Star: Everyone knows Miranda Lambert & Taylor Swift ‘can’t stand each other’

Has Miranda Lambert been secretly beefing with people right and left this whole time? That’s what I’m wondering now. The worst thing that ever could have happened to Miranda’s reputation already happened when Blake Shelton dropped divorce papers on her suddenly and somehow got a quickie divorce, then leaked some rumors about Miranda’s wandering eye. So, Miranda is in need of friends. High-profile allies who can buffer her from the bad gossip. Friends/allies like… Taylor Swift? Even though Swift has pretty much left country music, she’s still a well-respected and well-liked figure in Nashville. So when Taylor’s tour came to North Carolina, Miranda came out on stage with her and they sang one of Miranda’s hits. Classic Swifty, right? Miranda is now part of Swifty’s “squad.” Except not really.

Country fans were ecstatic when Miranda Lambert strutted out on stage during Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour stop in Greensboro, NC on October 21. Their reps deny it, but those close to the superstar singers say that despite their duet, they’re actually embroiled in a long-standing feud!

“The girls were anything but friendly that night,” says a source. “Miranda was miffed that Taylor flubbed several lines of ‘Little Red Wagon’ and also annoyed that Taylor made her wear a 1989 shirt.”

The tension dates back two years, says another insider, when the women got into a screaming match in downtown Nashville: “I think it had something to do with a collaboration that fell through,” explains the source. “Ever since then, they’ve been at odds. Miranda thinks Taylor is fake and tacky, while Taylor says Miranda is a bully and hates how she treats people, including her pal Blake Shelton. Everyone in Nashville knows these two can’t stand each other.”

So why the collaboration? Damage control. “Since Miranda’s divorce, her reputation is in the gutter,” explains the insider. As Star first reported, Miranda cheated on Blake with no less than five different men, some of them married. “The cheating, the lying, the drinking – that’s not what country fans like to see. So her management team begged Taylor for a duet to help boost Miranda’s image.”

But bad girl Miranda just couldn’t swallow her pride and make nice with the biggest pop star in the world. “It irks her that Taylor is still friends with Blake and has been a support system for him since the divorce. The two barely spoke to each other and Miranda left immediately after the song.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

Yeah… I know it’s “just Star Magazine,” but I totally believe this. I’m already primed to believe that Taylor Swift is a Mean Girl Wolf in Sparkly Princess Sheep’s clothing. I’m already primed to believe that Miranda is in need of some high-profile damage control too, and that she doesn’t play well with other women. And I laughed at Miranda being “annoyed that Taylor made her wear a 1989 shirt.” Like, I’ll go out on stage with you but you’re going to make me wear the t-shirt? Nah.

Speaking of Miranda having a bad week, many believe that Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s sudden confirmation of their coupled-up status was aimed at Miranda. For her part, sources claimed that Miranda was not surprised with the pairing. Now Us Weekly’s sources say Miranda “had her suspicions but didn’t really know it was a real thing until the announcement last night. But she doesn’t care. She’s divorced and he can date who he wants. She got divorced from him so he’s free to date whoever he wants. She’s fine.” Not to be pedantic, but HE divorced HER, not vice versa.

Miranda Lambert is such a talented song-writer. I love love love her music, and I dislike generic country usually.

  2. lolamd says:

Okay I am late to this piece of gossip but did Miranda really cheat on Blake?

    • InVain says:

I know that was what was initially reported….but now that things have cooled off it really makes me wonder too…did she really cheat? There are other reports out there that claim after her weight loss Blake got very jealous and possessive…. I was pretty diassponted with her when the divorce first came to light, but now I wonder and am starting to sympathize. Either way, not sure he was the easiest guy to be married to.

      • Zapp Brannigan says:

I feel sorry for her too and I know nothing about either of them, Lainey Gossip in particular is going after her hard with her “sources” in Nashville, articles on how hot Gwen and Blake are together make me think she is either on the pay role or she is smoking the good stuff.

      • Tammy says:

Blake and Miranda have the same management team so they most likely put a stop on the negative stories coming from each camp.

