Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt step out for NYC screening of ‘By the Sea’: lovely?

wenn23114397

This is a surprise! At least to me. I heard something about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt doing a Q&A for By the Sea in NYC, but I didn’t realize there would be photos from outside the event/screening. So here you go – the Brangelunacy is upon us! So many new Jolie-Pitt photos! Huzzah!

I cannot find the ID on Angelina’s dress. Everyone is describing it as “vintage style,” but could it possibly be real vintage? Anyway, it’s got that baggy, slightly sacky vibe that I know she likes and it’s got a ‘70s vibe too, which fits with the movie. I’m surprised to see her in a real color! She does black and neutrals too often. I enjoy her hair this dark, but my one complaint is that she looks pretty tired. She and Brad need to take a good nap together.

As for Brad… I’m still grateful that he’s in a relatively clean-shaven phase these days. I honestly don’t mind Brad’s scarves, because unlike Johnny “Scarfy” Depp, Brad’s scarves are not attached to five necklaces, ten rings, a rat-chewed hat, metal chains on his pants and an emergency scarf in the back pants pocket. Brad’s occasional scarves seem more like “he’s being dressed personally by Tom Ford.”

Also: Brad and Angelina cover the new issue of Vanity Fair Italia.

She looks good, I like the dress. And her face isn’t as shiny as it usually is on red carpets.
However, she’s one of those women who look so much better with bangs. Brad looks okay.

I don’t like the cover photo. At all. But I rarely like loved up couply pictures.

    • Bae says:

The cover photo is really corny- Black and white oh so artsy. Not my thing either.
And she would look better with bangs.

      • Marny says:

Brad kind of reminds me of Billy Ray Cyrus on that cover. They both look fine at the screening but boring. Nothing wrong with that but also not much to talk about, in my opinion.

    • blueskies says:

Photoshoot inside is lovely – very relaxed and happy!

    • V4Real says:

That red carpet pic looks like Rooney Mara at a quick glance. Beautiful face, horrible dress. It doesn’t fit right.

      • Lindsay says:

I think it is funny the first thing Kasier said about Kate Middleton’s Spectre dress was she was channelling Angelina Jolie. But this dress with the tacky belt, open back, chiffon long sleeves and over lay, tragic clutch plus the color (which AJ pulls off at least better IMO) didn’t get a comment about a Waity Katey vibe. But alas no buttons for Angelina…

    • s says:

That cover must have hit in the corny core of my heart, cause I love it.

      • Shambles says:

Me too, S. I’ll stand in the corny corner with you. It gives me the feels, some of them not so G rated. I love them unabashedly, even on their corniest of artsy covers. I think it’s sexy 😁

      • not cynical says:

I love the cover and the pictures inside are beautiful.

      • Trashaddict says:

I adore the cover photo. It’s very sweet. But I worry about how Angie looks unwell to me and they both look a little stressed. Maybe about the movie or the kids have them tired but I hope nothing is going wrong with her health.

      • GlimmerBunny says:

I love it too! It’s one of the prettiest covers I’ve seen lately.

    • belle de jour says:

Was laughing to myself imagining the cover lay-out artist trying to find space on Angelina to put the editorial type.

    • Carol says:

Think her hair color is too harsh. Brad, the cast of Newsies needs their costume back.

  2. lower-case deb says:

    someone on tumblr posted this:
    http://bribooth.tumblr.com/post/132499144596/found-another-pic-ive-never-seen-of-angelina

it’s an old advert? photoshoot? not sure.
who is that man with her? can’t be Jon Voight he’s too young.
looks a bit like young Brad Pitt. but not.

  3. Snazzy says:

“Brad’s scarves are not attached to five necklaces, ten rings, a rat-chewed hat, metal chains on his pants and an emergency scarf in the back pants pocket.”
I love this comment. He does at least wear the scarf and the hat properly.

I like the blue dress, but I do find the dark hair a bit harsh on her. But maybe you’re right, and she is just tired.

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

I died at that comment! “Rat-chewed hat” ..”emergency scarf” BAHAHAHA fantastic

    • not cynical says:

Of course Brad just got back with the twins to NY a couple days ago. Angie could have been tired, she and Brad had not seen each other in a few days, and then there’s Vivi, who, no doubt wanted to cling to her Mommy after being away from her.

