Johnny Depp & D&G-clad Amber Heard at the PSIFF: drunk, lovely or both?

wenn23316476

Here are some photos of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp at the Palm Springs International Film Festival over the weekend. They attended the big opening gala, which is where Depp picked up an award, and Heard presented an award to Alicia Vikander. Amber’s dress is Dolce & Gabbana and I swear, this looks like at least two other dresses she’s worn in the past few months. Or maybe everything blends together with Amber – she’s a very pretty woman, but I think her charisma-vacuum vibe causes me to not really remember her clothes. As for Depp…well, he looks three sheets to the wind in these photos. Even if he wasn’t drunk in these photos, he certainly carries that “drunk” look with him all the time now.

As Depp was accepting his award at the PSIFF, he remembered to thank his wife, as they are just one month away from celebrating their one-year anniversary. Depp said: “I also have to thank my wife Amber for putting up with me, for living with all these characters, which can’t be easy. It’s hard for me—it’s got to be hard for her.” As for Amber, she has a new interview with The Independent – you can read the full piece here. She talks for a bit about The Danish Girl and transgender issues, but it was the other stuff I found interesting.

Moving to NYC & modeling: “I thought I had died and gone to heaven. From that moment on I was different.” Modelling, however, held no interest for her, even from the beginning: “I hated it.”

The lack of roles for women: “I’m a woman… I get to giggle sometimes. In case you haven’t noticed, go see a movie right now and tell me what the majority of compelling speaking roles are.” The roles she’s offered are “pedantic and over-played stereotypes…Because there are few parts, there’s fierce competition and anything that’s led by a woman is not finance-able. So those movies are typically under-financed and under-budgeted and under-made. Film-makers are 90 per cent male, so we don’t have a more balanced perspective from our storytellers. We’re way behind in this possibly progressive medium.”

Sexism in filmmaking: “It takes not just actors and actresses noticing it. It takes audiences saying, ‘I will show up to see a movie led by a female cast or one focused on the female life or elements of female perspective. It takes the studio system to be tired of this old, formulaic approach to making movies. They’ve got to be interested in changing – the system of financing movies has to change.”

[From The Independent]

I’ve said this before, but there actually is a reason why Amber hasn’t managed to break out as a legitimate star: it’s because she’s really not all that talented, and she has the on-screen presence of a wet noodle. Is she beautiful? For sure. But she’s utterly forgettable on-screen. I’m just saying… in Amber’s case in particular, it’s not just sexism in Hollywood. It’s that producers would rather hire someone who can actually ACT.

  1. Locke Lamora says:

Yes, she’s not that talented, but everything she said here is on point.
As for Johnny, I would slam a woman for not looking her best, so I’m not going to slam him. Who knows what he’s going trough.

    • Jules says:

Gee how sexist of you. A real women’s champ!

    • Aren says:

      Great comment, thank you.
      And I agree.

    • FLORC says:

I’ll slam Johnny for the same reasons i’d slam a woman in this context. He looks incredibly unhealthy. Much like Paz a while back. Stumble on the red carpet looking sweaty, pasty, and overall yucky it’s fair to find that unappealing.
Johnny’s isn’t looking his best. He’s looking damn near his worst. He has shades of Charlie Sheen’s pale, clamy skin. Uneven tones, poor dental care, greasy hair, hunched posture… And the glassy eyed stare. So, i’m judging him as equally as i’d judge a female in that state.

      • Locke Lamora says:

See, I’m the opposite – hair, makeup, clothes, that’s fair game. But the actual state of someone’s body I wouldn’t comment. To each their own, I guess.

      • FLORC says:

Unless it’s out of their control a person’s health imo isn’t off limits. Not the snark sake. That can sound cruel, but i deal with having to speak very blunt about that daily almost.
He appears in terrible shape and I would have thought he’d improve since marriage. To be healthier for her and she wanting the best for him.

      • Locke Lamora says:

Well, let’s agree to disagree. I think a person’s healthis only their bussiness, and maybe a few close people.

      • FLORC says:

Alright. I don’t think what i’m saying is being taken correctly. And as a side commen this site discusses health daily almost, Sheen, K’s, Midds, and loads of others. Tough to avoid on this site.

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

I have to agree- he looks- well, awful, health -wise. Pale, waxy, bloated, sweaty.

I scrolled down the the photo of him smiling, and uttered an involuntary, “ugh!”