That being said, it has been rumored throughout their marriage she was cheating on him. He was also married at the time they started dating, so both of them have questionable judgment.

      • MichLynn says:

YUP I believe she was the cheater.Miranda is NOT the type to go quietly into the night with the magnanimous “he can date who he wants” if she was the wronged party. She would be shouting it from the rooftops. She knows she screwed up, she looked “sad” at the CMA’s, not pissed off. Plus she seems the type to “fight for her man”. Not just let him go with a quickie divorce. Blake filing makes it obvious to me.

      • Lady D says:

TMZ is running an article from Gavin, who has become most suspicious about the timing of their affair. He thinks its been going on for a lot longer than they say, and it’s because of money they have said nothing till just recently. There is a list of things he is slamming Gwen for this morning.

  3. nora says:

I just remember Taylor rolling her eyes one time when Miranda beat her for Vocalist of the Year at some awards show. I laughed because, come on Taylor, VOCALIST OF THE YEAR? You honestly thought you should take that one?

  4. Lou says:

No way. Taylor deals with people she dislikes and feels threatened by by isolating them. There is no way she would give Miranda the mainstream publicity of performing with her if she disliked her..

And lets not forget, Taylor had her own dalliance with a married man (i know her fans are gonna say that it’s ‘gossip’ but i believe it) so who is she to judge anyone else

    • Meaghan says:

Exactly. I find it hard to believe she would put somebody she hates on stage with her because she had nothing to gain.

      • nikkisixx says:

Wait how did I miss this Taylor gossip? Which married guy did she screw?

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

Rumors are Ryan Adams when he was still married to Mandy Moore. Bu tit was from a blind and everyone took that and ran with it. Never was verified.

      • Bridget says:

It was a blind… but Ryan Adams acted super weird about Taylor Swift. He is not exactly the kind of guy to do a giggly interview with America’s Pop Princess. This is a guy who *sigh* actually referred to himself as “Punk as F_ck” and thought dating Mandy Moore brought him too much scrutiny.

    • Alex says:

Eh I think Taylor believes in the keep enemies close…thing. She did the same thing with Ellie who cheated on Ed Sheeran. Normally that would get you the evil eye from Swiftie yet they started hanging out right after that debacle. Kendall was sorta in the squad but she was beefing with Selena who is Taylor’s Bff.
I think she collects her frenemies as well as friends. Classic mean girl move

  5. Emily says:

Still think it was tacky of Blake and Gwen to announce like that. The whole thing smells fishy to me.

  6. Alyce says:

I don’t think that Miranda is Taylor’s friend, but nothing they’ve done has indicated a feud. They performed together at the Greensboro show (I was there) and there was no indication of beef. Could it be that they are just two successful women who work together professionally and nothing else? No… they have to have a feud, right? Sigh.

    • lucy2 says:

The tabloids love to pit two women against each other.

    • kibbles says:

I agree. I think these two have a professional relationship and nothing more. They aren’t good friends but they aren’t on bad terms. I can’t imagine either of them would agree to share a stage together if they both really hated each other. It is a mutually beneficial work relationship. The end.

    • MC2 says:

@ lucy2- I agree! This story is silly- if Taylor hated her why would she agree to do a song with her at her concert? How does that make her a ‘mean girl’? And how did Miranda come out of the divorce the villan & Blake the sympathetic character? This is a weird story “women spend time together, publicly support each other but are really temper tantrum prone petty girls”….ugh!

  7. suze says:

    These women exhaust me.

  8. swack says:

Can we all get over the high school drama?

  9. Snazzy says:

Well that’s nice for them. I don’t like either of them. 😛

PS But I do love the gossip about both of them

  10. Allie says:

I feel like both of them are probably spoiled brats. They probably act nice when together, then make fun of each other when they walk away. I don’t get the appeal of either one.

  11. Nancy says:

Taylor/Miranda: Should we add Katy in on the mix. Taylor seems to have trouble with females it seems. I have read by her own admission Miranda knew Blake was a married man when she fell for him. I hate that, he’s married, what don’t you get, right he was miserable, like they don’t all say that. So for that reason alone, as difficult as it is to say, I’ll be team Taylor, but only this once.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

Plus all those rumors about Miranda and the married Dierks Bentley. I don’t even like country music and know about those rumblings (God, help me-LOL!). I think she really is a piece of work. Not to mention a seriously overrated singer, guess that is one thing both she and Swifty have in common.

