Jennifer Lawrence in Dior at Paris ‘Mockingjay’ premiere: fug bridal sack?

FFN_BESTIMAGE_HUNGER_GAMES_PARIS_11092015_51903566

I remember little Jennifer Lawrence back when she was doing her first big promotional tour for the first Hunger Games movie. It was obvious that the studio had gotten her a stylist, and her fashion during that tour was very hit-or-miss. Mostly, it felt like J-Law’s personal style was missing and she was being told what to wear. Jump ahead to the past few years, where J-Law is now the biggest A-list movie star under the age of 30, she has a lucrative Dior contract and an Oscar and everything else. And it still feels like her personal style is missing from the promotional tour.

My guess is that J-Law is 100% contractually obligated to wear Dior to any and all red carpets. That being said, she probably gets the first pick of all of the current Dior designs. So there’s no excuse for this. She wore this awful tent dress to the Paris premiere of Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2. This is easily the worst Dior she’s worn the entire tour, and in PARIS. The fashion capital of the world! La tragédie! J-Law has one of the best figures in Hollywood too, so why in the world would you put her in a shapeless bridal sack? PS… are those GD feathers on the cuff?

FFN_BESTIMAGE_HUNGER_GAMES_PARIS_11092015_51903569

Her Paris photocall look (also Dior) was much better. If this had been a full-length gown, it would have been great for the premiere. And if the sack-y premiere dress had been a mini-dress, it would have been decent for the photocall. Just goes to show you… Raf Simons had no idea what the f—k he was doing. I will say this though – J-Law’s makeup and hair game has improved a lot over the past few years. I love this shade of blonde she’s got now and her makeup looks fresh and pretty.

Virgin sacrifice was what popped into my head first.

Muumuus by Kitten™ Is what popped into mine.

      • Lilacflowers says:

It seems to be lacking in Dorito dust.

      • mimif says:

All Muumuus by Kitten™ come with a patented stain resistant coating that repels Dorito Dust, BBQ nachos and booze.

      • Kitten says:

BBQ nachos with burnt ends, man. RIGHTNOW.

I have a feeling that she has a full bar hidden underneath that muumuu. FWIW, Muumuus by Kitten™ also come with cup holders. Additionally, one can also put their weed in there, if one so desires.

      • mimif says:

I’m anxiously awaiting your spring line with the Secret Marsupial Pouch®. My cup holders are blown out.

Where does one store the Cheeze-its?

      • mimif says:

Clearly Kiddo’s hiatus means she’s perfecting the Edible Cheez-It’s Necklace, which would be stunning with this ensemble.

      • Janetdr says:

Haha! Seriously though, I believe it is some kind of competition on how to make a lovely young woman look odd. If she can’t pull it off, who could? The shorter look is not hideous , but still, I could dress her better out of my closet which contains some actual muumuus.

      • Kitten says:

@Lilac-There’s a pop-up bowl for nutritious snacks like Cheez-its. There’s also a wet-nap dispenser for removing Dorito dust from hands—also useful for when Mimif drunkenly spills her mimosa on my muumuu and far more polite than throwing a vodka at her head in retaliation.

Ghosts Slumber party popped into mine.

      • Willa says:

She’s just missing The Bride of Frankenstein wig and her look would be complete.

      • CORA says:

Ha! OMG..that is the bride of Frankenstein’s dress! Good call! Lmao

By the way, has she taken to electrolysizing her hairline too? Ugh, I hate that Kim kardashian clean up manicured forehead lace-frontish look.

‘Baby hair,’ is not the devil people, dang.

      • Kitten says:

I don’t get why you would assume she got electrolysis on her forehead?

I have a bunch of baby hairs on my hairline and depending on how I style my hair, when it’s pulled back sometimes you just don’t see them. And I have chocolate brown hair so with blonde hair like Jen’s, it’s likely that they are there, just not readily visible.

      • CORA says:

        @kitten

        Calm down.

Blonde baby hair is often visible. If it’s not, it could mean you really don’t have much. That could be true of of all hair colors.

So maybe she doesn’t have that much baby hair at all, or, maybe she brushed it back with hair spray, or maybe she’s wearing a lace front for a film, or maybe she had electrolysis.

I wasn’t making a definitive statement. I ASKED THE QUESTION because her hairline looked way high and there is hardly any baby hair.

Upon a google search, and looking at older pics of her, i’ve concluded that she just has a very round, super high, mostly clean forehead dome, naturally.

        Satisfied.

      • Kitten says:

        How am I not calm?

I was genuinely asking how you could tell. I wasn’t sure if there was some sort of definitive way of telling whether someone had baby hairs or not. Most of mine came in from taking Biotin but I remember my hairdresser saying that not everybody has them.

        *shrugs*

      Gigantic milkmaid.

