Somebody better hide the key to the liquor cabinet.

      Dear GG staff
I know you serve alcohol at your events but you damn well better make sure there is nothing but water at Mel’s table. Err on the side of caution.

      • Babalon says:

        Nooooooooo.

I am so full of anticipatory schadenfreude I’m like to burst. Can’t we please feed a drunken and surly Gibson to Gervais?

        Please???

    • marjiscott says:

I wonder if the audience will boo him off the stage, or throw things at him.. Mel, I mean..

  2. InvaderTak says:

For why? To Gibson and gervais.

  3. funckes says:

Ricky G kicks ass. I hope he’ll be there to make Mel extremely uncomfortable.

Future has four baby mommas. The reason he’s not with the mother of his last child is because he cheated. He also called her a bitch on public media. Now he expects sympathy after all his sh@tty public buffoonery.

    • Anne tommy says:

IMHO Gervais is not nearly as funny as he thinks he is. Not nearly as good a presenter as Tina and Amy. He has Used unpleasant language about the mentally challenged – “mong” – and his character Derek is at least borderline offensive. I liked The Office but as a stand up or compère he’s not impressive. Maybe his unattractive personality is part of his act: if so he’s doing a first class job.

      • KB says:

His whole is schtick is basically to laugh at his own jokes. You feel like he’s just reading you one-liners. The criticism on him has always been that he’s s terrible stand-up comedian, it always feels forced.

    • Babalon says:

      +1000

    • funckes says:

I just want him to sh#t on Mel G’s parade.

    • Wentworth Miller says:

Future is a pos in my opinion.

  4. frisbee says:

White male privilege, doesn’t matter what he says or does he’ll always get away with it. They would have roasted an actor of colour alive by now if they had gone on a racist/misogynistic rant that Gibson did. And woman of any hue uttering comparative hatred would have just dropped off the planet as far as HW is concerned. Makes my stomach churn.

    • claire says:

Not a Mel fan but you seem to be talking like Mel hasn’t had any consequences. Hasn’t he been pretty much shunned for many years now? I’m not getting your comparison at all. Also, plenty of POC have done shitty things and still have careers, so, again, where are you going with this?

      • crtb says:

Yeah, like Woody Allen and Roam Polanski. We are horrified by Bill Cosby but how about the guy from 7th Heaven? The Dugger pervert? So many men have done horrific things to their wives and girlfriends but we pick and choose who we want to persecute and to whom we continue to glorify and allowing to make money, movies and TV shows.
AS far as I am concern Mel Gibson has paid his debt to society for his poor choices. I would like to see Woody Allen be forced to stop making movies al long as Mel has.
And please don’t tell me about the horrible things that have come out of Mel’s mouth. Plenty of men in Hollywood and the Music industry have said worse and they continue to be employed: R. Kelly ????????

      • No patience says:

Where Gibson belongs…..somewhere in racist hell. Send him back to Australia. We don’t need him here.

    • V4Real says:

Mel can barely get a job since his rants.

    • islandwalker says:

What the heck? Mel’s career is dead in the water since his behavior was exposed. He’s a pariah. In what way did he get away with it? Meanwhile Polanski marches on to praise and adulation.

    • frisbee says:

He’s presenting at the Golden Globes, that is hardly being ignored. If a POC or a woman had ranted like Gibson they wouldn’t be presenting anything except McDonalds – with fries. He has also continued to work, so the idea that he’s being ignored and shunned by Hollywood is ludicrous, it’s just not happening. I suggest you check out his IMDB pages
      http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000154/
      http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000154/#producer
he might be keeping his head down but he is still working as an actor and producer so yes, he has got away with it, just like Polanski, just like Woody Allen.

      • V4Real says:

@Frisbee Please don’t make me laugh. Mel is not getting the kind of acting jobs that an actor of his caliber would be getting. He was only in The Expendables because of Sly Stallone. Machete Kills and Machete in Space. I’m actually laughing my ass off over here. Those are not movies he should be proud of. Those are I will take whatever role you give me films. He has gone from BraveHeart to Machete in Space… I can’t stop laughing. Wait..You are kidding right?

      • Diane says:

@Frisbee Mel hasn’t “gotten away” with anything. He’s been blacklisted from Hollywood for the longest time and has paid heavily. And your argument about how a POC wouldn’t be able to get away with it, uh Chris Brown, anyone? I think what he did was worse, he got a slap on the wrist, didn’t show much remorse and has been back on stage accepting awards and working with the best in the business. And I guess you don’t remember that Mel was going to be in “The Hangover 2” but then the cast complained to the director and he was abruptly dropped. Mind you, these same actors happily worked with Mike Tyson (a POC) despite his felony conviction for rape. So yeah, I don’t quite buy the white male privilege argument you make in your case. Mel has paid the price and your statement that he’s gotten away with it and hasn’t suffered any consequences is beyond laughable

    • Decorative Item says:

Guess you don’t remember Mayor Marion Barry among others.

  5. Pants says:

If Countess Luann gets remarried, she has to relinquish her title, so my gut says no lol

  6. funckes says:

In Hollywood there are alto of unsavory stars who have excellent publicist to cover their seedy trail. it all depends on the star to keep their traps shut and not go kamikaze.
Mel thought he was invincible then proceeded to self destruct.
Tom Cruz fired his powerhouse publicist for his sister then proceeded to implode.
Bill Cosby went on the holy than thou circuit and destroyed his entire legacy.