But, more likely, Brad has not let her get much sleep.

    • laura in LA says:

I loved Kaiser’s comment, too. The man-scarf as Brad sports it is a simple one around the neck, very understated Tom Ford as you put it…

Coco Chanel once said: “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.” In Scarfy Depp’s case, he should remove everything.

  4. Karen says:

The dress looks like one on sale at hugo boss but it’s not a midi dress and has 3/4 sleeves. I’m no help lol.

I’m hoping for no sack dresses at AFI. I want her to step out and really shine the way only she can shine. Also her hair game needs some revival too.

She always looks stunning though. Even when her hair is dirty, her dress is too big, and her accessories are too casual. Exhibit A.

  5. astrid says:

These two restore my faith in humanity. I really like the cover photo. What a beautiful couple

  6. lower-case deb says:

    is the dress Luisa Beccaria?
it’ has similar design element with the pink one she wore for the press conference earlier this week?

especially the gold belt and some pleating.
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3297934/Angelina-Jolie-makes-return-spotlight-striking-mink-gown-continues-promote-new-movie-Sea.html

meanwhile the blue dress itself is similar to the one she wore in her Vanity Fair photo spread with Brad.
glad to see they’re seem to be having fun!

    • not cynical says:

They have such beautiful smiles, both Brad and Angelina.

    • Goo says:

The dress is so matronly, and entirely too long. Between that and her thinness, yes, I know she has ALWAYS been thin, she looks like a granny. Loathe the dress and the belt!

      • MrsK says:

I thought it was matronly too … until you see it from the back and get that peek-a-boo glimpse of a very elaborate back tattoo. Definitely not my grandma’s chiffon tea frock.

  7. Donna Martin says:

She looks great in colour! I can’t with her face, she is a stunner

  8. Sherry says:

What’s not to love about the cover photo? He’s got both arms wrapped around her keeping her close (one under her leg no less; hotness) even thought she looks distant. Could be the theme for the movie, who knows? but love it. Plus I’ve seen the inside pics and they are gorgeous!!! Go Angie and Brad!!

  9. lisa2 says:

I like her dress and nice to see her in a new color. I don’t remember her wearing powder blue.. this is a good look for this event. It was a screening and she/they did a Q&A

Angie is not a fashionista. She never has been. She wears what she likes. The thing I love is whatever she is wearing the Designer is always tweeting about it. Like her booties, this dress, her bags everything. So they are taking note of what she wears and proudly announcing it. The dress has an open back and I like it. Brad looks good. He can work some jeans. I want the hat gone; but he seems to do that when he has a short cut.

    • not cynical says:

I wouldn’t mind him losing the hat for a while, he has such great hair, he needs to show it off. He looked good, I liked his vest, and of course Brad has always been able to work a pair of jeans.

Angie looks very feminine in that dress, and very beautiful, of course.

  10. Lou says:

I can’t think of a couple that bore me as much as Brad and Angelina. I just don’t get the fascination. I admire her for her UN work and raising awareness about cancer etc, and i also defend her against the Aniston loonies who blame her for ‘homewrecking’ while poor little altar boy Brad apparently had no say in the matter (ugh) but zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  11. Candice says:

There is nothing corny about the cover photo it is beautiful IMO.

    • MAC says:

I am absolutely in love with my husband and he is with me. In my experience that level of LOVE can not be faked. Great photo!

  12. silken_floss says:

I’m loving the 2 photo bombing fans in the first pic LOL. I would have been ecstatic too if I was being immortalized on camera with them

    • Antonym says:

I was going to type the same @silken_floss. I thought Brad was looking a little old, so I wanted to zoom in to see if my eyes were tricking me. My reward was those two smiling women! Their happiness made me smile.

P.S. After zooming in I just think this outfit makes Brad look his age, and im just used to him looking younger than his years. He’s still quite handsome in my book. (My bf looks similar to a younger BP, so of course I always find him handsome)

      • I think he looks a little older/more worn than usual because of the weight he lost to play that General in War Machine. Dude was long and lean, ran every day, and only ate one meal a day. Once he puts some weight back on, he’ll look a little younger….

