekly ride into the incredible world of motorcycles and the people who live and breathe them.”

The pact comes as Reedus’ motorcycle-riding “Walking Dead” alter ego continues to be a fan favorite, with multiple “If Daryl Dies We Riot” campaigns urging the zombie drama to keep Daryl — who isn’t featured in the comic series — alive and well.

“Norman’s interest in motorcycle culture and his natural ability to make friends wherever the road takes him are just two of the key ingredients that make this show so exciting for us,” Left/Right co-president Druckerman said. “We look forward to taking viewers on a fun, imaginative, and revealing ride.”

Added Reedus: “I’m incredibly excited and thankful to AMC for giving me the opportunity to share a passion of mine with our fans, and hopefully a whole new audience. I had a lot of fun filming and exploring, and I hope it shows.”

I’m into motorcycles and I ride. I’m not heavily into biking culture, bike specs or tattoos or anything, I just love to ride. It’s hard to explain the awesome feeling you get when you’re riding down a country road, especially this time of year. There’s something transcendent about it and you do feel connected to other riders. So I definitely will watch at least one episode of this show.

Reedus has this kind of cool but approachable quality that will probably endear him to the people he meets. I remember seeing him give a tour of his Walking Dead trailer and he seems to really connect with his fans because he spoke of them fondly and kept a lot of mementos from them. Also, he’s so hot on a bike. There’s just something about a guy on a motorcycle. Ok sign me up! Just please do something with Reedus’s hair.

Oh and while I was looking for photos for this post I found the website of the customization shop in Richmond, VA, which made Daryl’s latest bike(s) for The Walking Dead. Reedus personally collaborated with the shop founder, John Ryland, who described him as “very enthusiastic, straightforward and down to earth—despite millions of fans watching his every move.” I hope they filmed him working with this team to make his Walking Dead bike!

This! What I also love about being on the bike is the way the smells are part of the scenery in a way they’re not when you’re in a car.

  2. Boston Green Eyes says:

I’ve always wanted to ride and have always threatened to get my motorbike license but then I remember all these people whom I know of who get hurt in a bike accident (totally not their fault) who are then rendered incapacitated due to a brain injury. I’m in my 50s now and just want to play it safe for the remainder of my days.

    • Celebitchy says:

You could get a trike like a Spyder or another bike like that. From what I know they’re safer because they’re more stable and you’re more visible. I’m in my 40s you’re not too old! I know what you mean though, it’s scary.
@Cannibell I know I love to smell the countryside, except when it stinks.

  3. Lilacflowers says:

Sorry, but does this man NEVER wash his hair?

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      With you. So greasy.

    • Norman Bates's Mother says:

In video interviews his hair usually look clean and dry near the scalp and super wet/greasy in the middle and at the ends, which makes me think he washes it regularly, but then spends a lot of time time putting ginormous amounts of hair products to tame that awful haircut and ends up looking dirty and smelly.

      • McLori says:

And who ever is covering his grey is not doing him any favors. Going way too dark and the repeated applications makes the hair darker from root to tip. Makes it look dirty.

  4. Catherine Anne says:

I will be watching, I love bikes but I don’t ride one myself. I just really like Norman as a person and how he treats his fans and people in general.

  5. DarkSparkle says:

I will totally watch this. He’s funny and smart enough in interviews – I’ll even leave the TV volume on.

  6. The Beldam says:

I’m not into motorcycles but I’ll watch. He’s a doll.

  7. Naddie says:

I’m deadly afraind of riding a motorcycle. All I can think about is accidents, blood, broken bones… One more topic for my therapist, damn it.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It scares me, too. I can see the appeal, but if you get in an accident, you’re so likely to be seriously injured. It’s not worth it to me. I don’t think people on motorcycles realize how hard they are to see when you’re driving a car. I live in a state where helmets aren’t required, and I see the people whipping in and out of highway traffic with no helmet – are you trying to die?

  8. Tiffany says:

    Yeah….I will watch.

This just makes me mourn Ewan McGregor’s show all those years ago. It was sooo good.

    • antipodean says:

Ian and Charlie Boorman were a great team, and their shows were fascinating. I think they did two or three series, both in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
I can see the attraction of bike riding, I had a bike in my early twenties, and I loved zipping about on that thing.

  9. Sullivan says:

I’m not really into Norman Reedus. Now, if DARYL were to do a docuseries I would definitely tune-in, but he’s a little busy kicking zombie arse.

  10. Texasgurl says:

He’s always so greasy looking. take a shower, Norman!

  11. Cat87 says:

I wanna learn how to ride despite the dangers. I live in Florida and have been in 5 car accidents (not at fault ) in the span of 10 years. I would still learn to ride even though my state is infamous for death behind the wheel. Any wheel two or four gour gonna get smack in florida. Blame it on the old people who drive 10 miles under the speed limit and lack peripheral vision.

  12. Sochan says:

Couldn’t care less. I’m a big WD fan, but he plays my least favorite character and his public persona is tiring.

  13. Pants says:

I’ve met him and he is absolutely the nicest guy, I would definitely tune in for him.

  14. sassy says:

can i be a new friend and go with him please………………drool