Reminiscent of the in -hospital photos of Avril Levigne’s (sp?)first husband Dereck Whibley/Whitney/Whit-something-or-other. As in, living on borrowed time.

      • krtmom says:

He looks like he smells really bad!

      • Janet says:

@krtmom He doesn’t. People who get to meet him always say he smells amazing.

      • finis says:

I agree, he just looks ill. That greasy long hair rug he’s wearing to cover his jowels isn’t helping. Is he undergoing treatment for a medical condition??

      • raincoaster says:

Oh, I don’t think any of us really care about a total stranger’s health. We just care because on the red carpet it’s his JOB to be pretty, and he’s really not doing well. We’re going to have Words at his quarterly performance review.

    • fishfishbirdcats says:

Locke Lamora– you did slam him, though! You’re the first comment, and you put the spotlight on how he looks (not the best). Then you wrote that you’re not gonna slam him for not looking his best! Geez, either slam or don’t, but be honest about it.

      • Zwella Ingrid says:

He looks like hell on a half shell. I’ll put that straight out there. Totally unhealthy, and unkempt.

  2. Sara says:

The great female roles are on TV. Heck, most of the great roles are on TV. I rarely go to the movies anymore…

    • Trillion says:

I agree. TV has never been better. It’s exciting. The cinema-going experience is just not that great – and so expensive! (esp. when you have to factor in a babysitter) But if you’re lucky enough to live in a town that has an Alamo Drafhouse, I’m telling you it’s a game changer.

  3. Blackbetty says:

He looks really horrible here. I thought the first pic, was a wax figure of him!

    • Lizzie McGuire says:

Hahahaha me too! I thought damn Madame Tussaud’s went a little rough on their Johnny wax figure

  4. Darkladi says:

    God…he looks…awful. What the hell?

    • C says:

Ikr. And his teeth are awful!

      • Azurea says:

He’s really looking more like a crack addict than a drunk these days.

      • Pandy says:

Yes, very Faces of Meth … no excuse for those teeth.

      • fishfishbirdcats says:

I’m going to defend him. Not because I’m a big fan, but because he has excuses for his hair and teeth, at least. The teeth are for a role, another “Pirates” movie. And they oil his hair, too, which is really hard to wash out, more bother than he thought it was worth, probably. He actually looks fine in some of the photos. He’s got powder on his pants, though, and his eyes look a bit too dark and bright. So there’s that. Coke?

    • Jacq says:

If Depp was some regular guy on the street, we would all be scrambling to get across it. Jeepers!

  5. Catwoman says:

Sorry, honey, you have to have talent to get those roles. They are few and far between, but they do require more than a pretty face. And your husband looks like one of those random homeless dudes that sometimes get plucked off the street and paraded down the red carpet..

    • Shaunna says:

Amber was awesome in The Danish Girl! Don’t say she is a bad actress until you see that movie.

      • Liz says:

Amber is 100% replaceable in The Danish Girl. I’m completely confident that any number of lovely british actresses would have done a finer job. That was a favor is I’ve ever smelled one. In fact, just casting an American actress in an entirely European film, by a british director, SUSPECT AS FUCK! Everyone knows American actors and actresses are rarely allowed to work across the pond. Usually only names that draw an audience, like Johnny himself, get that chance. That role was bought and paid for…likely as a favor to Depp.

    • Laura says:

No, he doesn’t. Her husband is one of the biggest and richest stars in the world.

  6. Angelica says:

Omg, he should not be smiling in that second pic, it doesn’t even look like him!

Was that mean to say? That was mean…I’ll go sit in the corner now….

  7. Yeses says:

What are all the white, powdery stains in the front of his suit, you can see it in the first photo clearly, like someone spilled powder on him, maybe his wife’s compact, maybe something else……

    • Luca76 says:

Probably hi definition make up which means he would have looked even worse without the touch up.

    • Liz says:

Cig ashes. He smokes before every red carpet. Obviously he just can’t even be bothered to try dusting them off and neither can she. Useless wife.

  8. HEJ says:

I wish someday a man or woman whos only famous because of their partner would just say ‘I know I’m not famous because of my talent and I love living like a celebrity’
It would be so nice after every ‘of course his/her career helped me a bit but I’m very independent’

  9. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

He has enough money to get his teeth fixed now. So…

    • ell says:

ikr? i don’t even understand what’s going on with those teeth.

