There was some hilariously bad fashion on display last night at the American Music Awards (the poor man’s Grammys). You can read about some highlights from the night here – I only watched part of it and I agree that Selena Gomez’s performance of “Same Old Love” was one of the few bright spots. Anyway, one of the most important things you need to know about the AMAs is that Kendall and Kylie Jenner were there and they were some of the most “notable” people there. Sad, right? Kylie wore a custom dress from Bryan Hearns, and it looks like something that stepped off a lady of the night in 1985. Kendall wore Oriett Domenech and she either got bangs or added clip-in bangs. Whatever it was, it was not good.

I think Gigi Hadid has a pretty face and a great body, but this dress looks so trashy on her, and I’m not really crazy about the hair. The hair might be temporary – she seemed to indicate on the red carpet that it might be some kind of hairstyling “trick” (or a wig?). Gigi’s dress was by Bao Tranchi and it has a name: the “Ethereal Choker” gown. I do feel like Gigi hasn’t really learned how to dress for big red carpets yet.
Tove Lo is a really pretty young woman, but this dress – by Swedish designer Lamija Suljevic – is absolutely awful. Tove Lo might be one of my worst-dressed of the evening.
I really like Hailee Steinfeld, so it pains me to see her in this pop-starlet onesie by Zuhair Murad. All I have to say is: NOPE.
Ashley Benson in Max Azria Atelier was totally one of my favorites. I wish more of the younger girls realized that they could rock suits for red carpets. And look at Ashley in this crowded field of stupid style: she stands out AND she looks pretty.

I don’t like the Kardashians/Jenners and I don’t know why they’re at a music show; but Kendall looks smoking hot here. The fringe works, everything works. Poor Kylie disappears next to her. No wonder she has image issues. This family is 100% image and looks and it would be tough having a slightly older sister like that.
Agree, Kendall looks great…except for the fuzzy stuff on her shoulders…if someone had cut those “caterpillars” off the dress it would had been excellent and it’s clean cut would had shown better.
Yeah I liked Kendall, though I admit: tall, thin, model tends to help her wear some of the dresses others would crash and burn in.

I thought Kendall looked amazing! It’s one of the first times I actually thought she looked model-worthy. She needs to bring some of this attitude to her modeling, which usually is one-note and dead-eyed looking.
Kylie looked idiotic. She looks like a kid playing in adult clothes. Her makeup looks like crap too. Someone on LSA pointed out that since she wears soooo much makeup all the time, even just to go to the market, that her makeup at red carpets just looks the same, like there’s no difference, so there’s no impact. I have to agree. There’s no interestingness to her face or look.
I loved Hailee’s jumpsuit! It looked really cute in motion. Why are Kendall and Kylie even there? So annoying.
Why are they anywhere?
Many of the news sites covering the awards had Kendall, Kylie and Gigi as the main photos. For a music awards show. Of which none of those people are involved in the music industry. I feel frustrated on behalf of the actual artists that don’t get their due and attention.
Tove Lo (?) looks like she belongs in a dystopian future in which humanity has lost its sex organs.
People always complain about other sheer or cut out dresses that they’re wondering if someone’s bits will pop out and that’s never a consideration for me but here?

She looks like such an idiot in all of her red carpet pictures because she is constantly either grabbing at her crotch or her chest. Not sure if she does it purposely to draw attention or if she just needs a better stylist/taylor. Well, we know she needs a better stylist, but perhaps if her clothing actually fit she wouldn’t have to grab at herself.
I was just coming here to ask why Kylie always seems to be touching herself. I’ll-fitting clothes is as good an explanation as any. Too bad they can’t afford a tailor.

Yes, I believe the straps change from black to clear and I also noticed that Gigi is wearing the exact same shoes but in white.

Hailee is in a different category from the rest of them. She had multiple award nominations, including for an Oscar, for True Grit. She needs some meaty roles. I like the jumpsuit.

I actually thought Kendall looked cute and was dressed properly for the occasion. I think a lot of celebs get it wrong at award shows like this one by taking it too seriously. I don’t get the fuss over Kendall as a model, but I think she looks great here.
As for Hailee Steinfeld, I wouldn’t wear that romper (or any romper for that matter because I personally hate them), but I think it is age appropriate on her and works for the event. It’s fun and kind of costume-y, which in my opinion is what works well at this kind of award show.