  7. AtlLady says:

Mel has done some good quality work in Hollywood, both in front of and behind the cameras. So what if he is a bigoted lunatic who can’t hold his liquor? He isn’t the first by a long shot and he won’t be the last. In the days of Old Hollywood, the studios would have buried Mel’s rantings, which were mild compared to some of the stuff that was actually covered up. I’m sure some handler will keep Mel away from the booze until the after parties, he will read the teleprompter, present whatever award, and get off stage quickly. Folks are just disappointed that someone so charming on the outside can be so despicable on the inside. Like we don’t run into similar horses’ backsides in our own lives on a daily basis.

    • Caz says:

This x 100%. A lot of HWood bigwigs & fave actors would have some very unpalatable career destroying skeletons & secrets…they just haven’t been publicly outed. Others have done far worse IMO.

I watched The Patriot last night. Heath Ledger, sigh. Gibson was awesome in hero mode, back in his prime. He isn’t going to get that back, ever.

  8. Kkhou says:

    Toe pick!

  9. Lurker says:

Kelly Rutherford is baaaack! Check out the DM – they are covering her interview in Elle…wait for it…Romania!

    • funckes says:

Oh I read it! I love how NOW she feels kids need both parents. The comment section was the first part I read.
To bad see never had this epiphany before she imploded.

      • lucy2 says:

‘I hope that this story be an example to others,’ she added.
Of what not to do, hopefully. She’s a real piece of work, isn’t she?

      • Wentworth Miller says:

She’s garbage. The war is over, she’s lost and now here she come trying to play nice.
I wonder if she’s embarrassed that (the court papers are out there for public consumption) everyone knows how much she lied and schemed

  10. nicegirl says:

ok, thanks for the heads up. Will skip watching this year.

  11. Sid says:

Oh great. Ricky please make him uncomfortable as possible! Trying to think who else Ricky could after. Not that much happened this year, in terms of people who will be there and people who aren’t reality stars.

Amy chance he would go after Harvey Weinstein’s groping scandal?

  12. Rockin Robin says:

    Its a no from me.

  13. Nev says:

Ricky Martin. My number one SWOON.

    • Mimz says:

Like someone else said on another post, I’d bang him like a door on a tornado. I know he’s gay, but regardless of that I’d still try to seduce him. He’s so yummy =)

  14. Madly says:

I hate what Mel has done, but Roman Polanski and others have been worse and still people make excuses and want to work with them.

  15. Kym says:

I adore RG and his involvement with animal rights makes me love him even more.
The only thing I don’t hate about MG being there is knowing that RG will be there-welcoming him in the way in which he deserves. Give it to him good 😉

    • cubfan34 says:

      Also presenting,

Amy Adams, Channing Tatum , Jaimie Alexander, Patricia Arquette, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Amber Heard, Bryce Dallas Howard, Kate Hudson, Helen Mirren, Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Kurt Russell, J.K. Simmons, and Olivia Wilde.

  16. EM says:

There are worse stars out there, who have done worse things than Mel Gibson and yet Gibson is always singled out.

    • lucy2 says:

I think it’s because he was so high profile, so successful, and imploded in such a very public way.

  17. Marianne says:

Mel Gibson is an a-hole but he’s stayed out of the presses for a while now. I guess the Golden Globes are willing to give him a second chance.

  18. CK says:

Honestly, I don’t care if there are worse stars out there than Mel Gibson. He deserves to get all the sh*t that he gets. The same goes for the others. However, them escaping unscathed doesn’t even remotely excuse what Mel did/said and make his “supposed snubbing” any less justified. That’s insane. That’s like saying that because Roman Polanski and Woody Allen still walk free, we should just let Cosby off the hook. Nope.

  19. FF says:

    Glad I’ll miss it then.

There’s only a slim margin of this going right and then if it does Gervais is sure to be branded a ‘genius’, and the congratulatory smug on all sides will be unbearable. Pass.

I see people are willfully missing Frisbee’s point but of course you are, if denial and derailing weren’t things the larger issues being pointed out would have been addressed ages ago.

  20. jinx says:

sure old Mel has done ‘fantastic work’ but every time I see his prune face I think ‘hot tub blow job!’ That’s it. That’s what I think every single time. So when he struts his butt on stage and flashes his heehaw smile – you’ll know what I’ll be thinking! No doubt a lot of people in the audience will have similar thoughts. Like watching the hobo clown at the circus IMO.

  21. Sarah01 says:

I will only watch because of Ricky Gervais, I love him!!!

  22. lisa2 says:

I see that people are still angry at Mel and I understand it. But Mel hasn’t been in the press for some time now. No big news worthy events. So Ricky G going after him is going to feel very dated. I don’t see humor in talking about something that happened some time ago. Mel is an easy target. I can see ONE joke but if there is more it will not go over as people here want or expect it too. It is going to feel like Kicking the Guy when he is already down. Nothing funny about that.

*cough* Sorry, I don’t know why, but that header pic brought out a strange terror in me.