      • Laura says:

If I remember correctly, those are his gold teeth for Hack Sparrow. (Typo, and it stays because it’s hilarious) It must still be filming.

      • antipodean says:

Laura, never a truer word spoken, Hack Sparrow he is at this stage of the game. He seems to be devolving rapidly, something just is not right with him. It is amusing that Amber decries the Hollywood system which positively lionises and applauds her own husband, and supports his overblown and self indulgent career.

      • Laura says:

@antipodean Are you serious? You must’ve not seen Black Mass. He gave one of the best performances of the year and his career in it.

Why wouldn’t the Hollywood system positively lionises and applauds this legend who’s made them billions!? Your opinion of him is just that..

    • Daria Morgendorffer says:

What’s sad is that he actually paid money for his teeth to look that way! He has all sorts of caps and other things on there purposely, and it makes them look like they’re rotting. They’re also probably actually rotting though. He tries so hard to be a rock star. It’s so odd to me that he seems to really believe he is Jack Sparrow, or the new Keith Richards.

    • Karen says:

If the gold teeth are hack sparrow, what’s with the red one? Is it blood? A ruby? Why does he have a red tooth?

*edit* I meant to write jack not hack.

  10. Ally8 says:

I think he actually looks a bit better here… less waxy.

Unfortunately, she simply doesn’t have an expressive face, nor one that is startlingly interesting from all angles. Too bad she didn’t like modelling, I think she was better suited to that career. Her acting is mostly astute posing.

    • Aren says:

Yes, I also think he looks better.
And in that smile photo for some reason I thought he looked just like Kate Moss does these days.
Ever since somebody mentioned how Cumberbatch (sp) and his wife were like twins, I keep seeing couples and ex couples facial similarities.

      • SilkyP says:

@ Aren I seem to remember there was some scientific research years ago that showed that people often choose partners whose faces are similar to their own. It is not always obvious right away, because they might have different coloring. The similarities are often in the proportions of the face, the ways eyes are placed, set of mouth etc. I agree, by the way, that Kate Moss and Johnny Depp are practically twins these days… And not in a good way I have to add… regretfully.

  11. lilacflowers says:

He appeared to have more chemistry with Kate Winslet than with Amber.

    • Alexandra says:

Seriously, he looked so happy to reunite with his Finding Neverland co-star (OMG can we get Johnny 2004 back please?). He seemed more relaxed with her than with his own wife. I even had an ‘awwwww’ moment when they hugged.

  12. ell says:

she’s gorgeous. uninteresting af, but so so pretty.

he looks like an old leather jacket ready to be thrown out.

  13. Mary says:

What is happening to him? If it’s just a matter of mid-life metabolism catching up with him, I sympathize, but he does have access to resources to get fit. I suspect it’s something well beyond that though, he’s starting to look so ill. Really hoping he turns this around for himself.

  14. Sure Jan says:

Johnny still looks a hot ass mess, Amber sweetie go back to modeling or just do something other than acting.

    • MrsBPitt says:

She does have another job…as Mrs. Johnny Depp! And It’s the best acting she’s ever done….I couldn’t pretend to want that bloated, disgusting, dirty looking creature anywhere near me…(my God, am I really describing the used- to- be beautiful Johnny Depp, this way)! He looks like he smells….gross…

  15. Cee says:

    Depp needs a good wash.

  16. SilkyP says:

I have watched with wonder the way in which Amber Heard has grabbed the spotlight during the promotion of The Danish Girl (a film which she is in for only a few minutes) for the past few months. Finally I have come to the conclusion that her husband must have played an important part in the financing of the film. He probably also agreed to appear on the red carpet with Amber Heard to promote it. All of this in order to give Heard a podium which she wouldn’t have had otherwise, based on her marginal talents as an actress.

Is there something wrong with this? Hmm, well I would say it’s great that Johnny Depp uses his money and influence to get films about important issues made. But it really irritates me to see Heard parading around, being photographed and interviewed as if it is HER film. I wish she would sit down already.

    • ell says:

wow, is she really in it for a few minutes? i assumed she was a supporting character with more screentime…

      • CornyBlue says:

She has less than 10 minutes of screentime. And her OTT acting sticks out like a sore thumb.

      • Cee says:

She’s in few scenes, she’s not supporting. I believe Matthias (too lazy to google spelling of surname, sorry!) has more scenes than Amber.