  12. Tig says:

Is there anyone left to not “like” Taylor Swift? The narrative that two women in the same profession have to hate/scheme each other needs to be buried permanently. And a screaming match on the streets in Nashville? Righttttt. I totally understand not liking a celeb, but give TS credit- she started at 14/15, and has managed to stay relevant over ten odd years. It’s a rare performer who can make the transition from primarily teen audiences as she’s done.

  13. Jade says:

Miranda seems fiesty, I can’t see her going on stage in 1989 t-shirt unless she wanted to.

  14. Shambles says:

Miranda seems like a no bullsh!t type of woman, and Taylor Swift is made of bullsh!t. Marshmallow-scented bullsh!t. It would come as no surprise to me if they butted heads

    • ohdear says:

I think she’s a no bullshit when it comes to certain things, but I think she’s bullshit all over the place when it works for. She’s a bully and not nice. By her own admission – she has said herself that she worries, is a worst case scenario girl and goes down a negative hole a lot. Blake was the one that pulled her out of that. I think she talks tough, but I don’t think she walks a straight line.

    • vespernite says:

      HA! “Marshmallow scented bullshit”
This just made laugh out loud and scare my cat!

  15. Leah says:

Doesn’t taylor have a beef with practically everyone? So probably. Who cares though? I wanna see the photos of Blake and Gwen holding hands. I am still in shock, strangest couple ever.

  16. Brittney B. says:

I don’t have anything to say about this supposed feud (besides the fact that high-profile men never get pitted against each other like this without proof)… but… this line cracked me up:

“The cheating, the lying, the drinking – that’s not what country fans like to see.”

Sounds like the Holy Trinity of country music to me! I guess I need to reevaluate everything I thought I knew about the genre.

    • Shambles says:

Lmao, great point. Has this person ever even heard a country song? If it doesn’t involve whiskey, a truck, someone cheating on someone, a gun, and short denim shorts it’s not country.

      • WinnieCoopersMom says:

HAHAH exactly!!! Dont forget about dogs, boots, beer, back seats and Dixie cups.

      • puravidacostarica says:

“Dogs, boots, [tequila], back seats and Dixie cups” — sounds like LeAnn Rimes’ whole entire life.

    • InvaderTak says:

You’re talking about real country though. Not the craps these “artists” put out. Now it’s about the soccer mom’s and moral high ground crowd. The real ones aren’t welcome in Nashville anymore. Jamey Johnson has a good quote about it that I can’t find but he basically trashed it all.

  17. Jayna says:

Did anyone think those pink pieces in her hair at the CMAs was a sly dig at Gwen? It’s the first thing I thought of. Gwen loves pink in her hair. And Blake has just announced he was seeing Gwen the day before.

    • Brittney B. says:

Actually, two hours before! So I doubt she had time to plan something like that.

    • notsoanonymous says:

Admittedly, I’m a big fan of Miranda so take it for what you will – but I don’t think they were a dig at Gwen (I grew up listening to No Doubt and I think she’s fab, too)

Miranda has always loved pink and has been using the color for a long time – she plays a pink sparkly guitar often, sings into a pink mic, etc. I’ve seen her live numerous times, and both of those have been appearing since Kerosene.

  18. suzanne says:

The old photo of those two cracks me UP! I forget what Taylor looked like when she started out…

    • justagirl says:

Is it really an old photo? Because that looks like the “mom hair” everyone criticized her for last year…that she still kind of has. Whenever it was taken, Taylor’s makeup person managed to make her look 45 with bad filler & botox. Karma can find the strangest ways.

      • notsoanonymous says:

I think it was last years ACMAs. When Taylor first came out, she was in super long ringlet curls and blue eyeshadow.

  19. Keriann says:

I call B.S. on this one.

  20. lila fowler says:

Miranda is a shameless homewrecker. Who cares? Team Swifty.