  13. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I like the vintage feel of both their outfits and I like the cover shot, too. I will never understand why people get so emotionally invested in putting them down or worshipping them, but I like them together and admire her very much for her humanitarian work.

    • FLORC says:

You’ve said it all here GNAT. Well put.

    • Itsnotthatserious says:

I wouldn’t call it worship, I think she was attacked so much and demonized for a long time by the media and bloggers while the two people in the marriage got a pass. I know I became a big defender just for that reason. Over the years the attacks have lessened so I don’t even bother.
Having said that, I understand the fans knee jerk reaction because some of the posters here are on other sites wishing death on her and her children, they can’t do that here so they criticize her for even daring to breathe.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I didn’t mean to imply that anyone who likes or admires her worships her – I like and admire her. And the anti-Bradjaloonies or whatever are truly crazy. But she has some equally crazy fans posting on any Jennifer Anniston thread. That’s who I mean.

  14. lucy2 says:

I don’t like the dress at all. The color isn’t bad, but it’s so aging on her. I think you have to be a real fashionista to make some vintage-y pieces like that work, and she is not.

    • Esmom says:

Agree about the dress being aging on her. The color is lovely though and I like how it matches Brad’s shades. As for Brad, when he likes a look, he runs with it — this looks very similar to what he wore on the street for the bookstore trip. The scarves work on him — they are definitely nowhere near Depp levels of deployment.

    • Alice too says:

Nice to see her in colour, but the dress itself is awful and very matronly. The biege one with pleats the other day was even worse, the colour gradiation made it look as if she had spilled coffee down the front. Both dresses were probably very expensive but look like they were picked off the “frumpy” rack at Marks & Spencers.

She really needs to get herself a better stylist for the occasions where she wants to project “serious” rather than “glamorous” because I’m sure there were way better choices available than what she’s wearing here. Maybe she should be aiming for something a little more Jackie O than Nancy Reagan, she’s got the looks to pull it off.

  15. vauvert says:

So refreshing to see a woman who does not feel the need to always bring the sexy on. I am tired of the excuse of ” if you’ve got it, flaunt it” because it implies so many stupid things… Like if you don’t fit society’s current norm of beauty, then sure, wear a potato sack because you are not worthy. Or if you’ve got it, then flaunt it because unless your body is on display for public consumption we won’t pay attention to you… Or heck, show it because what else do you have to show? So yes, I love her dress because it actually does what it is supposed to do and actually covers her body.
He looks great and his way of wearing a scarf is totally cool, unlike McScarfy Depp. Hope he keeps his hair short and and his face clean shaven. Love those too and hope the movie is good, I love good period movies where for once nothing explodes and it is all about people and feelings😍

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’m sort of stalking you today, sorry, but I agree. I think she looks pretty and romantic. I’m so tired of sheer over granny panties or that hideous cheap looking “flesh toned” mesh with swirly vines and leaves covering and not covering your breasts and bottom. Not that I’m a prude, I just think it’s so tired and try hard and tacky. People say this dress is aging. I think she looks her age. She’s not 22. She’s beautiful the way she is, and I love that she feels she has more to offer than her body.

      • vauvert says:

Love your comments GNAT – I agree with you very often too!
I am pretty sure it is a vintage dress too, as Antonym says. I vaguely remember my mom wearing something like that at a party in the seventies: she was a hardcore fashionista and would have custom dresses made for parties, back when having a tailor was still something people did!

Now, as you say, it is all about how much you can show, which is pretty much everything. I expect that very soon the women will just go around naked on the RC with only a fan and some pearls on! With talons so sharp you wonder how they don’t scratch themselves when they shower and heels so high you know they are seconds away from falling backwards. But they always wave the “empowered feminist” flag as an excuse. To me being a feminist means being able to show up in a pantsuit and flats without ton of makeup, and being listened to because my opinion is intelligent, informed, on the topic and actually presents a solution to whatever we are discussing as opposed to having everyone ogle my butt and wonder whether I had my boobs done.

      • MAC says:

Yes I agree but can she please stop with the nude shoes. I think the dress with her current hair color and different darker shoes would be such a better look.