Her accent is all over the place – is she british? is she american? is she a danish woman with a strong accent?

      • Lilacflowers says:

We need to see more Matthias.

    • Laura says:

      That is a good observation.

    • Mira says:

The thought crossed my mind. The Danish girl was a top tier project in terms of young talent. You have recognised talent like Ben Whishaw, Redmayne, schoenaerts and vikander in the cast, the rest of them are mainly good respected european actors. Oscar winner Tom Hopper is the director. There was definitely fierce competition for even a small part in this movie. Heard totally seems like the odd one out based on CV and reputation as an actress. Especially as she seems to be pushed to the forefront of the promotion ( for what is supposedly more or less a cameo) and even more so that Depp is on the red carpet with her so much.
My two cents would be that Depp is part of the deal in terms of promoting the film. Fair enough, whatever you have to do to sell the movie but its quite amusing to see Heard getting all the tabloid attention while Vikander fairly quietly walks away with all the awards. And all without bringing Fassbender on the red carpet for attention. 🙂

    • frisbee says:

The connection I can find between Depp and the film is via Gail Mutrux who produced Donnie Brasco (1997)that starred Depp.
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Danish_Girl_(film)
She has her own production company called ‘Pretty Pictures’ and was one of the producers on The Danish Girl alongside Working Title.
It would be entirely possible for Depp to funnel money through to ‘Pretty Pictures’ to ensure his wife gets a job on a prestigious project. Her Production credit plus the hype AH is chasing over a 10 minutes screen job and JD appearances at the Premiere’s for the film all persuades me that you are absolutely right.

      • SilkyP says:

        Thanks for the research, @frisbee!

      • Liz says:

You nailed it! Also there was another connection through Amber’s representation but no doubt, Depp played a very, very big but quiet part. As someone else mentioned for an American actress with HER resume to get a role in a strictly European film, almost completely unheard of. And some of her work was cut…of course they’ll say due to time, because her role was, in fact, disposable. They even changed the character from a singer (Heard can’t sing) to a dancer (turns out she couldn’t dance either), all favors. That doesn’t happen for small supporting roles unless you NEED that actor for a very, very specific reason.

    • Bridget says:

It’s probably more along the lines of “if you hire Amber, we’ll make sure Johnny goes to all the red carpets”. He’s her ‘value added’. Plus he’s hitting most of these events for Black Mass anyhow.

  17. vauvert says:

Everything that can be said about JD has already been said. (Shaking head sadly).

Amber is gorgeous but even if her husband’s influence buys her some roles, she will never be what she wants – a bonafide celeb and star in her own right. She has all the sparkle and talent of a doorknob.
She would be a great model, since she can lift her nose and arch her back with the best of these new oatmeal girls – the Hadids and Cara, but acting? Not so much.
Does she hustle? Sure. The problem is that not only does she lack talent, but she is also seen as a gold digger, an opportunist and a stuck up bimbo, all in one. Oh, don’t forget hypocrite to the nth degree. Which got her a rich and famous man, but won’t get her the legitimacy she craves.
The pics here tell all the story there is to tell.

    • Farhi says:

It could be a good book material. It reminds me of “Vanity Fair” . As you said the girl got everything she thought she wanted yet she didn’t get the legitimacy because of how she got it. And then she realizes it wasn’t actually what she wanted.
A tale as old as time, but I think it is not told enough times unlike Cinderella and other fairy tales.

  18. Jolene says:

    pssffft on these two

    • Belle Epoch says:

How is her lawsuit against Australia going?

      • Liz says:

So far she’s gotten everything she wanted and is just dicking them around. But come April when she has to stand in court and “defend” her not guilty plea, I think they’re gonna show her just how much they don’t care for celebrities. They stuck it to Frank Sinatra in his golden days, this girls is in for a rude awaken. Unless in fact, she is somehow not guilty, but I rather doubt that.

    • Janet says:

      I love them.

  19. CornyBlue says:

Amber Heard is one of the blondes who are so pretty they make my head hurt but I could never pick her out of a lineup. Another one is Candice Swanepoel.

    • fishfishbirdcats says:

LOL, I’m the same way with her. She’s gorgeous, I love looking at her photos, but as soon as I look away, I’ve forgotten her.

  20. Trinitay4u says:

She is composed as always. But he looks awful!!! Effing Greasy. Yuck.

