Heidi Klum went as Jessica Rabbit for Halloween: awesome or grotesque?

As you’ve surely seen by now, Heidi Klum went all out, as usual, for her annual Halloween party. In past years we’ve seen her as an alien-like butterfly, an elderly lady, Cleopatra and a cadaver. She teased that her costume would be “every male’s fantasy” and there was some speculation based on the prosthetics involved that she would be a Kardashian, but she was a cartoon instead.

This is both incredible and disturbing, especially when you see all the detail work on her face. She looks plastic! Win for Heidi.

Gigi Hadid was a dead on Sandy from Grease. Excellent costume. If you’re going to be sexy for Halloween, pick a character who actually was sexy instead of doing a sexy twist on some profession or regular person.

Christian Siriano and Brad Walsh were cubist paintings. Incredible!

Diane Guerrero (Maritza from Orange Is the New Black) went as Tina from Bob’s Burgers. Love it!

Dascha Polanco (Orange is The New Black) was Vivian from Pretty Woman.

Emily Ratajkowski was Marge from the Simpsons and her date was Homer. Needs more padding!

Here’s Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart. Lopez’s contact lenses are mesmerizing.

Hahaha! My daughter went as Tina! she looked great.

  2. Lilacflowers says:

That slit seems to be revealing a little too much lower Heidi. The entire costume is amazing but looks really uncomfortable.

    Love the cubist painting costumes.

    • NYer says:

She seems way more sexualized now that she’s with the young’un.

    • dagdag says:

Well, it says “No Underwear Under There”.

I don`t think it is sexualized, it`s more a parody of being sexy.

      And fantastic stage make-up.

  3. Zapp Brannigan says:

Heidi looks like Courtney Stodden in that get-up.

  4. Lindy79 says:

I think it’s both. Its probably what Jessica Rabbit would look like if she were human.

  5. Sara says:

A beautiful post-modern statement about the current state of acceptable body modfication in today’s consumption-driven society. AMIRITE

  6. Rhiley says:

The guy who went as Homer should have stepped it up a bit because it could have been a really good costume. He looks to pretty and clean, though.

  7. Huh says:

Most of these are pretty good to awesome (Heidi, who looks disturbing, and Christian, Brad) except Emily (points for the yellow makeup, demerits for the length of her dress and heels – I went as Marge once and found a calf-length tube dress and red flats). But Dascha Polanco is YIKES.

    • Esmom says:

Yeah, sexy Marge Simpson doesn’t exactly work.

    • Rainbow says:

I don’t like to body shame but Dascha Polanco is a terrible person (who puts kittens in a box and returns them?) so I don’t mind. Her costume is horrible and she looks so bad with the thigh high boots. You don’t have the legs for these Dasha.
With this nasty character that she has, she should have dressed up as a witch, Dracula, Cruella de Ville etc.

      • HeySandy says:

Maybe I’m terrible but any time I see Dascha wearing something that shows off her legs I’m like No. She is a beautiful girl but her legs aren’t her best feature. I say this as someone who has big hips and thunderthighs, she should learn to dress to flatter herself instead of trying to attract attention.

      • Jay says:

“I don’t like to body shame but” LOL. Maybe she LIKES her legs. Who the hell are you to dictate what she wears? People need to get over themselves.

  8. LadyJane says:

Good job on the costume Heidi! But I swear I can see her mons pubis. Jessica Rabbit wouldn’t have been that crass!

  9. cleveland girl says:

J.LO looks awesome! Everyone else looks disgusting. Actually Gigi looks amazing too!!

  10. Nicolette says:

JLo and Casper the friendly ghost look great! Love the contacts!

  11. Tiffany says:

AWESOME. She gives it a 110 every year.

  12. We Are All Made of Stars says:

Klum looks creepy. Whatever guy says this is his male fantasy is probably a weirdo in the state pen. Well, it is Halloween.

  13. Cc says:

That Jessica Rabbit makeup and outfit looks creepy! But I guess that’s the whole idea of Halloween.

  14. Emmygrant says:

Heidi takes Halloween Way. Too. Seriously.

OMG I thought Emily was Tina Fey…

  15. ldub says:

    Kim K. in 15 years…..maybe sooner?

    • Josephine says:

My first thought was that this shows the grotesqueness of modern plastic surgery, exaggerated body parts, skin pulled so tight it looks plastic, etc. — all of the things that I think of when I think of what those poor K women did to their faces and bodies. They have also entered grotesque territory with the body “enhancements.”

  16. Kitten says:

Hmmm…I guess I’m the only one that thinks all of these are pretty solid, with the exception of Dascha Polanco.

The cubist paintings are freakin amazing.

    • V4Real says:

You’re not the only one. Though Heidi’s slit is a bit high but I’m sure she has on a thong or something.

Dascha..um, need I bother to say more?

  17. sills says:

As far as Halloween costumes go, I worship at her feet. She hits it out of the park every time. Her old lady costume was my all-time favorite.

  18. lower-case deb says:

does that lipstick shade and level of shine exist in the wild? (and affordable?)

  19. Sayrah says:

Heidi looks great but I’m still just sickened by jlo with Casper smart. Why?

  20. yaya13 says:

Heidi Klum tainted the image of Jessica Rabitt for me….(isn’t she supposed to be beautiful?) I get that its Halloween-but she looks nasty. Take it down a notch, dude.

    Gigi Hadid is beautiful.

  21. Daria Morgendorffer says:

Eh, Idk about the Heidi Klum costume. On one hand, I love Halloween and really appreciate an awesome costume, but on the other hand I feel like she over does it at this point. She went through 10 hours of makeup for this costume. I love Halloween, but somehow I feel like having a team of people do all the work for you kind of disqualifies you from being creative or imaginative.