    • Antonym says:

I agree with you both. I think they both look good here. Their outfits are vintage-ish, and as a result I think they both look their age. Looking your age is not a negative. I think they are both pulling off the look. I also think that AJ’s dress might be actual vintage, it looks so much like my g-ma’s dresses from the 70’s (that she still wears regularly- I swear she has this dress).

      • antipodean says:

Vauvert, I have to say I love the sound of your mother and her tailored frocks, she sounds like a lovely well turned out lady. I miss the time when clothing was almost a work of art, but always adding to a woman’s style, and expressing her true character. I have a beautiful wool georgette black cocktail frock that my mother had made in Paris. I am just about able to wear it well if I wear good undergarments, and it always makes me feel divine. I have had many compliments about the dress, and that thing is coming up to sixty years old. It goes to show, style and good taste are timeless, and no-one really wants to see bosoms and bums hanging out all over the shop.

    • Jane says:

Scarfy Pitt’s way of wearing a scarf is basic, not cool. Nothing about him is cool.

    • V4Real says:

AJ is 40, she’s done the bring the sexy when she was a bit younger maybe she is just over it now.

  16. Susan says:

One thing you gotta say for Angie, love her or hate her: NO WIGLET WATCH!
Is it bizarre that I respect that she just wears her natural hair (unless in a movie)?

  17. Bettyrose says:

You know, they have six kids and all the money in the world. Where I live, 40 somethings still dress like they’re in their 20s, but kudos to them for looking like artistic, accomplished adults and leaving the yoga pants-I’m-still-young-and-cool vibe to the amateurs.

    • Sullivan says:

It’s refreshing to see two adults dress like adults. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they’re beautiful.

  18. Greenieweenie says:

I think she’s given up professional hair and makeup and just doing it herself. I notice her hair hasn’t been “done” in an appearance she forever and she always looks tired because she has very little makeup on.

But I’ll cut her some slack. She’s probably still going through menopause at age 39. Crazy.

  19. Jayna says:

It reminds me of a dress my mom used to wear, who was much older than 39 at the time, except the back. It just seems dated, not vintage. I don’t like the dress, but I love love love the color on her. It is a very flattering color for her. So that saves the dress, because the color is so beautiful.

  20. Oprah says:

Um, no. Brad looks ridiculous. That’s just not his look. Johnny looks good with all his scarves and stuff because all of that is HIS look. All the necklaces and rings given to him by fans actually mean a lot to him and that’s why he wears them everywhere.

    • BNA. FN says:

Brad really looks good, Angie looks very pretty. I love the love between Brad and Angelina, they are the real deal.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I disagree that Johnny Depp looks good in his scarfiness. He looks dirty and ridiculous and drunk, which he usually is.

      • Oprah says:

And I think he looks good. I would rather have a “dirty and ridiculous and drunk” Johnny Depp over a clean-shaven and ridiculous and unattractive Brad Pitt any day.

      • vauvert says:

My turn to say I agree with GNAT. I used to be a huge Depp fan. Not anymore. I don’t care who gave him the scarves and rings and necklaces and ratty hats, that doesn’t make them look good, and wearing a collection of his gifts doesn’t make them, or him, look good. If he wants to honor his fans, good for him, he could always pick one item at a time. Even so, I seriously doubt the ridiculous lifts he has been sporting, and the safety pins in his ear are also worn because his fans gave them to him. The point is that everything together, coupled with his messy drunk act, looks the opposite of cool.
        I much prefer “boring” Brad.

      • Oprah says:

@vauvert Oh, so you used to be “huge fan” of Depp’s looks.

I’m a huge fan of HIM and his wonderful work. I’m ok with him aging naturally without getting work done like Brad.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

        @Oprah
Well, we just disagree. I’m not even sure why I bothered to say what I did. That’s what makes the world go around.

    • Tallia says:

I love the color on Angelina and I like the style of the dress, it fits with the movie genre. If Brad were to lose the ridiculous blue glasses and scarf, I would like the outfit. I imagine he has had some upkeep work done so the hat and glasses are supposed to distract. Johnny Depp. Let us bow our heads in silence for his passing… what the heck happened to that talented, attractive man? Oh the sadness.