  21. Kitten says:

This reminds me of when Jessica Biel complained that she wasn’t getting the good roles because she’s “too pretty”. Right church, wrong pew, gals.

    • platospopcorn says:

Totally stealing “right church, wrong pew”!!!

    • JenniferJustice says:

And don’t forget Shawn Young tried pulling that crap too – “I’m too beautiful and intimidating…” . Don’t these women realize how obvious their schtick is? They have nothing – NOTHING – of meaning on their resume but think we buy into the idea that they are somehow great actresses being passed over for what? whom? Are they trying to convince us that the roles we’ve seen played by actual great actresses would have been better played by these hussler nobodies riding the coattails of their partners and living in the margins of the industry? Do they think we’re stupid or are they really in that deep a state of denial?

    • Nancy says:

Lol! Kitten you do have a way with words. Love the Biel comparison as well….I’m so pretty, I’m married to Justin Timberlake, it’s just not fair. Please don’t let that girl alone with a bunch of us regular people……we’d have to teach her what color the sky is in the real world…..

  22. platospopcorn says:

Amber Heard will never be as compelling as she was when she was partner/muse to Tasya van Ree. That relationship and the photos that Tasya took of her actually made her look provocative and sensual. Unfortunately, it was probably also the best acting we’ll ever get out of Amber, because as soon as she hooked up with Johnny, any hope that she had ever been anything remotely resembling authentic was shot. It’s all crass, blatant careerism. Girl’s definitely got hustle. She’s just got nothing to sell.

And no, I’m not Tasya! lol

  23. Velvet Elvis says:

Amber really is a gorgeous looking woman but I saw her on the James Cordon show the other week and she was a real snoozefest. No amount of Scarfy’s influence in Hollywood will make that girl a star.

  24. Eden75 says:

She’s pretty, she’s right about the lack of roles, etc, etc but the woman needs to have a serious look at herself onscreen. Wow, she sucks.

I also forgets she exists, like the Silence. Look away and you forget all about her, look back and aww, she’s so pretty, who is she?

    • MrsBPitt says:

It’s nice that she can continue to make herself feel better with the “there are no good roles for women” line….and she is right, great women roles are few and far between, but, honey, you are not getting roles due to any shortage of them for women, but because of your shortage of talent…period!

  25. serena says:

Damn Johnny looks really bad.. I’m actually concerned about his health 🙁 I hope he’ll pick himself up soon.

    • iheartjacksparrow says:

Just when I think he can’t possibly look worse, he shows up at an event… and looks even worse! That hair looks so greasy. And the photos in DM makes the spots on his pants look like he had peed on himself.

  26. HollyG says:

Pedantic: I do not think this word means what you think it means, Amber.

    • JenniferJustice says:

I wondered about that too. The roles she’s offered are too detailed and meticulous? What does that mean?

      • mee says:

maybe she means pedestrian – she got the first 3 letters right.

      • mee says:

maybe she means pedestrian – she got the first 3 letters right at least. sigh, this is what johnny must mean about her being “literate” – i.e., she can read (although she may not know the meaning of certain words)

    • FLORC says:

The reminded me of when Dina Lohan called cell phones “Organic” in the Dr. Phil interview, but meaning more available or common.
Was she saying the roles offered are overthought and excessively detailed? If so, isn’t that a good thing so the actor can translate that into acting?

      • JenniferJustice says:

I would think it’s a good thing but she’s saying it in the context of stereotyping so she’s being offered generic roles with a lot of detail. Sounds contradictory. I guess we’re not as literate as she is. *snort*

  27. Nancy says:

    Strange bedfellows

  28. browniecakes says:

Johnny’s buddies are Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson. His hair, pale face and guyliner makes him look like them. As far as the body goes, let’s hope Hollywood gives him a role he needs to slim down for. She is a knockout. Too bad she didn’t stick with modeling and moved on to acting.

  29. BendyWindy says:

I don’t like Amber Heard, as an actress she does nothing for me and in interviews she sounds like she’s trying too hard to prove she’s smart. However, she’s saying there need to be more roles for women, better roles for women and all anyone can say is, well, you’re just not that good of an actress so who cares what you think.

No, she isn’t a great actress, but I can think of plenty of actors who are wooden charisma vacuums who not only work consistently, but in wonderful roles. Whether or not Amber is the next Streep or Blanchett is almost beside the point. There shouldn’t be such a dearth of decent roles for women that only a handful of actresses play them each year (Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, etc.).