Loved all the other costumes except Dascha Polanco’s, just because she’s pretty thirsty for attention.

    • dagdag says:

Carneval or whatever it is called is a hobby for a lot of people and business to many others.

For instance, in Germany, the official start is on the 11 of November and really ends one day before Ash Wednesday. A lot of people stitch on their costumes all year long or have others to stitch their costumes. There is also a lot of logistic behind all of this fun. And it really can be fun. Some people like it and others don`t.

  22. wow says:

Heidi for the win. She nailed it!

  23. Bridget says:

CREEPY. And it feels a little desperate, to be honest. Heidi’s never gone the blatantly sexy route on the Halloween costumes before.

    • Josephine says:

I don’t think she was going for sexy at all. I think it was supposed to be unsettling.

      • daj79 says:

abso agree! she found a brilliant way to make commentary. she picked the most outlandish female cartoon bod in history and feature for feature it is kloser to kardashian than kartoon! it is soo on point. hideous…. and on point. love it.

      • Bridget says:

Yeah, Heidi Klum isn’t that deep.

    • funcakes says:

I’ve always found her insufferable. She wants to come off as a comedian but never pulls it off.

      • pinetree13 says:

Me too and her voice is super grating…however her dedication to halloween is softening me to her. It makes her seem like a fun person. Also I agree with Josephine, I don’t think she was going for sexy at all.

  24. FingerBinger says:

Heidi Klum looks like Jessica Rabbit suffering from bee stings.

  25. Dr. Funkenstein says:

Gotta go with grotesque. Not a great look, nor a good replication of the character. Strange.

  26. Chinoiserie says:

Jessica Rabbit is a good idea and there is a lot of effort but ai do not think you can really nail any cartoon character without it looking wierd.

  27. Chinoiserie says:

Jessica Rabbit is a good idea and there is a lot of effort but ai do not think you can really nail perfertly any cartoon character without it looking wierd.

  28. word says:

J.LO still “smizing” even when in full halloween make-up lol. I’m starting to think she smizes in her sleep too.

  29. me says:

Heidi Klum totally looks like Amanda Lepore

  30. G says:

I think Heidi killed it! It’s pretty amazing! So Casper went as Marc Anthony? Well played Jlo I see what you did there.

    • V4Real says:

“So Casper went as Marc Anthony? Well played Jlo I see what you did there.”

I was like what. Then oh, Skeletor, I get it. LOL……

  31. thelazylioness says:

Well she certainly nailed scary! I love Halloween and if I had her money I would go all out too. This is creepy personified but actually resembles a lot of women hooked on plastic surgery. I hope she was indeed trying to make a point with this costume and doesn’t think this is actually a good look.

ETA: Kim is likely jealous of this look. I predict she will attempt this hair color soon lol.

  32. funcakes says:

No one mentioned Harry Hamlin wearing a swastikas shirt as Sid Vicious. And Kyle Richards posing with but claims she never saw the shirt.

  33. angela says:

Know why I’m NOT impressed…..she didnt do her makeup, costume or hair….some one else did…all she did was tell them what she wanted to be

  34. Bread and Circuses says:

I think I would genuinely freak out if I saw someone walking around like that. In still photos, it’s not so bad; it doesn’t tip-toe too far into the Uncanny Valley.

  35. mimi says:

awesome and grotesque are not mutually exclusive. heidi’s outfit is both.

  36. Liz says:

I think Heidi crossed the line into taking Halloween too seriously. It took over 10 hours to “make” her costume. Come on! She’s missing out on the fun part and making it all work. When I look at her all I see is work
Her costume on stilts, the cadaver, the butterfly, etc., were boring. Josh and Fergie, Gigi, Sam and Aaron, Jessica Alba and others have the right spirit.

  37. Cinnamon Date says:

Heidi has amazing costumes, but you’ve got to wonder why she (and the others) doesn’t have anything better to do than this. I feel the same about cosplaying. Embarrassing for some reason. It’s cute when adults get into gear to go trick or treating with their kids though.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Ew. Cosplaying as a hobby means a lot of different things to different people, including adults. For many it’s about showing off their skills as designers, their dedication to a fandom, or dressing down/up and going somewhere to hang out with like minded people.

It’s not embarrassing to them and I can’t imagine why you’d care about what anyone wears who isn’t you.

      • Cinnamon Date says:

I’ve encountered quite a bit of defensiveness from people who cosplay about this. I think it’s really one of the silliest hobbies in existence and while I might not understand it correctly, some of these people want to take on some part of these manga/whatever characters. Being a fan of a manga or a celebrity and dressing to show you’re a fan is one of the silliest and most juvenile things you can do. It’s like you don’t have a sufficient personal identity and need take on fandom as an identity in itself. Being a fan of someone is something you do when you’re under 18 years of age. And adults like Heidi who spend hours and hours getting into silly outfits are undignified and need to reassess their values in life. Each to their own.

  38. Anon says:

Absolutley best couple costume was Jessica Simpson And Eric Johnson.. Christie Brinkley approved.. Brinkley and Griswold..it was fantastic and Eric was just like Chevy Chase.. Amazing costumes

  39. TOPgirl says:

I love that she goes all out for Halloween. I would too if I had millions!

  40. Joh says:

JLo went with lace, barely covered breasts!
    How original of her!

  41. kitty-bye says:

Well Horror for Halloween! Looks scary! however, I am biased I wasn’t old enough to like Jessica Rabbit at the time that I saw the movie so I don’t know If I would “get” her now. Not pleasing.