      • Jane says:

Nothing happened to the man. He is still attractive and he just gave one of his greatest performances in Black Mass. He is 52 yo, it’s tacky to crap on him for not looking like he did years ago. Brad doesn’t look anything like he did in his youth and you all pretend that he still looks the same.

      • Tallia says:

Jane, we will have to agree to disagree. I thought his performance in Black Mass was all over the place, kinda like his “accent”. I am not crapping on him for being 52 and not looking like he did 30 years ago. He simply looks bloated and ill-kept as of late, IMHO. Brad does not look the same as he did either, but Brad has never been my cup of tea and I firmly suspect his hat and glasses are to cover recent work he has done.

      • @Tallia
You really think Brad’s had work done? He literally just finished filming. Filming from late August until a week ago. I think he looks a little different, a little older because he had to lose weight to play as General M.–dude was whippet thin. Tall and thin/lithe. I do think that Brad has gone to get his skin done at some point, because he used to have really bad skin when he was younger, but other than that he’s always looked pretty much the same. He usually gets a little squinty (well he always was) when he gains more weight in his face, now that he’s getting older.

      • Oh please says:

@Talla His performance (and accent) in Black Mass is far from all over the place. It was perfect.

    • I think the blue sunglasses are a little ridic….but other than that? If he’d been wearing slacks it’d have been a little more formal…….but I think he looks pretty good. He looks thinner/better with more weight on him.

      • Ennie says:

Virgilia, when one starts wearing glasses, one usually becomes a glasses nerd or a gasses fashionista. I’ve been wearing them for ages , and I usually would not go for the safest conservative looking frames.
I looove some sunglasses and fares out there, but many are too expensive for me.
Brad has exquisite taste in watches and frames. Some people may not know he has to wear glasses, they are prescription, not to hide some plastic surgery (LOL).

…And I’ve found JDepp less attractive lately, I admit, right before he dumped Vanessa, it was around Pirates 3 or 5… or was it 6? I do not like to compare men, they are different. Johnny has been looking too aging-rockstar for my taste in later years, he really bought the Cap JAck look.

    • Leonie says:

Depp looks good? He looks fat, bloated and like he showers every 6 months. No woman finds that attractive. So what you want about Brad, at least he looks clean and is attractive and at a good weight. Depp is disgusting.

  21. Crumpet says:

She looks great. He looks … dowdy.

  22. harlequin says:

Omg I love the cover! I think they look so hot!!

  23. Armenthrowup says:

    Nope.

  24. antipodean says:

Kaiser, you slay me, a scarf in the back pocket for emergencies is my new accessory! Because you never know when you may need one!
As for the Jolie Pitts, lovely people doing lovely things, end of, and good luck to them I say. Who would wish them ill?

  25. taboo says:

They are both gorgeous, but she would look so much better without those giant balloon breasts always threatening to topple her tiny frame. What an odd choice for her.

    • WinnieCoopersMom says:

I agree. Why did she get them so big? Like you said, odd choice for her.

    • Ennie says:

Maybe they were what the doctors recommended. Also, I’ve read that one never knows exactly how implants in a reconstructive surgery are going to look exactly after they fall in the place they will finally be.
Remember that she does not have any mammary glands to soften the look, or much fat in her body or ches either.
If she’d chosen them smaller, they’d probably be lower on her wide torax and her upper chest would look unflattering. With these, she has some cleavage, not a look like LeAnn or some others where the implants drift away from one another. These are bigger, but seem to have settled and are not bad. She is very slim, thin, even, but she has wider bone structure. I bet the doctors saw that. These implants, without natural tissue around them , were never going to look natural.

  26. Heather says:

I like Angie’s dress – it is really pretty and it suits her figure! But, I would change those “Princess Kate” shoes out! She would look great with a killer pair or shoes, maybe something that would distract from her bird-like ankles. I think she also could have done better on the hair and makeup – she has such a stunning face, she should accentuate it and get a great hair/makeup person. Let’s face it, her face is what makes her beautiful, her body has never been all that and it has not aged well….so accentuate your best asset, they say!

Brad looks better than usual, I also agree his clean-shaven look is so much better than the scruff! His body is in great shape and he wears the sh@t out of some pants in a sexy way! The only thing I would change is the glasses – they just age him. Maybe a different pair, something like I saw Jon Hamm had on recently (pictures were up yesterday on Lainey).