  30. Diana Spencer says:

In all fairness, I don’t know the woman personally, but why did he feel the need to marry her?

  31. themummy says:

I say this in all seriousness: Depp looks truly, truly ill…like he is on death’s door. I wonder if he is drinking himself to death.

  32. Esteph says:

You know Kaiser, I have to agree with you and everyone else who says that she is forgettable. I saw The Danish Girl over the winter break, and I forgot she was in the movie, but she was “meh” IMO. She is so beautiful, but forgettable nonetheless.

  33. Armenthrowup says:

I honestly can smell him from here. UGH.

  34. TippyToes says:

She is just like Katie Holmes, all the connections in the world, marrying a A lister, will not make you a star if you don’t have the talent. Being a star takes a lot more than a pretty face.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Great comparison! And her brand of generic pretty is totally lost on me. Good luck to the both of them.

    • Liz says:

Katie actually still has her up by two points, she was in a successful TV series AND that one Batman movie.

  35. nicole says:

His hair is so greasy looking and what kind of style is it, it looks awful. But he still has the most beautiful brown eyes and I still cant help but like him. What is happening to all the actors like Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Johnny Depp, all in there early fifties and they seem to be really aging all so badly, and they all look like there troubled in some sort of way.

  36. suze says:

Depp looks ill, so ill I can’t snark. God, I hope whatever is going on someone can get him some help. If you Google photos of him even five years ago, he looks like a different person.

    • FLORC says:

I said above. I’ll snark. Something is wrong here. A new relationship and love brings joy to people. how he hasn’t improved and only gotten worse idk.
If it’s substance abuse I would hope his family and friends get him help. Not enable him. If it’s a serious condition I wish him the best.
As here.. Amber appears to be enabling poor care. And Johnny is trying to outrun some demons.

    • JenniferJustice says:

The blinds have been saying for a long time now that he is an alocoholic and his family, friends, and Amber have tried intervening. I tend to beleive it. He appears to have alcohol bloat. He was obviously drunk at several awards shows. He doesn’t take pride in his appearance at all anymore. I suspect too that it might be more than alcohol. With friends like Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper, I find it hard to beleive they aren’t doing heavy drugs. Cooper and Manson have both been outed as major coke-heads. Coke makes you bloat too. Just sayin’.

      • suze says:

Alice Cooper, though a heavy drinker, was never a drug user.

      • FLORC says:

Cooper admitted to doing what his “older brothers” did trying to keep up. Famously 1 being Moon of Who fame. That included drugs. He’s said he’s both done them, and didn’t do them so take that as you will.

      • Liz says:

Cooper has been sober for decades actually. So has his other band mate Joe Perry, had hoped that would be a positive influence. As for Amber, girl has been pouring him drinks, sharing in glasses of wine with him and looks high as a kite so I don’t think she’s trying to help him, seems more the enabler trying to OFF him.

  37. mmm says:

he wasn’t drunk. He gave an speech and was the only who keep it short and on point all the rest were talking and rambling for hours just to say thank you for the award
i think are the desings of D&G what makes her to look similar in every dress they put on her
Dakota Johnson also talked about the problem with the feminine roles, with the example of her mother and grandma. Like why they can’t get any roles and why that infuriates her. Amber isn’t alone
I don’t think she is so un-talented. I have seen some good performance from her, but she isn’t at the level of other actress of her age like the same Alicia Vikander, that’s why she must endure all these roles, because the few good ones goes to other and more talented actresses
Still i think Amber could be a good producer. She seems very smart. Smarter than the actresses/actors of her age. She seems always talking about how some roles or projects should be. I could bet she will end in production. Maybe the production company of her husband, because on the contrary, Johnny owns a production company but he doesn’t seems to be a producer material…

  38. Gina says:

Yeah, and when you say that Viola Davis wasn’t offered “sexy man-eater” roles because she’s not pretty (not because she’s black, gosh) everyone yells at you

  39. Renae says: says:

I think Depp looks like he is at the end stages of whatever he is doing…alcohol, heroin? I don’t know, but he looks so bloated, pasty and unhealthy. I look at him and get angry at her because it looks like she drags him along regardless of the shape he is in. He appears to be in need of an intervention.

