The ‘80s called and they brought faux fur coats and a surprise wedding. I honestly didn’t even know Richard Marx and Daisy Fuentes were a couple, so imagine my surprise that they got surprise-married on December 23rd. What the what?! All that being said, the photos are GORGEOUS. If you were getting married to a man who hasn’t been a big deal in more than two decades, you could only hope to look this good!
Some details of the wedding… Richard’s adult sons were in attendance. You know how he has adult sons? It’s because he’s 52 years old! And Daisy is 49!!!! I can’t believe that we’re finally getting an age appropriate couple and it’s Richard Marx and Daisy Fuentes. Apparently, they’ve been together for “about a year” and interestingly enough, they seemed to get together just as Richard’s 24-year-marriage to Cynthia Rhodes was falling apart. He got a divorce in 2014 and he’s been with Daisy ever since. And now they’re married. It’s actually the second marriage for both of them – Daisy had a starter marriage in the ‘90s.
They got married in Aspen, which is where a lot of celebrities spend the Christmas holiday. I don’t have the ID on her wedding gown, but they both took pains to emphasize that the white coat she’s wearing is faux fur. The photos are… AMAZING. I’ve said this before, but I always appreciate it when celebrities let the world creep on their wedding pics for free, via social media. I enjoy that trend so much. And while an Aspen wedding to an ‘80s heartthrob might not be everyone’s cup of tea, we can all admit that these are great pics, right?

Not as much as you’d think. She has amazing skin. I met her at a charity function maybe 5 or so years ago. She’s really stunning. Match that with professional makeup like she has here (i’m assuming) and this is barely a touch up. I’d think it’s safe to assume there’s only a filter used.

Yeah, he left his wife Cynthia Rhoades (dancer/actress from the ’80s), whom he always said he adored. Daisy writes a song with him and stars in a steamy video soon after his divorce announment. She’s never been a songwriter before, has she?. I’m sure there was overlap there.
He was asked in an interview after the demise of his 25-year-old marriage if his new album he had been writing would touch on that. He said no. It would be about sex, sex and passion and that you don’t know where it’s going, if it’s just for that moment and enjoy it. He then went on to say he wasn’t having a midlife crisis, but was excited about living his life in a different way now and enjoying life and the future. He sure didn’t seem torn up about his marriage breaking up. He threw in it had been a hard time and his wife was a wonderful woman in other interviews after some backlash.
At least, Chris Martin seemed broken up about the marriage to write some songs about regret and the breakup, meaning he was feeling something.
They do look cute in the wedding photos but very photoshopped. If you see him in other photos he’s going heavy on plastic surgery or botox or something and looks done, almost ove done for a man his age.

I wanted to like them, but how they probably started dating when he was married, and that she feels like a composer now is quite sad.
He seems completely infatuated and I’m sure Daisy is not a bad person, but dating a married man is probably not the best way to start a solid relationship.
I remember reading that interview and thinking, yeah, there’s totally someone else and now we know. Believe me, I know it’s hard to be married for decades, but their divorce made me sad. Cynthia seems SO great. Such a devoted mom.

I don’t know if you can assume that with any accuracy. Marriages, especially those involving such large assets, are usually in the process of unwinding long before an announcement is made. According to the Daily Mail article below (and other articles) about their home, they announced the divorce in April of 2014 but had been separated since July of 2013.
Don’t know about the relationship overlap or the timing of things vis-a-vis his divorce, but Cynthia was known to have her troubles over the years including a difficult battle with depression and eating disorders. I think he stuck it out as long as he could.
Could be a mid-life crisis but even if so he at least chose an age-appropriate partner to re-start with, unheard of in his field. They look very happy together and his sons seem to approve. I think he’s one of these guys who likes and needs to be married to feel secure. Best of luck to them.

I thought there was something about her being in poor health, arthritis or something like that, Perhaps injuries from dancing.
I remember about 10 years ago there was a blurb in People about the Marx family. Apparently they moved back to Chicago because they didn’t want to raise their boys in superficial Hollywood. Cynthia at the time was a stay at home mom.
Count me in as shocked that the he divorced Cynthia. I thought they would be in it for a long haul. Super sad about this.
However, they must have raised their sons right because you never hear about them. The boys grew up well too!
All 3 of their sons are musicians too. I fell down a rabbit hole researching this last night—forgive me, but Hold on to the Nights was my prom anthem. Anyway, I found something with Richard saying that Cynthia couldn’t dance anymore due to severe pain. She was a pretty gymnastic-type dancer (see for instance her Tina Tech in Flashdance) and was in her mid-thirties when she retired from performing. I kind of feel like he dumped Cynthia for his “elegant, sexy” Daisy but maybe she dumped him, he does seem kind of douchey.
I remember hearing something years ago about her having to stop dancing because of health issues that prevented her from dancing.
I’m old enough to remember them both. Pics are really pretty. She looks better than he does. His hair, ewwww. I don’t like bouffants on men.
I watched his music video that she starred in. I have embarrassment chills for both of them. Also, a quickie marriage based on passion after your 25 year marriage ends is DOOMED. I give it 2 years TOPS.

I’m a big fan of his and he’s always been involved in music in front and behind the scenes. I watched his video with Daisy yesterday and was embarrassed for her. The words to the song are like a one nite stand. I wish them happiness and joy in their new life together. She looks beautiful and the background is stunning.

Richard Marx is actually a very successful songwriter. I’m a Keith Urban fan and he co-wrote several songs for him recently. I think he wrote other hits recently but can’t recall which. People seem to focus so much on celebrity that they forget you can have just as big or bigger career behind the camera or microphone.
He wrote the tear jerker “Dance With My Father” for Luther Vandross.
He’s like the former lead singer of Four None Blondes Linda Perry. She no longer sings but she writes for other artist. She wrote a lot of songs for Pink.

He has written a lot of songs over the years for people and has been in the production end of things and I guess still toured, But I have heard of him and his songwriting for people for forever, which those songwriting royalties is what makes you even richer. Daisy had a clothing line at Kmart or Walmart at one point. That’s all I can recall. Songwriting actually generates more income in the long run that just being a singer. He will do well in the long run.

I’m working for the archive of the music channel Ms. Fuentes used to VJ for, and I have watched hours of raw interview footage of hundreds of artists, and I have to say….I was VERY impressed with Richard Marx. He was so smart, kind, funny, gracious, humble…seems like a great guy. Happy for them!

Totally shocked and disappointed. He was obviously having an affair with the D. The video was so lame and rather disgusting considering the situation.