    • mandy says:

I do think she doesn’t care – just wears wahtever they give her. I think you are wrong though- She is not just the biggest under 30 female movie star- she is the biggest female movie star period.

      • CORA says:

        @Mandy

Hi. Can you, or someone answer this objectively?

Has she ever opened a film, under her own steam (headlined) that was NOT a franchise/super hero marvel comic trilogy machine?

Because I recall everyone used to poo-poo Kristen Stewart, when her rabid fans said she was the biggest movie star in the world (rightfully so) however Stewart kind of proved she had the right stuff when she sold Snow White and her fans turned out in droves. She actually *was* the draw that sold the tickets.

She kind of ruined her whole trajectory with the Pattinson bust up and Rupert Sanders mess, and her overall ghastly personality that people weren’t willing to embrace after that.

        But still….

I don’t recall any original film starring Jlaw, that made money JUST because her name was on the marquee.

I know she made a horror film that released after she won Oscar that bombed.

I think THAT is the true test of a BONAFIDE movie star, when people see your movies, not because you’re starring in a huge young adult franchise that could have cast my grandma in the lead and been a hit, and not because you’re wearing a cape (hello Christian bale – anyone go to see his Moses movie? Yea, see.)…

…but because your name is on the poster of a wide releasing film of which just YOU are the draw.

Let me know, when she does it. She hasn’t done it yet.

Until she does it, she won’t be the biggest movie star in the world. As we all know she sure doesn’t/wasn’t getting paid like one. The studio guys might actually say that was their reasoning for short shrifting her. Open a film Jen.

      • Korra says:

That movie flopped critically but it didn’t bomb commercially. It made quite a bit.

      • CORA says:

        @KORRA

Which movie are you talking about?

If you’re talking about the horror movie she headlined, which released in over 3000 theaters *after* Lawrence won Oscar, ‘House at the End of the Street,’ it grossed only 12 mil on it’s opening weekend, and had lifetime worldwide gross of only $38 mil.

        That’s a flop.

If you’re talking Bale’s Moses movie – domestically it didn’t even cross 100 mil, petered out at 65 mil. It did 20 mil less than Russell Crowe’s Noah’s Ark. Lol It had a production budget of 140 mil. Overseas it made up for it. But still, that movie did Bale’s career no favors IMO.

      • korra says:

…Where the hell did Bale’s movie come up?

And no it wasn’t a flop commercially. You have to look at it in relation to it’s production and marketing budget which you apparently did for Bale’s movie. For a movie with a budget of 12-15 million, made 12 million opening weekend (so returned on its production budget in opening weekend) and continued until it was total worldwide gross of 38 million is not a commercial flop. It’s not exceptional, but it’s not a flop. It’s not a high point and it doesn’t show Jlaw’s capable of opening ANY film, but it’s not a black mark on her commercial success either.

      • Lou says:

@CORA – Kristen had the same personality when Snow White opened. People on gossip blogs like this still hated her because of whatever reasons. The Rupert thing just gave them an excuse that they are clinging to with their whole heart and will forever more. Which says a lot about the mindset towards women who make mistakes when they are young.

    • Pandy says:

Crimson Peak called – they want the nightgown back. That’s what popped into my head.

    • CTgirl says:

JLaw has morphed into Elsa Lancaster as the Bride of Frankenstein.

  2. Sara says:

I love her hair length. I think many women cling to long hair when they would look nicer with a bob or a shorter hairstyle.

    • Locke Lamora says:

I like the lenght too, but she would look much more striking with dark hair.

    • Natalie says:

I think her hair colour has changed to a cooler tone and more ashy – I love it!

    • sarah says:

Yes i LOVE this lob/long bob look. It looks so good on her.
For her dress, JLaw has no natural “fashion” sense so i don’t think it’s a big deal when she wears something like this. I like the braid thing though!

  3. AG-UK says:

Baptist church baptismal (where dunking is in order) or choir.

    • Locke Lamora says:

I like it too. I think it’s the best dress she wore on this promo tour. I also liked Dakota’s dress.

      Ups, wrong spot.

  4. Me too says:

I must have truly awful fashion sense because, just like Dakota’s dress yesterday, I like it.

    • Armenthrowup says:

@Me too – me too! I kind of like the 70’s vibe it gives off – reminds me of the virginal women in old Hammer Horror movies!

      • Kitten says:

That’s why I love it. Besides the comfy muumuu aspect, I love that 70s vibe. It’s really cool IMO.

    • jeanpierre says:

      Me too, me too.
I like the first dress. It’s beautiful and appropriate for the évent I think. The second dress is just fug especially with those fug black shoes.

    • Josephine says:

I like it, too. Every dress can’t be short, or showing off side-b**b. It’s nice to see something different, and I find it elegant. I think she wears it well.