    • BNA. FN says:

I’m wondering what are those white spots on his pants? Could it be the Coke spilled on his pants? Just wondering because he appears so vacant in some photos. I’m sure some people will remember the Viper Room days.

    • tracking says:

Whatever he’s up to, looks worse than alcohol for sure. I don’t want to blame her–he’s a grown man responsible for his own bad decisions–but he does seem to have declined markedly since they’ve been together.

  40. Tandy says:

I’ve seen homeless meth heads who look lightyears better than Johnny Depp. Scary af.

  41. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Love her dress; she’s beautiful – he has taken the whole pirate thing too far though.

  42. celine says:

He looks like a strung out, bloated mess. There is absolutely no excuse for the neglected oral hygiene. Ewwww

  43. JenniferJustice says:

Okay, I went back and Googled picks of Captain Jack Sparrow in costume. His upper teeth are fine. It’s only his bottom teeth they grossed out for the character. So, the only reasonable conclusion is that those are his real teeth we’ve been seeing – nothing for POC or any other character. He has lost an upper tooth and several are rotting. Those are not Captain Sparrow’s teeth; Those are Depp’s teeth. But whyyyyyy?

I’m seriously starting to wonder if this marriage/relationship is real or if Amber and Johnny did this for business/career purposes and just put on a show for us. His status boosts her career and her youth and vitality and just being married makes him more appealing and gives the impression of stability. It may seem shallow, but I seriously cannot believe Amber is attracted to this man.

    • BNA. FN says:

I’m with you, I can’t belive Amber is attractive to that man. Can you imagine kissing a man with teeth looking like that? Also, he is a smoker and a drinker, omg, the smell that must be coming from him. In those photos, especially the first one, he looks like he is using her as a crutch so he will not fall down. Look at his hand around her waist, he’s barely touching her. IMO, she is in for the money and life style. Good luck to her.

    • Liz says:

except has being married to HER made him at all more appealing? Cause I only see a few men who go “that a boy Johnny” because she’s bisexual and hot and we all know what those pervs are thinking! Most everyone seems to be side eyeing this pairing. Maybe that was the point, be so cliche it somehow becomes weird? well, they failed.

      • Laura says:

Most everyone? On gossip sites, I guess. Many people love them together. And many men envy Johnny for being married to Amber.

    • rudy says:

      His teeth apparently are TERRIBLE.
What you see is what he has.

It is in the movies that Depp wears the fake teeth.

I wonder if he is afraid of the dentist.

  44. EM says:

Yuck his teeth are vile. He needs to get himself to a dentist, stop smoking and cut down the drinking.

  45. Lotta says:

I want to take him home for a makeover.
Ofcourse I will have to weir glooves.

  46. Eru says:

Well J.Lawrence or Charlize Theron have no problem finding good roles. And they are blonds and pretty.

But pretty actresses like Amber Heard cant see truth. And truth is that they are not interesting, are forgettable, and have limited talent. Thats why they dont get good roles. But they dont want to see the truth and blame it on: “They dont hire be because I’m so pretty. And only give me roles of pretty girlfriend. But I totally expect and want roles that will bring be Oscar”.

Honey its because you dont have talent and charisma to get roles that Scarlett or Jennifer get.

  47. TrixC says:

Ok maybe she is not that talented (yet to see any film she’s in) but there are plenty of not-especially -talented men with solid albeit unspectacular acting careers. Perhaps we should ask why there’s only room for women who have exceptional levels of talent to have a career in films, not everyone is Meryl Streep.

    • Liz says:

math. there are always more roles for men and less male actors to fill those roles. this shouldn’t be any surprise but more women (esp under 25) want to act than men. So there are more choices in the talent pool for all female roles and less roles to fill and even less of real substance. it’s as simple as that. I’ve been in casting, for a female role you will get like 8 times as many submissions as any male role. That’s why more bland males get a chance than females.

  48. Mendy says:

Amber is pretty like athousand other gorgeous- no talent-girl in Hollywood… She has nothing to offer, plus she sounds vain ( never make eye contact exemple) she will disappear if he du,p her ass… And sorry, you dont look like a mess when you are in an healthy, love, relationship… I dont know what it is, but johnny looks like destroying himself more than ever!!!

