Adele ‘would never disrespect’ Beyonce: ‘Obviously, Queen Bey to the day I die’

First of all, give Adele some props for hiring a Hot Bodyguard™. Is this guy as hot as Jennifer Lawrence’s Hot Bodyguard™? No, but he’s still pretty sexy. I kind of want to climb this guy like a tree. Anyway, these are some assorted photos of Adele out and about this week in NYC, with the Hot Bodyguard ™ in tow for nearly every outing. Yesterday, Adele did a concert at Radio City Music Hall and she did some press, including a “town hall” with SiriusXM and a sit-down with Zane Lowe on Beats 1. Here are some highlights from the interviews:

Adele on body image issues: “I do have body image problems for sure but I’ve had them all my life. There’s bigger issues going on in the world than how I might feel about myself. But mainly there’s only one of you, so why would you want to look like anyone else? Why would you want the same hairstyle as everyone else? And have the same opinions as everyone else?”

Her son Angelo: “I think everything else in my life now being about someone else and not about myself. Now he really slows the world down for me which I appreciate when I’m doing this kind of thing and when I’m not, you know everyday life is fast as well. And just the out of body experience of loving someone so much regardless of anything, and even the stuff I find really hard when I get stressed and wound up as well of being a mom teaches you stuff about yourself.”

She didn’t turn down a collaboration with Beyonce: “I would never disrespect her like that. I’m such a fan, oh my god.”

Who she listens to: “Obviously, Queen Bey to the day I die.” (She’s also a fan of Lana Del Rey, Alabama Shakes, Florence and the Machine, and Chvrches.)

Dropping her single “Hello”: “I did a Kim Kardashian… Thank god it wasn’t with my ass. It would’ve actually broke the internet if it was my bum!”

[From People & Vulture]

I knew Adele was a Beyonce fan – they’ve spent time with each other, and Adele has gone to several of Beyonce’s private concerts or parties in London over the years. I also think that while Adele has respect for what Beyonce does, Adele also recognizes that she’s a completely different kind of artist. As for Adele’s body image issues… I forgot how f—king tedious those questions are with respect to Adele. During the promotion for 21, she was asked constantly about her body and her weight. Enough, people.

Here’s the full “When We Were Young” song. I like it, but I think I like “Hello” more.

I love her voice, it has such a timeless quality to it. I do agree the questions about her body are way to annoying and not the reason why she is famous. She is not out there showing off her ass or anything so they are needless questions. Having said that however, when you are famous, people then you are open to anything and feel that they have a right to ask these questions.

That quote about Kim Kardashian and the internet made me laugh.

It must be weird for these celebrities to be asked to constantly reflect on themselves and how they feel about themselves. I get that they’re doing interviews, but it must be tiring for someone like Adele who doesn’t seem self-absorbed.

  3. Mimz says:

Yeah these questions are stupid but they will ask it forever, especially to artists who don’t “fit the mold”. besides I think she looks amazing.

  4. V4Real says:

Ok now the comment about dropping the single Kim K style was funny. At least she can poke fun at herself.

But just because Adele is a bit thicker then some starlets doesn’t mean she should be exempt from those body questions. JLAW is not constantly going around scantily clad and she gets those questions. Adele is fair game. It’s the type of question that most female celebs get asked on the reg.

As we can see Adele is much thinner than she was when 21 was released. I don’t think she wants to be thin but I’m pretty sure she wasn’t happy with her previous weight.

    • embertine says:

Disagree. The solution to asking women stupid questions about their weight is not to make sure you ask the same questions of all women. It’s to stop asking them at all.

      • V4Real says:

Don’t know what you’re disagreeing about because I didn’t say whether or not they should ask that question I just said that Adele is fair game to be asked the question.

      • embertine says:

You were saying she shouldn’t be exempt from those questions. I’m saying yes she should, and so should JLaw et al because they are stupid questions.

I listened to Hello and When We Were Young back to back and honestly they sound like the same song. I wont hate on her grind though, she seems like a sweet and fun person. I just bet Adele tells bawdy jokes about that delicious man when he leaves the room.

  6. antipodean says:

How much would I like to tangle with that HotBodyGuard? (Answer, a LOT)!

    • booboochile says:

Isn’t he the same bodyguard that put baby Justin Bieber back in his car seat when he was having a hissy fit?

  7. lower-case deb says:

i woke up to Youtube offering a treasure trove of Radio City recordings, i’m probably not the only one bawling to her Paris tribute with Hometown Glory.

    but… two new songs!
Water Under the Bridge sounds like fun:

but i absolutely adore the latin guitar sounding Million Years Ago:

apparently she sang the one she wrote with Bruno Mars too, but nothing on Youtube that i could find! i’m so curious! and jealous of the people who got to watch the concert live.

i read the banter was as funny as any standup comedian too. hope to see it when it’s finally December.

  8. AlmondJoy says:

I’m guessing there won’t be many comments, seeing as how people here love Adele but hate Bey 😂😂

    • COSquared says:

      +1*hides in a corner*

    • Nik says:

I was thinking the same. I’m noticing how no one’s commented on that (instead focusing on the weight question or the Kim K joke). Pretty telling since the Beyoncé response is in the title.

      • V4Real says:

Wait, no comments from Adele’s fans about Beyonce. Adele called Bey the Queen, they’ve even hung out. Where is the put down of Adele for liking Queen B. Yep, pretty telling.

        Silence….

    • embertine says:

🙁 I like both of them. I get that a lot of Beyoncé’s public interactions seem stage-managed and that puts some people off, but I still think she’s talented and a great role model.

Also, if she and Adele are looking for a third to go out for mojitos, I AM SO IN. What a girls’ night out THAT would be.

  9. Lucy says:

Only she can make me love her more just by wearing a good ol’ pair of chucks. Also, YAY for the hot bodyguard!!

  10. Tiffany says:

I would love to see her in another color besides black or dark blue.

    2 more days, ya’ll.

  11. word says:

Who exactly is this Bey Hive of crazy fans? I know people in real life that like Beyonce but never met an actual Bey Hive member who would live and die for her. Weird.

  12. Izzy says:

Sorry, but Adele’s voice is just SO MUCH BETTER than Beyonce’s. Or almost anyone else’s on the planet.

    • Harryg says:

It is. I don’t like Beyonce’s voice at all and I just can’t understand the whole queen bey thing at all. Solange is a better singer.

  13. lucy2 says:

If anyone turned down a collaboration, it would have been Beyonce. She is hugely successful, but Adele is in her own league in terms of voice. It’s nice they’re fans of each other, but I don’t think Adele is going to have very many other people willing to step up and sing with her and risk their ego being bruised.

(You know who seems to have stopped dropping Beyonce’s name every other day? Gwenyth)

  14. kimbers says:

    Adel is an artist
    Beyonce is a female vocalist

Let’s not get this shit twisted please. Beyonce can shake her ass, but so do strippers and chicks at the club…her voice isnt as golden as it used to be tbh..

  15. Diva says:

    I guess….why does everyone kiss Beyonce’s ass?