  21. Dirtydishes says:

I live in Nashville and Taylor is not as highly respected as you might think but then again most here know her back story is completely fabricated. Sure people like to work with her/perform with her but she barely wrote a thing in her last 2 albums. She pulled a Beyoncé and bought off the shelf making slight changes. Miranda is not respected as an artist. She slept around and mean girled A LOT but they don’t have a beef with each other.

  22. flutters says:

I don’t get this Miranda “needs” friends to cushion the blow from bad gossip. If you look at Nashville media, including the Tennessean, Blake Shelton is getting hard-core side-eyed right now for the timing of the relationship confirmation with Gwen Stefani. A Tennessean article talked about how it once again put the focus on his celebrity instead of his music.

Miranda won Female Vocalist for the 6th consecutive year (a lot of people thought somebody else should have won because she’s lost a lot of momentum this year but the point is, it showed the industry’s still on her side), Blake did not win Male Vocalist. Miranda performed an honest song about dealing with your own flaws and was pretty emotional about it. She came off as much more sympathetic at the CMA Awards. Blake came off as a Hollywood jerk trying to pull focus.

I think it’s possible Miranda did have a long-term affair and that’s why Blake ended the marriage. But he’s completely mishandling the rollout of this new relationship and right now, Nashville is definitely Team Miranda.

By the way, Miranda was angling to be one of Taylor’s special guests a few months ago when she gave a social media shoutout to Taylor over “Bad Blood.” So I wasn’t surprised when the invite to Taylor’s concert happened. But the performance was lackluster. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were disappointment on both sides over it. I don’t think they’ve been locked in any kind of feud though and I also don’t think Taylor’s been secretly supportive of Blake in this, either.

  23. vespernite says:

Miranda is not a nice person. She is self-centered and childish. I have never liked her vibe…very, very, very try hard! The thirst is real with that one.

  24. Kelly says:

How is Taylor Swift the Mean Girl? If the story is true, she appeared on stage with Miranda to help her. I love Taylor. Miranda, not at all, she seems like a nasty person.

  25. kate says:

I will forever love the stylist who put Taylor in that catsuit. You have to hate a person a lot to find something that makes them, an uber thin and tall young woman, look like they’re 5 months pregnant and wearing pleather maternity overalls.

  26. Meg says:

he divorces her then gets with a newly divorced woman himself, but it’s Miranda who needs damage control not blake? what a sexist industry country music is

  27. lunchcoma says:

I don’t think these two women particularly like each other, but I don’t think they’re actually feuding. Taylor has long since positioned herself as a pop artist while MIranda is solidly country, so I don’t think they cannibalize each other’s fans. I can’t imagine they’d have reason to fight over back up dancers, or have any other professional feud.

There’s also…I wouldn’t say an age difference, since Miranda is only 31 and Taylor is 25…but I’d say there’s a stage of life difference. Taylor hangs out with 23-year-old Karlie Kloss, 20-year-old Gigi Hadid, and 18-year-old Lorde. I know less about who Miranda is friends with, but she’s only just divorced 39-year-old Blake Shelton. I get the feeling that Taylor doesn’t hang out with many people who are past their 20s, and I’m guessing Miranda is more interested in friends who are in their 30s. And as they’re not competing for the same people, I don’t see many grounds for a personal feud.

  28. Marianne says:

I don’t know if I totally buy it. No, I don’t think each other are best friends by any sort of long shot, but if they hated each other that much, I doubt they would go onstage together. Even if you want to argue that Miranda needs the good press and would do whatever…its not like Taylor needs it, and could easily find someone else.

And nobody else has had to wear Taylor merch at the concert, so I also don’t believe she was forced into wearing it.

  29. My two cents says:

Star trying to spin a story out of nothing again. I’ve never understood the hype over Miranda. I don’t think her voice is all that and neither is her performance. Anyway, I’m sure they are like cordial business acquaintances but beyond that they are in different places.

  30. Katie says:

Regardless of what truth there is in this, Miranda comes out looking much worse. Taylor is immature and needs to grow up but Miranda is old enough to know better.