    • Rainbow says:

Ι like it too. I looks a little bit like a grandma’s nightgown but I like it.
The second look is way worse. And these boots are awful…

    • Em' says:

Me too. The dress is beautifully tailored

    • Crumpet says:

I like it too! And I love her makeup and her new hair. Blond really suits her, and this cut is sophisticated and showcases her fabulous cheekbones.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

So do I. I have no explanation, but I think she looks really pretty.

    • SheDevil says:

I love it. The first long flowing one. I don’t like to wear tight things so this is my kind of dress. Plus I think she looks beautiful.

    • Hally says:

Dakota’s dress was nice. This is just a nightgown. A very nice nightgown.

    • Lucky says:

      I LoVE it!

    • Chinoiserie says:

Her hair looked amazing as well, I would like to try those small beans and braid style. Maybe I would have had a very loose belt with the dress so there some shape but it probably would have looked worse with it.

    • teacakes says:

same here – I love the strong shoulders on it and it looks like it flows beautifully when she walks.

I also hated the purple Dior she wore in Berlin which Kaiser loved so much, so much for my fashion sense, ha.

    • Fishfishbirdcats says:

I like them both, but the long one is my fave of the two.

  5. paolanqar says:

It looks like Jlaw and Woody Harrelson were headed to a slumber party: Woody showed up in his Pjs and with socks and no shoes.

What is wrong with Dior? It seems like they’re going to great length to hide Jlaw’s waist in the latest red carpets.

    • Naya says:

Thank you for bringing up Woody Harrellson. Dude showed up in pajamas, socks and no shoes and he gets zero mention? At least Jlaw tried, this guy was clearly shading his own film. Come on! I hope that when Kstew shows up to a premiere in her jammies, everyone is as chill as this about it.

  6. astrid says:

Oh my!. She’s such a beautiful young woman and rarely dresses well for photo calls and red carpets.

  7. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It doesn’t bother me for some reason. I think she looks pretty. I don’t like the second look very much, mainly because I think there are about two people in the world who look good in bare legs and boots. It’s just stupid. I know stockings are unfashionable because younger women hate them, but going without them in a dress looks unfinished and unpolished imo.

  8. LadyJane says:

I like the fug bridal sack. It’s nice to mix it up once in a while, no?

  9. Lou says:

W_T_F is that … it’s up there with that hideous creation Nicole Kidman wore recently. Jennifer tends to have assy style anyway. Is she still with Rachel Zoe?

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

Zoe is not her stylist anymore

      • Lou says:

ooh wonder what happened there. That has to be an awkward conversation, and it’s not like Zoe is gonna drop one of the biggest movie stars in the world…. but seeing as her style is still assy, i think Jennifer has to take the blame.

  10. Ninks says:

The runway version is almost sheer, so I’m happy to see JLaw wore this with a lining. I hate the sheet trend with every fibre of my being. And for once it’s nice to see an actress wear long sleeves and something remotely warm looking on a red carpet in November, instead of trying to show as much skin as possible. The dress looks comfortable. She and Hemsworth look like they’re getting married.

  11. L says:

Maybe she was feeling PMS-y and bloated? It’s a perfect dress for one of those days!

  12. Erandyn says:

    Romulan bridal sack at that.

  13. Tig says:

This shade of white is a bit harsh on her. The dress itself is pretty blah. Agree- wearing these boots with the second dress makes her legs look stumpy.

  14. Beatrice says:

That would look perfect on Kim Kardashian–Jennifer Lawrence, not.

    • Josephine says:

No way – it’s not a dress for someone with a large chest. These dresses look best on women with straight up-and-down figures.

  15. Lilacflowers says:

Jennifer missed Halloween but really wanted to wear her Elsa Lancaster Bride of Frankenstein costume any way.

  16. vauvert says:

That dress would definitely make peeing in a sink difficult, right? Can’t even see the fashion – all I ever think looking at her pics is her statements about not washing her hands after using a bathroom, farting etc. why a pretty, famous young woman would create this image for herself, I don’t know. She gets away with it now. I am convinced that in five years she will be on Ellen, telling us how it was all a joke, when the young ingenue act so full of realness doesn’t cut it anymore.

    • Jbap says:

I actually think her personal style has been consistently excellent over the last year or so, and that she’s finding her way. I also think the recent Dior efforts haven’t been bad at all. I’m not gone on the nightgown, but the second outfit is excellent.

    • Dana says:

lol she actually posted on her official Facebook page yesterday to explain her hand washing comment, she said she was trying to gross out josh and liam but she ended up grossing out the world. she does wash her hands and I was watching the live stream yesterday for the premiere and after shaking hands with the reporters and such you can see her sanitizing her hands.

    • Chinoiserie says:

The hand washing was obviously a joke and she clarified it.

