When I was looking through the photos from last night’s London premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I was genuinely surprised when these two popped up. I shouldn’t have been surprised though – Benedict Cumberbatch has always been very open about his Star Wars fan-boyism and there were even stories that Benedict had a small part in The Force Awakens (he does not, right?). Plus, Benedict knows and loves JJ Abrams. Abrams cast him as KAHN in Star Trek Into Darkness, blah, etc.
So… Benedict and Sophie Hunter came out for the premiere. I think Sophie’s ensemble is kind of meh – she has a nice figure and access to great clothes, so I don’t get the skirt at all. It reminds me of, like, a witch costume. There’s something vaguely Tim Burton-esque about it. As for Bendy… he wore JEANS. And, like, a linen-blend duster jacket? I feel like Sophie is dressing Bendy these days. Hm… at least the jeans fit him well.
This was their first red carpet in a few months, since the BFI London Film Festival in October, I think. This is probably their last carpet of the year and I’m not expecting to see the Hunterbatches at all during the 2016 awards season. While Johnny Depp may finagle his way into an Oscar nomination, no one else from the film will be nominated for anything. Black Mass was Benedict’s only film release this year, although he does have the Sherlock Christmas special coming out, and hey, maybe he’ll get some nominations next year for that.
Speaking of the Sherlock Christmas special, there’s a newish trailer for The Abominable Bride. We finally get a better look at “The Bride.” This seems like straight-up Victorian horror.

Ben’s not well styled
Horribly styled. That jacket is terrible, and he is wearing mom jeans. And that belt. He looks like he is going to the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards.
Thanks God, he has no part in this movie, he already is in a lot of franchises.

He showed up several times. Maybe he is under a mask, maybe not. He pretty much was begging for a part in the film.

But no, I saw the movie and no way he plays one of the character even with a mask.
If he is he would have blabbed to us all by now, boy likes to brag and name drop. Simon Pegg is an alien in a costume and he twitted a photo of himself months ago, which was confirmed by JJ.
And yes I agree with Lilac he practically and publicly begged JJ for a part thou am not sure he is in it, even as a storm trooper.

I meant storm trooper. But if he was, we probably would know by now. He’s quite into dropping loud, unsubtle hints constantly. Marvel may have to exercise its executive clause in his contract.

I think they both look good. Still a bit prim and statue-y but I think that’s kind of their thing. He looks healthier than he has done in a while.
She looks especially nice. Her hair is really pretty and I don’t even mind the turtleneck. I don’t like his jacket, though. It’s an odd length. They both look pretty relaxed and appropriate for the event considering that they are there as spectators.

That’s the best her hair has ever looked… down, that is. i think they both look fine.
My only complaint is that their monotone ensemble has them blending in to each other like conjoined twins. I would have liked a pop of red somewhere other than her lips.

My guess is since SW and Marvel are both owned by Disney he’ll be showing up on as many red carpets for those franchises as he can. The Dr Strange promo will be intense and I think this is the start of it as it’s a brand new character into the movies, Cumberbatch has yet to prove himself as a leading man box office draw, Marvel won’t take any chances.
I do snigger that last year he said she wouldn’t be doing every red carpet yet I think she has, even the ones he’s not directly involved in.
idk, maybe he has no choice and he’s under contract to attend them because of dr strange. he could at least wear better jeans though.
Maybe it’s just as much a red carpet event as it is a chance to see the film? If he is under contract to show up at these events in early promotion of Dr Strange, then she might feel that she should be there, too. Heck, if my husband were part of a Marvel franchise (and had the opportunity to make a ton of $$$$), I’d show up to the opening of an envelope if I felt it would help the film!
Are the other MCU actors showing up at the premieres? RDJ? Chris Evans? Paul Rudd? Scarlet? Chris Hemsworth? Chris Pratt? Zoe Saldana? Renner? Ruffalo? If no, then it isn’t Dr. Strange PR, it is just the Otter King PR.
RDJ et al. are all in established franchises though. Doctor Strange is new, and weird. Needs all the advance help it can get.
Or maybe he was invited. And if he’s going to be there, why is it so odd that he take his wife? Jeez.

Am glad he’s not in it as we wouldn’t hear the end of it. Hair looks good here, clothes nah but it’s still an improvement on him dressing himself.