  49. coolkidsneverhavethetime says:

She’s pretty but I can see her wearing Hollister and hanging out at a food court, texting her QB boyfriend about a keg party… Does that make sense? Like, there’s something totally unsophisticated and unremarkable about her and she’s got a popular cheerleader look. Dallas Cowboy cheerleader… not edgy model/actress/musician/intellectual. Anyways, I don’t think he looks that bad? Considering him and MM and all those guys are getting kinda washed up and bloaty? It happens. I mean, guys age too. Still think he’s great but I second that we need a return of 2004 Johnny!

  50. Terry says:

Depp is very lucky that he is someone rare in Hollywood where the town genuinely likes hims and wants him to be better and do better.

Because if this was any other actor, the press would be gossiping about drug use. I like Depp but his looks just isn’t him letting himself go. He is going through something serious and it is very sad.

I want to see him do much better physically but he is surrounded by people who will tell him anything but the truth.

    • Liz says:

I agree! I think he must have established a very well respected reputation but I suspect some publication is sitting on the story. They may be hesitate to take the plunge but someone no doubt has it. I think People does but because they jumped the gun and printed a “rumor from set” and he bit back, they’re going to be VERY careful from here on. If/when they print another major story about him, I’d take notice. He scared them once but if they get the story and feel confident, they’re going to go for it!

  51. Kennedy says:

Damn. Depp has not aged well.

Ohhh how I wish there was a Charlie Hunnam post today. Could really use some lovely Hunnam Humps to make up for this travesty. 🙂

  52. Janet says:

    Lovely. His speech was sweet.

  53. Mrs. Darcy says:

I really wish Johnny would refrain from public appearances because at this point it feels like a sad train wreck. He is clammy and pale, which for a man with a naturally olive complexion is not natural. I can just pray he has a winter flu and leave it at that I guess.

Is it weird I am actually beginning to feel a little bit, dare I say, it sorry for Amber? In terms of her career expectations vs. reality. Somehow she got it into her head she can act; enough dirty old men in Hollywood told her so. So she b*tches and moans about the quality of the roles offered to her. A real actress would take a crappy small role and inject something, anything into it other than her fail safe vapid stare/deadpan delivery “technique”. Bizarrely this technique works for some actresses who I don’t think are much more talented than Amber, like ScarJo. Star quality is a strange thing. Amber is pretty enough, but she just lacks it. And without any discernible talent or hard graft, her shelf life is going to be short.

  54. Really? says:

I hope that someone close to JD who truly cares for him takes the risk and confronts him with the truth, because only the truth will set Johnny free. Truths like, your health matters more than your career, relationships and friends. For example, If Marilyn Manson is a bad influence on JD in any way, then Johnny needs to drop him. Just like that. The quotes I have read from Manson regarding his friendship with JD have a seriously creepy vibe. It is true, that birds of a feather flock together. Manson looks and talks and sends out soulless sick vibes. Johnny now reminds me of Marilyn Manson . It is scary to see how fast Johnny has gone downhill. I lived with someone who was an alcoholic and was diagnosed with end stage liver disease. He is slowly dying now. My lover went from Johnny Depp gorgeous to bloated, sickly, waxy, deathly looking at an incredible rate of speed. I state the difficult but obvious regarding JD, not because I am a hater, but because I love him from afar, like many fans of his work. I would also recommend an authentic shaman for JD. I will not go into details, but shamanic works appears to be much needed. Last but not least, Amber is gorgeous, but that can be a burden, because it is all that we notice from her. I hope she goes into production and stays behind the camera and DOES SOMETHING about what she is pointing out about women’s roles in the movies. Go for it Amber. You have to let go of wanting to be in front of the camera though.

  55. WTF says:

Amber Heard needs to stop complaining about the industry roles for women. Look at her step daughter, she’s in a movie directed by a woman and the leads are women. I say to Amber Heard, put up or shut up, show us that brilliant acting that you’ve been hiding for 10 + years to get yourself a strong woman’s role or do it yourself WITHOUT any money MEN, only taking the backing from women and don’t let ANY of those women including yourself, supply that money from men. Every time she opens her mouth she’s alienating the very people she wants to work with. Plus actually a VERY sexist view.

    • Mary says:

So right!! I have seen many good women roles past years… Great performance from women..Cate Blanchet, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore…why she didnt got the leading part in Danish Girl??? Ex Machina?? Even the new Star wars is leading by a female role… Why she is not playing those parts????? These roles need talent, charisma…she should just shut up!!