As for the Vogue Italia shots – love them! No matter what you feel about this couple, there is no denying they take some beautiful photos together! Meow!

  27. Addison says:

… an emergency scarf in his back pocket. LOL this is going to crack me up today whenever I remember it. LOL

  28. Tina says:

This couple is simply amazing. I have nothing else to say.

  29. Eleonor says:

Duchess Kate would totally wear that dress !
    My first thought.
    I like it.

  30. desertrose says:

A picture of marital bliss, right? Brad needs to put a little more effort into dressing himself and she needs to lighten up.

  31. Here or there says:

The DailyMail has a ton more photos. Let’s just say Brad has never looked more botoxed or tweaked.

    • boredblond says:

Blind gossip last week had a list of the procedures, but hey they worked! His face, in the premier shots, looks ten years younger..though I admit I miss the bit of roughness he was starting to get as he aged.

      • Jayna says:

He looked his age in the Today Show interview. I saw no tweaking at all. Heavy, puffy eyelids, normal for a man of his age. Not a pulled tight face. A very handsome man, more handsome than most men his age, but not necessarily a man who looked younger than his age. And if he did, it would only be that he could pass for mid to late 40s.

    • siri says:

I think he looks rather feminine in those pics, not tweaked. It’s probably that hat…

  32. Yepisaidit says:

A lot of people complain about her breast and size well you will be getting the chance to see them in By The sea. She gave a fab interview to NYT and she mentions the scene and why she left it in the movie

    • Jayna says:

I would never critically judge what someone’s breasts look like who had a double mastectomy and had breast reconstruction. Boob jobs done normally can be hard to judge what you get or want or how they turn out because of how you’re built. Doing it without tissue there, as my friend went through it with breast cancer, you can’t begin to visualize exactly what you get. For my friend, it was really hard, because she had full, large (not as large as Sofia Vegara) natural boobs that were fantastic. Her reconstructed breasts are not even close to what she once had, which she said is an adjustment at first. But she’s just thankful she was able to have reconstructed breasts, not like in the old days, and that her cancer was caught early. She went throught the whole picking a size and worrying about ending up too small, too big. It’s not easy figuring that out for reconstruction.

  33. Jayna says:

I think the New York Times interview with Angie is a fantastic interview.

  34. rice_bunny says:

First of all, seeing her wear COLOUR is a miracle (regardless if dress is kinda matronly-looking). So hallelujah to that! Also, I think she’s wearing the same dress from her press conference last Friday, but it was beige that time (don’t tell me she’s gonna be wearing this dress in every single color!)…
Secondly, is it just me or does anyone else kinda notice that she dresses according to her movies…like for Maleficient she wore matching-themed outfits (eg. the specially designed bloody thorn heels). And now with this 70s era film, she’s going for the vintage look…

  35. Kate Bush says:

The dress isn’t to my taste. Looks like it swamps her in a similar way to Kate’s blue one last week.
I know she has been this skinny for forever but I don’t think she looks well.

The shiny, stretched forehead is a dead giveaway for botox. SMH.

Well hello Mr and Mrs Jolie Pitt – looking mighty fine..

What was it people said yesterday – that Universal don’t like the movie and wasn’t promoting or doing anything? Well there was a screening yesterday and another on Saturday plus it is opening the AFI.

The movie is seen by the critics and the embargo will lift before the premiere..

She is a stunning woman, but I really wish she’d gain some weight. Some body fat with a bit of muscle tone would be good for her health and enrich her beauty. But mostly, and I say this with so much respect for what she has been through, I want to see her looking strong in body as well as spirit.

Se ve que Brad ama a su flaca. <3 It really looks like Brad loves his slim girl! The inside pics are beautiful.
They are into the theme of the movie!

Looks like she’s wearing an old lady dress! Other than the colour it’s ugly and ill fitting for her figure.
Not liking the hat on Bradster either!

It makes me happy to see them at least trying to be respectful to the artistic world behind them. I saw the argument on comment section the other day, major problem with leo is that he doesn’t really seem to take chances or believe in the artform he’s included. He’ll never figure out why he didn’t get his oscar, but I like what angie’s doing.