But…..I thought the Abominable Bride was Sophie? Sorry. Now that’s out of my system, I thought she looked unusually good. Still wearing the black tights, I see. They must be glued on. As for Cumby, I wonder why he wore jeans to such an event. But he looks handsome, if subdued. He’s gained some weight back and looks healthier. There’s something just a little different about his face. Are his eyebrows darker? At any rate, I thought they looked pretty good.

They did a bit if a hash job of tailoring that Valentino skirt. Looks like they trimmed a chunk off the top, pulled it up, and hurriedly took it in at the sides, then reattached the waistband in a way where the lines under the waist are distractingly curved.
I actually really like what she’s wearing. But then again, I kinda like ‘witchy’ or goth. I personally wouldn’t have gone with suede booties. Patton leather pumps? Something with color? Benny is the real fashion challenged one here. He appears to be wearing two different colored denims, in three pieces.
He looks awful. I hate his outfit, and he looks greasy and exhausted. She looks much better than him and this is one of her better choices, fashionwise.

Sophie and Benedict are wearing the same shoes that they wore to the CBE ceremony. Both are wearing suede lace up boots. One with heels, one not. I’ve noticed that they seem to be coordinating on their clothes (was disappointed here, though). That jacket is a mess, even on the designer’s model. Oh well-don’t understand “high fashion”. Sophie looks really good and I love that she wore Stormtrooper colors. 😉 oh Inadvertek-I’m so down with Goth, witchy, punk, black, etc.

No she isn’t, but she likes to tell people she is Jane Birkin’s niece. (she isn’t, and therefore is not Charlotte’s cousin.
That’s just something the Cumberbatch stans who are butthurt because Sophie stole their internet boyfriend made up. It’s true that Sophie Hunter and Jane Birkin are related, and that some tabloids and random blogs have inaccurately posted that they’re aunt and niece, but no reason to assume Sophie personally was going around telling them that. There’s literally zero evidence that Sophie herself ever said that.
Honestly I think people just don’t understand how inaccurate the press can be, and how they like to exaggerate things. I guarantee if you tell a journalist that you’re distantly related to someone famous, it’s 50/50 whether they print that or whether they print that you’re immediate family. And that’s being generous. That’s just how the press works. I’ve seen it with every actor I’ve ever fanned over, and even experienced it personally although I’m a total nobody who only ever gets interviewed over boring financial stuff.
My favourite TV star wrote an article recently where he told this story about how he gave an interview right after his grandmother died, and the journalist printed that it was his mother who had just died. His agent phoned up to demand a retraction, and they changed it to read “his aunt just died.” Can you imagine if that had happened to Sophie and not the actor? Is there any doubt haters would be accusing her of pretending that her mum died?
The nude model from the video wrote about her experience working on it, and said she worked with Hunter, and did you know she is Jane Birkin’s niece. Where would she have got that from, if not from SH herself? It didn’t originate in the press, though I don’t doubt their inaccuracy. She wrote about it years ago, before SH had a public profile. They’re very very distantly related, but not as impressively as she has claimed.

this is because hunter did not have a public profile before, so the media outlets were left to decide who she was. since everyone wants to be 1st, there wasn’t a lot of fact-checking in the rush

had his pr been more involved and bigger and better, anything that could be deemed ‘unflattering’ would have been removed before they went public, and she would not have been misidentified in some papers like she was. a press pack from his pr would have the correct name info but that is just not what we saw. what we saw indicated scrambling, uninformed press
Froop, the model’s blog post about Sophie sounded like she did a google search and just copy pasta what came up. It didn’t sound like she knew Sophie personally. The blog post was also pretty fawning, so perhaps she was sucking up (because Sophie’s a director? Because she’s from a wealthy family? Who knows). Or Sophie could have mentioned being related to Jane and the model misheard or mis-remembered the exact relationship.
And the thing is, she might not have been famous till she became Ben’s girlfriend, but she has given a few interviews before that time.
Honestly I don’t think some random blog post is really the rope around Sophie’s neck.

The main reason I posted is I find it startling and a touch creepy that they look alike. I saw a couple on the street a few weeks back, similar hair, similar glasses in each others arms and it was just a bit much. I can’t imagine marrying a clone of myself physically..

LMAO! I like what he’s wearing. Its not glam because he’s not in the movie. Its just casual enough to be seen and noticed, but not to detract from the actual stars of the movie. I prefer her with her hair down, so I’m happy with her look. I don’t normally like her choice in shoe, but they’re not silver, so I’m happy.