  17. Ana A. says:

Not sure if I like it. She looks like La Dame Blanche. I fully expect her to haunt some places and lurk innocent people into despair dressed like this.

  18. Veronica says:

Eh, it’s not good, but it’s nowhere near as bad as some of the really early stuff she was in. She is very slowly starting to gain a sense of style – I’ve noticed her use of neutrals is a lot better than it was, anyway.

  19. Lucy says:

I loved it, actually! Very Princess Leia-esque. And she seemed to like it a lot as well, from the videos I’ve seen. Loved the braids too!

  20. Dana says:

I love her hair and make up and I think white looks great on her.

  21. Minxx says:

I don’t mind the long dress but she should wear a bra more often – lifting the girls would make her look more shapely, less like she’s wearing a moo-moo. Hair and makeup are nice. Hate the short dress with a strange belt and even stranger booties – definitely do not flatter her figure.

  22. Lily says:

HER FASHION DURING THE FIRST HUNGER GAMES TOUR WAS AMAZING. I’m pretty sure she had the same stylist as for the Winter’s Bone award circuit.
The minute she got Rachel Zoe and Dior everything went downhill.

  23. smcollins says:

I think she looks very pretty…ethereal. I think I get what they were going for, but juuuuuuust missed the mark. It’s a little too loose which kind of kills any flowy vibe they may have been going for. She definitely looks comfy, though.

  24. What's Inside says:

Dior obviously envisions J Law as one of their waif models and I hate to tell them that “it just ain’t so.” This would work for Bride of Frankenstein, but the hair is wrong. Otherwise I think she is the bomb and that she really needs to be dating Prince Harry.

  25. saywhatwhen says:

Over at the D MK says that Patrick Dempsey’s wife is traveling with Jennifer to do her make-up. These media tours must cost the studios a mint because she gets to carry her own make-up artist. What about hairdresser, etc. The movie industry blows my mind.

Also on another note, Dempsey and his wife were seen hand-in-hand in Paris and also cycling together. Are they getting back together. Tell us nuh Celebitchy.

  26. leif says:

I never understood why Dior chose her as one of their brand ambassadors. Lawrence doesn’t look good in their makeup or their clothing. I get Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard, etc. But Lawrence? She is also too young to be the face of a brand like that too.
I mean their target market is older women too and JLaw appeals to young kids mostly. Very odd choice.

    • Fanny says:

Can we get a title correction on this? She wasn’t at the Catching Fire premiere, that was 2 years ago.

    • FingerBinger says:

@leif Dior is trying to get a younger demographic. It’s the same reason why Estee Lauder chose Kendall Jenner. They want the twitter and instagram generation.

    • belle de jour says:

Tricky thing to do without alienating their loyal followers and messing up their well-established brand. I don’t think they’re doing a good job of it at all… and I bet they’re going to miss the buying power of their original demographic.

(When I was a young fashion pup, I remember learning that you ‘grew into Dior’ – and the name was held in reverence as a sort of sophisticated lady rite of passage. So that’s changed:)

      • Mary-Alic says:

Nothing has changed. I grew up with this same attitude, as did the older women in my family. Dior went from selling the haute couture to the insanely rich matronas to selling colourful handbags series to the Instagram bloggers. The financials didn’t look the same. Rest assured Raf didn’t just leave without being advised how the budget was meeting the expectations. Not. The problem is how to get back now.

  27. dani says:

Get a new stylist, girl. Unless it’s her own style…never dresses well enough for her body and shape. Ugh.

  28. Toniko says:

Is she loosing her hair? that hairline looks very Beyoncious..

  29. The Original Mia says:

I actually thought that was Chloe Sevigny in that header pic. No bueno, Jen. No bueno.

  30. Nikki says:

I see Bride of Frankenstein for the dress, but otherwise she looks STUNNING to me. Love her hair and makeup!

  31. Alexa says:

I think she looks absolutely gorgeous . . . and extremely sexy in spite of being completely covered up. Just beautiful!! (And THANKFULLY it’s something different. )

  32. InvaderTak says:

As I went down in the river to pray, studyin’ about that good ol way and who shall wear the starry crown, good Lord show me the way…

  33. Bread and Circuses says:

Whatever they did to her eyebrows in the bridal sack dress was so odd I honestly did not recognize her the first time I looked at the picture. After a moment, I recognized the lower half of her face, but the eyebrows and eyes still looked like someone else.

  34. Carmen says:

*gives side-eye* You’re going out in that?!

  35. Liz says:

The long nightgown dress is weird but Jennifer looks so beautiful and angelic that she pulls it off. Seriously she looks so great you only stare at her face. When I first looked at the photos I wondered it that was a new blond shade. Don’t know but it is very flattering. The shorter dress is not great either but once again her face overcomes it.

  36. Jen slayed the second look….. and thus she is allowed to be my bf’s vanilla boo lolol!!!
